Hi, Im kinda new to these forums, but been about searching them for answers for a while, hopefully someone can answer this one for me.
I currently got an AMD Athlon X2 3800+ @ 2.8ghz @ 1.5v, this is an 0601 CPU (dont ask me for the rest of the stepping as its got a water block on top of it) but when I first got it, I remember looking the full stepping up and seeing people hit 3ghz with this CPU.
Its plugged into a DFI expert AA0 mobo with 2gb G.Skill HZ PC4000 currently at 264mhz, set to 180 in the bios, if I set to 166 I get no post.
I can get this CPU to 2.9ghz @ 1.57v 1hr Prime stable but then fails every time, I thinks its a memory thing as the memory is some what of a BIEACHHH to configure.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Well so far it's superpi + 3Dmark05 stable, I will post more benchmark later :D, just too happy right now since I thought my CPU maxed @ 2.66Ghz, found out that was because of the max async latency and read preamble set too low :D
@Seanie's snow: You could try lower the max async latency and read preamble like I did, I thought it didn't matter since my Ram can run stable @ 250Mhz but putting mem divider makes it unstable even when the RAM is running lower than 240Mhz.

Using a VapoLS - Had it running like this for about 3 months now. Still a lot of room for improvement but its 100% stable atm.

Maybe it is a little OT.. but
What are the bests 2-3 steppings right now for +3800 X2? I saw the "database" of the first post but it doesnt have enough results..
And other question..the steppings of the opterons DC and the X2's are comparable? If in opterons a 0605 (for example) one is the best, in X2 should be good too?
Thanks :)
I've just received a new 3800+ X2. Is a manchester core 0605DPMW

Guys, what's about Toledos of 0601 (4400+). Won't it be a mistake for me to take one? As far as I understand, those few weeks (before NewYear and after) were devoted to the selection of best chips for FX-60? Am I right? I have the same stepping and I'm curious as well, although after a systool find max FSB run it seems to top out at 2500:mad: even with LDT = 3, VCORE 1.45, and 1/2 divider...strange thing is SYSTOOL also crapped out at 2500 with stock VCORE, LDT = 5(?), and a 1:1 divider:confused:Quote:

Just got a LCBIE 0618RPMW x2 3800+ from eBay (for less than what i would buy for it from a shop :) ) so am hoping for great things. ..
These steppings seem to go incredibly far on stock volts, but then not as further as one would think on more volts. . ?
I'm thinking that it should work well with RMClock. . .becuase of the low volts.
(It works well with my 3500+ Venice - 230mhz fsb, x11 multiplier. Down at 1.4ghz when I'm not doing anything intensive and then it ramps up to the full 2.53ghz when I do. IMO, every overclock on stock volts should be teamed with RMClock, I can't see any disadvantage with it.)
I've just bought a Scythe Ninja Plus so I'm hoping that will work well with it.
Does this make the list? On air.

Well I am extremely dissapointed on my new purchase =(
I recently got a 3800X2 939 Manchester
0623 XPMW not sure of the first 5 letters but its the common ones on here...
Im pretty sure this chip sux and I really wanna exchange it grrr....
its not stable on anything above 2400mhz right now...it takes 1.47 to do that even stable. I tried 1.38v at that speed but BSOD with prime runnin both cores =(.
I verified it wasnt my HTT limit on board, cuz I lowered multi and ram and cranked the HTT to 280+ and I know it does 295mhz with my single core 3000+
I know the drivers are installed correctly I did it per recommendation of first post in this board. I also correctly switched HAL's to ACPI Multiprocessor in device manager. I know it aint that, thats causing the problem...that would be even if it werent oc'd.
My RAM I tried both auto settings and manual settings all below 200mhz...
It wont even do 2.55ghz @ 1.52v =(
My temps are 35C Idle @ 2.4ghz 1.47v load they approach 50C
My motherboard is Biostar Tforce6100-939
Im so pissed ... anyone have any ideas?
Thinkin about just putting my 0517 3000+ APAW back in here which can run 2.66ghz on this board just fine!

This is my first OC, and here is what I got. I have my X2 3800+ running at 2.6ghz with 1.45v and HT 4x, idle temps of 31C-33C and max temps at 44C-45C, using a Thermaltake Big Typhoon. Still trying for 2.7ghz stable.
Just hit 2.7ghz, it is topping out at 53C-54C at full load. Is that a decent OC? 700mhz at just over stock temps?
EDIT: AAAARRGGGHHH!!!! My PC froze! 2.7ghz is not stable for me, looks like 2.6ghz is my limit.
I have mine to @2.7GHz to 1.55V.
Oscar
I had mine at 1.45v @ 2.7ghz, do you think upping the voltage might help make it more stable? It was at 54C, so I can't do too much more with it, but do you think upping it from 1.45v to like 1.5v would make it stable?
Of course! My X2 is fully stable 10h primer95 stable. ;)Quote:

Prime stable, but fails to load win @ 270x10. Havnt tested it more than that, Im in the middle of moving :D
Ok, so you think that if I up the voltage from 1.45v up to 1.50v it will be stable? I will try that out later today. If I can get a 700mhz OC that would be great. As of now I am already at the levels of an X2 5000+, so I am already saving like $350 just from overclocking. If I can get 2.7ghz and still stay at under 55C that would be sweet.
Although at 2.7ghz @ 1.45v it was hovering around 54C when it crashed, but it was running for about 30min-1 hour so I might be able to keep it arouind 55C if I put it at 1.50v. And just for the record these temps are using speedfan, but from what I've heard speedfan is very accurate. Ok, I have it at 2.7ghz, 1.50v, and HT 4x. Lets see how hot it gets.
Ah man, I am not liking this. It is at 57C and rising. Is that something to worry about? I heard that 60C is the absolute limit, is that true?
Your computer will shut down if the cpu gets to hot, AMD has a built in security. BUT I would think about all my other settings before raising the voltages on cpu more, cause at 1.55 there are reported deaths, so unless you have phasecooling or waterchilling, I suggest that you lower it to 1.525 or lower. I'm able to run my x2 3800+ at 2.85ghz at 1.45 volts, so you understand why I think your volt is high? :) Lower the HT to 3X, Set the ram divider to 166/333, and cpu multi to 9x and you can push your cpu higher if your motherboard is up to it. Mine is stable even over HTT 300..... last overclock I had stable was this.... :Quote:

My RAM is good for as high as I can OC, DDR400 at 333mhz. If I lower the HT to 3x won't I then have to OC higher so that my performance doesn't drop? Or is the performance from HT 3. the same? I am at 1.50v, not 1.55v. I will try HT 3x at 1.475v and see if the performance is the same.
I can't get it to boot at 1.45v no matter the settings. I don't know why. I have it at 1.475v and it is good. I can't even get it to boot at 2.8ghz though. I tried 1.50v with HT at 3x and it didn't boot. 2.7ghz is my limit.
It just may be the stepping on your cpu won't allow you any higher, or your motherboard won't overclock as good. Try setting your ram to 2T and see if you get any changes, I've noticed something about my power supply, when I have more than two harddrives plugged in I am more limited with my OC, but if I only have one or two harddrives, everythings fine. Not enough amp's I guess. Only a peak of 31 amps on two 12volt rails. 29 amp stable, 31 peak. So I guess I'm living on the peak! :woot:Quote:

it can only do 2.8GHz max on stock vcore....and more vcore doesn't even help it overclock more - maybe its my mobos htt limit though, an old nforce3.
i run it 24/7 folding @ 2700 due to high temperatures, need to buy a better heatsink/fan.
What about removing the IHS?
I'll look into removing the IHS, is it safe to do this though?
I've got a feeling the wall at 2.8GHz is my old mobo not liking over 280htt.
got it upto 3 gig stable on 1.55v but I have to lower my memory divider to 100MHz (133MHz Divider doesnt POST) so Im best off leaving it how it is as its actually slower at 3 gig with that divider than it is at 2800 with the 166 divider.

old but still working :) max 3.21ghz stabil :) not bad with hs on and bad tunet SS
That´s what i got so far, 2,6ghz@1,48V, also Primestable (primed for ~8h). Highest Boot into windows without overvolting was 2,9ghz@1,65V. But i´m still testing :D

All prime stables for 5 hrs b4 I stopped it
Pass Super PI 32M test
Couldnt do better than that.. the m/b offer the CPU voltage up to 1.400 -_-

Bit confused about where the in place to post OC's is atm since their are quite a few in the discussion thread!
Anyway, thought I'd post my results since I prolly won't be running these clocks day to day.

I did some breif stability testing at 11 multiplier (form earlier testing)
http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/1...ed22lh1.th.jpg
Now I'm pretty happy with these clocks, but for pure experimental purposes I am NOT happy with the bug this CROSSHAIR mobo seems to possess.
Essentially 1.55v is the highest Vcore I can get out of it, Regardless of what I set it to in bios (can set upt o 1.85 iirc).
Very frustrating as I can do suicide runs at 3.25ghz if I get the water cold enough, and keep load temps under 50. but I'm confident I could actually get it to run much faster at 1.6 (not willing to go higher than that anyway, even on water) coupled with chilled water.
Not an issue day to day though, as Due to my sys being a comprimise between silence (passive watercooling) and performance, my day to day clocks are 3.06Ghz @ 1.45 set Vcore. Runs this extremely stable (havent 24hr orthos yet, but been running non stop for days and days, + playing games, etc).

DFI LP UT NF4 SLI DR Expert
1.7 vCore
Zalman 9500AM2
2x 512 MB Twinmos
it has one bad core that does 2.6 GHz prime stable (1.65 vCore) and the ohter goes up to 2.8 (too bad both cores have to have the same clock:dammit:)
I have an 3800+ X2 Socket 939, stepping available if you want it!

I'm trying Super PI and pass 32M but when try Orthos option Blem test not pass 15m but test CPU only pass >5h. Are the memories false or Vcore is too low?
Hey Newb. Nice OC for that chip :)
I think you'll find your CPU-Z is reporting V-core wrong though. Mine does the same. Maybe it's Windsor compat thing. Try a mobo supplied app like PC probe for asus (example), OR dl Speedfan http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php , and check the VCORE 1 voltage (NOT vcore 2) , it reports correctly for me.
Cheers
