VDD is RAM voltage, right? If that's true, what's VDDQ? I didn't hear of anyone in this thread modding IGPU, so I'm not even sure if I need to think about modding it when I get one. The only one I know for sure is VGPU. :stick:
I'm sure a few other people might like to know as well. Thank you! :)
IGPU = Overcurrent protection. Useful if you want to give more volts to your gpu but the card shuts down to prevent damage.
VGPU is obvious.
I'll let someone else answer the vdd and vddq. I think that they are the votlages for the ram, but not sure. I've often heard/seen vddq = 1/2(vdd)...but on my x800xl, vddq was almost the same as vdd. Unless the vmod on that link was wrong.
And here is my X800 XL and Winchester 3000+:

This memory is not getting along with my DFI. It used to do 2.5-3-3 upto 265 2.85v in my neo2. Now It wont even pass 250 3-3-3 independant of voltage without giveing me a really hard time about it. I'll give it another go bout 8pm (UK time) with the latest and greatest bios and see if anything is sorted.
The CPU on the otherhand has about 100mhz left in it.
Hi peeps, I got my card the other day, tis a Powercolor x800xl vivo with powerconnector and 1.6ns ram.
Ive got it under my waterblock and my max stable clocks so far are 460/550. Im amazed at the ram clocks Charlie is getting, have you volt modded the ram or is that at default, cos if the ram responds well to voltage then I will have to mod that as well as the core.
Temps according to riva tuner whilst playing hl2 read a max of 42C, 3d05 heats up to abt 40C
Will be looking at maybe flashing the card with x800xt bios (modified hopefully to reduce clocks) to see if i can increase the clocks. Happy so far with the card, just hope to get come more out of it!!

most definately!!Quote:

Set it all to high performance, man. No one cares how good your bench looks. :) It'll probably give you a couple hundred points extra.
Disable as many services and processes running in the background, too. Run it in Real-Time priority through task manager and do the multiprocessor tweak through device manager. Doing all that might even get you close to 30k with a little higher GPU/CPU clocks. :toast:
i set them all to high and put windows to performance , and managed to get it 3d stable at 2700 again. is vcore safe @ 1.66 and ldt 1.5 and 1.8 on chipset.. is that to high for 24/7? got 29492 check sig for link. how do you do the multi tweak? any others worth doing to help me make 30k
ctr panel>system>hardware>device manager>computer>acpi uniprocessor pc>driver tab>update driver>bottom bullet>select acpi multiprocessor pc
Now beware: ACPI Multiprocessor tweak sucks for 24/7 usage and it's not reversible without an O?S install... if you want 30K, plan on doing a fresh O/S install!!
C
maybe ill leave that one for now. any other tweaks to break 30k?
I think you're REAL close to your max... fwiw, acpi tweak would probably give 500 points...Quote:

Because of the increased temps at idle... on mt DFI it makes my fan kick on high frequently enough to irritate me, and this is my 24/7 rig...plus for gaming I'd rather keep the low temps.Quote:

This is my Sapphire X800XL on winxp 24/7 settings, no special tweaks.
Now running 460/580 artifacts free with a modded OCZ Gladiator heatsink and a low speed fan, vGPU 1.49v pencil mod, no sinks on mem yet.
With stock cooler it only goes to 430 core, I know is a bad one and as I see while adding volts my GPU in particular does not benefit too much from higher voltage, tried even 1.75v and only gained about 10mhz and A LOT of heat.
Just by switching to the Gladiator, core rises from 430 to 450.
In my case vGPU is not worth it.
Sorry my english guys, I know it sux. :p:

Does the 1.6ns RAM overclock that much better? I don't see many people getting above 550-600 with stock mem voltage, no matter the RAM type.
Probably that 1.6ns mems comes undervolted and "perhaps" with volts they do a lot better than 2.0ns, until someone try it this is only theory.

Is the power connector for the fan the same and if plugged in nothing is going to blow? I thought I read a post where the fan sparked when plugged into a card no longer working.

Really don't get why the mem just won't run any higher, it's rated 1.6 so it should run 600 pretty easily right?
Going to try pencil modding it for the second time, already did it once, but the resistance was stil lthe same after about an hour of trying, must be doing something wrong.

What cooling is everyone using on there RAM? I've left the little heatsinks on the top of my card and they dont seem to get that hot, not as hot as my big copper ones do on the bottom if theres no fan blowing over it, guessing the tape they use really locks the heat on the RAM. Might change the little ones to some nice tweakmonster ones like on the underside as i have them lying in a box ready.
Done a test 2k3 run, computer hadnt been restarted for a day or 2 and got 12504, unfortunately i cant just select the needed tests as i dont have a proper copy so it takes ages to run.
Any really good tweaks for 2k3 as i havent done any yet.

Hi peeps,
ive managed to flash the X850XT bios onto my X800XL after modifying the clocks with rabit1.7, but i gained absolutely nothing. I would like the bios greg101 (the guy over at rage3d) used before I denounce that flashing most definatley doesnt help.
I used both the ATI X850XT reference bios + the sapphire X850XT bios but both showed exactly the same behaivior, no overclock improvement on the core.
hope other peeps also try to flash the bios and report back their findings, it was pretty straight forward.

