Ooooooh, coat hanger... nice idea!
Did you stick that coathanger underneath the screws that attach the mobo and the case?
Yes, used a pair of pliers and made a small loop in the end of the wire hanger. Then Just used a slightly longer screw (case screw) to mount it.Quote:

Nice, nice.
Is that a Titan Siberia Heatsink with a Thermaltake fan mounted on top? Well 120mm fans are just predestined for RAM cooling :) Just the best size for that purpose.
No , it's stock Heatsink :toast:Quote:

But as I said, always nice to see simple and fully functional mods as yours. Best invested time vs. performance gain ratio. :D
Very good idea, it works even better with a K8N Neo2 since the mem slots are closer to the cpu socket. I have lower temps compared to stock 74mm fan even when the enermax is @ minimum rpm. :toast:Quote:

The side fan blows over the RAM, but if I get some RedLine or VX I'll need something better. I'm currently running Kingston 512MB Value :(.

My ram cooling consists of my XP-90 mounted so it hangs over my ram, and blows over it. It works out well, because my XP-90 fan increases in speed when the CPU temp goes up. The SmartGuardian DFI Software does it. Usually, when the CPU is in heavy usage so is the ram, so it cools the ram and cpu under heavy load and light load :).
When I am home I will post a pic of my ram cooling.
I've a fan above my motherbord above the ram so it sucks al the warm air.
and opposite my cpu a fan what blows.
works quite well.
TCCD does +-280FSB.

any ideas how to suply this with a 3-pin molex con from my fancontroller?
Heres an update on my cooling. I'm going to get the Mushkin XP4000 and vmod my board to 3.3V so I can run 2-2-2-6. I used Meccano, and, well just look.

I noticed there was poor contact with few of the chips - some appear to be on slightly different height than others.
Bad contacts didn't have any apparent negative effects though. They (actually my memcontroller) max still out at 256MHz 3.2V.
Still enhancing my cooler.. Also solved the problem with high temps on the powercuircut for the memory (4V jumper). The copper heatbridge take care of that PS! More to come :)

ArticOC your rig is awesome!!! You easily have the highest clocked passive A64 right? Definitely make a thread in the SilentPCReview pic gallery (hell, go ahead and submit a worklog/article), I'm sure a ton of people would love your mods.

Nothing you already haven't seen. Still though this 92mm fan keeps the whole area nice and cool. Even when running 3.5vddr the pcm chip is kept under control. A thermal probe attached to the heatsink right next to the ram slots without the fan registers 80+°c and with the fan it's in the 40's. Show's what some active cooling can do.
I know exactly what you mean actually :slapass:Quote:

And how it hangs on the board:
The frame is slightly smaller than the ramslots, so it snapps on... on the ram "snappers" hehe. Bulletproof solution :)
Very nice crafmanship, although it seems that not all the chips make proper contact?
Did you gain any more MHz on your ram after this mod?
The one pic was one of the first tries. Now all the chips have full contact. I won 11mhz extra. From 260 2-2-5 to 271 2-2-2-0 stable. The water have about 15 degrees. In winter time when it will be very cold outside about -20°C I will try give the bh5 -30°C. The water is phase change cooled to 15°C. Lower I have to insulate and insulating for rams is not so easy. So when it is outside cold I don't have to insulate. I hope for 280mhz :D 32M Super Pi.

Fortunately, I have a mach II gt block and a MSI Neo2 Platinum that works perfect for sitting two 80MM fans on top of the block and allowing the power cords on the right to hold the fans in place.

Hey where can I get some of those heatsinks Bladesinger?
I purchased them here in Slovenia. They cost ~2 $ per piece.
In Australia, I don't have a clue.
I think they are videocard memory coolers (2 pieces came in
the box) - similar heatsinks were found on the GF2 cards :D
What brand are those heatsinks?
And dit you gain any mhz with it?
My ghetto ram under a fan. 2x256MB Nanya PC2700 @ 145MHz (2.5-3-3-7-2T)
I should really tighten down those timings, lol.
Soon to have some Crucial Ballistix.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...id=40041&stc=1
I was feeling really lazy so I just snapped the pic through my window. :slap:
About the brand - No idea  As far as I recall the box just states
ram cooler - no manufacturer. If I see it in the store I will check it for you
(probably Monday).
No, havent tested it yet. Naked they did about 244 Mhz on 3.1v +.03v option
on the DFI NF4 (bios reads ~3.19v). That was memtest #5 50 pasess - can't
do more than 3.1v with my current PSU (it's a 20-pin Chieftec 420W PSU  ). Santa's bringing a new one :D
But I intend to run a few test in the following days if there will be enough time.
Thanks in advance dude!Quote:
