i have cable.
but it's never fast enough... i wish my upload speed is 1GB /s. :/
Mine just got upgraded today to 2.2 / 256k from 576k / 256k... I love the new speed :D
10Mbit broadband full duplex. I had 100Mbit last summer but it was too expensive :dammit: But the speed was unimaginable fast. Downloading a dvd img file (4.5GB) in 15 minutes !! :woot:
10/10 fiber
1500k down, 256k up, ADSL :)
im still on 56k but goin 2mb adsl next month! :woot:
256kbps down 128kbps up and i pay like 40 bucks for it damn i hate to live here :(
Cable at home OC-48 at work (144x T1 :P)
2Mb/256k ADSL, trouble is the damn 30GB cap on it... I hit about the 20th of the month, have to crawl at 300/256 then... ARGH!!!
3.2mbit/768kbit, looking for something cheaper.
I should have had 10mbit/10Mbit when I move.. but apperently the building have made some lousy deal with someone giving 1mbit/1mbit (for 1/3) of the price of the other.. and it's mandatory.. can't escape paying for that crap
Verizon Fiber Optic's. Its 5MB download and 2MB upload. I tried to convince my parents to upgrade to the 15/2 package but they don't want to spend the extra 10 dollars. Grrrrrrr
I'd come up with the extra $10 if I were you. :2cents: ;)Quote:

Man, mine is ADSL but da speed is really terrible while it is advertised 2Mbps down and 640 Kbps up. Grrrrrrrrr... Here is what dslreport.com told me:
Quote:
2005-06-19 12:20:37 EST: 823 / 563
Your download speed : 843476 bps, or 823 kbps.
A 102.9 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 576535 bps, or 563 kbps.
Hey Jason, what is your monthly fee? Here, I spent 'bout 40 USD per month for my terrible ADSL connection :((Quote:

They just started installing FiOS. I think only like 4-5 states have Verizon FiOS available and even then its limited to a few area's the only places in the DFW area that I know of that have it is Keller and a very small part of Grapevine. Keller is just north of Fort Worth.
I keep wondering at times when will US broadband (be it wired or wireless) match up to that of some foreign countries... I was just browsing a korean site which offers internet service...
here is approximate pricing of product translated...
1) Lite: $20 2Mbps service
2) Premium: $30 8Mbps service
3) Fibre: $30... fibre optics... 32Mbps max service....
And... you know what... 90% of population can be covered in 1 and more than 50% is covered under 3 (just about most apartments are covered and it's rare to have house in definition of house as in America... either you are filthy rich or live in farm land... and even those farm land have above mentioned 1 and 2 services...0_0)
Reason was government involvement in deploying fibre optics through out country a decade ago.
Just the fact US has such low density population vs land mass probably is what is slowing the infrastructure down so much.
Ok antipop, I'lll pay ur pops the diff (40 euro) and ill move in with you. 100mbs up and down is just scary... talk about insane upload.. u could host a fleet of webservers.
You're welcome any time Maxxx :)
I'm so surprised that France beats USA in speed and price (for broadband only ;) ). I can get 20Mb download (i don't know for up but it should be around 4) for less than $30! And this is ADSL so pretty much everybody is covered. So far i'm at 8 because the DSLAM hasn't been updated yet (it should be before the end of the year). Plus i get cable TV and free phone within france (VoIP).
I was surprised to see that in the US there is still ads for 56k connections. I guess people were telling that france was retarded on internet connection and they did everything to close the gap
here i have 1mb down and 645kbit up according to dslreports.
dl 786 kb/s up 128 kb/s ADSL connection
antipop, ill come to frace, but I have to go to alaska to see kunaak first....
my DSL is so slow its suppose to be a 3mbit connection but instead its
300kbps AND my upload is faster than my download
I've had cox cable (5 Mbps/1 Mbps) for three years, and a currently am trying out verizon's FIOS service (15 Mbps/2 Mbps).
I've had Cox now for about 3 or 4 years but I’m waiting for verizon to make it out to my area, I guess I’m just too far out in the woods. :( It's getting closer thou. :)Quote:

Yan
adelphia premier at home with 6mb/768k
crappy free net zero at work...just another reason to want to call out sick ;)
ugh, verizon needs to get their butts in gear and do my neighborhood... they've been doing other places locally.. but not hereQuote:

I was in Moscow visiting an old friend, and after years on dial-up he received a "unlimited 256k broadband". In other words, 40% of theoretical maximum traffic limit, 8 sources limit and rather buggy. He can use max ~30gb a month.
Now coming back, I run my delightfull truly unlimited 4mbit line. Over the period of one and a half day I have 5gb in and 800mb out.
Using Tmeter is fun ;)
DSL 512Kbps
T1 in University.... :D
Although I am not a student I love surfing there... :)
just got 8mb adsl seems great
3Gdown/1.5Gup Fiber optics. All at my house for $50 amonts. Optimum Rules :woot:
In belguim you have only got one big Cable firm.. LOL :D but lot's of adsl, dsl.
and it's quite fast, aprox 1mb/s.
xyus

