what kind of ram and timings do u use?
Kingston HyperX PC3500 CH-5 memory @ 11-2-2-2 @ 3.3v and cpu @ 12x224 @ 2.15v
EPoX 8RDA+ 1.1 with the vdd and vdimm modded
Somehow futuremark always says 200 fsb
Still happy to join the club :)
Hmm you almost have the same setup yet 500 pts more... damnit ;)
3.1 catalyst I presume? ;)
Where can I get the extra points :D
3.2cat win2k dx8
but plz dont try, u will only drive me off 10th place in the wc charts :hehe:
Aha... well I've got 3.1cat, winxp sp1 and dx9.0b...
If that doesn't give me the 500 pts so be it ;)
I'm not gonna go Win2k or DirectX 8.x
I'll probably try a 172w peltier so I wonder how high the gpu will go @ 2.00v ;)
Damn I get busy building a new water cooling system and I get my a$$ reamed. Guess I'd best start benching again ;) Not like I can catch the mighty SAE but I think I have 23k in her. :D Phobix I'm ocming for you, just for a little Canadian rival fun :P
Hehehe... ;)Quote:

When I have time to bench again I'll up my score maybe 100points
Have to study a bit, one exam I had today..., tomorrow I'll be stressed again.
Maybe Friday then...
BTW Garrett, nice scoring on that 8RDA. :)
Danke, du Wichser ;) (just kidding my oc'ing friend :D )Quote:

Anyway, I've got everything watercooled, and I'd like to experiment with some ice cubes this week, I really want a 2750+ mhz benchmark, and that + is not meant as a rating ;)
Hopefully 2.00v on the gpu will make 500Mhz possible, but I'm afraid 23k is out of reach :(
Ah well... my goal was 22k, also because this particular thread is/was running :D
This is an appeal to you guys who are in contention in this old skool AMD race..... Please read my sig and if you are interested, talk to me.

I know you got it in ya! Let the games begin :D just like old times hey...Quote:

I got an extra R-12 waterchiller that I offered you some time ago, PM me if you are still interested... That could help considerably you in your quest, I just got my unit regassed with some R-12 and I am planning another benching run for this weekend. I think with the 4c water + the pelt, I will be able to feed the GPU with 2+ volts which hopefully will bring me to 500 core....
Gotta bring the good times back!Quote:

Hmm. I am afraid I don't have the knowledge to do that... I only know how to bench ;)Quote:

SAE what temps do you get with the mcw50-t?
Does it go below 0c?
I'm looking to buy a peltpowered (lol) gpu block and an extra radiator to handle the heat :)
Dunno. I don't have a probe there... but when I only switch on the cooling it freezes quickly... I doubt it gets anywhere near 0°C under windows... and with my voltmods.Quote:

So you're quite happy with it... good, cause I'm getting one tomorrow :D
I got that card vmodded too, 1.95v as we speak, and the back of the card doesn't even get hot, not even body temperature :)
My GF4 (rip) got hotter with vmod, I just want to go over 500 core with this card, and then artifact free that is ;) :D
It's by far not artifact free... :(Quote:

522 gets me really funny snow on the screen... hehe. Okay, not as much as 530 though  Only the white sh1t anyway... sometimes it seems as you could see through where the edges of the geometry/textures meet...
here's my best publishable so far.
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7847349
Here's best:
Garrett what bios are you using for your 9800Pro? It's only 128MB but your using a XT bios? Which one might I ask and have you seen an increase in performance? Also do you have R360 or R350 core?
Not bad iceman... could ya squeeze out tha last few points for 23k?
Yeah I hoping I can but I think that might be it at thsoe settings. Will try higher. Right now gotta replace the barbs on my block though (the damn thing wont come undone). After that i'll have to test to see if the DFI is still good to go.
lol 5 points! its like SAE when he needed 25k. :D
try diff drivers iceman (3.1, 3.5)
nice score nonetheless. :)
Yeah i'm using 3.5. Don't really wanna try 3.1 till i'm maxed card a set a goal.
SAE or anyone reading this do where's the vdimm check point on the board. I no longer get a reading in the bios. I tryed searching but found nothing.
Edit:Ok I found it. Whoa I was pushing 4.2V through these Bh-5 sticks. I was turning pot the wrong way.
So close but so far away... 24k will soon come...
23802
Managed to clock a little higher on the CPU, just shy of 3ghz... The awesome part is that I didn't vmod the card yet as I just got it today... I want to break her in slowly.. And for those of you wondering the 9800pro does make a difference from the 9800se I was Benching with before. It seems most related to the stock SE bios and probably is most likely due to CAS latency. The problem was I couldn't change the bios on the 9800se as the card wasn't hardmodded.
Hehe. I once got 3.88V dimm voltage due to a short circuit... could not even get into windows...Quote:

Yeah I got into windows no problem. You guys are so lucky with these 2.9ghz chips. I'm stuck at 2.66ghz, if anyone has a chip that does 2.7ghz on air i'm interested. The chiller needs a new toy.
phobix do you have any sinks on the memory? Mine get real hot without and that's only at 375.
How hard is the vsense mod to do? I've already done vdimm. I can't get over 1.9v vcore wtihout board rebooting. I'm sure this has already been covered but the vsense is for those going over 2.1v correct?
Vsense is not really needed. You should only do the vcore mod at pin7 and set vcore in bios at 1.825V. Then turn up resistance until you get 2V to 2.08V... more ain't stable.Quote:

Would that solve my porblems going over 1.9v? Also I want the pot set to 0 then turn it up to increase voltage correct (don't wanna repeat what I did with psu and vdimm)?
@iceman2g:
I am running without sinks on my Raddy as all is still running stock volts. My BGA's were not getting that hot last night, but when I will perform the VDD, VREF, and VDDQ mods I will make sure to sink the BGA as this will increase the heat some.
That's a beautiful overclock for stock voltage. The most mine will do stock is 495/375. I've tryed 380 but get artifacts, 500 on the core kicks be back to desktop more often than not so I can't get a good run.
Hmm I missed a whole bunch of replies in 2 days or so :DQuote:

Anyway, I'm using a Club3D 128MB 9800XT Hynix bios :D
http://www.mvktech.net/download.php?view.307
I could get about 10mhz more on the core, but since I got it vmodded that wasn't much :D
I have a 360 core
The card is a Club3D 9800pro 128MB with Hynix memory (2.8ns)
I get 7191 3dmark03 with non-FM approved drivers... not that I give a ~tihs~ ;) :D
What kind of BGA do you have? Is it Hynix or Samsung? I prefer Hynix as I have always had better luck with them over Sammies. However, as you know already it is the luck of the draw rule that applies here. Have you done any Vmods on the Raddy yet?Quote:

Hmm. I don't remember, but you have to set pot to max resistance with this mod (vcore)... otherwise the board would not start or even be damaged.Quote:

Could solve your probs... but I can only repeat what I said. Solder a 50k pot set to max to pin7 of the hip, then ground it, and set bios vcore to 1.825V and then turn up the voltage in bios till you see 2V or such...
Ok, but you got the sucker voltmodded right?Quote:

And I guess 500 core IS artifact free hmmkay? ;)
Dunno exactly as I recently changed pelt psu (400W antec at 12.6V -> load 12.3V) and reseated the cooler. But when I got the card last juli it was artifact free at 500 and stock voltage... but it wasn't this year anymore :( Have to check :DQuote:

BTW. Only snow, nothing else - with subzero it would very likely get less snow ;)
Well I have a few snow pixels @ 480, nothing in-game though so I'm hoping for an improvement with the MCW50-T...Quote:

Garrett did you do a comparisant at the same setting to see if there was any improvement using that bios? Clock for clock isn't the XT suppose to be at least 5% faster than the Pro.
I've been able to find nothing on a Club3D 9800XT 128MB. Aren't all XT suppose to be 256MB?
No I didn't compare them, don't expect it to be (much) different.
I'm aiming for the highest possible core speed :D
Hehe. The nature score alone is priceless ;)Quote:

The message in my sig still stands, btw. Does anyone fancy taking on the job?
some nice scores in this thread, would love to be able to break 22k with my rig but i just don't think it's gonna happen. oh well. maybe next upgrade

Been busy with exam - studies... I must apologize...
You can just send me a message, I should see it and answer (always shown as offline IMO)... in case I am on the internet rig :D

I get 20,045 points with my mobile barton at 2.6ghz (12x217) on a 9800pro clocked at 439/365. Looking at your setup one would think it would get atleast 24k or higher. I bet your gpu is crapping out at those clocks which can cause errors and give you a poor score.
Not at least 24k... that's nonsense. I needed 260fsb and 2.87Ghz to break it and that was done with everything enabled... (clocks on r350 equal)Quote:

He surely has APIC disabled to get this kinda clocks with the NF7! That's where the points have gone...
that score looks spot on for that systemQuote:

I had 20100 with a Mobile Barton @ 11.5x218 and 412/365 clocks :)
Well then i guess i was wrong. I figured 2.8ghz on a barton with a decent fsb of 232 and gpu running at 516mhz would score more then 22k. Then it came to my mind to realize how powerfull the A64 fx53 939 pin is considering it gets 22k with stock 2.4ghz and default 9800 xt compared to 2.8ghz barton using 516mhz gpu speeds. Now i wonder how much it would take for the barton to score 22k using stock fsb of 200 and default speeds of xt........im guessing 3ghz would equal fx53 in 01 ......what are your thoughts?Quote:

Hmm. Dunno... 3GHz is a very inaccurate if you don't mention fsb speeds... I saw a lot of peeps doing 3G, but mostly with fsb < 210/220 and that's another story compared to the bandwidth of 260MHz max timings and settings!
I would say I can compete with an FX53 at stock, but nothing more, and my system is helluvan XP ;)
So don't underestimate the real power of an FX!!!
The bandwidth is amazing and its design is by far more effective... integreated mem controller reduces latencies by a huge margin :D
@Garrett... :lol: ;)
What art thou laughing at? :(Quote:

/edit. How's your MCW50-T going? Any results yet? :)
Well it helps... I get 500 artifactfree but higher than 510 isn't a success ;)
I have a bad core I guess, although it's a 360.
I'll probably mod the mem as well this week, maybe next week, and then retry a couple of benches, gotta hit 7500 3dmark03 points :D
7371 is simply not enough ;)
Nice :thumbsup:Quote:

How much volt do ya feed it?
2.00v but I haven't tried higher (yet)
It just seems strange that (very) few people get 500 core unmodded and not me ;)
based on what i've been seeing/experiencing, r360 cores should be avoided. r360 cored 9800pro isn't the card to play with. r350 core can mop the hell out of the r360 cores in days and nights. :)
I would highly avoid it. Try to get a descent r350 core. They appreciate supercooling and vmodding more.
Or an XT pcb'ed 256MB ddr2 9800pro ;)
yes... that too. :)
=)
Gotta agree with that, I love my r350 Pro, I'm waiting on a CM Hyper 6 to come through so I can bolt it on my card and voltmod the hell out of it :D 455/400 without mods or decent cooling, I got a mint card :toast:Quote:

I'm not too happy about my 360 core indeed :D
Well I'm just gonna vmod the mem and then see what benchmark results I can get... in november we've got this huge computer expo so I'll just get me the x800pro or xt
Thief 3 is really not very smooth you see :D
i'll second the r350 cores being great. Mine could do 500 on air but i didnt run it at that speed to often, think with a pelt it would have been killa.
and Kameleon it is stupidly hot right now aint it, well nice but not got for computers
Thx pal :)Quote:

I've been working hard for that score... it's lots of modding, cooling, bios tweaking and software tweaking as well...
Everbody thinks: ah, he's got 25k+, okay then 24k should be easy... but everybody trying to squeeze out the last bit of performance to break a specific score knows what it means getting another 100pts :D
Thx

True that, I've had 22044, 22019, 22003, 22000, 22033, 22039 and 22056...
So it's kind of hard to get 22k1 lol
That's why I must mod the mem :)
it's 2.93v standard... should I aim for... 3.3?
Try it, bud. Though uwackme claimed the hynix does not like the voltages... :(Quote:

I think you're trying to break the 24k barrier too, huh? ;)
You'll get it done. I know. Sooner or later. Maybe with my 3dmark guide (Gaz' and mine ;) ) later... dunno when I get access to it and when I've got time to refresh it... ;)
SAE does that mean your working on a guide or that there already is one hiding somewhere.
Yep. Gaz aka Cactus Jack will be very busy the next months and he cannot update it. So I'll pick it up for him and gonna update it a lil. The guide is already there.Quote:

P.S. The grand chief has not been contacting me yet... referring to the guide  ... Whazzup?
I think he has already done such wonderful job making this thread going. He has done enough. Leave him alone... He can't do this forever... he is a human too.. know what I mean? ha..ha...ha..... I give him all credits and he should get nominated. Great thanks to ricjax... Get rest and enjoy... :)

Never mind anyway. I hope you get your 23k... Top rank is Stang's with 23.3..k ;)
Using the Cat 4.3s and DX9.0b isn't going to help your efforts. Try the 3.7s with DX8.Quote:

Also, what kind of Ram ICs does your raddy have? You may be able to flash to a better bios. :)
He asked me via PM and I already recommended the 3.1 ;)Quote:

DX8.1a is better than b...
Well now he has a choice! :D
I'm using now:
win2k
dx8.1a
cat 3.1 modified
I'm hitting 22830 with 243x11 473/380 but can't publish due to detected cpu speed variation, any help?
Thanks
EDIT: I have samsung memory on my 9800
OK guys, just hit 22760 with 240x11 and 473/380 on card, all air cooled baby : http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7910584
