Great project man. We should have a SFF gallery.
Evil I'll pay for shipping on that dead Q9450 since it's dead.
At least it would be pretty to look at :(
:o i want pictures :'(:'( :D
update
i got a Q9550 (C1.. wish it was a E0) and a slot feed dvd burner
worst part is i got 2 stuck sensors... what is up with that? super
bad luck or something? i hate that.. one of the reasons why i tried
to RMA my Q9450.. i had 1 stuck sensor and now i got 2! its so annoying...
and im getting some REALLY weird temps, but i can trust them because
of the sensors :(
you think sensors ever unstuck themselves?
anyways, i put a fatter heatsink on the NB and it loads at 35C (via smart guardian)
havent decided where to put the rom yet, maybe side ways next to the PSU
well see, cheers

very nice man............. I love it...........contratulation :D:D:D:D
thanks
someone talk me into buying more stuff... :p:
i need another CPU block, i gave my dtek v2 to my gf well because her
apogee drive fitting broke when i was draining and refill her loop...
ive got the supreme on the none fuctional homewrecker and i plan to leave
it there but since its not in commission i guess i could use it first..
you guys think a MCR320 could handle a Q9550 (OCed moderately probably like @ 4...) and the two 4870s... ha
unless my CPU stays on AIR  which i rather not... lol
i wish sleeping wasnt so nice.. i stay up to 3 banging and drilling in my room
then i get up at 6 to get ready for work... ha
theres not enough time in the day, we should add a few hours a day and get rid of leap year
More evil! You need more stuff! :p:
I'll make a list to start you off:
Swifty GTZ for CPU
2nd MCR320 to handle 2 x 4870s and Quad
You could even go dual loop!
Just imagin that, a dual-loop SFF! :ROTF:
... im going for a dual loop lol
first i need a new block to commit to the project
first.. which i definitely can not afford! (seriously! lol)
now that ive moved the PSU and got the slim drive
i could probably get away with dual MCR320s! haha
well see
damn it! now you have me rethinking everything again
poor wallet, its already small to begin with hahah
This is one monster build you got going here, evil!
Hey we're gonna have very similar builds soon bro!
Same mobo, same CPU WB, same GFX card etc. Just different case :p:
Glad to see you're back in business! :)
I'm assuming that's a laptop optical drive; did you get an interface for it so you can use it in your system?
i saw your thread, nice parts  i love that case and all the EK love
thanks charles, yea its a laptop or a slimline drive which uses a slimline ide (aka JAE 50 "50 because its a 50 pin connector")
so ill be ordering a sata to jae adapter which looksing something like this
http://www.soarland.com/shared/image...t/SLSA4001.jpg
they also have ide to jae, right now im looking for a red or black PCB adapter... $16 for an adapter i better then it in the color i want

i found this one but its $25 + shipping... but it looks nice
http://www.shopaddonics.com/mmSHOPAD...adsatapisa.gif
hey evil, what brand slimline drive is that? I was looking for a Panasonic UJ875 slimline slot loader, but went with a Sony/NEC sata tray loader instead, out of placement and dust concerns. I'm excited to see how you will mount it, will it be internal?
Fantastic build man:up:
that is a Pioneer DVR-K06 Slim/Slot DVD Burner and yes it will be mounted internally
Lovely work. Very nice white case:up:
whats faster ide or usb 2.0? its really hard to find a adapter
tho newegg gots a really nice ide to jae 50 adapter for 5 bucks
i dont want to have to order it overseas just to get it in sata interface..
Very nice build! A man after my own SFF heart... You other guys and your full size cases... pfft... ;)
Hey evil i had no idea those slot-loading drives needed an adaptor!
Looks like you got things sorted tho...
Thanks for all the info on the JAE adapters Bro. I agree that the red one looks best. Looking forward to seeing how yours works out.
I'll be coming to you for help with mine. :)
man... i went looking for a adapter locally (frys, a few electronic stores) with little to no luck... i guess im going to have to order it now :(
no problem  im starting to redesign the front again i wonder how well the slot feed drive works
Hey evil, are you gonna use a fan to cool the PWMs?
Remind me, are you using the heatpipe assembly or is that gone?
right now its cooled by the ultra Kaze, but in the future its going to be cooled by 2 50mm fans which you can find on the first page
hopefully i can get a block made for it soon that why i wont have to worry about it
Yeah i'll take one of the mosfet blocks if you make 'em!
YAY for evil making mosfet blocks! :bounce:
Party for 1000 posts
:D
Hey evil! Lookin sweet man!
I'm not sure if you've already ordered that JAE adapter yet, but I found this:
http://www.bettercomputers.com.au/sl...oem-p-848.html
I'm also planning on getting that drive you got and buying this adapter.
But I've got a question, if you've tested the drive out of course, how fast is it?
Is it reasonably fast?
hey smee! long time no talk, hows life.
anyways thanks for the link though there out of stock right now.
i did test the drive, well not really i just plugged it into a laptop and
made sure it functioned correctly. seems relatively fast, didnt have
any issues installing/reading from a disk. i havent burned with it yet
but ill get to it.
UPDATE:
its a SECRET!! shh... im such a tease.
i want to tell, but i rather show as it will only be a few more days!!
*SPOILER ALERT*

Awesome build Evil! as always!
I have the red sata adapter for my Pioneer slot drive. I've been using it for about 8 months now and it works a treat. Cant see mine cos its hidden though! The drive is sorta loud when seeking but I dont use DVDs too much if I can avoid it.
emu
We bow to you, evil! :worship:
That's amazing, i could only dream of craftsmanship like that...
that looks AWESOME mate! kinda reminds me of a certain M*****Box :D
I'd tap that. Seriously.
Looks amazing.
WOW that's awesome!
Custome radgrills really do make it special . .. hmmm .. . . . ideas are appearing. . ..
thanks guys, just noticed the small "E's" are super fragile, ill need to glue a back piece to them to keep them safe.
i got more surprise to come so sit tight. more pics in a bit.
Wow! Just wow.
Do you own a CNC mill and did you do the radgrills yourself?
Well done!
Outstanding!
He must be a really good friend or you robbed a bank! ;)
Those look like easily over an hour of laser cutting and that's not cheap.
I can't wait to see those in place and the paper peeled off.
Bravo! :)
damn that is ultra tightro!!!!!
Awesome work there, I love the attention to details :)
It's very fun to design custom stuff like I did with my project but you are 10x much better

Holy crap, that is a tight fit! Looks great though, keep it up!
HOLY CRAP IS RIGHT!!!!
Dude thats craziness!!!! Keep it up man!
Wow, you've been a busy boy lately evil! :yepp:
I'm liking the BP D-Plug joining the two 4870s.
Are those 1/2 x 3/4 BP compressions, or another dimension?
 im flattered
thanks, hopefully i have no issue because i wasnt so happy with the install
thanks
tell me about it.. i need those out of stock 90*s from bitspowers
Thanks, the BP D-Plug is pretty nice and yes thsoe are 1/2" x 3/4" BP compressions
Yay for single slot solutions, looking awesome!!
Awesome build evil!
Coming along nicely, love the grills.
Where does the slot drive fit. i.e. where to you put the disc in does it fit thru one of the slots on your front cover? It didnt look like it would line up. Slot loading laptop DVD drives FTW! save so much space. And I love slot drives ever since my first Pioneer DVD-ROM (So many years ago).
I'm struggling fitting my hands in and working in ATX cases let alone a SFF!! Great work.
emu
i can't wait to see the finished project evil!
i actually need these http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c..._2019_20465576 i dont have enough space for the rotaries.. :(
is that all your waiting for ? the fittings?
seriously, before i got them i thought they werent going to fit
youll see
me too!
if anyone can hunt me down 2 of those 90s in the US it will be much appreciated. i checked everywhere i know, maybe you guys know of some other places..
TIA
Hey can you believe this build started 5 months ago? In that time we have swapped mobos, killed a cpu, changed to a 4870, gone CF, wc on just about everything. . . . . . :D This is a great log.
Looking good Evil. Can't wait to see what kind of temps you get on your 4870's VRMs with the EK FC blocks. Haven't seen any results posted about these blocks.
yup  im going to be sad when its all over :( but that means i get more time to start another :yepp:
Yea, i havent heard much about these blocks myself, to be honest i only know of a few people here who actually have them.
so far all i can say was the instructions where shoddy especially when it came to there EKs thermal pads and how to prepare them, and memory contact on both cards were kind of bad in areas.
yea thats what was confusing that fat grey pad, i assumed because the other pad were covered that that pad would be covered as well.. i sent like an hour staring at it wondering if that rough side was suppose to be there.. lol and which side up it would go... in the end i put the tacky side down on the chip and called it a day..
we need 90s! and mosfet blocks! lol
56k warning? i'm glad ive got comcast with their superspeed upgrade service
Very nice
-sponge
do people really still use 56k? i know of only a few but still  i like to surprise :p:
i thought you were buying the CNC.. so your telling me ive been waiting for nothing? :D
im still working on it, hopefully all the work will be worth it
thanks

Looking great Evil! I love the sleeving.
I have a pair of the 90 degree fittings you're looking for, but I think Sidewinders is supposed be getting restocked on them on the 10th, which is tomorrow.
Aww it's not fair evil!
How come you have space to mount your pump internally!?
There's no chance of that happening in my V350 :shakes:.
I wanna see you fit the 1/2 x 3/4 tubing in there!
THEY LIED!!! now the eta is the 13th... :( i was hoping to get them shipped out to day so i could get them on monday :( they better have them by then! :brick:
no way.. i bet theres room, MAKE ROOM! yea its going to be cramped once all the tubing goes in.
thanks for the comment guys
Woohoo that XSPC pump top is sweet looking.
BLUEAQUA to the rescue!
he has agreed to sell me his 2 90s just incase sidewinders shoddy ETAs keep changing
@MomijiTMO: yup  just wait i got something for it to
Hey evil,
your build looks great for such a small case..
may i ask, what PSU are you using?
in your sig, it says the silverstone 750w.
Can i have the model? zeus? DA?
:P, LEDS are a given... no i got something else up my sleeve
Its the Strider ST75F, i also have a DA850 and a DA1200. i really like the strider alot smaller then the DA, zeus are also nice but i dont like the fact that they use smaller fans.

Looking nice m8 :)
But some connections could need some polishing :P naaj just kidding, I like the way how you did the fittings on the 4870's.
The only thing that could be a little bit better is maybe changing the fan at the Radiator next to the CPU. I know that's a very nice fan for some decent airflow through your rad, but maybe only for the pics you should use a fan that's a bit thinner
