anyone done benchies at same speeds comparing a "real" XT versus these flashed Pro's to see if they perform exactly the same ?
Does it have a yellow connector and a chip on the back? If not then it is a TVO like the picture shows. If so it's a VIVO.
LilGator
Paddy did some benches and his results are on a par with the real XT. They may not be perfect but they are damn close.;)
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/images/Enl...e/320871_A.jpg like that eh ?
BTW, does it have to have VIVO, or does the yellow power-connector make it an "XT" ?
WTF, neweggs description lied
Im not sure if this question has been answerd yet.
Has anyone got better clocks by flashing back the x800pro bios after this. From what I read, the pipes are still unlocked when you flash back.
No they are not better. With 16 pipes enabled they don't overclock quite as well. Guess the GPU has to work harder to handle the extra work coming from the 4 new pipes. As long as the pipes are enabled overclocking is not as good.;)Quote:

I'm thinking of starting a thread about Newegg horror stories. They are really sucking recently.
powercolor x800pro vivo sucess.
16 pipes enabled but overclocking completely sucks, not that it was great before at 517/571. Still going to play with it some but we'll see how it goes.
anyone smarter than i got a the original powercolor bios on hand?:D
Just pencil mod up to 1.4v and you'll be fine. That's what I did with one of my crappy overclockers. If you get more than 1.4v erase a little. Or better yet, do a real vmod.:DQuote:

So far, i flashed back to the ati x800pro bios, 16 pipelines still enabled. Flashed to a different x800xt bios. Now can push my card even higher. 550/620 and passed aquamark no prob.
could you e-mail your backed up bios plz shroom? also what xt bios allowed you to gain overclock?
mongoose@mechwarrior.tv
Yeah, to me also, please... the better overclocking BIOS... mollov@mail.bg :D
Or you can attach it here for d/l.... :)
heres the x800 pro bios i used
http://www.ocfaq.com/softmod/bios/AT....Samsung20.bin
your x800xt file is 296byte large, there is only the readme.txt in it.
BTW:
Connect3D vivo success here...
oops i cut it out of the zip instead of copying it.
Heres the right one with the bios in the zip, sorry for the mis-hap
I have a non-VIVO card. ( Coonect3D X800Pro with CG20 2.0 ns ram ) can i mod this one ?, and with which bios ?
hi again,
let me ask my question (or two) once more, as my previous one remained unanswered...
1. My fan on sapphire x800 vivo spins always at the same speed, regardless of what temp GPU is. Same at you? After i flashed bios (1. gigabyte xt 2. x800 pro), and oc`d 520/570, my screen freezed in 3dmark and farcry. However, since i connected fan on x800 to external PSU (cellphone charger @9v), everything is ok. Shouldn`t it spin faster when connected to PCB as it provides stability?
2. Did u marked tiny little switch on the rear side of PCB? (nearly the single screw) what is it for?
greetings
Rafal
Here is a little step by step to make it easy
1. Flash the Gigabyte bios with the utility in this file (bios and utility included). This will unlock your 16 pipelines but it seems to lower everyones max overclock. Gigabytes flash utility seems to be the only one that effects the pipelines.
( Use this command: GVF11 -P -F R80X256V.F1 )
2. Next flash the X800 Pro Bios with Flashrom v2.37. This will give you your Original overclock back most likely. It worked for many and you still get 16 pipelines enabled. (Use this command: FLASHROM -P -F 0 (bios name))
3. Finally, Flash the X800 XT Bios to make your card a full fledge X800XT.
(Use this command: FLASHROM -P -F 0 (bios name))
I cant tell if my fan spins faster or not, maybe someone else knows. the other little switch might be the switch for pal/ntsc but not sure.Quote:

yes it is..
aye, the first one (with a sign "ON") is responsible for PAL/NTSC system, but another one? it has two letters "KE", on PCB there is ViFRONT and ViBACK label...
okay, bear with me as i hate floppy's and dos :slap:Quote:

Just make a dos62 bootdisk, place flashrom and all its goodies plus the bios on the disk, i'll rename the bios to atix800pro and atix800xt to make it easy.
just flash by a:\flashrom -p -f 0 a:\atix800pro.rom
and a:\flashrom -p -f 0 a:\atix800xt.rom
?
exactly, i renamed them too to make it easy. x8xt or x8pro
did you flash the gigabyte bios yet?
Remeber that the x800 pro bios linked is a bin while the x800xt bios is a rom.
yea. im allready on 16 pipes but im down from a bad overclock of 517/571 to a horrid overclock of 500/500. Im going to see what this bios does then im pop'n off the hsf and give'n the as5 treatment. Hopefully i can get it clocking right.
the fact that the x800pro bios is a .bin and not a .rom doesnt make any diffrence?Quote:

Just make sure that when your typing in the flash command you put x800xt.rom not x800xt.bin.
k just wanted to make sure:toast:
okay. im on the x800pro.bin bios. back up to 510/571
11.6k 3dmark03 with quality driver settings. and my 3500+ at stock
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2726655
going to do a 250x10 and 510/560 run of 3dmark01se to see where it falls then i'll try the xt bios.
do you still have your 16 pipelines enabled? You should and most likly do but im just wondering
ooh yeah, great to hear its working for ya.
yup 16 pipes still working. only glitch is now when i enter my motherboards bios, that america blah blah blah detecting screen. Its now bright pink instead of black LOL. i dunno if i'll be flashing to that xt bios tonite or not. will keep yall updated
and its aparently to hot to run 250x10 right now even tho its 2am. Im damn sick of runn'n this stock hsf but ive been assured my V5 and rads have been shipped out. Hopefully one XLR 120 rad will be enough to get my chip out to 250x11 min. Since im fairly sure that the other xlr120 rads going to be cooling a maze4 with a 80w pelt lol. This card WILL overclock or may god strike me dead! i may go for one of those new vga silencers first but its hard to say.
here's my 3500+ at 233x10 3-2-2-8(my 24/7 settings) and my modded x800pro at 507/560. crap car low.
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7945909
for comparisons sake here's my 3500+ at 250x10 3-2-2-8 and my modded x800pro at 475/475
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7945847
i should be in good shape for well over 30k once i get all my cooling sorted out.
Also could someone do me a favor who has a modded pro or a legit xt thats working perfectly at 520/560 with the stock cooler. Run find max core on ati tool with the overdrive tab from the drivers open. Im hitt'n 75c during ati tools heat up phase at 510/560. somehow i dont think its suppoed to get that high, ive heard that x800xtpe's only hit around 60c loaded. If thats the case i can narrow the cause of my problem to bad contact with the core on the hsf and can attack the stock goop with hope of solve'n the problem.
edit**
well it seems even tho there was a gastly amount of goop used i was gett'n very good contact. i poped off the hsf and cleaned that all away and slapped on some as5. Temps stayed the same. 510/560 stays at 75c full loaded loaded but will sit there forever it seems and not artifact a bit(left it sit for 15 minites and hassnt budged off 75c) but at 515/560 during a 50second heat up phase it will hit 74c and start artifacting as soon as it switches back over to scan. Those temps "should" drop a couple of C when the as5 settles in just like it would on a cpu. I would still like to see some 16 pipe cards at 520/560 temps while scanning for artifacts(puts same load as heat up phase or so it seems) to use as a refrence. I also flashed to that XT bios this morning and didnt gain a single mhz:confused: So im going to have to do a pencil mod to get anything more out of this beast(anyone got a guide for me?).
I wrote down my core number since i had everything off.
R420
215RADCGA11F
GB8832.1
0420AA
and ive got GC16 memory chips naturaly.
Help me plz !
I have a non-VIVO card. ( Coonect3D X800Pro with CG20 2.0 ns ram ) can i mod that, and with which bios ?
Same (+/- 2 degrees) at me ! But, as i posted yesterday (actually it was a question, that still remains unanswered), i`ve connected x800 fan (which has a label 12 V) to an external PSU (mobile phone charger @ 9 V) and managed to achieve 535 MHz core at same temp!Quote:

So there goes my Q once more: IS THERE STH WRONG WITH THE FAN ? Why doesn`t it spin faster as GPU achieves higher temp? Or is it only my problem?
Add my powercolor to the list.
Flashed it. Restarted windows. New hardware found. Said it was an X800XT Platinum Edition. Checked atitool. 16 pipes. default gpu 520/default mem 560. is that right?
Was that i VIVO or a non-VIVO ?Quote:

My X800Pro just spins at full speed for a few seconds at bootup. Then the fan remains at same speed any time. (My VPU core goes up to 74°C)Quote:

Oh, and Ralfi Welcome to the European Union! :)
allso VIVO ?
yes the vivo version of the powercolor card. there are 2 different versions of the power color x800pro card.
thx, Gruess Gott!Quote:

Oh, and Ralfi Welcome to the European Union! :)
i`ve marked that already because of prices in stores ;)
Regarding the fan - i`ve measured vlevel (black and red wire) - until temp doesn`t achieve 70 degrees - it`s still 5,1 v, when temp exceeds 70 - voltage goes up to 6,3, above 80 degrees- 7,6v... no wonder that i couldn`t observe my fan spinning faster, as an increase 1,3 v is hard to "hear". I wonder how high temp would have to be to force PCB to give full 12 v ... I think it`s a bug (probably in BIOS), as at 82-84 degrees my card hangs, so fan should operate at higher speed earlier than at 70 deg.
Maybe some1 could fix it...
Regards
wow! your card hit 80+c? damn.
Also i found the pencil mod and removed the sticker so i could check my voltage. its at 1.32v. I'll prolly do that later and bump that up to 1.37~1.4 to see how she does then. only problem is i have never done a vmod before, pencil or otherwise. I guess just lay on 2 or 3 stroked of graphite, plug the card in with the hdd unplugged and check the volts real quick then lay on more or take off some to get to where ya want to be?
Also is the the default gpu voltage 1.3 or 1.4? there seems to be some confusion i guess according to another post. anyone confirm this?
No wonder this card didnt get badged as a XT.

Did a 3d Mark 2001 run at 545/625 got 26K
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7947199
in 3d Mark 03 I got 12.4k
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2729287
woot. well a little bit o' graphite and boom 520/560 stable.
lowered resistance of the r1597 chip from 418 to 402 ohmz and got my voltage up from 1.32 to 1.35(didnt want to get to ambitios)
12.2k x800pro vivo to x800xt(with proper clocks:D ) and my 3500+ at stock
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2729447
look about right?
looks good to me, specially with stock cpu.
damn this cursed thing. i cant run 3dmark01se. I can run nature by itself just fine. 260.9fps, but i crash in car low every damn time with my cpu at stock. It runs through 3dmark03 just perfectly fine, not a glitch to be seen anywhere.
any idea's?
okay this is really piss'n me off now. i rigged up my ghetto ass a/c duct and dropped my case temp down to 17c. idle temp at 520/560 is at 36c. Still cant complete 3dmark01se at 520/560.
is that on a fresh format?
ok. now thats just goddamn WIERD:stick:
aparently i cant overclock with ati tool without booting at those clocks. default of 525/573 lowered to 540/558 crash in car low, 475/478 profile clocked up to 520/558 crash in car low. set a 520/560 profile and set it as the 2d and 3d profile and 3dmark01se runs through without a hitch.
25.1k a64 3500+ x800pro modded to xt at xt clocks with a    :banana:e car low(about 17fps low)
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7947423
i did a fresh install when i got my card. so its 2 days old and ive got 2 games and 2 3dmark programs installed so far. and aparently that was a fluke. i tried to overclock my cpu to 250x10 thats a easy overclock with this a/c rigged up and the damn thing froze in 3dmark again. tried at 240x10 and 233x10 and again at 200x11 and they all froze.
try lowering your GPU core freq, you`ll probably pass it :]Quote:

nope, ive got my gpu clocks sorted. i can run 3dmark at 520/560 with the rest of my set up bone stock without my ghetto A/C hook up. i go to 210x11 and crash city, im going to reflash my bios to the 1005.21's and the voodoo dance cmos clear technique and see if i can get my cpu overclocking again.
If its not one thing its another :(
okay i finially fixed it. somehow the 1005.020 bios got me clocking right again. redid the vgpu mod to 1.41v this time(couldnt get it to go 1.36 again:confused: ) 520/560 perfectly stable on the gigabyte bios. ati tool now runs my core up to around 540(need to let it run better to know for sure where it ends)
230x10 1:1 x800xt@stock
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7948247
if i can bench at 535/570 with 250x10 3-2-2-8 on my 3500+ should be good for around 29k.
what a nightmare!
@ KoGeR|Max: This mod will only work with ViVo cards. But there are some ppl with a hardmod applied to their cards that flashed the GigaByte BIOS as well. That's it!
PowerColor X800 Pro VIVO SUCCESS!
Flashed the GigaByte BIOS and now have a 16 pipes X800 Pro.
Since my system hung several times I flashed back my original BIOS - 16 pipes still enabled.
(1) I tried different XT-PE BIOSes, but I can't run at 520/560 although ATi Tool reports my core temp not to go above 82°C. Can anyone send me a BIOS that may work (increased voltage, ...?).
Please send it to "yaphea at gmx dot net", thanks!
(2) AquaMark3 shows me 128 of texture memory only and reports 115MHz core/mem speed... why? And the ATi Ruby demo didn't run until I set my AGP Aperture Size to 256MByte... ??
(3) Does anyone know a BIOS editor for X800 BIOSes? I used to edit my 9800 Pro/XT BIOS to run my Sapphire 9800 XT (modded Pro with R360) at higher clock speeds and cannot find a version of RadEdit / .. that can handle X800 versions.
Thank you & greetings from Austria!
The problem is the temperature.... you need to lower the temp in order to get it stable @520MHz... higher voltage won't help... it will make it even worse.Quote:

ATi Tool reports 50°C GPU idle temperature (mb 32°C, cpu 38°C). The card runs stable at up to 515MHz / 600MHz where temp is rising to 84°C.
All I need is a BIOS editor to flash a XT-PE BIOS with 500MHz/500MHz... :)
Does anyone have the Overdrive panel enabled for a X800 Pro? I tried Catalyst 4.6 and 4.7Beta but the tab isn't shown.
atitool shows gpu temp?
You can have ATi Tool show the temp in the system tray...
I told ya - all you need is make the cooling a little better.... it's a little stupid to run your X800 @84C... :rolleyes:Quote:

yea 84c is very hot. my x800pro modded to xt with 1.41v 520/560 hits 76c full load, right now idle'n at 43c but its very hot and humid today. ive got a 120mm fan on a home made stand as kind of a card cooler set up tho.
I'll try it with the arctic cooling vga silencer :)
My card also runs very hot. 80-81 C under load. And this is outside the case, without mods. Guess I have to install waterblock as soon as possible.
Oh, by the way, Sapphire VIVO Success here :)
I'll run my card as Pro having 16 Pipes as long as I'm waiting for the silencer to be available in shops near me.
What's about AquaMark3 and 3DMark'03 detecting only 128MByte of texture RAM on my board? ATi Tool and catalyst (4.6/4.7Beta) both report 256MByte, but benchmark suites seem to fail detecting it correctly. And the ATi Ruby demo still won't run without having the AGP Aperture Size set to 256MByte.
Is there anything wrong or is this normal behavior?
Edit:
Here's my AquaMark3 results page (everything at default settings, 12 pipes): http://arc.aquamark3.com/arc/arc_vie...run=1286453271
It says that I've half the video RAM the card should have... ?!
Dunno, but I tried 64 MB AGB Aperture and Ruby runs just fine.Quote:

I'm afraid that there's something wrong with my X800... any ideas?
I could not find a tool that displays me details about my card (SANDRA or AIDA don't know the R420).
I'll try a few things (flash back my pro-with-12pipes-BIOS and so on) and hope to get a X800 compliant VGA Silencer anywhere.
Bad news for you, i`ve tried to re-flash original BIOS, and 16 pipelines still remain. I tried even flash it with BIOS placed on the same web-site (station-drivers r80p256d.f1) where the Gigabyte BIOS "4 pipelines unlocker" is placed.Quote:

Didn`t work for me, so we`re all most likely convicted to 16 pipelines till someone writes BIOS, which locks 4 pipelines.
What im wondering is if its the same 4 pipelines that are disabled in every card. I might have the whole pipeline thing misunderstude.
I have a backup of the original BIOS ("flashrom -s 0 fullbios.rom 64") and re-flashed it using the GigaByte flasher ("gvf11 -p fullbios.rom -f").Quote:

Using this method I can go back to my original PowerColor X800 Pro BIOS with 12 pipes any time I want - and it perfectly works :)
I'm thinking of ordering one when they come back into stock.
Is this the right card?
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...102-364&depa=1
 I didn`t try flashing my original bios with Gigabyte gvf, maybe that`s the reason why i didn`t locked`em again.Quote:

Nevertheless - how is your temperature after locking 4 pipelines? I didn`t check it before flashing so i don`t know whether my Sapphire runs veeeeeeeeery hot @520 MHz or only veeeery ;)
Core temps are 46°C / 76°C with 12 pipes and 50°C/80°C with 16 pipes. I can't go higher than 510MHz with 16 pipes enabled where core temp rises up to 86°C before Catalyst resets the card or the system locks up.
I'll go and get myself a better cooling before flashing my card to an XT-PE again.
Since I've played with clock speeds and different BIOSes Far Cry shows up very bad frame rates (<20fps 1280x1024). And 3DMark2003 build 340 still displays only 128MBytes of video RAM where dxdiag says I've 256MByte. Could be a driver issue or a configuration problem.
So playing around with settings costs me a lot of time where my wife isn't happy about :)
Wish my Sapphire x800pro wud mod to an XT :( current clocks are 590/570... passing 3DMark2003.... no volt mods... DangerDen waterblock :(
anyone noticed a problem running 256meg agp apt.? i cant pass 3dmark01se set at 256 but set at 64 it runs just fine.
i ducted my A/C into my case and at 520/560 im gett'n 33c idle and 67c load. so far ive been able to clock up to 540/570 at 1.41v and 16pipelines with this low ambient temp. ive also done away with atitool as i believe it fubared my registry on my other drive. 233x10 and 520/560 was all the higher i could run, 240x10 nd 520/560 wouldnt run also 200x11 and 530/560 wouldnt run. Now on a diffrent drive 250x10 and 540/570 is working perfectly. close'n in on 29k in 3dmark01se but i still havnt gotten a good car low run with this s939 set up yet and drag low's looking poorly for these clocks. Not sure what the cause of it is yet tho.
Pictures say no but discription says yes.Quote:

How can I recognize a VIVO card just by looking @ the card?
I wanna get one and I have to know i'v not been cheated!
I think , the thing that identify the vivo cards is the yellow connector near the power connector in the back of the card .
But the experts can say ir better .
I´m too wainting for a Sapphire x800 pro Vivo :D
Hope tha has 1.6 ns rams and xt core :D :D :D
all the VIVO's has XT Core / 1.6ns doesn't they? :o
Yes, it seems that all currently available X800 Pro VIVO cards are XT-PEs. They may just be re-labeled cards to satisfy market's needs or they didn't make it through the tests (too high temp/low stability/...).
My card's 16 pipes seem to run just fine, but I can't run at XT-PE clock rates yet.
@ yahirhem it seems you are austrian, from where did you get your vivo card?
I bought my card at www.peluga.at and it took less than 24h to get it :)
And yes, I'm from Austria ;)
hi im new to this site, but i must admit that it rox......
well this said i fount that HIS EXCALIBUR made a x800 PRO card that is similar to the VIVO with the yellow conncetor on it HIS vid card
does any1 know if they sell that card for real or if it s just a fake, if YES where can i find those cards ? atm it s so hard to find PRO moddable @ XT........ty.
Flashed my saphire and it worked. Clocks sucked before though, and they still suck :( but 3dmark03 went up, so I'm pleased.
Thanks guys
which model is it and where did u buy it from?
 Congrats man, yea we need more details
My card is a Saphire x800pro with VIVO. All the pro cards with VIVO are working though. I bought it in Canada a couple weeks ago from a fairly small store. What more details do you want? I made an msdos boot disk, put the bios flash/flaser utility on the disk and then typed the command line written a page or 2 back. Only problem is atm I'm getting weird icon corruption in windows, but games run perfectly.
the store name? i know that there is another thead for this, but both the sellers don t have the card now.....
I doubt they still have stock. But www.infonec.com is the site. They're about 20 minutes from my home, don't know if they ship online (doubt it...)
they say that they have it in stock.....
That gigabyte BIOS flash link is dead, does anyone have a mirror? Thanks.
Do you people think that the VIVO will clock as good as the XT?

No they are much porer overclockers than the XT. Many of the Pro Vivo's won't even work stabil at XT speeds. I got a couple of friends that have bought Pro Vivo cards, and they won't go past 500 Core.Quote:

Mine does exactly 520Mhz(1.3V). The Ram only goes to 561Mhz. :( Does the XT have higher ram voltage or are mine just crappy?
personally i d be happy to make them work a little slower but with all the 16 pipes and many $$$ in my pocket left......
woah these X800Pro VIVOs run quite hot from what i read, my Gecube X800Pro with stock heatsink was 36C idle and 66C load at 564/605
now i changed to Thermaltake Giant3 + 60x38mm delta 50cfm 8800rpm fan and get 26C idle and 42-46C load at 615/605

Got a Problem with the gigabyte flash ulity. Everytime i want to flash the new bios, the ulity says "This is a ATI VGA Card" and doesn't flash the bios!
Thank for your help
Partly success here.
I modded 2 GeCube X800 Pro VIVO cards with 1.6 Samsungs.
1 with 100% success, the other one partly:
Card bios upgraded succesfully to 16 pipes, but with artifacts as soon as 3D-action is involved.
Flashed back to 12 pipes and the artifacts was still there, so it looks like it was fubared from the beginning.
The artifacts doesn't look like it is OC related. I tried lowering to 300/300 with the same problems.
I have attached a pic of the artifacts and a pic of the core.
.
yea, HELP! i'm having the same problem!!Quote:
