 Way to go everyone!
Why didn't anyone remind me :shakes:
I've had my new 920 sitting for about 2 weeks now cause i have been working 80hrs a week  I will add it in.
We could have cheated and gone for other projects, but I am strictly on HFCC and HCC. I will go temporarily setup my new 920 for the remainder of the race :yepp: I could have signed the divorce papers and bought another one last week too:rofl:
Too bad WCG doesn't support gpu's yet; I now have 10 GTX 275's and 1 GTX260 I could have added
Wonder if a system will produce better without gpugrid or f@h running on the same system:shrug: I think I will try just WCG and a cheap gpu, see if it will produce any better than running a GPU for folding on the same system
forgot to say GREAT JOB FELLAS!!!!!!!!!!!!
....Don't even think about stopping your GPUs. I WILL run you over like a cheese sandwich, under an asphalt roller, on GPUGrid.... On Stanford folding, well, I'll just increase my lead....:ROTF:
Seriously, I have noticed now detrimental effect of running folding or GPUGrid along with WCG. I did look at this early on, when I was bringing up GPUs for folding and the Grid. I did not do the kind of in-depth work we did on the "860 vs 920" thread we did, but I can say that I did not see noticable difference.
Just for the record, right now I'm running only a stable of 12 260-216s, all 55nm, and one lonely 8600GTS that is stuck on folding. We seem to be really close on production on the GPU side, both GPUGrid and folding. Interesting....
My best to you INFRNL, you rock,
Bob
GPUGrid takes about 1-2% total of a hyperthreaded Nehalem machine per GPU, so it's not that big a hit. FAH is similar, and milkyway is even better on the ATIs (running an HD5970 on milkyway, I never saw more than 1% CPU load with WCG halted).
Thanks BOB, I did notice that we are neck and neck between F@H and on the grid. I have been having various problems with 2d downclocking lately so my production is all out of wack :ROTF:
Maybe I should have listened to you guys in the past. I could have sworn I was making more of a difference with my 275's than the guys with their 260's:shrug: I could have stocked up on those $130 refurbs:rofl: oh well. on avg I only paid approx $175 per GTX 275
so basically you have 2 more 260's than I have 275's, plus you have your 8600. I just sold my 9800gt for dirt cheap to help out burninator That was good for 4-6k ppd on folding. Maybe I need to figure out a way to get my shaders higher on my 275's:rofl: I have to turn some down recently for some odd reason:shrug:
I normally run@1620 shaders, I have 1@1593 now to avoid errors(this is on my P55 rig) I have had odd issues with my p55 compared to all my x58 machines:shrug:
Thanks for the info fellas. So I can run my new GTX 275 in my new 920 machine, but I need a new psu to power the electic hungry gpu:rofl:
Maybe it would have been better to go 260-216' not much less production, but cheaper on the utility bill. My wife gave me a dirty look last night and about fell over when she saw the utility bill was almost $400:sofa::help::rofl:
I know this bill does not compare to a lot of you guys, but its probably double of what we normally pay. This does not include the new 920 and gtx 275 either:ROTF:
After 19 days. XS keeps rolling along.
You know, for grins, we could fill our work buffers and then freeze communication on all of our clients until the challenge is over and try to give the other teams a chance to catch up ! ;)
 That's a good idea.
After 20 days
Here's another challenge that started on December 16 - the WCG Cannonball Run. I think it's safe to declare a winner. Team 2ch averages around 20 million a day.
Too bad we didn't know about that one. Even if we would have been #2. I think we still should have done it. Our purpose of getting our team name out there would still have been served.
Even if we couldn't give too much smack to Team2CH about a WCG contest, we could have smack talked about running them over on GPUGrid....
Seriously, they are a high class team. I respect that.
On this WCG contest, we were quite nicely invited by the sponsor. I think that was good.
My best to everyone involved, from all teams. Good work! :toast:
Bob
Sierra, does that challenge show up only on your Captain view of the team page? I didn't see it, while logged in as "123bob", on our team page.
The reason I ask is that I'm Captain of the TR team. I don't see this particular challenge there either, logged in as "123bob_TR". I was going to throw us into it, just to show up on the roster.
The other thing of note I noticed recently is that I have an "appoint new captain" link next to my Captain name on the TR team page. Do you have that too, on the XS Captain page, or am I being told something here? If so, I'll get the heck out of the way......:yepp::p:
Thx,
Bob
All the captains have that link, I suspect due to the number of complaints about captains going "AWOL" and leaving teams headless. As for the various challenges, there's too many to list in the box provided so you only see the first 'n'. When you enter some you get other challenges showing up in their place.
I think you meant to say, minus the oarsum, and with a dash of added weeaboo and moonspeak.

when the race end officially?
Looking good folks. Let's see if we can get a 40mil lead by the end.
sorry fellas, I dropped the ball the past couple days as I made some changes that screwed up a lot of things. I have also been having problems with 1 machine, and now have another idle due to lack of parts, but will be selling off that machine to make up for another I just bought this weekend...long story
Keep up the great work guys  :yepp:
Its nice to see that such a huge lead has been made.
My systems were down for 24 hours the other day due to a power cut and the team is storming ahead without me.
After 22 days
when you think about it, decrypthon really isn't that far behind. ~30 mil which is what... 4 days work for us? if we had a bad week with multiple rigs down they'd be nipping at our heels!
damn, wish i had know about this race earlier, ive got about 30 cores i could have put on it :(
im always up for a good race even if i dont normaly contribuete
^^^^^
Perhaps that is why we should do more of these?
Bring those cores on anyway. We'll find something to challenge them with...:yepp::rofl:
Bob
As to Decryp, we shouldn't under-estimate them. They just started up, it seems.

MakeCuresHappen should also be noticed. They have only 7 members returning work....:yepp: (Yeah, that first memebr of the team must be a doosy...3x DDTung power there....)
After 23 days. One more day to go.
Pretty sure its a mass account for Nike. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=4154
It probably has most of the computing power from Nike.
Challenge is over.
WE WON
Nice. 32mil point lead.
Thank you to everyone on the team. Keep on crunching!
We should do more of these challenges :)
I cannot believe I just found out about this race... :( It sounds so much fun! I will try to remember next time for 2010.
Huge congratulations to everyone who participated in this challenge! FUGGER has got to see this.
we are the da Bestest- don't you guys forget
While winning the challenge is no surprise the fact that we might not make 200 million for the entire month and that our PPD is trending downwards pretty steeply is.
+1 ... I'm with ya boss. I can't bump my core count up but I should be able to squeeze a couple hundred more MHz out of what I do have. I'm even thinking of stopping GPU and Milkyway. Across my GPUs I lose 1/2 of one core in total ... not much but lets see what happens.Quote:
Now let's try and get that average back above 7 mil ok?
Looks like I'm done crunching on the 2nd of January until late Feb. The last time I left my computer on when I left town bad things happened (Pump Died & My System Didn't Shut Down)... I did the best I could during the month of December… Hopefully I’ll have better luck next year when I get back… Congrats to all those who contributed - especially those who contributed big numbers
Thanks for crunching during the challenge
We'll be here waiting for you when you get back :yepp:
Don't worry, I got some expansion plans in place :D
If it wasn't for a certain "problem" I'd have completed them by now.
Good job everyone!
Congrats evryone; now time to bulk up for other comps and to maintain 7-8 mil ppd!!!
