HI moddolicous it is running on a amd3000+winchester, neo2 platinum, 1gig corsair xms, asus 9800xt.......its only running 2.0ghz cuz im havn trouble with my nb over heating.it will run about 18 hrs a day...its no monster but im proud of it. I just started 2 hours ago.hope i can help.
Sounds like a good rig. It beats the rigs I got runnin (1 2.1~ghz A-XP w/ 1gig no-name ram and a P3 800 w/ 630mb ram).
10,000 frames in a work unit?????? WOW this takes forever
hey guys im having a problem last night i had 3500/10000 frames and i did windows update so i quit the folding app restarted and it said i only had 28/10000???????whats the deal? another thing when i start the app it only runs 1 frame every 5 min and after like 5 hours i can come back and it is throwing out frams every 15-10 seconds....why does it take so long to go fast?do i need to reinstall the app or is their a better app?

Do it! I've got to take some time to o/c all of my rigs a bit more, and remove any cdroms & unnesessary parts. The older ones have no pci/agp lock, which always limits them to a minimal o/c I find, but still worth doing if there's a few of them.Quote:

I always use cheapo RAM and put a divider on it, if it really wont clock very high. I cant remember what the divider is currentlyon my 144, but its not 1:1 thats for sure. 2.5Ghz of AMD is still pretty handy, the opty was working on some small WU's yesterday and benchmarked at 500ppd on FahMon!

I've joined your team! I've been folding for a while since I decided it makes more sense to try to cure cancer than find (s)ET(i). 2 computers so far. I need to set up the 4 machines at the office (tomorrow perhaps).

I replaced my 650 system for an 805 today, great chip; well impressed with how responsive the machine is, I think enabling sata2 on my drive helped a lot too.
I only use the text client, so the following may not apply to the graphical client...I think just changing your team id should work fine, though you might want to check the log when they start they're next WU & check the team number has changed. There's a nice little prog called FAHmon which is handy for tracking progress, just add a new client & point it to the FAH folder for that machine (ie local or shared over network). Forgive any mistakes its late here :yawn2:

As long as you've got the machine ID's set at 1 for the first client & 2 for the second, you should be set; which it sounds like you have sorted already. Are you on the stock cooler for that 805? Mine's a little warm (55c with 2xfah running) so I'm thinking about getting a couple of Artic Freezer 7's this week, put one on the 650 too :D
The farm's looking a bit better now man, I'll update that piccy later 'cos I've got a big windowed chieftec & a P180 case to show off now ;)
My P D seems to run a little hot. At 3400mhz ( I downclocked) with my scythe ninja and a silent yate loon it runs two folding instance at 90% cpu usage at 54C. My pc room is fairly hot so air cooling is pretty inefficient.Quote:

I am just curious, how much of a electricity bill hike did you guys notice after fully being dedicated to folding?
Well lets see an idle high end pc probably draws 200-250w, and a full load one (no load on GPU) probably sucks 350-400 from the socket. So add three or so bulbs to your bill.

I'm going to beg to differ on the claims of 350-400 watts from the socket with no GPU load, and say more like 200-250 MAX (250 with maybe say a prescott or similar nuclear meltdown). Think about it: TDP, at least with AMD, is the absolute max power the chip will draw no matter what, even if the sky is falling. so on even the most beastly current AMD chips, thats 115 watts absolute physical maximum - full load is far less. OC it a bit to a lot and it'll still probably be less than 150 watts. RAM will take 7-8 watts per stick at MOST (generous), drives take a few watts, and chipsets take a few watts too. factor in efficiency, and you're at around 200-250 watts for the most power-hungry CPUs out there.
Then again, if you're running a Core Duo, it's more like 50 watts at the wall full load.
also, who has 100+ watt light bulbs? O_O
Yeah, I wish I didnt do impulse buying and got some amd cpus instead of my Prescott celerons. Now I can understand why enterprises are moving to using opterons (Hehe rather experiancing it first hand) .

Moved my folding over here Saturday, 3 machines all single processor. I don't run 24/7 because of the heat/storms at this time of the year. A64 3000+ @ 295x9,a P4 3.0 stock and a P4 1.7 stock. As soon as the insanity calms down the P4 1.7 will be replaced with a Oc'ed E6400 or E6600

Sounds like you've got the setup right Polygon, so I'd guess they are working on proteins with the same project number - although these aren't identical & you'll get credit for both. I ran four instances on my dual xeon which was often runnning 2 or 3 Work Units with the same project number at a time.
Looking at your stats I can see 2 cpu's have appeared - so it all looks good.

How/how long before my username is recognised? i.e., placing GAM in the sig stats produces 'user not found' (or similar). 'GAM' is the username I specified during (console) config/run.
I'm not expecting to see any user scores because nothing is finished, but I thought the username would be recognised and are wondering whether I missed something.
you have to deliver a finished WU before username is recognised....

I recently had my PSU fan in the one computer blow out :( Sudden horrendous grinding noise and the fan rpms can't have been more than 50 or so. I temporarily put a case fan in its place until I can get back to my stash of fans to replace it so it is up and running again.
Currently I have these systems folding :fact:
A64 3700+ @ 2.86GHz with 2GB RAM
A64 2800+ with 512MB RAM
P4 2.8GHz with 384MB RAM
duron 1.2GHz with 256MB of RAM
P3 750MHz (the one the fan blew out in) with 256MB RAM
I hope to have 2 more folding soon, a celeron 1.5GHz with 256MB RAM and some other random P3 that I have no idea the specs on and don't even know if it works right. Hopefully it does though.

Its always a bit of a worry when a PSU fan fails, I've had it happen to me but there was no noise, just a worrying smoky smell which took some tracking down.
Interesting mix of machines SparkyJJO, are they all stacked up in a room or spread around at friends/family homes? There's a thread with piccies of some of the folders around here somewhere, dig it out & post a photo of your setup, I need to update my photos too since I moved; looks more organised here now.
Btw The old 10x100 & 11x100 celerons I've had both worked at 133mhz bus iirc. Might be worth a go on the one you've got if its not 133 bus default.
2 of them are at home (the A64 2800+ and the P4) because they are the family PC and a server. The rest of the functional ones are with me in my dorm room.
I call it the "poor man's setup" :p: Pretty much I spent all my money building my main system (the fastest one of course) and then found out about XS and F@H. Ever since then I've been scrounging up random parts to build folding computers. Since I'm in school and college is expensive I can't afford to build really nice systems like some people here :( But I try my best :)
Well there's only so much stuff you can jam in a dorm room, my room at uni was big enough for a small bed, a desk, & enough room to squeeze between the two :hehe:
Keep searching & scrounging man, you let the right people know that you'll happily take old computer parts, eventually someone will hand over something decent free of charge. Most of the stuff I get is junk, but yesterday a friend gave me some bits that are worth holding onto:

-Blown GB motherboard, ok well thats junk
-P4 478, turns out its a 2.66/533 chip ;)

I thougth user names were case-sensitive. I have just completed my first WU with a couple more on their way. I specified the right team, but when I checked the stats page, it is indicating that the user 'GAM' has used 'more than one team'. The stats page indicates seperate points for different teams but implies the one username.
When I searched and checked for a username I entered 'GAM'. I noticed 'Gam' and 'gam' and assumed they were different and that usernmes were case-sensitive.
Can someone please confirm whether this is true and that I should change my username to something unique or is the username case-sensitive and the details will sort themselves out in time?
Advice appreciated.

You have no problem at all with your username... as there wasn't already anybody named GAM in our team 36362... in the case if there had been: you would have been contributing to him or you will have combined nice little team together.
Simple enough... I could name to my client GAM... so I would be helping you :)

occasionally there are server gliches that require the completed wu's to be held in que for awhile. Usually it will transfer later. Did you get new work?? If so, I wouldn't worry for awhile about it.Quote:
