Well the 10.15s alone didnt fix the problem but i edited it and raised the thtl to 1.4 and 3d to 1.5 and in the bios i raised AGP voltage to 1.6 and i can now get 440/1.15 stable in far cry and doom 3!!! So the 15.07 bios it had didnt work for my card but yet it is supposedly newer? :confused:

ok guys I was having problems flashing my BFG 6800GT to an ultra I tried the BFG ULTRA BIOS and didnt work.I also tried XFX ultra bios and it didn't worked either NOW...I tried the new bios at MVKTECH
the ones from BFG REV2 and flashed those into my card and boooya!! it worked no problems :) the card is stable no problems whatsoever!!!!! (I HAVE THE BFG6800GT WITH THE DUAL FANS) so if you were having the same issues try those bios :):banana:

@ Mavke: u should place a "direct-download"-button next to every BIOS-file instead of linking to a new page with the download-button ;)
would make it easier to download a few, for testings ;)

Ok.. I just flashed my 6800NU, and kicked up 3d volts from 1.4 to 1.5.
I did not see any increase on my OC.
Am I suppose to also change 2d volt and Thrt volt?
Also, where are the points on the video card to do a reading on it with a multimeter?
Any input would greatly be appreciated.

Could someone plaese help me? In the OmniEtremeEditFX version 1.5 I can change the voltage for all 3 values 3D,Throttle and 2D. In the Core/Memory speed section I can only change the 3D and tthe 2D speeds. Throttle is an option but it just has dashes there and I can't change it. Also the memory timings are the same way all dashed out and I can't change them? Is that how it is supposed to be? If I am to get around the throttling issue what do I need to change? I don't know if you guys know this but throttling also effects 2D? If I go to PC Pitstop and run there test which tests 2D while my card is throttling I only score 100 points where if I run it while not throttling I score over 600?

To get rid of throttling try set all voltages the same as 3d and the 2d clockspeed also to the 3d value.
Memory timing editing for 6800 is not implented yet but likely to come.

It is throttling because my GPU is running under 25C. Whenever it hits 25C or under it throttles down because it doesn't understand why it is running so cold.Quote:

I will flash my card tonight and let you know how it went. I already saved my stock BIOS with the -b command. To flash it I just need to type nvflash -fNEWBIOSNAME.ROM [ENTER] correct?
the voltage changes wont work for me in 1.5 or a 1.4 i only have 3d speed displayed but 2d and 3d volts. ive tried every combo but i get major arts halfway through 3dmark and and artifacted bsod.
xtremetheme im gonna measure the volts with my dmm on saturday in the differnt modes but had anyone found this too?
yo section8 make sure your bios is 62kb. i flashed to a 61kb bios and took me a few days to get my card working, thanks to mavke :D
Thanks I just looked and the modded BIOS is the same as the stock BIOS 62KB. I have a problem though. It will not flash no matter what I try. I am using NVFLASH version 5.06 I have saved a copy of my stock BIOS using the nvflash -bBACKUPBIOS.ROM command then I edited it using the OmniExtremeEditFX version 1.5. I then saved it to the floppy with NVFLASH and tried several commands but nothing happens. I triedQuote:

OK I got it to flash finnaly but:
I have NVFLASH version 5.08 and you OmniExtremeEditFX version 1.5. I made a backup of my BIOS by typing nvflash -b backupbios.rom and it saved it to my floppy disk. I then opened it using your BIOS editor and changed all 3 voltages 3D, Throttle and 2D to 1.5 volts. I also changed the 3D and 2D core and memory speeds to 470/1200. Then I saved it on the Floppy with NVFLASH and named it newbios.rom. I then went in to DOS mode and using nvflash typed nvflash -f newbios.rom and nothing happened but all the nvflash commands came up so I tried nvflash -p -u -f newbios.rom and still nothing happened. I tried several different commands and nothing happened but the nvflash commands popped up after each attempt. I finally tried nvflash newbios.rom and I think it worked. It said something about I should get a newer version of nvflash because it didn't recognize the file or something and asked if I still wanted to continue to flash to the new eeprom. I typed Y for continue and the screen went blank for a few seconds and then it said it was successful. I then CTRL+ALT+DEL and restarted my computer. Now when I go to clock speeds in the NVIDIA control panel it says 470/1200 even when I click set to default or if I click the NO OVERCLOCKING tab. So it appears that it worked but when I run the PC PITSTOP test which tests 2D performance along with many other things I get a very low score in the 2D test. Like it is still throttling. Before throttling I would get 600 points now with the throttling I get 100 Points? Did I do something wrong with the flash or did this not cure the throttling issue?

To check if you have throttling, try rivatuner. It monitors your clockspeed, you can see if the speed drops during a game or in windows etc.
The only nvflash version i could get to work with my 6800 Ultra was 4.42. My card is much more stable now but still wont oc past 440 without very random doom 3 reboots.

I DL'd NVFLASH 4.42 on your recommendation and it works perfectly for flashing my 6800 Ultra. The 5.08 was a nightmare but the 4.42 was flawless. Thanks again.
Wow I figured it out and the Riva Tuner fix seems to be defeating the throttling. Right now my temeratures are 15C and my clock speeds are 500/1250 according to the RivaTuner hardware monitor. So that means that the EnablePerfLevelForcing 1 did the trick. Otherwise it would be throttling down right? WoooHooo I am a happy man.......Thanks guys.
Does anyone know how to get low level overclocking working in rivatuner? Im using forceware 61.77 and it says its not officially supported, I guess thats why the low level ocing part is unavailable. Is there a registry tweak to force it to be enabled? Id really like to see if low level will get me higher clocks.

If you have good cooling set all the voltages to 1.5 volts. I think when it throttles it really throttles to the 2D setting so make them all the same to be sure. My throttling was 100% cured with the RivaTuner fix.Quote:

OK after some testing I have come up with some more information. If you read some of my earlier posts you read that I have tried many things to get around the Throttling issue and I thought it was the RivaTuner but now I am not sure? I disabled the PerfLevelForcing rebooted then clocked my gfx card up to 502/1300. I then opened the Nvidia control panel to see my temps which are at 15C right now so throttling should occur. I then clocked up the Video Card to 502/1300 and opened RivaTuners Hardware monitor. I was expecting to see the clock speeds at 475/1200 which is what I had flashed the BIOS to and expected it to be there because the card should be throttling at 15C. It was still running at 502/1300? So my best guess is that flashing the BIOS was the cure for the throttling? When I flashed my BIOS I changed the 3D, 2D and Throttle voltage all to 1.5 volts. I also changed the clock speeds for both 3D and 2D to be 475/1200. I am assuming that the throttling must be totally controlled by the voltage settings?
I dont trust that riva monitor.. cause i noticed some wacky results with it. Like it would stick on the 3d Speed then randomly do down to 2d clock speed.. I dunno...
What bios did you just flash?

xtremetheme, your biostool is great... I have a feature request. I think the 6800 cards has an operating range of 25C - 125C. To be able to change this would be awesome. I think Gainward has solved this problem though, cause they're selling waterchilled 6800Ultras and I suppose they start.
With my watercooling, the core does not reach 25C. ( It's cold where I live in Norway). Room temperature is ~ 20C. The problem is, the card woun't start with such a low temperature and when the graphicscard doesn't start, the computer doesn't.
How much voltage does GT cards like? I mean, with proper cooling 1.5v should be okay, right?

The GT handle 1.5V just fine (would've handled 1.6 and 1.7V just fine too with proper cooling). My 6800GT with a reference ALU-heatsink did handle 1.4V. (1.3V standard) Had an increase of about 4C (to 90C :S) while running 3Dmark. Though I've never tested 1.5V I think you'd better use a better cooler than the standard reference for this.

Hhmm... is anyone here having problems with 3dmark 01 after the bios flash?
I flashed mine to 1.4v, and everything seemed excellent. I gained over 20MHz on the core, from 410 to 430. 3dmark 05 ran fine, same with 03, but whern the turn came to 01, it just instantly locked up. Okay, so I lowered the clocks, but still the same thing.
I lower more and more, but it still the same thing. So, after alot of trying, I have come to the conclusion that I can't keep both core and memory overclocked at the same when running 01. If only one of them are clocked at the time, it runs fine. But as soon as I clock both of them it freezes. Really, really weird! Tried with 4 sets of drivers, and about everything I can think of. Everything else I've tried is fine, including: 3Dmark 05 and 03, Far Cry, Doom 3, Call of Duty UO.
Any ideas? :/

When I try to flash with 5.08 or 4.21 even, I get "PCI subsystem mismatch" 10DE.0000 IS rom AND 10DE.0205 is CHIP. I am trying to flash a PNY 6800U to get higher voltages and used the Nvidai n345.rom as a starting point and tthen saved the new voltages through omnifxbios program. Any ideas what went wrong? edit: the evgabios posted earlier here seemed to flash ok, but the 3d/2d overclock settings I saved in omnibios didn't seem to stick in the Nvida control panel (driver ver 66.81)
Like many others I want to thank Extreme theme for his great program, I now have my BFG 6800 Ultra running at 475/1230 Mhz which although not amazing is a nice boost :)

mh, one question. i wanted to edit the bios of my msi 6800nu with omniextreme.
but when i open the bios it looks like this:

Yes, unless theres an error and I doubt it, its at 1.4.
i have downloaded 6800nu bioses from asus, msi and bfg from mvktech and they all show 1.4V in 3d. so i guess thats right. :confused:
that seems weird that it would use more voltage than the GT, try pming xtremetheme it might be a omniextreme error.
I registered on this forum to thank everyone that has contributed to this thread... especially extremetheme and mavke. I'll be flashing (GT->moddedGT@U) next week and though i've never flashed anything before the info in this thread is more than enough to cover the entire process (including modding).

What's about timings? Will you ever release a new Version of your tool, that allows to edit the 6800-timings? It's proofen, that a card with GT-bios perfoms better, than one with Ultra-bios at the same clock-settings. It must be because of faster Timings on a GT-bios. But you eventually can clock higher with a Ultra-bios.
So what's about comparing a GT Bios with an Ultra-Bios to find out where the timings are stored and add a possibility to edit them to your tool?
According to Unwinder (Rivatuner maker) over at the guru3d forums it may be possible to mod the 6800LE/NU/GT/U bios into ignoring the hardware pipeline bridges at the back of the card so that all/selective pipelines are enabled by default without having Rivatuner installed: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?threadid=110067
Would you be able to add a feature like this into your editor, as well as adding an option for the user to alter the GPU temp shutdown temperature value?
Unwinder talked about adding a script to allow this (after user identified the working pipelines and VP), maybe you can work with Unwinder to allow the exported data from the next version of Rinvatuner imported into your bios editor for modding to unlock the chosen pipelines/VP by default.

Anyway to get 1.6-1.7v as an option? My XFX 6800 Ultra SLI super water cooled only moved from 450 to 477 with the max 1.5v on the 3d. I maxed all the voltage options and can only get the ram to 1230Mhz.

eVGA 6800GT w/ BIOS v05.40.02.15.01 dated 2/18/05.
Edited the stock BIOS using NiBitor v2.1 to increase vcore to 1.4V (from 1.3V) and GPU/mem speeds to 400/1100. Modded BIOS flashes fine but fails D3 ROE and 3D05 rather quickly even w/ stock speeds. This card will do 418/1200 w/ stock BIOS. What happens when it crashes is the monitor loses it's signal and I have to force shutdown the PSU. Resetting the sys won't do, I have to kill all power completely. So WTF? I've tried just increasing speed and leaving the voltage at stock, same crash/symptoms. I've tried flashing an eVGA Ultra BIOS, same. Is the problem just this card? eVGA? 6800GTs in general?
Well I think it might be just your card that can't handle well the 1.4v... Although just to make sure on the BIOS, are you able to provide the BIOS?
Yeah, first thing I did was to make a backup. NiBitor actually let me choose 1.6V when I extended the voltage table (1.4V was available w/out extending and 1.5V did not exist). But using 1.6V crashed much more quickly than 1.4V. Anyways, much appreciation and the highest respect to you, xtremetheme, and unwinder for even making this possible.
Here are a couple of voltage modified bioses in case you want to try them. The first is your stock GT bios modded to 1.4v with clocks of 350/1000. The second is an eVGA 6800 Ultra bios, which is at 1.4v also and has clocks of 400/1100 (still within your card's range). You can always change the clocks using Nibitor 2.1 later to suit your needs. :)

Or more to the point, if you can't use the bioses as intended, or at least until you have problems, then you would be just as well going back to using your original bios !!
i dont have problems i want to raise my core voltage for better overclock.
I can now change the 2d and 3d voltages but the throttle is grey'd out. So if i cant push that up then it will lower the voltage to much resulting in a crash
Where did you pick up this rubbish about throttle crashing your 6800 card. Have you seen it happen, and what tool did you use to measure what was actually happening ???Quote:

Why don't you just try the bios before inventing problems you don't yet have ?
Having the gpu at 1.4v is well within its spec, so no reason for you to have many issues. However, depending on how poor the heatsinking is on your card, gpu and memory chip temperatures are the main things to keep a wary eye on. Extreme temps have never helped with ensuring a long lifespan. Fitting a Arctic NV5 cooler to my Leadtek 6800le has not only made it run cooler, but also much quieter.

I have a Leadtek A400 TDH, unlocking the pipelines didn't work as got lines across screen with artifacts in 2d and 3d. This isnt to say it wont work for you as its pot luck from what i have found out about the core.
I upped voltage to 1.5v throttle didn't make any difference but still runs happy at 50d with stock cooler (i do have good case cooling though).
Only managed to get 380/820 with stock but with 1.5v it went to 429/880 but was slightly unstable, this put 3dmark 05 up 700 marks.
Runs stable at 410/850 and marks 400 more than stock so not to bad.
PS i only flashed and didn't clear the bios as had no pci gfx card if went tits up and didn't dare risk it :D
