i just actually flashed the bios to 1050mhz.
in GPU-Z shows in the first screen 1050mhz but in the sensors shows only 1000mhz. in rivatuner the same, shows memories at 1000mhz.
did i miss a step for memories in the RBE?? i put in the clocks 10, 11 and 12 800mhz and 1050mhz.... or maybe riva and gpu-z doesnt show the frequency properly??
no help here?? please...

I succses with flash from asus HD 4870X2 to HD 4870X2 TOP....now my VGA Core 790 Memory 915
I successfully flashed both of my cards with the Asus bios 800/1000, I can run 845/100 any higher and it artifacts or freezes.... :up:

Don't see why not. Have a emergency backup flash in case its not. I don't think you'll need it though.
Guys, Just flashed with the TeamAU bioses on Post 32.
Vgpu is still 1.26 despite adjusting the ROMS to 1.35v.
Is the hardmod required?

Hi Guys,
I flash the asus top bios in my powercolor 4870x2 using the team-au bios file and information from the previous post and everything seemed okay.
The driver installs but after reboot it does not recognize the vga.
I tried to installs differents drivers but no one worked.
Anyone know what that problem?

Don't understand the problem but if your card wont display you could blind flash or even better use a PCI card to see what you are doing & re flash the 4870x2.Quote:

While the Asus TOP bios do allow you to clock your memory higher, it must be as a result of looser memory timings.
Prior to Flash - 830/1025 (4.1Ghz)
After Flash - 830/1125 (4.5Ghz)
While that 4.5Ghz GDDR5 speed sure looks impressive, it doesn't really perform all that different than the 4.1Ghz prior to the flash. :shrug:
I'm going to install a FC waterblock on my visiontek card later this week. Is this bios compatible with visiontek? Also, just to make sure that 1000mhz mem is okay on my card, is it safe to flash one bios, reboot, check windows, then flash the other?

Ok, so I flashed my MSI 4870x2 OC (stock 780/900) with the Asus TOP bios, but even though the MSI card does have Hynix memory it was NOT recognized correctly by both Catalyst 8.10 and 8.11 (complete clean install w/ driver cleaner, safemode and blahblah) showed 2 x "2845MB Hypermemory" and not 2 x 1024 MB GDDR5 like the stock bios.
And while a short test with COD5 seemed to run fine, 3dmark vantage resulted in a flickering total mess. So I flashed back the original bioses "enhanced" with just the TOP signature. Since then one core seems to be stuck permanently @ 789Mhz, and AMD gpu clock tool won't work anymore.
Any idea why it won't work out on my card? It still does overclock fine with overdrive, but not beyond 830/950... which of course sucks :P
Next thing I'm gonna try is shooting up the MSI bios with the diamond viper signature and see what happens.
(temps are fine btw, cooling is by EK, so I am pretty disappointed so far... framerates go up and down like a rollercoaster with 3dmark, but I can play Fallout3, COD5, FC2 etc. pretty smooth @ 2560x1600 ... but I want this :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: to go faster, dammit lol)
update: I took the TEAM-AU roms, filled both with clock settings of 800/975/1.3v except the three "thermal" positions, injected master and slave with the ma. and sl. signatures from the diamond viper bios, disabled "overdrive" in CCC, also disabled ataptive AA, set Catalyst AI back to "standard" (<= advanced seems to cause problems with crossfire), force-flashed both mutants once more, et voila: everything's running fine now, FC2, FALLOUT3, 3dMv, COD5 etc. ^^
CCC still shows "hypermemory", but both GPUZ and Everest recognize card and vram correctly, but whatever, meh...
Thanx all for posting here. Yesterday I flashed my Gainward card with Asus TOP bios - first time flashing bios with videocards :)
Works ok, problems of different cores working on different speeds in 3D has been solved to a large extent (not totally however). Since my PC runs GPU folding client while not gaming, I would like to flash 3D speed in 2D mode so that GPU client works with full efficiency (strange enough, starting GPU client does not automatically increase card speed to 3D). Where I should put 3D speed - red and blue on pics below? Anything else I should know?

As a side effect, I hope, it will solve the rest of problems of one core not increasing the speed in 3D which results in crashing or shuttering since crossfire is not working right.

So i made a bootable floppy , i put all atiflash349 files on the floppy + the two bios files from TeamAU.i boot from floppy and use cmnd :
atiflash -p -f 0 teamau-0.rom and pres enter..................
ERROR no adaptor found !!!!!
I tried like 100 difrent cmnd's but nothing seem to work :-(
i always get errors !!!!

The TOP bios really shouldn't be too high. It's only a very mild OC, and seems to relax memory timings anyways. What are your GPU temps? Ambient?

edit - also you have to set the clock speeds of each GPU in CCC (click the drop-down box).
Even Ati Tool´s furry cube does not rise those clocks.

I think I found the solution..the catalyst 8.12 makes the error.when I install the catalyst 8.11 the problem is gone and bios is working perfect...
I can confirm that the TOP bioses and cat 8.12 is not working together.... But the 8.11 work`s perfectly fine :)

I flashed the TOP BIOS and was able to run with the 8.12s....unfortunately I haven't been able to get a decent OC on my card yet. I'm running my Sapphire 4870X2 on water with a full coverage XSPC Delrin block, and temps are great.
I'm going to attempt to edit the TOP BIOS to higher voltage....we'll see what that yields.
Will this BIOS actually allow 1.35V as shown in the RBE 1.18 BIOS table?
Changing the voltage in the bios does nothing without a hardmod. At least it didn't on my Visiontek card. I tried it with the stock bios and the Asus TOP bios. The voltage remained at stock both ways, as confirmed by GPU-Z and the voltage read points on the back of the card..Quote:

All right I flashed the TOP BIOS again last night and began benching. I'm Vantage stable at 862/1000. I'm going to test for further stability in COD:WaW today.
Ok, maybe someone here can help me. I DL'ed the TeamAU files from earlier in this thread and flashed them to my Visiontek 4870x2 with atiflash 3.6 in dos. Rebooted and when I get to my Raid information screen right after ctrl i to edit raid it just freezes. Can not get into bios, can not get f8 or print to access my boot order. Nothing. Clear CMOS and everything is huncky dory until I enable raid again. Used NTFS Reader to get to my backup drive and copied my original bios files to my flash drive and reflashed those and everything is working fine. What would cause a conflict between the raid controller and the asus bios? Should I try the unmoddified bios? I don't think it is a driver conflict as it doesn't even get to the loading process.
Any ideas?

Heheh, reading is my friend. changed the signiture in RBE and now have higher limits in CCC. For now I just changed the core to 790,915.

The TOP cooler is dual fan different design. It does not seem to be any more effective than the stock HSF assembly though it is quieter.

I have flashed my 4870x2 to the clean 4870x2 TOP bios from page 3.
Though my computer isn't very stable after the flash. 3DMark06 is often artifacting, when I restart it it's gone. My screen doesn't pop up at once when I boot, I often need to restart the computer before I get something on my screen. And the whole system freezes quite often.Quote:

Does any one have both master and slave stock bios for Visiontek 4870x2. Currently having problem with win 7 after installing cards, windows load drivers then I install ati drivers and reboot. After that widows 7 doesn't boot all the way and hangs and gets corrupted. Hoping a re-flash to stock and that fixes it. Anyone have this problem before?

I already found the TEAMAU rips. I wanted stock ones that they had posted a long time ago from ASUS.
Old post but when I originally found it, I registered on the board and it took almost a year to be accepted. Anyway back then I did mess with this bios on my VisionTek X2, but I ran into an annoying issue. For some reason my fan speed would only reach 50% of what the stock bios could put out. My card would get close to overheating after a period of time since the auto fan profile nor manual fan speed could be increased past 50% (Seeing that maybe 100% on the TOP card may be half the speed since it had a much better cooler?).
Either way I had to flash back to stock since I could not keep the card cool enough while using this bios and only 50% fan speed. Did anyone else have a similar issue and find a way around it or am I the only one?

Seems that my 4870x2 doesn't want to work on more than 800 core AT ALL. No vcore rising, nor cooling helps, nothing. It's just the most unlucky 4870x2 ever released ;/
