Now i have a problem and i donīt know if is the board or the vcard. The thing is that the nvidia gtx 570 gigabyte soc canīt boot sometimes and donīt know if maybe is the vcard or the board, so i took an msi board to make the proof and the vcard just worked without any issues. Could it be the board gen 3 thing?
I've seen that problem before, the most likely cause is the GTX570. Either the VRMs are overheating / failing (quite common for the 570) or the card just "doesn't like" your specific configuration in which case RMAing the card will remedy the issue.

Quick question what should CPU PLL Voltage be at? I used the auto overclock and hit 4.8 with 1.226 Vcore but CPU PLL is showing 1.832. That seems awful high to me. BTW I have the Gen 3 Extreme 4 and love the board so far. TIA

RealTelstar, I have been running the v1.10 bios for a few days now and I have yet to come across any USB issues. My g700 mouse works fine wired or wireless as does the MS X4 keyboard, a few USB flash drives, an Xbox360 controller and my mobile phone. Once I come across any USB problems with any other devices I'll post here. I am running Xfast-USB on my Z68X4G3 and still tinkering with OC settings (at 4.7ghz @ 1.40v right now; 4.8ghz @ 1.425v is not quite stable for my i5-2500k yet without temps getting to almost 90c).
Ket, I see you summed up some issues with the gen3 boards for Asrock support: I have a Creative X-Fi Platinum PCI card in the bottom PCI slot on my board but I'm not running the official creative drivers for win7x64. Instead I used "PAX PCI XFI ALL OS Driver V4.60" and it seems to be running well without any installation issues. Perhaps you are right and it could be a driver issue causing conflicts?
I haven't had any other major compatibility issues with this board yet, although I was thinking about installing a Sata3 SSD like a Vertex3 but after having a look through the OCZ forums they seem awash with people having problems and BSODs. It seems to do with the latest sandforce controller not playing with the Z68. I guess I'll wait for a while and do some more research...
I have checked the "official" asrock support forum over techtown and the point is that the P1.10 bios does NOT seem to fix the mouse bios issue to the people who had it with P1.00 like me. So it's pointless to flash, unless I'm assured that they fixed it completely without adding issues with other usb devices.Quote:

The x-fi boards are famous for being a PITA to install and drivers being crap, regardless of the mainboard.
Those issues are 90% driver related and 10% due to some resource allocation.
I havent tried to put my x-fi (now for sale) from the old computer to this one, but I did plug another pci soundcard which worked fine. And I have one yet on order (based on the same c-media chipset).

Get a crucial m4, intel 510, samsung 710 or wait for something newer.
The X-Fi issue is very likely driver related, but asrock might be able to tweak how resources are allocated to make the issue less common; ie; bottom PCI slot has 2nd priority while the middle PCI slot (lets face it, this slot is usually blocked or just not used for airflow reasons) has lowest prioroty.
As there have been some doubts about which boards are true Gen3 and which aren't, I figured I would post up this pic I got from one of the guys at asrock;

As I keep saying, that sleep issue has long since been looked at, theres no problem at all which has been verified by myself, macclipper, and others.

Planning a new build with the ASROCK Z68 Extreme7 Gen3 mobo and using the matched/tested 4GB X 4 set = 16GB of GSkill RipjawsX F3-17000CL11Q-16GBXL
DDR3-2133 (11-11-11-30-2N) that has the XMP profile.
1. Will this memory work with the board as it's not on ASROCK's memory support list ?
2. If this memory will work on the board besides enabling the XMP profile in the BIOS (not sure where that feature is at the moment) will I need to
change any voltages or other settings and/or manually set timings in the BIOS in order to keep the stable at 2133 ?
3. Is it recommended to use just 2 dimms (8GB) in the correct 2 mobo slots on a new install then add the other 2 dimms in the remaining 2 slots
(to make 16GB) later on after the memory has proven to be reliable and stable ?
Any guidance and tips would be greatly appreciated

I just upgraded my old Asus Rampage Extreme (x48) mobo with an ASRock Extreme7 Gen3, i7-2600k CPU, and 4 x 4gb Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600.
It's running great, memory performance is 2-4 times the old system, CPU a notch up over qx9770, but BLAM my CrossfireX performance is crippled! I went from a Windows 7 assessment of 7.4 to 6.0! I play games at 1920 x 1200 and they're feeling laggy.
I figure it's a learning curve, and needed tweak I'll eventually find.. anyone have some thoughts?