That's just sickQuote:

DSL is better. Even with their standard basic package, DSL whoops cable's a$$ in uploading.
let me mention that again... Cables suck http://www.panda.org/graphics/educat..._kangaroo1.jpg's a$$.... :slapass: :stick: :slap:
DSL... 8Mbps download, 1Mbps upload. This costs me around $37 (298SEK) here in Sweden.
How is that price compared to your prices?
Comcast cable with 6 Mbps down, something very low up. I think they say 768 but it is probably less in practice.
There is no chance in hell to get anything symmetric to move my webservers into my home here north of Boston :(. It seems they are too afraid of professional dotcomers doing business at home and supress any kind of high upload in residential areas.
And no, DSL with more than 768 Kbps up isn't available either.

cable 1024down/256up i pay 35u$s for that crap and its one of the best and connections you can get in argentina :(
With the new DSL2 coming atm, we can have 40down/8up for only 30 euro's a month :D. I also have DSL, and at the moment I have 4096/512 for that price :(
I got cable. 4mbps d/l /384kps u/l. Paying $30 month sharing with my flatmate so it costs me $15/month. Not bad.
i have dsl 256k/192k for about 70usd
and that's all there is in my country
Cox high speed---$30 a month, but if i just give them a call they will upgrade it to 15Mbps down/5mbps up for the same $30 a month :woot:

Hi,
My parents brought a holiday house in italy, garda.
And gave me the task to choose a internet provider and some other computer related stuff.
but because it's a holiday house we aren't going to be there every month so it would be stupid using a provider with a 12 month contract. with that in mind it won't be that easy.
so if someone here lives in italy please pm/reply me :)
Xyus
DSL. And I'm with Optus. :(
If you are in Australia you would know that they are a poor excuse for an ISP, their POS line isnt even stable. :stick:
No more... in a month I'll have my own isolated connection (no family net) with Westnet. :D
56k at home, vodafone 3g/gprs at work. 3g is nice when you are in the right place at the right time, with vodafone anyway, gprs is at least double dial-up speed.
Still use 56k Hic hic.
Getting upgraded to 100/10, week 6 2006 at the latest. :D
I'm on my school network, which usually has a lot of traffic, slowing it down to fast DSL/cable speed.
On the upside, today a lot of people have left for Thanksgiving break and my Internet connection is particularly fast, :)
10mbits LAN, 10DL/10UL combined. In optical fiber (dunno if it's correct in english...:( ).
But here in italy it's soooooooo expensive!!! just a base flat ADSL costs about 20€!!! :slap:
in the hills of VA, direcway satelite..... 128k down 56k up :(
but :) talked to a guy about puting a wifi tower at the house and he said yes.
T3 line to his tower 30 miles away, T3 speeds to my tower :):):):)
ill know in a mont
My speed will be 6mbit/768kbit in about a month; it's 3.2mbit/768kbit now.
EDIT: It's ADSL for 49.95 euro/month.
I have 3 Mb / 256 Kb ADSL for $41 us a month because the fricken US cable and telephone companies want $$$$. :slap:
2mbps Down speed and 200kbps UP speed for now
I pay 18$ every month
$55.00 a month high speed cable

Forgot us poor b@stards out in the sticks with direcway internet. slow up and slow down and FAPed for using more than 140 mb in an 8 hour peroid:mad:
100 Mbit ! ! !, just got my fiberline upgraded to 100/10 Mbit (DL/UL) as of 1st March. I'm very happy! :toast:
I got adsl2, 18mbit down 1mbit up almost the fastest available here in the netherlands... to bad I have to use downloadmanagers to get to ( and over! ) that speed since most serves cap my downloads :(
Most speedtest sites also give me around 500Kbs+ idk any which will show my actual speeds?
They are probably showing such a low score because the test site (server host) is far away, and so the connection isn't very fast. So they pick up your speed as about 500kbs which sounds about right if your using a U.S. server test site.Quote:

We got www.speedtest.nl but that also gives me around 600KBs which is to slow.
619.3 KByte/sec (=4954 kbps) way to slow for 18mbit ( and yes advertised but when using multi source p2p programs I also get to that and above, and using downloadmanagers on websites also goes up to and over the rated speeds. Think it might have something to do with isp limiting max transferrate from one source?
Well, I think it is the server host limiting your connection to d/l's and web page loading. I'm not shure why Speedtest is saying that you have such a slow connection compared to what you should get. The ISP is odviously giving you the full advantage of your connection because you are using P2P programs without any problems on the speed. Which is why I think it is the server host because on P2P the upload speed from other peers to you download is going at and above the advertised speed from the ISP.Quote:

ahh well glad I don't download big files from us servers lol, most files I can get from eu servers, the fastest one being multikabel nl server ( gamershell mirror ) which is :banana::banana::banana:ing fast!

I'm on my school's network, so it can vary widely depending on overall traffic and how many tards are using the file sharing programs that aren't blocked yet. At least they upgraded it recently. Anyway, just did a speed test:
12501 kbps download
1802 kbps upload
