I absolutely stand corrected. I got all the cities and names mixed up lol

Nathan's Bacon Cheese Fries. Courtesy of Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York.
Eat that and you wouldn't want to eat regular french fries anymore.
<grabs Keys and heads for the door, just got paid too....................heart attack here I COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm only about 2 hours west of NYC
You get something similar from Outback for £4.95 :D
Stouffer's French Bread Pizza FTW. Best Frozen Pizza Evar. Note that I did qualify that with the word frozen. The best real pizza comes from a little place in Manhattan's upper west side called Coronet. I'll be sure to get a pic next time I go.

Also LOL at you guys comparing your height/weight/waist. Pure Gold!
phelan1777, the review for the steak sandwiches is funny. The meat tastes like leather!!!
lol:Just a few weeks ago we were in Philly for over a week. We stopped in at Pat's. The sandwich was average at best. The steak was chewy and dry, two pieces of cheese do not a philly ...

Pat's and Geno's Are the Worst... - goeagles1975 - Oct 16, 2007
Skip Pat's and Geno's the steak tastes like leather, are small for the price you pay, and are no more than tourist traps. I have never understood why these 2 places are considered ...
Well it does come from a Cow..............so what would you expect
but seriously though, you can go to a different place each day here in Philly, and get a slightly different cheese steak and the meat look and taste a little different, the cut, how long its cooked, how its cooked, seasoning, the piece of beef it comes from, how well its chopped up, how long its been frozen.
there are a million variables.
There was a chain here called Philly Cheez, and they had some great steak sandwiches!!! There is also the cheese steak factory but are not as good.
Yo mama's house silly!
No jk Sacramento. And its no subway! They have wings and steak sandwiches. You can get provolone, american, cheddar, or cheeze wizz!
Yo.. I lived all around that area for the good part of eight years and ate at Coronet often. I wouldn't call it the best?
I'll take Patsy Grimaldi's under the Bklyn Bridge, John's of Bleeker, Lombardi's, Di Fara's, Caserta Vecchia, Sal & Carmine's....
None of the paisan eat at a place like Coronet ! You've got to hang out in Bensonhurst or Bay Ridge and learn your Italian food :)
I need a recipe for those deep dish pizza's you seem to get. Pizza Hut deep pan is about as good as it gets for me....well i get a chicken supreme and add $14 worth of toppings (7)....then nacho's....then cheesy garlic bread....then chicken wings :D
Pizza hut for me usually weighs in at about £25 / $50
Good grief, man.
Pizza Hut is junky and does taste good if you crave greasiness. However, you can do so much better than Pizza Hut, man.
Deep dish isn't even Italian. Its a Chicago concoction. The kings of deep dish in Chicago are Lou Mainati's and Gino's, and then there's Uno's which is now a darn family restauarant with sub-standard food.
True Italian pizza is more like a focaccia. They don't use shredded mozarella but real fresh mozarella. They don't slather tomato sauce or any of the canned sh1t that goes onto a typical pizza these days. They use only sliced fresh vine tomatoes.
There's Sfincione. which Americans refer to as Sicilian pizza, where the toppings are stuffed inside the dough, but again that's not supposed to use mozarella, but pecorino cheese.
The best part about Italian food in New York is that you get to eat in Italian neighborhoods. If the food is crap, the paisan will pay a visit and shut it down the next day. Of course, everyone obeys or else...
I can see where he's coming from. Britain is rife with pizza hut. other chains are non existent. pizza hut is a guilty pleasure for me. once a year and i'm good. and their breadsticks mmmmmmmmmmmmmm....
Okay so where did you go for your masters in food? Should I dare ask what the tuition is like? seriously, I think you have commented on more food here in this thread then I have eaten in my life time. I mean I know you are older then me and have been around a bit, but damn. That is food education abroad. Sign me up!
As for Pizza Hut and I kid you not as I worked there for a while, and made the pies. Especially the "deep" dish, when they oil the pans, they put about 1/4-1/2" of oil in the pan, before the dough. then the dough soaks in the oil about a day or do before its made into a pie.
When I would make breadsticks for me, I would take the dough out, and wipe/pour out the pan, take the dough, place it on a pile of paper towels for about 20 minutes to soak what I could of the oil out, then make them............and you know what, it tasted so much better. My boss thought I was nuts, because I was so "anal" about the dough but seriously, that is one express ride to the ER.
I was rtying to say that eating pre packaged pizza is a joke, not disputting what you said earlier. I mean there is real pizza, then there is the shop pizza (papa johns, Pizza hut, dominos) then there is the pre packed stuff off the store shelf.
Well there are two more pizza chains here - Papa Johns and Domino's, both of which taste like cardboard and artificial cheese. Pizza Hut at least tastes of food, not art and crafts materials that were wrongly filed...
If i can find a recipe for chicago deep dish, i'd be most grateful...
Just a recipe?
These are not from me:

I haven't gotten to Middle Eastern food, or South Asian food, or Scandinavian food... there's lots of ground to cover...
I grew up loving all kinds of food from all cultures. It doesn't take years of experience to figure out what you like. It just takes an open mind. Every kid should read Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss rofl Food was a big thing growing up.
I would bring my brother to KFC (he's 12 years younger) when he was 10 years old, and he would finish a family meal by himself... eight pieces plus two large sides plus three biscuits... plus two large drinks. As for me, when I was ten, I would take a whole de-necked unskinned chicken and cook it the way it is, roast it, and finish it. When I was seven years old, I finished a Big Mac, a Quarter Pounder with Cheese, large fries, a large Chocolate shake, apple pie and hot fudge sundae. That was in Asia. So much for the American junk food fat stereotypes  :ROTF:
Another problem is that I was always a geeky dork growing up. In college, I had my fair share of first dates... lots of them.. but no second dates :ROTF:
When I left college, I had to find a proper strategery of getting hot dates lol Food.... good food... fine food... lots of chix
Best real pizza in the world don't be coming from America!
Some pictures of Italian pizza... not the slathered tomato sauce crap served in America. Eat real pizza and you wouldn't want to eat crap pizza ever again.
I have had some good pizza in geneva, and in paris. Went to london but couldnt find anything but pubs and pizza hut.
*Runs off to find a metriperial conversion chart...*
Yankee - thats cause the good places are all hidden.
Angus steak houses are overpriced and the quality is shockingly bad compared to somewhere like Outback and Old Orleans.
Soho is where the good restaurants are at....Soho Pizzeria on Beak street for italian style (non-commercial) pizza, Wardour Street for every kind of Oriental Food going...
Have you had a Chicken Doner Kebab yet? If not - next time you're in London, get on the Piccadilly Line and get off at Southgate. Right opposite the station theres 'The Charcoal Grill Kebab House'
Go in there and ask for a Chicken Doner with Salad and a side of Homous and ask if you can eat in...
If you can finish everything they bring you, they'll respect you :D
When I was a kid, if I ate more then then 4-5 pieces of KFC, later that night I would seriously regret my consumption of all that greasy chicken.
I had an idea, lol, Iany's Guide to Geeks College Eating on the cheap and winning the hearts of the Co-eds!
It makes sense, Kai. How many mom and pop places have the dough to put a place in pall mall or picadilly?
...and outback...
Gourmet 'Italian' pizza is great. But everything in America, especially pizza in Chicago, is not "crap". Furthermore, living in a large and very diverse city such as I do, I don't have to get on a plane to experience food exactly like the pictures you posted.
I realize you're an experienced "foodie" but give me a break...
Outback over there is apparrently a lot different than over here...dunno why, probably because almost everything thats artificial thats used there, is banned here.
As for KFC - i can beat all of you. I used to get the Mega Bucket - which was 10 pieces of chicken (i'd make sure they were all legs), large popcorn chicken, hot wings and a tub of coleslaw. I could demolish it all in under an hour :D
Actually the best pizza in the United States is this place: http://www.pizzeriabianco.com/
No joke, top rated in the United States and a contender for the world.
[Edit:]I suppose I should quantify my response.
AzCentral
PizzaMarketplace
IanY - look back a few pages for my spiced pork - that ought to get you started :p
We only have KFC.
There are cheap knockoffs though...
Halal Fried Chicken etc...
Ugh, you don't know what you are missing!!!
Kai do you live in Europe or America? You seem to be an expert on american foods... unless theres KFC in Europe, and I wasn't aware of that :O
Yes KFC is around in Europe :)
KFC? Kentucky Fried Chicken right? thats avail here in Oz too! :D
Yep - we get quite a lot of the big chains as you....i even remember a dubious flirtation with nuclear fission reactors....sorry scratch that, been watching too much trek today :D
What i meant to say is i remember a dubious flirtation with the introduction of both Taco Bell and Wendy's...both of which fell flat on their face. In 1991 british society had only just adjusted to McDonalds, and Taco's were a step too far, seeing as we have almost NO experience of what actual mexican food tastes like. Wendy's was the same, they just never had any repeat business. Square burgers? Far too wierd for us.
Wendy's v Wimpy's
I just had McDonald's for lunch today. It was just plain disgusting.
I ate what was supposed to be their premium sandwich.. Angus Third Pound... it was dry and the juicy fat content was missing from the patty.. sounds like someone ran that sucker throughthe microwave ten times. A rubber tire would have been more tender. You could throw it against the wall and it will bounce back and smack you in the ass.
The fries were hot out of the fryer but were bland... vegetable oil... give me the animal lard!! The fries had no taste.
Coke is supposed to be coke all around the world, but my Coke tasted flat and icky... not that I have tasted urine, but that's probably what urine tastes like.
I decided that my ass needed more fat, so I asked for a hot fudge sundae. I had to order in Spanish because the cashier had no idea what hot fudge was. And then I asked for nuts, and she said .. its either fudge or nuts... so I raised Cain and embarrassed the manager.
It was the most pleasant experience indeed!
Gimme the fat and the lard!! When I ask for ice cream, don't give me frozen yogurt!!
Thankfully our fast food outlets haven't sunk low enough so we have to learn another language in order to order the food we want.
Well, there are enough employees that are polish, but i refuse to bow down and speak someone elses language on my home turf. I do what all brits do abroad and SPEAK SLOWER AND LOUDER. If that fails i swear at them and go take my business elsewhere...
And the last time i saw a Wimpy's was in 1988....i had my 6th birthday party in one in West Drayton...i got a cricket bat :D
 :ROTF:
As for Wendy's, the 99c Jr Cheese Burger with bacon (have to ask for it) is a tasty snack, I mean its small, but comes with lettuce, tomato, cheesy, bacon, mayo and I add ketchup. Its 1.06 with tax, so I don't feel guilty for eating it, can get them @ any Wendy's here in the us as far as I know.
I don't know what maccas is.
Yeah, I've also seen KFC/A&W combos, even tacobell/LongJohnSilvers combos in our area, I dont see the reason because you pretty much know already what you want if you go into a restaurant...
Its not that bad, some stuff tastes decent, I dont mind it. But im in california so at least its real mexicans making the food...
Yeah, I live in Nothern California, and the amount of illegals mooching off the country is incredible, most of them cant read or write english and many dont even have jobs, and taxpayers are paying to educate their retarded kids...
omgwtfbbq? No mention of any yet...
I had amazing rack of ribs last night, pork baby back, slow cooked all day over hickory and apple wood. No pics sorry; didn't want to get sauce on my camera ;)
Ugh, McDonald's is an affront to God and humanity. The last time I ate there was probably 4 years ago or more, and the Big Mac, once actually a big sandwich, had been reduced to a small, reheated abomination. Even their quarter pounders with cheese have taken a nosedive, and those are pretty damn hard to screw up.
One of my new fast food finds is this Mexican place called Chipotle. One just opened up a couple miles from me, so I decided to try it. The menu is fairly spartan; you choose 4 crunchy tacos (white corn), 3 soft tacos, a burrito, or a bol (basically a burrito in a bowl, sans tortilla), and you choose your meat (chicken, steak, adobo marinated shredded pork, etc., then choose your salsa, toppings, etc. It's pretty damn good, and kicks Taco Bell squarely in the ass. It's also cheap, but chips are a whole $.75 extra.
Yeah, Chipotle is pretty good. Heh, McDonalds had a majority ownership in them until late 2006.
you know guys everything looks good and making me freakin hungry. but im surprised no ones posted and buffalo chicken wings. now i know that you guys and gals love them, so wheres the love for them, lol. its ok, ill do it in the next post.
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k3...Tenderloin.jpg
That's what I'll be eating in approximately 3 hours!
Machine shed has one of the best tenderloins I've ever had, pair it with a stuffed pork loin and a cinnamon roll and I'm in heaven.
if you are ever in Raliegh, NC. not a bad place to get alittle bit of everything: http://www.buffbrothers.com/
really not a bad place to eat and pretty decent prices. they have a PDF verison of their menu, just check what they got.
and as for the Buffalo Chicken Wings, here you go: http://www.foodbyphone.com/dishphoto...ffalowings.jpg
thats what im talking about, except i get a order of 50 wings, Medium Xtra Crispy. yummy!!!!!. i had a place in Elkhart, IN where i lived called Wings ETC.. and i will say they beat Buffalo Brothers, but Buff Bros. will do till i find a way back to the Frozen Tundra of HELL. :P
I'll have to post my fried lettuce. You basically batter a head of lettuce and then deep fry it. The only way to eat lettuce.
I get fried cheese, fried twinkies, fried oreos, fried corn dogs, fried funnel cakes, fried tacos, fried tenderloins and EVEN the occasional fried coke at least once a year (good ol' state fair).
And I have to say, that's the most disgustingly American thing I've ever heard of.
fried lettuce, are you retarded, you don't fry lettuce, you are suppose to eat it fresh and crisp. thats the proper way to eat lettuce, you don't see rabbits eating that fried do you.
as for fried cheese, OMG, that is like cheesy crack for people, its so good. as for fried twinkies, never had one, but I'm sure its good, just like the non-fried version.
Fried lettuce? Are you quite insane?!
Working requires 'power', food = power...
here's what I ate some seconds ago ( and now that I'm looking at the photo... I'm like...yeah I forgot to add cheese in the second one :D )
homemade cheeseburgers... the classic recipe... however without the pickles ( I hate them! :D )
http://i32.tinypic.com/313hjyf.jpg
Anyone like the junk called PF Chang's ? Seems to do extremely well tho, just like Outback.. medicore food but one hour wait lol
Anybody call that authethic and I've got a red colored bridge to sell you... and some ocean front property in Wyoming.. and a ski resort in Jamaica
I have this special hatred reserved for P.F Chang's. I've been there a couple times and can not for any reason justify how much they charge for crappy food and service. It's overpriced and all the servers are inexperienced and just awful.
Pei Wei on the other hand is enjoyable. The first place I tried edamame.
Overpriced food != High End
That's because a lot of people all know where it is, in that they are common and stand out. Most of the time the best food comes from places that are the hole in the wall restaurants. And for the most part people a simply to lazy to look for those places, or just assume that if that particular restaurant doesn't have 10 other chains then it must not be good.
yea dude, its not a bad place at all, pretty cool atmosphere for a family sports bar, plus, they have Guinness on TAP :toast2: , and also, its right in front of Tiger Direct, which i like the Durham store alot better and has Sam Ash next door as well.
if your ever on this side of durham, have to hit it up for a beer.
http://www.planjam.com/myimgs/azteca.jpg
Best Mexican restaurant ever.
I just don't believe nobody has posted these yet - This is the worlds finest cuisine bar none and if you don't agree ill come over to your house kill you, cook you and eat you with a fine chianti!
Ladies and Gentlemen I give you Indian Food - Chicken Tikka Masala.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ka_Masala.jpeg
or if you like it hot Chicken Phall / Phaal
[URL="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phaal"]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phaal[/URL
Indian Food is the most popular takeaway in britain although i doubt if it bears any real resemblance to the true Indian food.
The tikka masala, like the Korma is a dish invented for western palates...but still, it comes from an Indian takeaway :D
I'm more of a magmaloo man myself ;)
Man... Korma.. Masala... get with the real stuff, man. No western softball non-spicy stuff.
How about some Vindaloo (you guys call it Magmaloo in the UK... ) ?
Sorry I grew up in the part of the world that eats fresh chilly peppers as a condiment.
The second picture is still Chicken Tikka, but at least it uses Jalfrezi sauce (ie, super spicy).
Biryani is pretty good..
OK.. This is not intended to gross anyone out, but this was one of my favourite dishes growing up. And my favourite part was the eyes (and I'm not joking). Its indigenous to the region I grew up.
Nope thats what the laydeez order real men eat phall
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phaal"]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phaal"]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phaal
IanY - Ive heard good things about Thai I must admit though ive only tasted what was referred to as a thai green curry in a Thai place in Edinburgh. Was very nice though.
Since were on the subject anyone know where I can get a truly hot sauce from? Im stuck with habanero from tesco's but need loads to get a good zing going.
Hot sauce you say?
Here you go
He's in Brighton, UK but will ship to most places.
Dragons Blood is supremely fiery.
Put the bog roll in the fridge first ;)
No, vindaloo is still vindaloo, but then you get the Phaal, then the Magmaloo, which has been described as being served with a fire extinguisher and tastes like you just swallowed a marine distress flare.
Speaking of food, I'm going out to Satisfaction (the local pizza place/bar I mentioned earlier). Great pizza, fries, wings, sandwiches, etc. I think they've got about 80 beers on tap.
If you want to beat the Indian MrMagoo or Man igloo or whatever it is called then you should have eaten the yellow chillies we grew at work 3 years ago. Man they were hot. We had not watered them very well so when they came off the plant they were lethal.
The problem with most spicy food is that you can't taste what you have spiced. I'd rather have a coconut mild curry where I can taste whether the meat flew, gave milk or liked to snuffle about in the earth.
Lets face it, hot spices were done in the old day because with the lack of the fridge you had to do it to hide the taste, but nowadays you don't.
It's a waste of a good animal. Mind you, so is the Mcdonalds hamburger.
Regards
Andy
