Ram walls at 270MHz regardless of voltage (2.75-3.15) which is a major letdown as I let
go of my BH-5 to get this supposedly sick TCCD. Might RMA if newer TCCD is worth it?
The processor also seems to wall at just over 2.7GHz regardless of voltage (1.45-1.75) or memory divider.
This DFI has been treating my TCCD rather brutally though, I know this ram can run 310MHz
CAS 2.5-4-3-7 1T because it handled that 1:1 on my old chaintech VNF4 ultra @ 7x310MHz,
but I cannot for the life of me, regardless of how loose the timings, pass 270MHz with stability.
I might just pop this 3000+ in the Chaintech when it's back from RMA just to see...
Maybe it's the venice that doesn't like your TCCD? Was the reported loss of bandwidth vs winchesters only in TCCD and not UTT or was it both?

300*9 at 1.375v wc ?
so you think that better cooling gets less voltage needed for same setting ?
Actually it turned out to be the BIOS, 310P is much much better than any of the 510's.Quote:

Hi all, new to this forum :)
Im going to be getting a 3000Venice -LBBLE 0517 APQW on wednesday. Im using a Asus A8N SLI motherboard, most of you all seem to have DFi's is there actually anyone on here that uses a asus a8n sli for overclocking using the venice?
Thanks all,

If he also is using a dfi, will i be the first on XS to overclock a Lbble 0517 on a asus a8n sli? Saying that i havent seen no overclocks using an asus a8n sli.

What do you guys think should I get the 3000, or the 3200? Its a 60$ diff.
depends on your memory i think. With really good TCCD the 3000+ should work well, but if your memory won't go too far then you'll need a higher multiplier. 3000+ seems to be more "hit or miss" than the 3200+, that's why I got a 3200+, but i've seen some stellar results from the 3000+s. It's overclocking; there's always surprises.
Cooling is what :confused:Quote:

update: Found an excellent guide for my GSkill LE and runs 1:1 at 2.7G fine.
Also, to comments regarding true stability, SuperPi 32M is only my way to quickly assess the approximate stability of the chip without running Prime95 for 24 hours between clocks. When I think I've hit the limit, I'll prime it and back off accordingly until I have reached my desired speed. Also, when my XP90 arrives I'll be loving this even more. :D

GUFY, your 32M SPI result is terrible.... what's that, @100 divider for the mem? runnin 2.7GHz and a score of 40m+ is quite bad....
32M SPI means nothing for stability? yeah, right.... sure.... :rolleyes:
TodB : that's correct...
i can 32mb SPI at 320*9 very easily, while prime reboots my PC...
Overall i can bench/prime/play/spi -> 315*9 at 1.55v (1.5v cpu-z) easily :)
Gufy said that super pi 32mb pass means nothing for stability .....which is true

Hi all,
I need some help....
Ive got a Asus A8N Sli - Non Delux
Today i had shipped to me a lovley new 3000 venice, along with a A64 Freezer :)
The stepping is; LBBLE 0517 APQW
I understand that one user on here acheived 2.8/2.9ghz with this chip, however it was watercooled. I ran the same vcore as the guy (1.45vcore) and started to clock, went from 200 to 240, in 20 fsb increments. I reached 250 and ran super pi (aswell as @ 220 and 240) Super Pi came up with an error 'not exact in round' So im assuming it meant it wasnt stable.
Details;
Ram @ 2.85v, loose timings (3-4-4-8) Ram is OCZ 1GB 4400 Perfomance Series
cpu @ 1.45v
HT @ 3
Divider - 1:1
I need some help from the xperts ;)
Cheers :toast:
Gangstar :)
Run your ram on the 150 or 133 divider to rule out the ram. Then if still not able to pass super-pi up the vcore.
Some preliminary results:
3200 LBBLE 0516DPHW
Burning in ATM at 2.7 GHz, 1.675V using CPU Burn-in, error checking turned off. Surprisingly, temps just about hit 42 C. This is a bit off isn't it? With my 3500 NC, I would see temps of upto 52 C, 1.65 VCore. Surely something is wrong.
I will drop the VCore later tonight. Also, I could get to 2.55 at 1.4V (stock) and 2.65 (1.625V). All of these are Super Pi 32M stable. RAM was manually set to about 185MHz (2.5-4-4-10).
After snooping around these forums, hehe.. noticed there is a 1T issue, put the memory to 2T and currently at 290FSB * 9 = 2.6ghz :) @ 1.45Vcore. Super Pi 1Mb Stable, will do 32mb later on. :)
Hmm, wondering if someone can help. I got a 0517DPJW 3000+, and Epox EP-9NDA3J. I turned down the multiplier to 5x, and ram to 100. My HTT/FSB goes all the way up to 355 no problem. When I put the multi back up to 9x, I can only turn up the FSB to 280, for an oc of 2520. This is regardless of vcore, stock or +2.0v. If I even go to 285, bios, cpuid, everything reads as 9x200 = 1800. At that point anything higher, even 300fsb, says 9x200.
Voltages and temps are ok I guess. Is 2520 the max of my chip? I think it's a mobo issue right, that's why it's resetting itself to 1800mhz when i push it past 280 fsb. Oh yeah, the 2520mhz is fully stable after over 12 hours of prime95. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
tried a bios change?
Hehheh, 2T --> huge performance drop :fact:Quote:

Depends on the context. I see no visually noticable effects when I game with 2T. Just because your benchmarks dive, it doesn't mean you would see a marked difference in real-world performance :)Quote:

3000+ LBBLE 0516EPKW - 2718MHz - 1.792v - Air - 32M stable
reason it's a big update is becaus my "old" 2700Mhz clock wasnt stable for $hit and could barely run 1M. Oh, and that's at 1:1....so yeah, I'm pretty pleased so far....it's a lot of needed voltage compared to some other steppings, so this isn't THE greatest Venice out there, but if it's stable then all I care about is the clocks. I know I'm just temp limited too, cus when I could barely call 260x9 32M stable, I had my comp in the freezer (20C load temps) and I got a CPU-Z verified shot at 2.85GHz. Now that I'm 32M stable at 2718 I can barely wait to see what it'll do under the same temps....I might be taking things one step farther once I see how this thing does in the freezer (now) and setup my h2O (need a couple parts) and "add" a 226W Pelt.....should be lookin' at 2.9GHz+. :banana:
