You have great case design here. Realize that there is no way you'll satisfy everyone's desire though. That's the nice thing about modding cases. If you don't like it then mod it.
I think you are on to a very flexible design. If someone doesn't like 3.5" bays it should be easy enough to swap it with a 5.25". If you don't want the bay turned sideways then mount the other way around.
My one suggestion to make the design a little more flexible would be to put a fan hole on the bottom of the PSU tray so you could flip the PSU over if you didn't want the fan facing up.
You have stated that you use 6 5.25" bays, when you actually only need to use 3. The hard drives could be mounted in a HDD rack. If you were building a system in my case, you could even use the top two bays for reservoirs....Quote:

with your most recent update, this case is alot more viable to produce. Only thing i could suggest is a proper square box frame at the back like tj07 as opposed to using one sheet of ally as it will give alot more strength and be cheaper stil to manufacture. Here's the first render of my case design with the latest changes. It shows the motherboard in the typical orientation, with the, optional, full optical drive rack at the top, and the extra HDD rack at the bottom. You may notice that I have added a Cooler master MegaFlow 200mm fan at the front and a few more details. I Haven't got much time at the moment, but I will try and add a some more renders as soon as I can. Still looking for someone to build it though! :shrug:

I assume the latest changes (full internal 5.25 bay mounts on top and the HDD rack on bottom) will be removable? I hope so; if they are that will still allow full radiators and/or space for pumps/etc but still have the option of mounting full stuff in them when installed. I don't really see a need for the bottom HDD cage with the one already in the middle (will the mid-hdd be removable?, no biggie if not, imo). Just my :2cents:

Thanks for the kind words! Yes, the optical drive rack at the top can be replaced with a short version, and both the HDD racks can be remove or rotated if you wish. You could even use the small HDD rack in the middle section if you only require two drives. I'm also in the process of designing an alternative rack for mounting SSD drives.Quote:

Very nice design! I really like it and I would love to see more cases like this brought to production. It looks like a good case built with water cooling in mind. That place for a 480 rad is welcome.

Mick, just a strange idea but what about a M-ATX version of this case?? Same depth and width but just cut the top rad section off and shorten the mid section for a M-ATX board rather than an ATX board. I know i would personaly buy one from who ever produced it and im sure some people looking for a SFF would too.

Dude, that thing is incredible. Only one thing I'd do to improve it (imo). Remove that hole above the PSU, and change the box on which the PSU rests to a pair of long rails with a strip of rubber padding on each, so that the PSU fan faces down towards the bottom of the case. Reason being, it's too unlikely to get a PSU fan that lines up exactly with that hole -- my way, the fan can be wherever, and still have a clear air path.
Even without my suggestion...I love that case so much.
IMO the PSU fan does not need to line up exactly with the hole in the case. I still say that the PSU fan is best utilised increasing air flow through the centre section.Quote:

Just noticed something. It's going to be fun to plug in those optical dives when it's so close that res. Perhaps extending the case by an extra inch or so would get rid of that and keep cables tidy.
***EDIT*** Also it would be cool to add another feature that would be unique in making it clean. How about a mesh guard or something like that on the back of the Optical drive bay? Make sure it still has air flow with mesh but many of the times I am painting the back of my optical drives to hide it or match it to the build so they don't stick out like a sore thumb.

The mobo tray is removable and flippable so the "window" panel can be on whichever side you prefer. :)

I'd guess that the mobo tray will look similar to the TJ07 one in that the backplate is attached to the tray itself and can be flipped as a complete unit. :)

Great design, I very nearly almost had this identical case submitted to Ben for my own custom case im getting fabbed... In the end I found with the top/bottom rad positioning the case became way too long for my tastes, and I was worried about stability when the rad (and all the weight) is up so high with the case being very thin it could become tippy, also if a leak occurs anywhere in the loop, you have all that water *ABOVE* the components. Plus I wanted a Horizontal MOBO mount so I could add panel mount barbs around the edges as needed and minimize tubing mess. With a horizontal mount you literally have the ability to mount coolant inches away from the source to the destination... all hidden.
Anyways back on topic,
When designing the rad mounts I struggled with the fact of making a case *just* for one specific radiator, after some simple measurements I came up with a very simple mod to increase radiator compatibility/flexibility. Drill out the screw holes on the rad brackets so they are oval shaped as so:

This will allow me to slide the radiator back and forth up to an inch in either direction to allow:
-wider pumps/tubing/LCD screen..whatever
-other brands of radiators with different hole spacing.
My design will fit up to and including any inline triple 140 or quad 120mm rad on the market, although a quad 120 would not line up *perfectly* the ends would stick over the edge of the bracket..however airflow would still be clean through the rad.
Cutting out your fan mounting holes would allow this case to accept any type of inline 120mm radiator..and add the flexibility to fine tune the radiator positioning as needed.

Hmm, The only thing i don't like about this chassis is the top rad. It will be disaster if it leeks. Thats why I'm thinking to go with one rad in the front and one in the bot. But that gives less 5.25 bays. Maybe Ill build something like yours or a near copy :) Haven decided yet.
In that case I will make a door on the chassis so I get a clean front and maybe change the location of the mic and usb to get it more convinient. You will have to bend down to plug in a usb or headphones. And wouldn't the top rad fill one of the reservoirs with water to the top? or will it level out when the pump starts? Because you want to have the same level on both reservoirs. And how are you planing on fill/drain ports?
Would you be able to fit EK250 reservoirs with ddc's in there if you use d-plugs? Because thats what I plan on using.

I've lurked on these forums for years (I was a pretty active member of OCforums in my WCing days), but had to come out the bushes for this one. This is a beautiful design. :up: The best part is everything has been designed with function in mind first. That’s refreshing to see with some many eyeball gadgets being sold today.
Be sure to balance production cost to your final product. Consider the number of plasma cuts and the number of Break Press bends it will take to shape each component in your design. I really like the designed of the HD cages, but they may prove expensive to manufacture than they have to. How about a simpler U shaped design at the same width as a 3.5”HD and without the recessed hole system.
As I look at your layout, it looks like you have 19 separate components that need to be cut and fabricated. Here’s what I see:

With a 120.3 rad fitted, there won't be room for a long PSU.

Mick... dunno how your progress is going on this... but some questions...
1)have you gotten some quotes?
2)now that you have a "working" design, did you start looking at the parts to see if it can be made economically?
i only say this cus it seems there is only 1 seam for the outer chassis... while this may be quite doable... you may want to consider one or 2 more seams to make the parts "smaller" and create less waste when cutting.
look at how lianli assembled their chassis (since it's curved panels are similar to yours)
3)i googled and was able to find some companies that makes steel chassis.... i googled under "sheet metal workshop new jersey"
4)you can also try www.RFQWork.com to see about getting quotes on protos.
big name case manufacturers are interested only in making their product and if any, would buy your design ideas... or even knock off...
you may be better off getting quotes within the states and see how much it'll cost to make.. oh say, 50 of em...
maybe go to For Sale section and take pre-orders...
assuming the price isn't completely outrageous i'd definately be down with a preorder
A case like this needs to be produced in larger scales to not be THAT expensive. Its still going to be expensive. But all the good stuff is :)

I think the (2) 240 Brackets are more than enough to hold 2/3/4 fan radiators without issue. Good way to reduce costs. Every little bit helps.
That's a cool design, but for me I would love the edges to be straight right angled, instead of curved. But definetely, that's a case that's hard to find and probably lots of us here are striving for to accomodate our modern beasty rads :D

instead of a radiator mount that is fixed for 120mm radiators, why not just supply with brackets that will hold from the bottom like this?

the base of it can attach to the case via machine screws and provide a slot at the base so to accommodate for thicker/thinner radiator width.
the fan spacing will allow for 120mm and 140mm radiator placement so long as it is 15mm spacing.
that way, you have ability to use the upcoming 140mm radiators as well as a 120mm radiator of any sizes AND thickness...
yes there will be a gap when you mount fan on top... nothing a simple neoprene washer or two cannot handle...
oh, and one more thing thats beneficial about this bottom rad bracket... less material... less waste = better cost...
Thanks for your input kinghong. Just a couple of things I need to point out. Any thickness of rad can be fitted to my rad bracket. Now that the brackets have slots, any 120mm rad can be fitted what ever the fan spacing. It will not be possible to fit 140mm rads without increasing the height of the case by another 40mm. I don't want to shorten the brackets, as they will help to strengthen the case......Quote:
