:clap:Awsome mate thanks so much for this bios !!!

So there are two new Xeons coming? Also 6 core hopefully...
anyone have classified , and what is the "bigger" bclk on it?
Gonna give that bios a spin tomorrow or so... but I fear our sample board will not play along :p
hope DFI offers a microcode update within the next weeks! :P but damn nice clocks here. 1,48V 4800 stable whohoo... 4500mhz 24/7 @ 1,4V would be nice ;)
When can we expect i9 on the market?
The second quarter of 2010 was the original plan which is about April.
The way the ES processors are running on this thread, if Intel gets worried about their competition,, maybe they will hit retail a little sooner.
I agree. With these many CPU in hand of these nerds, this will probably become of those out of clear sky CPU-drops.
Probably Intel got some info about a AMD-drop, and keeping prepared to counter it?
i want so see more great results!
These Core i9 look pretty good, though I wonder how much they will cost and how much heat they will generate on load.

I made some progress on updating RealTemp tonight to support the new Gulftown CPUs.
Internally they are organized as 2 x 3 core CPUs. If you download the above version of RealTemp and copy it into two different folders then you can go into the first folder and edit the RealTemp.ini file.
Use this:
Skull=1
and in the other RealTemp folder, add this to RealTemp.ini
Skull=2
Now run two instances of RealTemp, one from each folder and each one should be able to read 3 of your 6 cores. Not a perfect solution but at least it's a start.
It will read the correct TJMax from each core and should show the correct temperature.
After I get some feedback I will look into writing a 6 core specific version of RealTemp but hopefully this will keep users happy for a week or two.
Under Construction
Edit: Here's the first official RealTemp GT beta 3 for the Gulftown processors.

Anyone with classified?
:wasntme:
i wasnt given a green light to post yet..
But i am on a classy.
The one siting next to me right now says i7 :wasntme:
But the sheet did say i9.
With cpu-z 1.52.4
Says Intel Core i7 Extreme.
Man u guys who dont have to worry about NDA are lucky.. :\
They dont run hotter if thats what your asking.
I had both my 975 and this Gulfy @ near same clock. The Gulfy required a tad bit more voltage to hold oc tho.
Heat wise, they were running close to each other.
The delta from ambient / coolant / was relatively close.
So the 32nm makes up for the extra 2 cores in terms of heat.
But this is off a loaned ES processor, so don't quote me on this on retail.
LOL after last night.. do you really think they have anything to be worried about?
short test with new HD5850 @ 1020/1300 (@ air), CPU @ water

5850 damn !@!@!
Short test too vantage
cpu cooled with stock Corsair H50 cooler.

I want I9 too !
What about SPI results? It looks a little crappy.
When other marks looks insane I'm quite disappointed with SPI.
s-pi is the same as i7 nowadays, clock for clock the same speed.
Wprime :)

Show Cinebench run :)
Rol-Co
For wprime you used Corsair H50 too?
Here is what we did a few days ago. (01001,eDDI, and me)

Cards were running stock and we ran out of LN2
If I understand well the cpu was on LN2, the frequency was low though.
BUT scores are nice:D
Waiting for a massive update with a fourth card:D
Yeah we only had a few liters of LN2 (5-6) so we ran out of it be4 we could run Vantage on higher clock. Maybe next time :)
for 3D marks i mean, was clock good, 3D mark is not validation or superpi 1 M :D
3.07GHz Sample on water...
Win7 x86, no tweaks.

cinebench 10
http://rol-co.nl/hwi/gulf/cinebench104700.jpg
sorry its 32bit.
@M3KK
Its still the stock H50 indeed.
@chri$h
What temp was youre water?
very nice scores here +10
OMG!! That Vantage score is unbelievable. I cannot imagine how much this will impact rendering. At $1k it might be worth it, but better start saving now.
Oh sh*t :D.
I want one of these beasts :).
Yeee, 32nm will just bring us the revolution !
That's with Corsair H50, which is almost like high-end air.
These guys are not posting any temperatures, but running cinebench with these kind of crazy-volts has been unheard on these kins of coolings, before.
The 32nm shrink seams not only be compensating for 2 new cores, but also is resulting in much cooler temperature too. If that's the case, then we are looking at much higher 24/7 OC on air and water. But first we have to get one of these guys (the brave one) to post a core-temp under Prime-load to confirm these speculations.
Cinebench R10 x64
http://www.abload.de/img/240bclk-cinebencho5bk.png
Have installed coretemp but it says only to tjmax, cant get it reverse...anyone?
They running extremely cool , stock about 26-28 degrees and at 4600 1.44v vantage cpu test just 50.

cinebench 9.5 64bit
http://rol-co.nl/hwi/gulf/cinebench95-64-4750.jpg
TJMax is 105C on the 32nm CPUs tested so far so these chips have lots of head room. This information should be written into Model Specific Register (MSR) 0x1A2 in bits [23:16] in Core i7 and i5 processors. You can use any MSR Tool to read this register. Enter 0x1A2 in the MSR Number box and click on Read MSR.
http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/954/readtjmax.png
The results are in hexadecimal so:
64 hex = TJMax 100
69 hex = TJMax 105
A Core 2 CPU like my E8400 doesn't report anything in this part of the register. (00)
So when can we expect these in stores ?
asus board temp is not realy close to coretemp. i leave the voltage to 1.51 and running cinebench10 , this is what i get.
http://rol-co.nl/hwi/gulf/temp.jpg
Good job, and thx for sharing the temperature.
That temperature is really promising, i7 would hit over 110'C and shut down with that Vcore, for sure.
Here is one with no IHS (i expected it will be harder to pull it off :))

looks like a mess, but the Core seams to be the same size as i7, or maybe even smaller?
Well it was a mess b4 i started the surgery, so there was no need for taking it nice and easy.
anybody with a B steppling Gulftown out there?
anybody with a DFI prerelease Bios out there?
... thanks
No, and no. ;)
But you already knew that ^^
RealTempGT.exe that supports these new Gulftown processors is ready for some beta testing.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/u1iihp
If there are any bugs head to the RealTemp thread and post some screen shots.
D*mn, those are some sick results! Plus the Gulftown :banana::banana::banana: makes it even better. :D
How do you guys get ahold of the ES chips, anyways?
Can someone run a Winrar benchmark with a CPU ~4.8 - 5G ? :)
Is a winrar benchmark not hdd related??
Here a wprime @5g :D
http://www.rol-co.nl/hwi/gulf/wprime5grec.jpg
some vantage too
http://rol-co.nl/hwi/gulf/vantage-4770-800-1115.jpg
Still water man? :D
No, its not. Its memory bandwidth , and multithread :).
Still H50 with an open window at the room ....so a little colder.
But i don't think its using the full monty .....
http://rol-co.nl/hwi/gulf/winrarbench.jpg
Try WinXP
http://www.abload.de/img/4ghz-winrarmbqq.jpg
more MHz donīt bring much more...
http://www.abload.de/img/4.7ghz-winrarr2gm.png
So basicly its a :banana::banana::banana::banana:ty test ........
Chri$ch try with memory over 1100 c8 :), or so :D.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=109
1100 ?? that should be 275 bclock ......euhhh that would be great
Not with this chip, 2:6 and 2:8 avalible only at the bios. ;)
itīs bios related ;)
Think so yeah chris, first nehalem had the same issue.
Yeah,it's BIOS related.Gigabyte recently update (for Gulftown)BIOS.
hiwa post today last pic show 2:10(DDR3 2154),but dual channel:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=237493
Thanks Chri$ch for show 2:10 multi.:D
He,he latest or special BIOS.;)
omg...over 6MB/s winarar !
Not al board and bios , mine can't unfortunaly.
Max 1m and scales nicely with voltage, (i know its too much :) )
http://rol-co.nl/hwi/gulf/5237.jpg
And maximum playing at the bios
http://rol-co.nl/hwi/gulf/stupid.jpg
@ FlanK3r
please remove the pics from your quote, theyīre only 2 posts above ;) :)
ok ,-)
Still the corsair H50 with a little cold air (10-12 degrees) just to see how the cooler responds on that.
Now testing with a true + sanyo denki fan, see if there is some difference.
@ unclewebb
Indeed but they seem to die easely above 1.55 , and sub 8 it will be easy if i was running XP.
http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives...five_years.php
I think we have to get used to using translator software ourselves or start learning Chinese because most people on the internet are going to be writing Chinese in a few years.
BTW sometimes if stuff like google translate gives unusable/ridiculous translations I just copy and paste the characters one by one into an online Chinese dictionary then look at the various definitions. And if you do this for all the words usually you can figure out the correct combination of words-plus if you have a killer memory eventually you'd remember at least some words and sorta know some Chinese. It's like a puzzle almost. Of course it takes forever if it's a really long post or something so if you're really lost you should run it through google translate and then whatever doesn't make sense still you just do one by one.
hit prediction 5 years from now XS will be 100% English content :D
Stock vapochill Ls cpu cooler with modded 1366 mount
32m at 240 bclock
http://rol-co.nl/hwi/gulf/240bc-32m.jpg
and max 1m
http://rol-co.nl/hwi/gulf/1max.jpg
242 bclock maxed out.
wow that's very high. But why only 2 core packages enabled? (to go higher or run cooler?)
Enough for pi , it runs cooler and get the 25x multi for 1m .
awesome. does it affect stability? ( could you run with all 6 and it would be stable enough for those tests? )
Like this? ;)
http://rol-co.nl/hwi/gulf/x24.jpg
haha awesome. I'm so excited about these chips. It's destroying my insides! I better get of XS so i don't hear about the i9 anymore. These must be a video/3d rendering monster.
We really appreciate the info but please speak in English as a lot of people just can't read it! :)
Can't wait for Gulftown though! What a beast.
Don't any of you guy's ever get tired of sucking Intel's :banana::banana::banana:?
Here is mine, on air-cooling. U120E w/dual 12cm fans,:D

...f*ck! This is OC, omg...
Mine is still on air, hope soon to run on lnē as soon as new cpu tube arrives :

hi guys, i need some a little help from you. A friend of mine bought a Gulftown 2.4, one of the first version. The CPU can work with Rampage Extreme II or UD5. He has a Rampage Extreme II and tested 0010 bios and 0077 bios. The first don't work while the second spawn errors. He can charge the S.O. but after 10 seconds, when cast a program, has immediatly a crash ( blu screen). Can you help me? Anyone know an another good bios for that CPU? he can't change the motherboard because he bought it two days ago
Thanks
Try using the latest 1639 BIOS.
Try other memory, a friend of me had same problems with a 2.53GHz and elpida hyper based memory (Corsair).
if its not the memory its the CPU (dead), had also 3 samples with such problems (i think the IMC was defect)
Bios 0077 works with every Gulftown (Q2WV, Q3E2, Q3FE, Q3QP, Q3QR, Q3QS etc).
Mmh. he uses 12 gb Corsair Dominator. Today he said me that the PC ( with 0077 bios) now charge the S.O. but, while before the system crashed immediatly ( blu screen), now he get almost entirely to the end of installation but few minutes to the end the PC reset itself.
did he try it with more VTT (IMC) voltage? maybe 1.25 - 1.3v can help.
Bump for i9 on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-6-Core-Xeo...item414b591d1d
$1200 Buy it now
---
Anyone know when these babies will hit retail (besides Q1 obv)? I was about to build an i7 system for my rendering, but I'll hold off if I can get an i9 soon. Also, any clues on prices? The ebay seller is putting them at $1200, and I would think he knows something... $1200 for a very powerful, rare CPU... retail around $600? I'd buy it if so. I HOPE YOU'RE LISTENING INTEL!
(p.s. if you are listening, please don't sue me. not my auction, i'm just the messenger!!!)
Wow can i get one with no heatspreader pic?
