Tried single stage to get that lousy cache frquency up a notch, but ended up being stuck trying to post 2500 cl8 for a hour before I gave up. Seems like cpu doesn't clock ram as good on cold.
Good start keep pushing.
Cold shouldn't impact negatively on memory oc, it should only improve it a bit. Definitely try again.you need that uncore to go sub 6
I don't know how you guys are running BBSE on Haswell, so much fail for me, and the worst type of fail, the "I'm not even going to boot" sort of fail:p:
I think sub 6 can be done with 4.7-4.8 uncore, but you are right, the higher to 1:1 the better. Looking forward to seeing some cold results from you and your beastly BBSE:up:
Looks like Zen might come up this weekend for some benching. He is going to bring the beastly air BBSE kit of his, to test under cold on a few different boards. We will have the M6E, OCF's, Giga OC and possibly MPower Max if CL3P can bring it, should be an awesome time hunting for sub 56's:yepp:
last screens for this half of the kit.

Thanks Ron, I would love to get together the next time I am in Texas especially since Mikecdm lives so close, I figure we could have a mini North Texas meet lol.
I am sure the humidity is not so bad as down in Corpus Christi say, but it is a pleasure to bench out in California, where relative humidity is 34 % on a bad day and 16 % on a good day:)
I think we need to organize a West Coast event, it has been a long time since there was anything in the US and this blows my mind, as I am sure we are not a small market.

Are the 2500C8 Tridents the demonstrator kit from Computex kit from a couple of years ago or you actually managed to find them in retail?
Got it from gskill 2 years ago. Don't think it's retail on the market.
^Fair enough ;)
we have awesome cards this generation, too bad intel screwed up the retail haswell big time....
Have faith Alex-Ro :P When those Costa Ricas hit the market... Well at least that's my hope!
Well crap and here I thought I had a decent 4Ghz time:p:
Time to go back to the drawing board.
CL9 were retail on newegg but only some limited kits and sold out in one day, james and me and thomas have some, but this is first time i saw C8
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...Ln2&highlight=
Looks like he's on too something good,he's really worked out something good from looking at his AIDA64 it looks really good.So much to learn on this new platform given time we will all work it out,we are problem solvers, just have to work out the puzzle
@AndreYang, very nice time man
yeah its basically the same
hey Sam i was thinking about what you said in the past about the hand picked stuff is nothing like retail and unmatchable, i have some thoughts on that,
in the past i agree with you, but on this platform things arnt the same for me, my 2 best sticks that i previously did 2800 7-11-7 with are no longer my best sticks, in fact they are just some retail kit i didn't even realize was PSC and just ripped out of a litecoin mining rig,
i tested a bunch of PSC this weekend, some mine, some owned by a bunch of different Australian guys, all the retail stuff that used to be 'average' on Z77 is now clocking the best on air, i haven't tried LN2 on many kits yet, but the sticks that i used to consider my gems are now getting beaten by a 2000c7 flare kit that i didn't give much respect to in the past
flare couldnt run 2600 on air in z77, now doing 2666 8-12-8-27 1T, trfc 82, twcl 6, same secondaries/tertiarys i want to use on LN2 minus trfc @ 1.91v
ur hope is here

http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/7913/zxzf.png
@youngpro very interesting, is this related to the haswell imc or do you think it is issue of the board you tested on? I skip Haswell, at least until now, so I cannot test my psc, one of these is in fact also Flare kit that already does 2600 8-11-8-28 on Z77
I've yet to see any huge difference between ivy and haswell at clocking memory(psc, sams, bbse) except they work little better on haswell.I've binned a dozen of psc kits on haswell and ivy, correlations are the same, better kits on ivy work better on haswell(m5e + m6e both cases used).
i dont think its IMC related, i swapped in and out chips and i didnt see the mhz go up or down, i think in the 2600-2700 range IMCs are very similar for PSC/BBSE, but i only tested limited samples
I lol'd a little when this finished

hey guys,
james and I did a lot of testing on the weekend with PSCs and ran into some problems with cold and could not tighten to 7-10-7 or 6-10-6
it was bios related! I confirmed it in testing last night and today and we're making a new benching bios that will sort this out. My PSCs arent too great so i couldnt really do a great deal more than 1300 cas6 and 1333 cas7 but a few guys do have some gems which should be cranking it pretty hard now. will update it when it's ready

looking forward to 2600 c8
Wow cool! I will try my kits, 4x2 dom gt 1600 cl6. At least one of them could run 2133 7-7-6 on SB @ 1.80 vdimm but it was slooow for the clocks back then.
edit: So I tried hypers too. My kits can't make much more than ~2250 MHz at any timings. Quick Pifast comparison between my fully tweaked BBSE @ 1300 8-11-7 1.85 vdimm and "just getting started" Hyper MGH-E at 1098 7-7-6-24 1.92 vdimm:

Pretty neat huh? :)
Max pifast = 1130 MHz 7-7-6-23 1T trfc 68 with 1.96 vdimm. For 32m I will need cold on them.

still working, not bad at 2600 :)
So glad to see some Hypers again! :rocker:
Not yer. Time cut was strictly voltages :)
@ZenEffect: do same settings pass 32M at 5GHz? :)
don't have an air 5ghz chip to be honest. I can maybe next weekend when I start freezing things.
*edit*
or maybe tonight, checked tracking and my ek plates are supposed to be in today so I might play with a little dice, ln2 next weekend :)
@Splave
sa, ioa and iod? I noticed if they aren't set "right" things start slowing down. the auto rules are pretty good though.
ill have some 4ghz times soon, maybe i wont challenge andre but should have some alright times
been playing with a couple boards and just getting some time to properly pay on z87/memory, pre-computex was a little too full on
Been through several bios's, all my timings both good & bad & spent 1/2 a day yesterday playing with voltages & ended up with exactly the same score as my previous 2 attempts. After seeing Alex's great run I was hell bent on not posting until I could at least break the sub 6 min mark but I just cant make it so this will have to do as my best.

http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...F6K6M00063.png
Nice result man,if you lower trfc and some tertiary a little you'll reach your goal easily :)
There's got to be something I'm not getting but that really is the best I can do. Might be me, my chip the board who knows but its real tough with my Samsung's on the 2800 divider. I have a hard time adjusting secondary's. Lower trfc is slower for me & although I have run trrd 4 & trtp 4 it don't like it so I ended up setting 3 which must put the board into panic so it sets the lowest its happy with to boot. I been right through my timings & just cant get my samsungs to play nice on the 2800 divider.
what volts are you setting in GTL? Also try pushing more volts into your RAM. mine scale and i bench with 1.98 normally. ive benched up to 2.05 and they kept going.
it should not be slower with TRFC under 110, keep at it mate. You're looking pretty good there so far imo
Thanks mate, to be fair I have stopped using GTL as it was not reporting IOA & IOD properly it was always displaying .050 when I had more set in bios. I may re test this later as it might well have been some bios/os corruption but thought I'd play it safe & just set stuff in the bios. I know these sticks run faster & lower on z77 just got to find my way I guess.
I had for the first run I posted something like sa 1.1 ioa .09 iod .06v & the second run where I thought I was getting somewhere with my voltages I had .190 .160 .130. These voltages have been crept up individually & pi run at each step to find the fastest/most consistent.
Yes the more volts I throw at the Samsung the faster they run but in all honesty I didn't go mad on volts gave 1.95 a quick run & found only a small gain maybe .200. I would have expected to gain more than .400 going from CL10 to 9 & 1.65 ~ 1.9v. These sticks have run tight 2860 9.12.12 under 2v on z77 so was expecting the same if not better from z87.
Even 10.12.12 @ 2800 they are touchy with secondary timings its this I'm struggling with mostly.
Edit... GTL working fine noe I must have bent something!!
just tuning voltages, so please don't add.

bro only -137? how can you tell no CB or CBB? even dominator original can get to -150 why not use I know you have a couple :P
My memory pot cannot go colder than -150. 90% of my sticks locked around -100. That's what I talk about finding no CBB/CB kits. My gtx3 has cold bug as well.
I am using customized heat spreader from a Taiwanese friend.

If mems can suicide at -150c they should also have no issues (coldbug) running 32M at -150, right?
So decided to test a team mates 2300 c8's and they did not disappoint. . . . timings wise:p:

There must be some sort of error filter type stuff going on that slows down with the IC's heat. You can tell if you pump to much volts you are slower when temps are warm but you dont fail.
What settings are you using?
thanks for this, given their behaviour(trcd-voltage wall) i was almost sure that there was a mix between elpida rev b and psc :) wondering if hypers can do same things at 5ghz and then maybe somr cold.... :D

Yes they are blue ripjaws green pcb.
I spent about 10 days trying to figure out what most voltages do in terms of mem stability and i think now it is a walk in the park to run tight bbse.
If i pass mem training with them it is sure that they can pass 32m...
I found even the combination initial and eventual mem volatge is important to pass mem training not to mention sa,io and vtddr.
