Nice score Martin!
When I download the Xtreme Preset Heaven from HWBot, it gives me v1.03, when I try to submit a score it says I need version 1.04. Do you have a link to the latest download? I keep getting the same version.
Thanks

Glad it wasnt just me. Also glad I saved the file to submit.
Will work on this to see if I cant get the score higher.

Glad you are finally getting your dream, a hexa core CPU. You will love the R4E.
EK waterblock arrived, no gain without more gpu volts... But the ram is very "happy" (with stock volt):

Whoever was the person who did 1200 mhz at default volts, can you run MSI afterburner with the /rr174 command line switch and post the two numbers found? Also what is the STOCK voltage (without changing any voltages in Trixx or AB, and only with voltage monitoring unlocked? (unlocking voltage control forces the voltage to 1175 mv automatically, I think, if anything is changed).
There are 4 default vids, 1175 mv, 1125 mv, 1050 mv and 1020 mv or something like that....
Me needs a RIVE and 3930 bad. I am almost done with Sandy anyway.

Very nice clocks!
Maybe my memory just sucks IDK, but I cant get close to those clocks.
Try Vista 32bit, these cards should be able to do 53k+ in 05 with the right tweaks, OS and a good 2600k.
I'm not the guy you were referring to but if it helps my card will do 1225/1450 (haven't tried higher on the mem) at stock volts. Default voltage is 1.049V in AB and 1.175 in Trixx. Voltage control is unlocked in AB. The two numbers you asked for are 00000174 and 00003510.
I hear ya, I got two 2600K liquid systems active right now and just built another with a 2700k Sunday. So far benchable at 5475 and will do 5G at 1.42. These new 7970 cards are showing some massive powa compared to my 3G classi 580 and when paired with a nice sandy at 5600 or more should prove interesting. The 7970 simply crushes my 580 all around though I have not reached beyond perhaps 1125 core.
Best I could do in 05 without LOD tweaks, using XP. About the same score as the gtx470 or 560ti.
WOW just noticed vcore is waay high, set 1.625bios with llc10, this over vlots a lot

Just like I thought.
JUST like with Intel CPU's, lower VID GPUs overclock higher on less volts than higher Vid GPU's...and ID#'s starting with "3" are the lower Vid GPU's.
Mine's 1175v default vid and only does 1150 stable at stock. 1200 requires 1225 mv stable in BF3/3dmark, 1225 probably requires 1250mv (1225mv isn't stable).

Where do you guys up the memory voltage ? I can't see it in AB
Trixx best to overclock, but lacks some of the things MSI Afterburner has
vmem an hardware monitor
You do not need to use vmem in msi Afterburner so slow you can run mem in afterburner

Thats a pretty awesome card you have there!
Ordered a full cover block for the card. The EK blocks were sold out, so I went with the Koolance. http://www.koolance.com/water-coolin...oducts_id=1239
Trixx cannot compare to Afterburner in any way shape or form, AB is miles ahead, with new beta 11, you can now control 3 seperate voltages for better overclocking.
http://downloads.guru3d.com/-MSI-Aft...load-2740.html
Elfear,
If you don't mind pushing the voltage, can you test your card and see if you can do 1.25-1.3v on the GPU core (doesn't matter which core clocks you use, even stock, although try your 1225 mhz) and see if you are stable?
Someone with a 1.05v Vid card who could do 1200 mhz at 1.175v said that he starts artifacting if the measured vcore goes above 1.20v in AB.
BTW after hours of BF3 last night, seems like I can do 1225 @ 1.237v target on the core, without artifacting in planes in BF3 (Afterburner said the voltage was 1.17-1.18v measured). 1200 is fine at 1.225v target (1.16v real). 1250 mhz requires at least 1.275v target though, and I won't try that (was artifacting in BF3 at 1.250v target)
Was able to get the memory up a little higher with afterburner beta11. Max mhz allowed in beta11 is 1790 it seems.

guys be aware that on latest betas 10 and 11 of MSI Aftb. i reported errors to the author of it
i normally just overwrite the old one, this time i didnt and start getting heavy errors on GFX like this
http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/8017/msiaft.jpg
it was over and over, so what i did was remove MSI Aftb, remove drivers, restart reinstall drivers and then MSI Aftb.
this may or not may happen but for you guys that bench is primary so i would put and eye on this
cheers to all
Sergio
Thanks for the info.
To get mem any higher, I used afterburner and set voltage, closed it and set clocks with trixx, 1835mhz so far in heaven extreme preset.

I used beta11, but maximum memory frequency it allows is 1790mhz. Trixx lets you go higher, so I used it for settings clocks.
it will only cause problems trixx and msi Afterburner, they can not work together, have tried for 2 days, perhaps 1 a 20 times it goes well.

Is there any way at all to check the expected VID based on serial numbers, or is that a stupid question? :P What are these two numbers I've seen mentioned in past posts regarding the 'theory' that the lower VID chips of course clock better.
with a little messing around i got msi ab working did 1213 clock / 1375 memory  , this card just has major push , damn i could just imagine with good drivers and some water-cooling , what they would do , truthfully i think crossfire is overkill with these , so lets hope another crysis type game come out

Afterburner BETA11
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=2842
I wonder if it's OVP?
I was able to put my 1175mv Vid card with set @ 1.250v in 3dmark 2011 without crashing, just to check (clocks at 1200, didn't crash; btw it's stable at 1.231v target for hours; 1.225v eventually caused a "cannot initialize full screen: make sure no other apps are running" error after about an hour. Heaven was fully stable at 1.231v too, for an hour, but got up to 88C, with room temp at idk, 86 degrees fahrenheit).
So the lower Vid cards can't take as much voltage, but clock better on less?
1175mv an can run whit 1.3v 1300MHZ on gpu
Falkentyne how you guys finding your vid . on my card i start artifact after 1.250 volts , 1.3 is just crash city , but i havent really work on my core with less volts so that might be the ticket , to keep from artifact so early on , I would for sure like to hit 1300mhz , but a stable 1200 seems to be the spot with out better cooling
Guys which driver are you guys using for stable gaming with this card in Tri Fire or Crossfire??? Also any of you got afterburner to allow clocks over 1125. My cards do this at stock volts.
you ca try gpu tweak

Afterburner beta 11 will set the default volts for your card based on its ASIC binning level. So you can see it in the voltage monitoring.
There have been some rumors going around that the cards will crash if you give them more than 125mv over the stock voltage. If this is true, this could be why people with 1.050v Vid cards are crashing as soon as the card hits 1.2v of "real" voltage (happens at about 1.25v of target voltage, with vdroop). And would also explain why people with 1.112v Vid cards can't use 1.3v target voltage. This needs more testing.

I get you Falkentyne makes plenty sense now im thinking about it , I have 1.112v cards also and get crashes at 1.3 but then i get artifacts at 1.25 , but card will run full overclock at 1.18 perfect , they must over volt a bit to what we are picking vcore , i check gpu z and at idle says om running 0.950 , love to test with my multimeter to know what going on the insides for sure , if anyone knows the points

Hi guys, just installed my card and put it under water (Koolance block). My ASIC quality is 77.9%, 1.112v. My card doesn't crash at 1.3v, but adding more voltage doesn't help my overclock at all as I'm stuck at 1,225mhz as my stable core speed playing BF3 and testing with Furmark.
That's too bad... I was really hoping for a bit better of a chip especially being under water. Oh well, can't complain too much. Still a 200mhz core overclock and nice and silent without the leaf blower fan :) Not trying to hit records, just game. Still would've liked to see a good 1,320 or something. *sniff*
Thanks for the heads up MetalRacer.

OC Nub bios ?
OC Nub : your screenshots are too small . We don't see anything. :(
I think this bios is meant for LN2, got it from Kingpin Cooling forums. I would NOT recommend it for air, probably not water either.
http://kingpincooling.com/forum/show...5&postcount=57
bios is only 64kb? it can fit
Nub - yeah I can't read your screenshot but I bet your temps are still good on water right? But that voltage is fixed at 1.33 and not adjustable? Is that actual 1.33 or target? At least with dual bios you can easily switch between the higher volae bios and default :)
:D
The bios is not fixed, you need to use Asus GPU Tweak to adjust the voltage, afterburner will not work.
Sorry about the bad screen shots. I used hwbot's heaven benchmark to take the screen and save the file.
Here is a better screen I hope. Temps are a little warmer, had the ac blasting earlier, temps were about 5c cooler.

anybody get any better cooling results when changing TIM? or is it not necessary?

I would think afterburner, trixx or gpu tweak set the maximum voltage at 1.3 to prevent the average user from cooking the gpu. People will try run 24/7 with high voltage, and end up crying because the card died.
I pushed the 5870, and 4890 pretty high on vgpu also, but for quick benchmarks, not for hours of gaming.

Can anyone confirm that heatsink removal voids warranty and if manufacturer will be able to tell? Eg phase change TiM removed or disturbed?
Cheers
They will be able to tell, read something about the way they applied the thermal paste could not be duplicated. Not sure about voiding warranty, guess it would depend on manufacturer.
cool that they use good TIM now and not spluuged on like gtx480's
Perhaps you can go old school and use Rivatuner to select a nominal voltage higher than 1.27v for the 7970. When programmable VRM's started showing up on graphics cards, we started some topics along the lines of "there should be a software with a slider bar to control voltage on a graphics card". Now 3 years later, software all over the place! haha.

About the bios you posted, you flashed it in to your ASUS card ( I've an asus card too ) and the you were able to set higher voltages then 1.3v with software ? Or it will let ASUS GPU tweak it go higher then 1.3v ? Thanks for the help

The bios allows you to increase the voltage using gpu tweak. It is not a set voltage, just gives the option to raise it above 1.3v. You can run at default voltage if you want.
I was stuck at 1295 maximum core clock, but I found this bios at another forums, KP Cooling forums and gave it a shot.
I would not try this with stock cooling, water minimum. If anyone kills the card trying this, its on you. I got the card for benching, and at 1295 I wasnt getting far.
Im using the one from the link in the first post here in this thread, it also has ati-winflash in the folder once you install gpu tweak. I was lazy and used ati-winflash, figure it has dual bios so no problem fixing a bad flash. All went well though.
Second screen shows the limits once you check the box for overclocking range enhancement.

The Same is true for Quad or Triple SLi Gaming. Scaling is not good enough yet. Dual GPU is fine for games. Triple is sometimes acceptable. But Quad scaling is terrible for gaming.
