To answer a few questions Ive seen posted here - this my own personal experience.
The PC4000 does not like voltage, the PC4000 EB will react to more voltage however 2.9v is the highest Ive gone.
As far as heat the EB are not nearly as hot, mine are cool to the touch at 258, 2.7v. The PC4000 was hot even at stock settings, so the EB are in fact much cooler running.
The EB scale where the PC4000 does not. I can run DDR400 - about 420 2-3-2-6 (havent really played with anything but cas) and DDR500 - about ddr550 2.5-3-2-7 (which I think is very respectable for 2 x 1GB running 1T). PC4000 would not tighten more than their stock timings and dropped cas below 3 resulted in immediate errors.
The only issue I have with the EB is the memory controllers feakin' out. Using a 3700 San Diego I can run up to 260 Mhz and still be 3d / gaming benchable. However I can Super PI 32m and memtest upwards of 280 Mhz - its not the memory it's something with the memory controllers just like liking taking these too high in 3d apps. Using my Venice I managed 267 Mhz, 1 more Mhz and 3d / gaming benchmarking would just result in a freeze. I have reports of the FX chips going 275Mhz and higher...so this is all dependant on the memory controller.
Im using the orange slots for mine.
Hope this answers some questions till some reviews get posted. Ours should be up mid next week.
Dean
What color slots on the DFI LanParty are you guys running these in?
Whas the difference between those?
I edited the above, but Im in orange.Quote:

Hmm I'm in yellow right now, whats the difference between them?
I am thinking my memory controller is crap. I cannot run 3-3-2 at 250mhz. 3-3-3 is stable but I cannot overclocking past 270 (somewhere a little lower than that) or it locks up in memtest and reboots.
I am thinking of buying a new CPU. Any core in particular that can handle 2G better? or is it luck of the draw..
more results from anyone yet ?
As long as you don't need to the upper vid percent multis.Quote:

With OCZ you can normally assume that the non-highend sticks will not go much higher than specified.Quote:

The -2 BIOS series either works really well on your board, worse or just the same. The yellow slots and 704-2BT BIOS work best on my 2 boards. Others report the orange slots are best. This depends largely on board revisions it seems.Quote:

Found a review on these sticks at Anandtech:
http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2560&p=7
Suprised they didn't make comparison with Ballistix PC4000, only PC3200. Surely a true enthusiast review would recognise these two as the frontrunners...Quote:

looks like i'll have to give gigaram a call again and see what they offer
Here’s some of my results from this memory, seems to be pretty good stuff :)

This was what I first tried booting to for fun, its stable for a SPi32 but wasn't for 3D so i had to try something different.
http://www.unstableoverclock.com/u/r...4000eb2gb2.JPG
This is what works for me 3D stable.
I really like this RAM, it seems to like 2.92v. Thanks for the fantastic product OCZ. :)
Does it do better with more volts? I really want to know how it does with lots vdimm
juicey clock there rockman....real juicey ;)
I'm not done yet Tony :D
Still just trying to get everything settled in.

Hey your the man rockman.
First of all you are using the right memory test tool. Windows memtest is :banana::banana::banana: loads more sensitive then SPI, memtest etc etc etc.
I'm now just wanting people to post game stable timings.

Ordered a kit from www.oc-wear.de. Should recieve it sometime next week. Going to run them with 3500+ winnie and Epox 9NDA3+. I'll post results as soon as I get them.
Haven't done any 3dmark benchies yet but just testing with 32M first :)
Still using 623-3 bios

I am able to run 282 Mhz @ 2.6vdimm in Memtest #5 and Super PI 32M. Thats easy.
Cmon guys I wanna see some 3d benches!!!! :slapass:
Hey, i'm a noob here so i'm sure these questions will be laughed at :) hehe :Quote:

Memory does not alays need high voltage, sometimes tweaking small increases will gain more than ramming more juice.
Ok guys just started testing them out.
I am running memtest 86+ for the moment at 10*260@3-3-2-7 with 2.7v.
I got some questions:
First I see a massive jump in ram speed that memtest is giving me. Before I was at 10*260 with my tccd @2.5-3-3-7 and I had about 2500mb/s. Notice this was a 1gb kit
Now with my new and first 2gb kit I am getting 2902mb/s wich is my opinion a massive increase.
I know the timmings with the EB are a little more agressive than the tccd was but I dont think it can justify the 400mb/s diffence.
So is this increase due to it being a 2gb kit?
LMk what you think!!!
Hehe... I asked before but it looks like nobody wanted to try :( So, maybe I'll try again :D
Have anyone of you guys tried to run 2 instances of "Memtest for Windows" at those high clocks? Maybe up to 500%... Dean? Ryder? George? Each can allocate only 920MB... It's quite a bit more stressful for memory than P95 and normal memtest... I'm really curious how that kit fares with this tool...
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...id=38473&stc=1
Anyone, please? ;) Thanks in advance...

No, you just fire up two instances, from same folder. No need for X2. You might gonna have to play with Priority in Task Manager to have each instance use 50%, though.Quote:

Thanks Ryder :toast:
Thanks Vapor...someone point a Windows memtest noob in the direction of a download linky?
Thanks again
**EDIT** Bachus you are too quick with the post ;) HAHAHAHA
LOL....he answered your post before you posted it!
I think I'm gonna have to run 3 of these to test out my memory (3GB lovin' over here :D)....not that I've ever had problems.
Not to hijack this thread :D
I run two instances of memtest, one using a small sample of say 16mb and another using a large sample of 512mb and adjust memory settings in A64 tweaker while memtest is running to determine stable/optimal settings. The smaller sample will give errors quickly if a settings is not stable, and the larger sample should indicate if both sticks can handle the clocks/settings.
so no word on 875?
guess ill pass :(
Sorry Rev....no 875 board to try it on.... 865 board has been replaced with a DDR2 machine.
I haven't had any customers tell me it runs good on 875 yet either...sorry :(
the only reasons ocz does what it does is because competition. we all know a competitive market brings progress.Quote:

In frustration I found Windows memtest. It finds errors where the others don't. Sometimes very fast. Literally within the first 30 seconds. how many errors you get and how fast you get em. If windows memtest is clear....my games DO NOT CRASH EVER.
EVA2000 and a few other quite prominenant member over at OCAU did agree with me but I am quite surprised by the lack of usage of them in screen shots by OC gurus here and elsewhere.
Hopefully this thread is a sign of things to come.
BTW have any of you guru's tried out the pro version? If not then please tell us about it when you guys do decide to get it! Having to constantly monitor the free version is the only draw back of windows memtest compared to 1.6 etc.
huh i never agreed that win memtest was better than memtest :)
each app accesses and tests memory in different ways :)
pcmark04/05 memory test in itself http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=474 is better for AMD64 mem testing than win memtest and memtest86+ for certain stuff like finding right TREF and drive/drive data strengths
Any confirmation as to what modules these are?
Anandtech talked about infineon. But I aint sure
For the 5th+ time from me alone.....these are Infineon CE-6.
seems 10x280mhz 3-3-2-8 like OCZ said stresses mem controller more and 3dmark2003 froze at GT1 with 2.64v vdimm, froze at GT4 with 2.69v vdimm and 3dmark2003 fully passed at 2.69v vdimm and at +0.25v more vcore to the cpu but the score seemed lower than usual.
But 11x274mhz 3-3-2-8 definitely works :)
Ran GT1 and GT4 (both most stressing on system) in 3dmark2003 in 40 loops @1600x1200 resolution with no probs
then did these

We posted our review, unfortunately with 2 chips and trying different settings I could not break 263 Mhz with Sandy core and 268 with venice.
Overall increased performance with tighter timings rocked - we can run 250 2.5-3-2-7.

the cpu is fine for 2.8ghz probably even higher but this ram is only running 4mhz over spec and even then i dont think its 100% happy - all sorts of strange things happen..
ram will not run 2.5cas at lower speeds - will not run 1:1 at much more that 200mhz
need some pointers on this stuff for sure - side note i can run dual prime for 9hrs and 3dmark will pass but this strange behaviour still happens...?
Arctic,
Post a A64 screenie and the exact voltages you use on cpu, chipset and memory.

Thats the settings i use on a SD FX-55 at 10X280 and 2.90 vdimm on an Asus A8N-sli premium. I have looped 3d03 all day and played a few hours of Quake 4.
Test 1:1 with a lower cpu multiplier. Test at 7 to take it out of the equation.
doesnt matter what settings i try - for 1:1 the highest this ram will go on my setup 257mhz - and that is only memtest stable
games arent stable @ 254mhz - i get erratic behaviour - long pauses where you think the system has froze but after 30seconds it will snap back.....and then eventually lockup..
this is on a divider no less.......i would say well maybe its my setup but this setup ran 512x4 just fine - and had better results than this....im disappointed!!

I have you board CPU and memory here and am testing for you now.
Use Tref 4708 for starters, but I will post settings soon.
sweet - thanks andy
i have made a little a little headway - by setting tref to auto and also setting max async / read preambe to auto which works out to 10 and 7 made a big difference ...
i am also wondering if the nvidia 81.85 drivers are acting up...i dont like beta anything but they were supposed to fix up fear..

thanks for the quick reply - i will give those timings a try... i will be shocked if i can boot 1:1 @ 270x7 but there are a few timings different in your suggestion that i havent tried yet so who knows....
ok i tried the timings - and got a hard bios error - i had memtest turned on in the bios and right after the post screen it tries to load memtest and gives me a black screen saying unexpected interrupt - halting execution
the writing is jumbled a bit - assuming that is bad i tried some variations of your timings and notta - this stuff will not boot 1:1 for me :(
that was 270x7 btw
Try each stick by itself at those settings and let me know.Quote:

Running a 2gb kit with 2-2-2 timings at 250mhz is not likely to happen. The load on your memory controller is just too high. To be honest I don't see a huge difference in when switching from 4000 VX to the 4000 EB 2gb kit. The timings are pretty darn good and I don't see anything with better timings coming along soon.Quote:

Do you think that there will me faster memmory from OCZ that can hit higher clocks like TCCD @ CL 2.5 or CL 3 timings and thats way faster than EB ? of tis this the thing to have in the upcomming year ?
Exactly. In the "real world" these sticks rock.Quote:

Sure this batch kicks ass but will it 2 months from now? My guess is no. If we did make one it would most likely be a limited edition for the reasons listed above.
Besides there are plenty of other parts that should be able to match this and match it on a consistant basis without the worry of it being a golden batch. But hey get em while the going is hot because I sincererly doubt that by year's end it will stay like this just like it was with BE5.
Get them while the going is hot? I might have to....I have a feeling my SLI-DR killed my Ballistix.....these are better for the speeds I run though, so that's a plus.
And I'm very content with limited editions....so long as we get them for at least some time ;)
I sure hope 270-280 is possible with this ram.
I currently stable at 250 with my PC3700eb and my ballistix won't boot even at 260 FSB so sending them back to Newegg for refund and buying some of the 2gb EB but I sure hope a 300.00 investment is worth it over my kickass 3700eb I already have
***crosses fingers***
Finally I recieved my kit today. Initial results are here:crappy 3500+ winny doesn't go much more than 2.67GHz. Gonna adjust Trc,Trfc and other alpha timings later. Overall I'm impressed. Thank's again Ocz!