Well I am gobsmacked by this! Like everyone else, I have had the "clock interrupt" BSOD on my Z68 Extreme 4 since the day I installed it. There is a huge body of evidence on this forum that suggests a fault exists on this board whereby there is insufficient power provided to the system at idle when using the onboard graphics. Upping the Vcore or adding a graphics card may solve the issue (both worked for me), but these options cannot be advocated as the solution. The board must work as advertised using default settings and onboard graphics.
It is insulting to suggest that the problem can't be duplicated in the Asrock labs. I notice you use the wording "we hardly see the symptom on our side", which suggests that you are able to duplicate the problem.
It is insulting to suggest we try a beta bios (which is older than the published bios), when all that seems to do is set a fixed voltage. This will clearly interfere with other aspects of the board settings, especially power saving functions, and will also increase wear and tear.
It is insulting to suggest that our memory is faulty. I use Corsair memory specifically recommended by ASRock, and many others use various, high quality memory chips. If high quality memory chips are incompatible with this board, then the problem lies with the board, not the memory.
It is insulting to suggest adding a video card to fix the problem. I specifically bought this board for the onboard graphics. It was cheaper than competing boards from Asus or Gigabyte, but if I have to buy an extra video card, then it becomes more expensive than buying an A-list brand. Also, people who use onboard graphics have power saving and low noise as their priorities. These features are defeated by adding a video card.
If Asrock is unable to fully fix this fault by firmware, then it must do a product recall because as it stands, this product is unfit for purpose. This is the first Asrock product I have bought, and will be my last. I will also advise my clients to avoid this brand.
Back to the the Extreme3 Gen3
After a particularly tiring session helping to fix up the Z68 Fatal1ty Pro mobo UEFI Vcore bug, I received the E3 G3 and E7 G3 mobos and found the E3 G3 P1.00 UEFI too obviously bugged (again Vcore bug :mad:) to be properly tested and immediately sent my feedback to Asrock Taiwan. Meanwhile I moved on to the E7 G3 and found the semi-R & R break I needed cos the E7 G3 is such a dream stable mobo in comparison to the other mobos.
But by the time Asrock Taiwan rushed me the P1.00B for the E4 G3, I was just too caught up with testing the E7 G3 and exploring its superlative RAM UVOC capabilities in great depths to be going back to the E3 G3 (and dreading it too). Then came the E4 G3, which like all E4 mobos historically before it, is simply well done right from the start.
And that brings me back to the P1.00B UEFI for the E3 G3 and I am happy to say it is way much better than the retail P1.00 but sad to say, it is still below par compared to the usual Asrock standard.

So I removed all the AMD drivers, pulled one card out, installed AMD Catalyst drivers again, and on a single EAH 6970 my system is flying! Never seen it faster, 7.9 on everything but CPU (i7-2600K at 7.6) and Disk (3gb sata at 5.9) in Windows experience. 7.9 on memory too, I'm doing 19,000 MB/s on AIDA memory read/write benchmarks without tweaking my system at all.Quote:

When I updated my Extreme 4 Gen 3 to latest BIOS, my mouse longer works properly in the BIOS, it just moves up and down in a straight line. Has anyone else seen or heard of this?

I asked about the PLL voltage in post 205 and RealTelstar kindly replied that it can safely be lowered to 1.709. I lowered mine and have seen no issues from it. Aside from the mouse issue in the bios and scratchy onboard sound I really like this board. Hopefully a new bios will arrive to correct any issues and make the board even better:)

Evening gentlemen, news on the issues I told my contacts about are as follows;
Floppy drive issue: We can't find a problem here testing with UEFI 1.0.
Other issues: Currently being looked into, I think the X-Fi issue has been addressed in a new UEFI though.
Seems to have gone very quiet in here - hope this means everybody is clocking like mad with there new found stability,
and less issues now, or is it just the case there is nothing interesting happening?
As for me - I have my parts for my build, but my case still has not arrived so.........

FYI, Emily on TT asrock forum posted a bios that should fix the mouse issue for mx518 and others (it DID for one person with the mx).

to pick up the second card about 3-4 times. This is happening completely random. Supplementary Molex power

Test with 2 EVGA GTX470 without seeing the same symptom.
I suggest update VGA driver or chage the SLI bridge for try.
If possible, please test the VGA card with powerful power supply or use two SLI bridge to connect VGA card for try.

i have the extreme4 gen 23 p67 board and i am running HD 5870 in xfire
i have noticed there is a molex connector on the motherboard
its just by the Digi Power heatsink.
do i need to have this connected ?

If you gpu(s) are running fine then you don't need it. It is just to make sure the high end gpus get enough power across the pci-express lanes. So if you are have stability issues with 2 card, etc then use the molex to give the lanes the extra power it needs to keep them stable.Quote:

By chance does anyone own both the Extreme 4 and 7? I just bought the 7 and hope that it oc's the same as my 4 does now. I bought the 4 not realizing that I couldn't do 3 way SLI:( Hopefully the 7 works out and I can sell the 4 at a good price.
Picking up a Extreme7 in the next few days. The board seems a little green yet with the few complaints noted here, i'm hoping we have more users out there without issues.
Finally have most of the parts for my new build using the ASRock Z68 Extreme 7 Gen 3 board with i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz and G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) F3-17000CL11Q-16GBXL. Planning on installing Win7 Ultimate 64 to a single Mushkin Enhanced Chronos Deluxe MKNSSDCR120GB-DX 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) connected to one of the native Intel SATA III ports with ACHI enabled and not the ASMedia SATA III ports.
Prior to installing the OS I plan on updating the UEFI to the latest 1.30 version and enabling in the UEFI memory settings XMP and selecting the 2133 profile to support the G.Skill sticks.
Am I missing or overlooking anything as I want to avoid any problems and hoping for a smooth initial install
Seems like the ASMedia SATA and USB drivers and Intel drivers on the ASRock site are old compared to what is at Station Drivers. Is it recommended to use the ASRock d/l or CD 1rst then update to the latest at Station Drivers?

It got posted by a german asrock rep and it fixed the mouse problem for some users there. For example a user with a logitech G5 mouse got his problems fixed using that bios:D

How are you guys flashing your bios with this download? I've tried it in Windows and thru an external drive at start up with no luck:(
Just a heads up..this bios just killed my board:( I used the instant flash..it updated and no matter what settings I use all I see is a flashing cursor on start up. Reset cmos a few times, pulled the battery and looks like my board is done. Man this sucks as I already have it sold as I upgraded to the Extreme 7. I was hoping this update would correct the mouse problems in the bios for the new owner. Seeing as I can't access the bios any ideas how I can revert back to an older version that actually works?
Strange, i downloaded it and unpacked it, then i putted it on my usb drive and used instant flash to flash the new bios.

I seem to be doing something wrong.
Currently I'm running the sata controller in RAID mode (no AHCI).
When I switch to AHCI, my RAID-0 array completely disappears.
Yes, I installed AHCI drivers, and I can switch between the modes and boot into Windows without BSODs.
So, how do I get RAID and AHCI working at the same time on the sata controller?
Is it possible to get hot-swapping and NCQ working in RAID mode?
Raid mode includes AHCI, so you should just use it if you need to raid some disks.Quote:

i noticed this forum provides most detailed info on my new motherboard so decided to check if you might help me.
i recently started a new platform
ASRock Extreme 4 Gen3
Intel i5 2500k
Samsung 470 SSD
Nvidia GTX 470
GSKill 2x4GB 10666
windows 7 g4bit professional
components mounted without GTX 470, using internal graphic with as less devices hooked on (no additional usb's). installation lags a bit but completes eventually and then crashes start with BSOD. this happens before and after INF or any other driver is installed. it is not possible to login to windows, system crashes before.
i tried all sata ports (AHCI and IDE), changed cables. cleared CMOS, checked CPU temp (which was 40C).
- then i suspected a problem with SSD and tried Intel 80gb SSD with newest firmware. didnt' help.
- i tried separating RAM kit and test them individually - no problems
- tried updating UEFI - didn't help my problem, moouse got stuck (1.10), reverted to original uefi
at this point you start thinking like me - MBO is corrupt. i return it, get a new one, exactly the same. guess what? it didn't help.
suspecting SSDs might be the problem i try a functional Baracuda SATA HDD. Same problem.
the only thing i didn't replace is CPU which i am now stressing from mini XP console (Hiren's) with Prime95. 4 self-tests 128k passed without errors. I am completely lost and need this system to work. any suggestions?
That beta driver would be a result of me reporting to my contacts that the etron 104 and 105 drivers broke support for a sandisk cruzerblade, belkin 11N wireless USB adapter and a SD / micro SD USB adapter ;) Good to see Etron got into the issue quickly :up:Quote:

try the driver package on the first page I uploaded, very recent drivers are in that package so it'll rule buggy drivers out. If the situation improves using the on-die IGP, I would look at there being a issue with your PSU, be it starting to die or simply unable to provide enough juice with the GTX470 installed as well. Its deffinately worth setting memory timings and voltage manually as well, just to be sure nothing is getting skewed.

thx for your efforts. all the crashes that happened were without GTX470 and only one hdd/ssd so there's plenty juice in Corsair VX550w. after trying everything i resorted to one last try contrastive to my bare-skin logic. i installed gtx 570, disabled igpu and voila - everything works perfect. general conclusion of my brain-trust is that iGPU is malfunctioning and new i5 2500k is coming in tomorrow. there simply was no way to get the iGPU to start working in any combination of 2 same MBO's, 2xssd's, 1xhdd, 2 different RAM kits. 3 OS's... when iGPU is enabled general result was BSOD. without it no problems.. go figure..
also, one comment for ASRock - initial GPU set in BIOS is PCI Express. i know this is pretty standard with older configurations that relied mainly on discrete GPU but when Virtu is one of your key selling points you might want to leave iGPU as main device. this way i was forced to use discrete just to get into BIOS and continue on iGPU..
edit: on one hand a relief, it's not the MBO i have high hopes for. one the other - this is the first Intel that ever made problems for me and i installed - hundreds. i was never a fan of iGPU integration and after this you can imagine how i feel about it now. thumbs down.
I got my Extreme7 setup finally after a bumpy start. Although it doesn't oc as well as the 4 it so far seems trouble free. I updated the bios to 1.30 and I have no more issues with my 470's or my MX518:) Really the only thing I can complain about is extremely slow startup and the single pci slot is totally blocked so I'm unable to use it for my soundcard. Maybe its my imagination but this board feels faster than my 4. Found a new review up on the Extreme 7 http://www.kitguru.net/components/mo...7-gen3-review/ . They seem very happy with the board overall. How do I access the for sale section as I would like to sell my Extreme 4?

I agree. Such reasons is why I won't buy any board with a layout like that. For me unless I have a top PCI-E slot to plug my soundcard into with decent spacing for SLI/CF, the board is off my list. Its just about common sence when deciding on slot layout, something I'm glad to say hasn't left Asrock like it has other companies.
I have had it confirmed that Gen3 boards will support Ivy, waiting for verification on the non Gen3 boards.
@ who reported their G5 mouse wasn't working in UEFI; Your mouse hasn't been produced for a year according to my contacts who tried getting one from Logitech, however my contacts have said if you are able to send your mouse to them for 3-4 weeks for testing they are happy to look at the issue with it not working in the UEFI.