Whoops wrong thread, doh
whats safe to go upto on the vmods on the x800xl? on water for gpu. anyone done then to the connect3d x800xl yet? did they work

Where's the DI??? :D
I'm gonna be in with my new BBATI X800XL on water and vmods next week.
İ want buy a sapphire x800xl and artic cooling 5
But it hasnt got power connector.
This is big problem for o/c
No, in theory the lack of the power connector is NOT a problem for o/c. The PCI-E bus should provide 75w of power to the card, which should be enough for the card. I thought the new PCI-E revision allowed for 150w...but I could be wrong on that.Quote:

Where did you get this information? I am sure the DFI can provide more power than spec'ed because it has a couple of extra power connectors there.
I think it was maybe someone on Hardforums...I'll see if I can dig it up though.
n/m...here's a link to the PCI SIG...
http://www.pcisig.com/specifications...ress/graphics/
Good info.
1) Is there a date on it? Can't see one.
2) Do any of the manufacturers tout implementing it?
My pci express bus specification is version 1.0a :)
That link doesn't say about anything "a" version. Besides, just because the PCI-E specification allows for 150W, it doesn't mean that the mobos implement it. I wonder where the 75W figure I had in my mind comes from.
I use this one fore my PC x800xl http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.p...1&data=7&disc=
gona clock tomorrow It´s been doing 450/560 Atitool 0.1.24b.3 but I got more time to check it tomorrow and in a closed case at room temp 22 celcius
but I will try ATITool_0[1].24b6.exe in stead
not sure...but I do know that I saw a review of the Fortron Blue Storm that mentioned that Fortron themselves had said that the BS would only be able to supply 75w to the PCI-E bus. I used google to find the review. I was tossed up between that one and the OCZ Powerstream.
İ have got tagan 480w
sapphire has got two different pcb red and blue
Which pcb is good
they should both be the same pcb except for the color. I've seen some pics of both the red and blue pcbs and they were identical (except for the color of course).
Charlie is that a BBA X800XL? If not, what brand is it?
Yeah mine is straight from ATI SHOP, BBATI with the "inferior 2nS ram" that only does 612mHz... hehehehe.Quote:

I wonder what I could have achieved with some voldmodding? Im running the DNA-drivers atm, havent tried omega yet - worth a shot in the chase for 30K 3Dmark01 ?
Yeah and BTW hello :) my first post here
Welcome to XS
You're running good clocks but your score in '01 is very low. Charlie had some excellent tips in this thread. You should break 31K on that hardware, especially with a vmod.
Yeah with the voltmod guess I could get above 30K, presumeably raising the core clock. Ive noticed that just by raising it a few mhz will increase the score with quite a few points. But anything above 465mhz will end in freeze =)
We have nearly identical systems, you should nail 31k easy... your clocks are really good for stock cooling and stock volts...Quote:

Firstly i have a CPU which is benchable at 2760mhz (270x10 2.5-3-3-6)
Secondly my card is good for benching at 490/610. I have it under my waterblock and is idling at 29C and running at 35C under full load. I noticed that Charlies card is only air cooled and has a ambient temp of only 16C. Is that with cold air ?!"?
I cant imagine my card running that cool, I have a very good connection with the core, good pressure. I know this cos my ram is benefiting from having a cooler pcb. Im running high volts though, for 24/7 use ive been using 1.65v on the core and 1.90v for the ram, this gave me an ati tool stable 470/570.
Giving the core an additional 0.5volts, has allowed my core to hit 490mhz, ive benched with 493mhz but anything higher than that I lock up.
Anyone do the second vmod for the gpu? Ive only done the vcore mod, does the overcurrent mod help??? The mem with 2.0volts benches at 610mhz, can I give the mem more volts (i know i can ;) but would that be safe-ish)??
Anyway now for some verification, im benching at 2760mhz (see first part of post) and card at 490/610 and im getting 30400 on 3DM01, this is on a clean install of windows2000, with directx9.0c SP3 and Cats 5.3. Is their anything I should know abt which directx version I should be using, and wht drivers also? Im not connected to the net at the moment so any advice on wht drivers I need so when I get online I know wht to download (library internet time is restriceted to 6hrs per week :( ).
Looking at some of the scores I believe im short of around 300-500 points. Im hoping that a combination of tips I could get from you peeps will get me the points (assuming u follow my belief tht my score is indeed a little off) tht i want
:D
Anyhow i check this thread later tonite and tomorrow morning, i want to break 31k and i can squeeze a bit more out the card and some tweaks i think its possible. I have a DFI Ultra-D and I havnt tweaked any of the advanced bios settings (know internet again :() Any advice on those would be well appreciated.
Anyway thanxs 4 reading, i got some munchies here and a biska needs rolling

Actually, the ricky tweak should let you get a few hundreds points more. That's what I would try 1st.

Hmm, maybe I should install windows 2k on a spare drive and give it a go. Whats the best drivers to use for the XL? I run my 3000+ at 3050 24/7 prime/superpi games stable, I was just messing around and bumped it up to 3100 for kicks.. Chips been the best $130 bucks I ever spent :D

you can use ATITool or ATITrayTools to monitor the BBA x800xl's temp. Just be sure to get the latest release of either of them.
