Dothan will get the treatment maybe at the end of the next week.
Just read this whole thing and I hope you bash those SLI, AMD, and NVIDIA SCORE! :)
amazing scores there macci .do you use a special biose when running a mobil cpu ? or is it just anything over 200 fsb ?will the adapter work on a asus p4c800 e deluxe ? or even better with my dfi 875-t board ? how can i make sure its a dothan core and not a sonama core ? the ones they hav in dk seem to be sonama . are they just as good oc ?
Try reading the dothan OC thread in the intel section.Quote:

As mentioned above, there is one big thread and several other smaller ones dealing with the Dothan and the adapter and such. This one is macci's show.
Macci:
Does the P4P have the same problem with not locking PCI/AGP w/ ATI cards?
Do you measure vcore in any other way than thru bios/software?
I wonder what that could be :DQuote:

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not Bennah.
Small update with a 'non-OC' 3DMark05 run:
Dothan at 2.4G (12x200)
X800XTPE at default clock (526/573 for my card)

Pretty good with basically 'default' clocks =)
The setup I used for the MArk05 single card record of 9591 scored (only) around 6150-6200 w/ X850 at default clock and FX at 3G or so.. ;)
Lookin good man :)
Let er' rip macci :toast:
Nice! I guess the competition is going to be heating up around here. :)
So you think x800 may be better for 05' than x850? Never tried..Quote:

how much do you get w/ x850 default clocks and somewhat similar cpu speed?
anyways 6.6k ain't a bad score for a start =)
I remember that in Mark03 the setup that just (barely) hit 10k would do 7k with default video speed (CPU was at nearly max speed for 7k thou).
and thats also true :DQuote:

I already know this to be fact ;)Quote:

I'll see if i can dig up some runs I did at 2.6ghz(200x13) w/850 on 5.5 cats. I posted them somewhere around here. Also, the 5.6 cats give about 150 point boost for me over the 5.5's. Did you get a good gain too macci?
So Macci/Kingpin, can we get this clear? Which is better clock-for-clock in 3D-2005, X800 or X850?
We already know that in 3D-2001 X800 is faster clock-for-clock, but I thought that in 3D-2003/3D-2005 they were equal?
Just wondering b/c I am hoping to get a new AGP card next week, and I am having a lot of trouble deciding between X800XT PE and X850XT PE, since they are same price :)
so.. cant you set cas1 on those asus boards?
8k went down fairly easily with all aircooled setup
CPU at only 2.7G, card speed wasn't that high either => 661/648

I guess somebody wants to add first to 10k single card in 05 to sit along first to 10K in 03 as well. I would imagine the hunt will be less difficult this time though it seems from these initial results. Good luck.
Regards
Andy
Maybe :DQuote:

And lets not forget first to 10k in 2001 too :D
But its still a long way to go but the results I've seen so far are promising. I wonder whats up with the driver being detected as 'non Approved'. The version 6546 is approved and this 6542 is also offical CAT 5.6 driver downloaded from ATI site. I'll try to find the 6546 version and see what it does.
Here is one closest to yours that I have at 2.6ghz(200x13) 590/648 with cat 5.5:
http://pic8.picturetrail.com/VOL256/...6/97680662.jpg
Figure with same core card clocks as yours and the better drivers, I would be probably be around 7700-7800 or so here with x850. I never messed with the timings on the card, only straight clocking. So your looking really good there man. 10k single card 05' would be a killer acheivement macci. I have a few more hundred points possible with my x850, but that's it. No way I'll get over 9700.
ok no need to play with other drivers the 6542s are FM Approved now too.Quote:

kingpin, found a comparo for that (7036) one done w/ X800XTPE at 590/627 and CPU at 2603MHz (217x12):
7328Marks
So yes the clock to clock difference seems to be some 300Marks (slightly lower card mem clock but a bit faster driver too).
I've done some score calculations but not sure if this hardware can actually hit 10k or not. It should come fairly close thou - it pretty much depends on how far this Dothan goes w/ LN2.
If anyone can do it, it's you man. You will prolly need something like 3.6-3.7ghz + on your chip I bet. Defintitely not out of the realm of ln2. I swear these chips clock better every time I run them.Quote:

There was a little bit of LN2 left in the bottle after The Stilt's P4 world record runs. Only couple of litres but I decided to give it a go.
The setup for the run was the usual:
M/B: ASUS P4C800-E + CT-479
CPU: Dothan 1.6GHz
RAM: Mushkin PC3500 2x256
PSU: OCZ 520W
VIDEO: ATI Radeon X800XTPE ES from Spring 2004
CPU COOLING: Chilly1's coppercontainer
GPU COOLING: R404/R23 cascade

Since there was only couple litres of LN2 I had to be quick :D
First a quick SuperPi 1M test:
http://www.akiba-pc.com/d16g/d16g345g.gif
3500 was a no go this time, might get there without the extra copperplate I used this time, also tweaking the CPU voltage might help. Anyways 3450 was ok.
Knowing that the CPU would do 3450 superpi I started w/ 3403 for 3D. First run was at 769/657 without memtweaks and it gave 8789.
Second run at 3403 and card at 786 MHz / 671 MHz:
http://www.akiba-pc.com/d16g/d16g_9112f.gif
CompareURL
For third run I tried 3450 CPU but it would crash halfway thru the test.
Fourth run was doing 3422 and 796/679 but it never finished since I ran out of LN2 :D
The card has done Mark05 at 817 core w/ the cascade. 679 w/ fast memtimings was running smoothly and there was probably some more left too. So there is some more point left but not sure if its enough for 10k. LN2 is a must for GPU but even then I'm not sure if it enough.
at 904/722 card clocks it would be a different story =)
Lookin good macci. Nice pics.
Can't wait to see what you can do with that agp card on ln2 :)
gg macci
i am sure you had a lot of fun from this :)
nice going macci, just free your mind on that chip and it will do what you want.
you don't like insulating?
ohh wel just a drive in bench wont do mutch harm:D
Simply :slobber: :slobber:
Nice run Macci. Hopefully with some tweaking next time u will get in the 21's. So close, just get it a little higher. Cant wait for 3500.
Really nice to see something from you, Macci.. It's been a long time :)
Yea and it will take atleast a month till I do overclocking again. Going for a 30-day Eurotrip tomorrow - first stop Roskilde! :D
21s Spi1M is not a problem, useing 11x would have done it I'm quite sure. Just went for max CPU speed and once that was found out did the 3D stuff. Like I said there was a very limited time on that bench session.

i've seen a couple of people post scores in the 31k-32.5k area's as well with some tweaks.
needless to say, im pretty happy with this 1.6ghz chip. it will do 2.55ghz with 2 3 3 6 @ 255 1:1. 32326 on the stock cooler with 1.44v. it may have been able to do that at stock vcore, but i did the u-wire mod and cant get my vcore below 1.44 now. :woot:
Guys, check this other threads on this forum too:My posts @ Dothan overclocking thread, first one with some not quite accurate statements, but others IMHO Ok! Resolving certain problems! Mods!

Was wondering macci which gpu would do better on the dothan the x800xt pe or the x850xt pe?
Hey MACCI i am not sure i understand the 200FSB/ 800FSB thing, do ij ust set it at ddr 266 and 200FSB in the bios from the stock 533fsb setting???
i have a 730 and P4C800-E dfeluxe and the ct-479 adaptor, i can't clock much when i set the ram in sync with the fsb ie 1:1 150/150. so if i jump right up to 2.4ghx and 1:1 200/200 it should boot even though i can't get it to boot at 160/160, that is if the cpu can handle 2.4ghz right???
I have just built a 770 and P4P-800VM combo. Can someone advise if the BSEL 800FSB mod is what I need to do in order to get 800FSB? I am in a similar situation to the guy above in that 1:1 (or 3:4) I cannot get it to 200Mhz.
To confirm, the VM has no FSB adjustment, just multi in BIOS. I want to drop the multi and trick the board into booting at 800FSB. I just need to be sure it has been done and will not fry anything (in fact can we not do it via the CT-479 jumpers?)
Thanks
there is a good sticky in the intel section. it has alot of good info on PM overclocking. :toast:
