Impressive sleeving:up:...I had a hard time getting all the heat shrink and sleeving the same lenth
Printable View
Im supossed to get my sleeving in the next few days..
Hope I can do as good a job as you have!
Hungry for more pictures ^^
so how DID you measure your sleeving on the wire? Did you stretch the sleeving much? Could you give me an approximation? (i.e. measure it from the beginning of the wire to 1inch from end and stretch the rest etc.)? :)
I wanna get my job as perfect as yours :)
Fantastic job - no complaints on my end :D
Be prepared for some sore fingers buddy. :D
Pretty much as Snipe says, it's best to read Dangals' sleeving guide in the computer cases section of this board. It's not so easy to explain in a few words.
Today i got me some new RAM as the Cellshocks kept annoying me with coldboot problems, i never got it to boot first attempt.
This afternoon i had enough of that and bought some very nice new Corsair Dominators PC8500.
It booted right up, no problems and seems stable as well, what more could i ask for? :)
This evening i've planned to get the mobo in and have everything connected to do the bleeding/leaktesting.
It's gonna be a long night i think, let's hope my string of bad luck has ended by now.
Took a quick snap just to show how cable management turned out even though it's far from finished of course.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...d/IMG_5795.jpg
Please excuse the bad quality, the light was already fading but i wanted to show some progress. (Can you spot picachu in the background? :D)
yes I can spot pikachu in the background
and a nice mod offcourse, picture's quality isn't that bad at all ;)
Nice job! I've read all of these MM threads so far but the one thing I haven't found out yet, is how much does powder coating cost? In particular, I notice that you powdercoated all of the non painted TJ07 parts. How much did this cost?
Also, I guess all of the compnents in the TJ07 are riveted? These are drilled out with a 1/8" drill? How do you re-rivet the parts? Any special tool?
Thanks!
its getting along very nicely indeed, best of luck Zeus.
Thats a nice looking picture from the backside Zeus!
Did you extend the molex thats running from the top 2 fans?
What's that cable thats running from the top, through your small PSU port?
Didnt know you could run a cable through, since the motherboard is sliding in and closing off the backside..
How are you going to route the sata cable to your motherboard?
Im thinking of cutting another hole next to the sata ports on the mobo..
So many questions.. arrrgh.
Curious to see how sexy and sleek its going to look when its installed ^^
"Nothing that's worth having comes easy"
Cable management is looking good... looks like hopefully you're in the home stretch .. can't wait to see this thing finished up.
Thanks Nils. ;)
Thanks. I had to take the pics when the light was already fading. I have to work during the daylight hours so i'm forced to take pics with crappy light.
I will try to make some better ones though.
Thanks Saud. :)
Thanks bro.
What top fans do you mean? I did not extend any cable.
The cable you see running to the top is the 8pin power cable.
I made a hole in the midplate, behind the mobotray, that's how i routed the cables.
Why don't ya come over to have look man? ;)
Thanks you. No home stretch unfortunately, i have to do this in the evenings, after work. :(
Yesterday i got everything together but i ran into some nasty snags. :(
1) The pump is making a whining noise now-- i hope this will end when all the air is bled out.
2) My 100cm sleeved Revoltec sata cables are way too long, i used some ugly red ones now-- i have to replace and sleeve them.
3) The PCI-e cable i sleeved looked nice but my stupid videocard seems to make use of a 6 pin connection!--more sleeving ahead!
4) I did not have the right screws to mount the Nexus HDD silencers-- i will look for screws. (black ones of course)
5) The internal usb cable for the display broke--fixed that by soldering it again.
6) The CPU/NB clock frequency seems to degrade. At first i was able to run 2.8+GHz CPU/NB freq. at stock voltage, about a week ago it was only stable at 2.6GHz and now it has trouble to even reach 2.2GHz-- i'm hoping it will die rapidly so i can RMA the sucker.
The good part is that the CPU temp went from 50ºC idle (no joke!) to 29-30ºC idle with the fans turned down all the way! :)
How 's that for an improvement?
Powdercoating the internal parts has cost me €85,- but i have to say the powdercoating on the M|M parts looked better. It's still nice though.
Only the pci slots/io-shield part is riveted and the mobotray rail is rivited, you can drill them out with a 3mm drill.
Putting it back together is done with a rivet tool.
Here's a quick shot at how it looks now, you can see the hideous red sata cables and the unsleeved PCI-e powercable.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...d/IMG_5802.jpg
Gonna sleeve that cable tonite.
The display:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...d/IMG_5812.jpg
How's that for dedication? :D
LEIPE :banana::banana::banana::banana: OUWE!!!!!
Great work..
Gr Yil
Nice Work ! So beautiful ! I love !!
Thanks guys.
Fortunately i got a few things sorted now.
The whining noise seems to be gone for the best part, probably air in the loop.
The issue with the HDD mounting is fixed, the PCI-e cable is sleeved.
The problems with instabilty were caused by the new RAM.
I could not get the system stable, not even at stock speed!
I put the trusty old Cellshocks back in and it was running like a champ again, i guess i'll have to deal with the coldboot problems.
Here's a little bench i did this evening just to start with:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...tory/sub17.jpg
I think there is more left but i only just got started overclocking it for real, i think it has plenty left. :)
Hopefully tomorrow i can make some new pics.
Lookin good zeus! I should have my rig up and running tomorrow
wow.... that looks awesome Zeus
The white led lighting sure looks pretty!
It's great that you got your issues straightened out and its finally running... the Led lighting looks great...not too bright and not too dim.
One question I had was with your fan controller, how do you like it so far. I just ordered one but couldnt find any good reviews on it?
Zeus, I recently stumbled upon your project and want to compliment you on a job well done. If I were you I would be extremely pleased and proud of what I accomplished. I really like your attention to detail. Your hard work shows up loud and clear in the final results. Great job!
Thanks Jesse, i'll keep an eye on your buildlog, it looked very good the last time i checked.
Thanks guys.
Well, the controller itself is nice but it needed a little modding, i spraypainted the side-mountingplates and i sleeved the molex cable. 1 knob (cover) came of and i had to glue it back in postion-- all fine now.
The brushing on the aluminium is horizontal where the brushin on the bezels is vertical but in all it looks fine and it works great, no crackling sounds like i once had with a fancontroller.
Thank you very much, i have to tell you it was a lot of hard work but it was worth it. Even though it ain't finished yet it looks nice.
I finally got rid of the whining noise of the pump-completely! :)
I used 2 these:
http://www.aquatuning.de/images/prod...x400/816_0.jpg
I tried to make pics today but it was an overcast rainy day so i broke out the 500watt halogen but it didn't look good-at all.
At least i can show the sleeved PCI-e cable now :D:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...d/IMG_5813.jpg
Gonna order the black sata cables tonight, i couldn't find them locally.
Really looking good, Zeus. You've done a nice job with all the detail, and your sleeving is top notch!
Looks awesome Zeus I admire your build given me plans for my new case, but its not a Tenjim though :P
Ninja
Topper Zeus,
nice clean build!!
Gr Yil
I love it Zues!
I builds look very similar, only real difference from the side view is that you have the Dtek block and the EK res.
I even have that Corsair ram cooler on :D
Good job on the 4GHz also :D
I've been finding it very hard to get a high stable clock with 8GB ram
I hope you try to get it higher :D
Thanks all very much, your comments make it worthwile.
I can imagine 8GB of rams makes things more complicated, good luck with it Al.
Having said that, the Corsair Dominators i had purchased recently made the system unstable beyond imagination, even at stock settings.
Yesterday i returned them and asked them for some OCZ platinums, those were not in stock but i'll pick them up as soon as they're in, it's only a 10 minute drive.
For the timing being i'll make do with the Cellshocks and their coldboot behaviour.
This morning i woke up to a nice sunny morning so the first thing that went through my mind was: Pictures!
Whilst cleaning the case, making it free of dust and fingerprints the light faded real fast till it became completely overcast. :(
I tried the best i could to take some pics but they came out bad, i tried different ISO but the result is somewhat coarse.
I will put 'm on and promise to make better ones when conditions are more favourable.

Thumbs UP!!!
Where is my bezel?
:D:D:D
Great photos! And your daughter is adorable. I think she is very proud of Dad's handiwork, and rightfully so.
Great work Zeus. It's nice to see it all come together in one nice cohesive unit that I'm sure you'll enjoy for years to come.
Any plans for the red SATA cables? They look like they could use some lovin. ;)
what led strip did u go with
Beautiful work Zeus!
Awesome work man, your daughter is adorable. Keep up the great work!!
The bezel is right here buddy, come over to pick it up man. ;)
Thanks Shazza, she was watching me taking the pics all the time, asking questions like what's this and what's that?
I decided to put here next to the case to show how big the case really is.
The pic turned out nice so i decided to put it up. :)
Thanks man! I despise the horrible red cables but it was to only thing i had left.
Black ones are already on their way. :)
Like Yil said. ;)
Thanks man!
Thanks man, i'm close to being finished now.
Things left to do:
-change red sata cables
-get a sidepanel with window or make one in the exsisting panel
-get a new videocard+ FC block
-enjoy my new build :D
is that ek 150 res correct?
nice build
do those cold cathode lights change the color of tubing( i am going to need non uv cathodes)?
Nope, it's a 200mm res. This is one of the very first, EK now only makes 150 or 250mm, besides 400mm.
There are no ccfl's in my case, just a strip of 24 white leds.
Great work Zeus, glad to see it turned out excellent.
I wouldn't trade my PC if I had a kid like that either great work :)
Hope you will do another one to make us dribble again :P

It's been a pleasure to watch this build .... Everything looks great.
How's that AlphaCool LCD working out, software and such.... I like that Nvidia logo you had on there
Also any thought of removing that Alphacool logo like how you removed the silverstone logo..
Thanks for the kind words and visiting this thread on regular base.
I did not really plan to make a new build any time soon, at least not for myself.
The computer is great and might look a million dollar, the little girl is absolutly priceless. ;)
Thanks. I tried removing the alphacool logo like i removed the silverstone logo but it didn't budge. Same goes for the Zalman logo on the fancontroller.
If anyone knows a way to remove both logo's i'd be pleased to hear.
The software for the alphacool display is a bit of a pain as it seems like alphacool could not be bothered to update it.
The plugins it works with are kinda dated and most won't work well with my motherboard or with AMD in general.
Speedfan gives very odd values for voltages, Asus Probe is supported but only very old versions that won't work with my board, everest works but cannot read out the temps of all 4 cores independent and MBM5 won't work with my board either. :(
It does display some logo's very nicely and it shows the default information from windows.
I will spend some qualitytime with it as the main purpose for me was to let it show voltages and temps actually.
Hopefully alphacool will wake up and update their sofware.
How DID you remove the silverstone logo?
zeus your have a lot of skills keep up bro
I've been told Goof off works very well. ;)
Thanks man.
Tonite i ordered my new videocard, a HD4870 so i'm gonna need a new fullcoverblock.
What do you people think would suit my case best?
EK- copper acetal (my first choice)
EK- copper plexi (lexan?)
EK- nickel plexi
Keeping in mind that the heatpipe on the board is all copper i think a copper block would suit best.
EK Nickel-Plexi...................
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...n/DSC01825.jpg
FTW!
Maybe the HEATKILLER® GPU-X² 4870 LT
Link
or
aquagratiX for HD 4870
http://shop.aquacomputer.de/images/p...ages/23459.jpg
Fantastic job Zeus!
I really look forward to seeing your final shots when the weather decides to cooperate. :)
That truely looks gorgeous but i doubt whether it will suit my build actually, apart from the fuZion mountingplate i don't have much chrome or nickel.
Thanks for the suggestions but i personally like the looks of the EK fullcoverblocks the best.
The price is around the same i think?
Thanks once again Charles.
Once the new graphics card plus fullcoverblock and black sata cables are in will give the Canon powershot another run for it's money. :D
Looking good, I'm sure you will make the best/right choice for you build Zeus, my opinion I think the Full Cover Aceatl(black one) would look good.
Ninja
I've been real busy Zeus, (sleeving is a b*** ^^)
By God... Your rig looks wicked!
It's everything I anticipated and more! Job well done sir.
The upgrade to an 4870 is an obvious choice. I'd go for the EK-acetal.
The copper look will blend in nicely with your motherboard cooling indeed.
Nice touch with the switch! You've convinced me to remove the frontpanel aswell.
There are far better uses for it i've been thinking of..
Your daughter is adorible. Such a sweet and innocent face :)
(nitpicking: Wish there would be a way to remove the Zalman logo from the fancontroller..)
Zeus get the Nickle plated with the Acetal top! I love how mine looks. Can't see the water but it looks slick :p:
Thanks.
Yeah, the copper acetal is the one i'm thinking of but now i have my OCZ platinum with silver heatspreaders there's a tad more chrome now...
Many thanks my friend. :) The sleeving isn't the nicest of jobs indeed but once you're finished the looks are really rewarding.
So, that makes another vote for the acetal...
If you need help with your build just give me a shout ok?
The Zalman logo kinda stinks but it looks like i have to deal with it, just like the alphacool logo. :(
Thanks Jesse, just when i started making up my mind, haha.
I guess it will be the one that will take my fancy at the day of clicking the order button, so it will be a surprise for me too.
I've been messing with the board and cpu, tying to get a decent overclock out of it and was able to run 3D mark 06 at 3.9GHz (18K marks) but a day after that run i tried again and it was barely stable in windows.
I flashed numbers of bios' but ended up with the very first one.
I picked the new ram up today, OCZ Platinum PC 8500 2x1GB and after some playing around i got 'm stable, running memtest 3.7 for half an hour without errors. :)
The new videocard is on it's way so i still have some work ahead.
edit: Just ordered the block after asking the wifes opinion on which would look better. :) (surprise! :D)
Oh noes!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...d/DSCN1816.jpg
Now i have two. :D
Let's hope the videocard and block will follow soon.
Oh noes! You gave a spare PSU for me! THanks man :D
haha, joking :P
lookin' very nice.
You give me the money, i'll give you the PSU. :D
Thanks. ;)
Vacation is gonna have to wait, no funds left. :D
I had to rma my psu but it took so long i douldn't wait and bought a new one.
Have to sell this one off now. ;)
The videocard and block will be here today or monday i think.
edit: Videocard is here, the block was here as well but nobody was home. :( Monday it will be. Got 17K 3d mark 06 stock with the new card. :)
More bad news. :(
Today a very handsome block came in...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...d/IMG_5879.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...d/IMG_5881.jpg
Not bad eh?
But now the problem:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...d/IMG_5883.jpg
I have a HD4870, not a HD4850, i ordered the right one but got the wrong one.
More delays.
The black sata cables still aren't here, the owner of the shop i ordered them at has been sick all week.
Oh well...
The videocard seems nice though but the stock cooler is extremely noisy with the fan over ~35%.
Zeus: You know what's good!!! Congrats for good stuff in your hands!
Thanks Nils but now read the post, the block looks gorgeous but unfortunately it's not the right one. I think the only difference between the 4870 and 4850 block is the black anodised alu Vreg cooler though.
Just keep it as decoration :D
KEEP GOING you know if your going to want to power mutliple video cards just get a thermaltake Vga psu they give two 30 amp 12v rails and fit in 5.25 in bay
they pretty much get the risk of supplementry psu's failing
Great looking case, inspiration for my next build. Those cable clips you used, what sizes did you use for single and multi wire runthroughs ?
Hehe, too expensive for a decoration, i want it to decorate my 4870!
Yesterday i got an email from EK telling me the block itself is exactly the same. The only difference is the Vreg cooler. Now let's pray Aquatuning will cooperate and just send me that little thingie. :D
Thanks.
The small clips are 1/8" , the bigger ones are 3/8".
I'm pretty sure on ek's website they sell those separate so the supplier you deal with shouldn't have a problem doing so if there decent at all ;)
Since a number of post as missing since the last downtime of XS i'll repost the pics of my videocard.

Videocard is a Sapphire HD4870 1GB and seems to be 3d mark stable at 870/1180 and temp never exceed 38ºC. :)
Great stuff zeus :D I still have one FC4870 nickel at my house that never got sold, man its a sweet block :D
Looks very nice Zeus, gonna keep an eye on your build. :)
nice. very very nice !
Wow! very tidy
great mode
Excellent build, I am truly impressed.
Is that 5/8 OD or 1/2 OD tubing?
Thanks guys! It's nice to see this thread's been brought up again.
Thanks, it's only 1/2"OD.
The case has undergone some minor changes, it's inhabited by an Asus Crossfire III and a Phenom II 955 Black Edition now.
I already have another fullcover Nickle GPU block for a second videocard to run crossfire in the near future.
I will post some pics when it's done.
Looking forward to updates ... how do you like the 955 system?
955BE works great, i like it a lot, this CPU overclocks better than my former 940BE. It´s running 3.8GHz 24-7 with 1.36Vcore. :)
Today i finally made the window in the sidepanel.
After months of pondering and trying to orget about it i bit the bullet and decided to make a window just by hand.
So i only used a stepped drill, a dremel, a file and some sanding paper but i have to say i'm pretty damn happy with the result :D
Here's a quick photo i took:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...d/IMG_6271.jpg
I still have to paint the bare alu edges and get the lexan window in place but you get the idea.
More pics when it's done.
Very nice Zeus!! Absolutely beautiful!! Not to be critical...:D...but......how bout making that top left fan center flat black like the ram fans?
Very nice job on that side window - especially done by hand!
That's not a job for the faint of heart! :)
Yea well done job.
Thanks for the kind comments. :)
Cut out the Lexan window with a jigsaw:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...d/IMG_6272.jpg
Now i'm waiting for the paint to cure so i can stick it to the panel.
forgive my noob question, i'm usually an intel user.
i see you have a heatkiller on an AMD setup, did you use a backplate at all?
That's right, i used the stock metal backplate.
I also used the mounting from my old Dtek FuZion with the springs from the Heatkiller, works a lot easier than the screws that come with the Heatkiller imo.
This is what she looks like right now:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...d/IMG_6413.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...s/IMG_6390.jpg
thanks for the info guys. like i said, i know nothing about amd, but i'm thinking i'll build an AMD htpc soon, and i'm planning to watercool it.
your build looks amazing by the way.
Great looking build, makes me want to finish mine now.
Is that a R2E heat pipe assembly?
No, that is the stock heatpipe assembly for the Crosshair III Formula.
Absolutely Gorgeous!! Very very nice Dood....Now get down here & build one for me!!!
oops my bad
i thought that was a M2F and you changed the heat pipe on it
sorry for the mistake there ;)
Haven't been here in a while and what do I find?
An amazing rig. You did an amazing job m8. I'm so shocked that our systems look almost identical on the inside. The only difference is the 120mm fan you have and the res up top.
Great minds think alike ;)
By the way, how did you mount that 120mm fan, it's ingenius.
Zeus - like the new motherboard and the HK cpu block.
what happened to the alphacool lcd you use to have? Also you planning on getting the EK fullboard block for your mb?
The Alphacool LCD had to go in favour of the Asus OC station, i still have it laying around.
I'm still unsure about getting the Fullboard block, i really like the look of it but the chipset doesn't really need the extra cooling, the mosfet could use some extra cooling though.
The block will add heat and extra restriction to the waterloop, don't know if it's worth it.
One of these days i might go crazy and order it anyway. :)
Next change will be swapping the Yate Loons for some 1850rpm Gentle Typhoons.
Great job man. :)
Great work!
I like the black tubing. I'm currently starting a black\white build, so it's nice to see how black tubing looks.
Thanks.
Sorry but i don't really understand your question.
The cable in the pic you quoted is actually the 24 pin ATX cable from the PSU, no extension cable.
For sleeving, go to the "computer cases" section of this board and look for the cable sleeving guide, you'll find all the info you need there. :)
I would love to have used clear Tygon but i hate the look of it after a few months of use, all cloudy and ugly.
Black stays black and looks good imo.
Once you've had black.... :D
hello nice case u have  .. i hope you post more pictures of heatkiller soon. since im interested of wc setup, especially hk 3.0.. 50 euros is very good price :) Im planning to put MCR320 on front in the case but I need figure out it at first how to do exactly. It is many years away before I get your skills :)
Hey Zeus, how did you attach the Lexan window to the side panel - and what type of paint did you use to touch up the exposed aluminum edges?
Thanks :)
Thanks Tomasis. :)
Maybe some day when i cleaned out the case i will make some new pics, been pretty busy benching lately.
I used double sided tape but i'm not satisfied with the result, the tape is somewhat thick making the window offset a little.
I just used normal satin black paint for the edges, nothing special.
