**Official DFI LanParty UT 790FX-M2R Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**

I don't know what they are doing with the Bios one way or another they are all atrocious with the way they are written and all release whether it be official or Beta they all have issues on some level but I know this much the USB Keyboard issues with this SB600 controller leave allot to be desired and need to be corrected as a top priority or one of them anyway!

I still cant believe these Bios are coming from the same people that have written all of the P35 Bios which were all on the Caliper of the Expert/Venus Bios quality.

Bro Esau, you should be able to run AOD 2.0.9. I had the same issues with Windows freezing up while AOD was initializing using either 2.0.10 or 2.0.14. Reading a random thread here and there on different forums, the later AOD releases seem to be for optimization with Phenom + 790FX.

2.0.9 doesn't recognize my 5000+ as being a Black Edition, and there's also some issue with reading proper core temps:

Looks like 2nd core is roughly 4.3 billion degrees C. :rofl: :ROTF: :rofl:

I'm guessing this is the whole Brisbane temp sensing issue, which you shouldn't have a problem with.

I could even increase the cpu multiplier through AOD, which I thought was a feature strictly for Phenoms only, but this was only stable up to x14.5. Setting the multiplier to 15 caused reboot:

You can of course set the multiplier higher in the BIOS and still get 100% stability at stock voltage.

Anyway though, this indicates to me that compatibility with AOD is a software issue with AMD, not a BIOS issue with DFI.

Has anyone using this board + Phenom tried adjusting voltages or frequencies through AOD?

Hey thanks:) I have used version 2.9 it comes on the DFI Disk and it no likes me I am sure of it:hehe: Actually its a combination of both Bios and Software not interfacing correctly together allot attributed to source code in desperate need of updating on AMD/Awards part.........As for AMD OD....I am scared to use it actually, if it were as stable and mature as Uguru is then I may consider it ,,,but its not!

Now I have warned you gentlemen that the 1/03/2008 Beta Bios is Bugged and it should be avoided.

EDIT: Both 12/21/07 & 1/03/08 Beta Bios have issues with Vdimm table and also Weak/Normal drive section! I have noticed that after 11/22/07 Official there seems to be a running pattern with the Bios in the Vdimm settings once you into the (Red) Section 2.21Vdimm there are issues utilizing vdimm setting Highlighted in (RED)


D.F.I when are you going to dedicate some time and release a worth while Bios that clears up USB issues , PCI-E 2.0 Slight Refresh Issue when opening Bios with New ATI Cards , Voltage regulation , Proper source Code Update in Bios for Phenom and new Architecture and new generation PCI-E 2.0 better support is needed

I was running my PC-6400 EPP Ballistix @ 1066 CL5-5-5-16 (mobo doesn't giving me 15tRAS) settings with 2.0V (real 2.04) w/o problems with that BIOS version for some time. Didn't noticed any problems.

Never the less, DFI should definitely dedicate some time in development of the BIOS for this mobo.

Well like I have said in the past I really don't think the current Phenom offerings from AMD are good for anything but stock set up or maybe max 200 mhz over rated spec 24/7 stable this is going by what I see consistantly from very dedicated people working on Debugging the Phenom issue:up:

yea it was 5-5-5-16... previous to 1/3/08, u could run <15tras below 501mhz... 1/3/08 now forces >16 into the 480s, havent tested the exact number

Check you latency setting by default in that Bios on my Ram it tagged it a 9ns where as prior Bios it was 8ns left at auto. IMO the Ram Bandwidth is clocked down on that Beta and there are NIC issues as well with it!

This Bios situation with this board is becoming beyond a joke anymore! For Christ sakes 12/11/07 is not even a Official its a Beta Bios so that means that my current 11/22/07 is the Last Official release not 12/11/07

AOD/5000+ BE is not problematic on the GBT/MSI boards, so it maybe a board compatibility issue.

Hey, Tye:) Yes unfortunately its D.F.I Bios issues and they need to be addressed like yesterday . Kind of hard for me to really say or compare as I have no Phenom and yes I know you said (5000 BE) but I am also convinced not sure though that AOD revolves around Phenom or is meant to at least:D


D.F.I could we please get another Real Official Release such as the 11/22/07 Bios and not a phony front like the 12/11/07 Beta

something that keeps popping into my mind when i think about overclocking my specific phenom cpu is i was able to use and o/c it on asus m2n-e (AM2) board and, later, this DFI... the m2n-e refused to post at 236 ref and 235 was not 100% stable... i find it more than a coincidence that i cannot get past 234 ref with utter stability on both boards, and believe it's a possibility these first phenoms will not clock higher

the other possibility is the asus and dfi boards are handling the phenom nearly identically, meaning they're using a bios code reference from AMD and bios programmers are still learning how to handle the phenom in their own way

okay I was just installing the new cat 8.1 drivers and mid install my system crashed and wont boot up at all. The system fans will wine up die down and wine up again every once in a while and have gotten into BIOS once in the past hour all my periphreals are unplug and only one 3870 in...any ideas?

alright well I disconnected everything and I'm just going to let it sit for a day and set it up again to see if that will work.

You're supposed to Uninstall the the Catalyst Drivers via the ATI Uninstall utility then reboot into safe mode and use driver cleaner to get all of the registry entries left behind then boot back into windows and Install new Drivers.

If you are using dual core yes 11/22/07 is what you want to use as the others have problems and I have mentioned this like 20 times already in this thread so people would not screw their Boards up because I can just reprogram the Bios chip on the Programmer that I have.


If you have ended up Screwing up you're Bios chip contact me through PM I Program and sell Bios chips!

OK.......What you want to do if you cannot get into Bios is do a minimum system component run!

First Unplug the PSU wait 1/2hr unplug the 24pin power lead and 8pin CPU Power Lead from the Board and take out both sticks of Ram, Remove the Battery and place the Jumper in the Clear Position and let it sit over night!

The Following Day Plug both power leads back into the mobo , Place one stick of Ram in the slot closest to the Cpu , and only one GFX Card , replace the battery and move the cmos Jumper back to normal position, and only connect tthe monitor and a PS/2 Keyboard upon Booting up hold the Insert and Home key down and let it boot and release both keys and it should boot!

Good Luck and please follow those instructions to the Tee if not I will program you a Bios chip if it does not work.

Did you get you're Mobo sorted out?

I got it booted right now...working on rolling back the BIOS

I would make sure that you were stable Mable first and foremost!

P.S......On the First Page of this thread I have Bios Template settings for 3400mhz as well as 3500mhz you should use them as reference for Voltage setting for you're board!

okay well just updated bios and it booted into windows for like 3 mins and then crashed and having the same problem as last night. I think I may just RMA this board.

Listen man ....don't you find it odd that this happened right after you Installed new drivers without uninstalling the old ones first?

Not to be offending in anyway but I have to be honest with you I think that this is a user created situation and has nothing to do with the board! You should not be updating Bios unless the system is stable and has been tested to prove such and more than likely with the way you were spiking that CPU with Vcore no doubt you did not take the time to read the first page where its plain as day to see that you can pretty much get 3500mhz 800HT X10 Multi with stock board voltage. I would be willing to bet that you jacked the voltage up on all settings in Bios instead of first understanding what you had first and foremost!:shakes:

ITS A DRIVER ISSUE!!!! GO INTO SAFE MODE AND UNINSTALL THE CATALYST DRIVERS AND USE DRIVER CLEANER CAB CLEANER THEN USE THE PROGRAM TO GET RID OF ALL ATI RELATED DRIVER REGISTRY ENTRIES!

OR REFORMAT WINDOWS IF NEED BE!


P.S......Out of Curiosity did you do as I recommended 3 posts above last night or was that too much to be bothered with?

I did all that and then went and uninstalled the ATI drivers and used driver cleaner and it still persists. If I wait a couple hours in between boots its fine but then after a simple restart it wont boot at all. It will just show DFI boot screen and then restart again and again. Also when I reset CMOS it will always hang on the raid controller so I have to disable it before hand.

Was it doing that before you updated the Bios? And also just so you know 1/3/08 has a completely different ATI Raid ROM Bios from 11/22/07 so you are not going to get far because you have borked your raid array just read the notes attached to the bios page and it will tell you the same thing!

no, I think its a problem with one of the motherboard components burned out or is failing I'll try and take a youtube video tonight and posting it. Even if I'm having a bios issue I still have the problem of the computer not even turning on and it was doing this before I did the bios update.

RMA time man! Perhaps you may find interest in reading my OC Postings with full Bios Template on the first page before throwing the board to the Electric chair with Voltage next go around:) I find that its best with any board to break into it gradually and take it slow as Instant gratification has never proved worth or merit with anything in my eyes!:clap:

It's just… it has so much small, but nasty quirks… it pissing me of!

I've already wrote, how after switching off in situation when Phenom is slightly OC'ed, I get cold boot!

Then I need to do EZ clr. cmos, and do the settings once again… here comes even bigger anoyence!

If I don’t do it exactly right, I'll get code "75" and will need to do EZ all over again! Namely, when I want to OC CPU, first I need to Disable C'n'Q (also I disable Virtualization), do the "F10" go back in the BIOS, and do the multipliers, and voltages! If I want to do all settings in just one BIOS entering, I'll endUp with code "75".

BTW, I need to setup mem. timings twice! First time doesn't count. 'cos next time when I'm in the BIOS settings are within auto values, so I need to set them up again (of course no "15" for tRAS, 16 is the lowest value)

I'm a character with lots of patience, but this is just getting ridiculous!

Hell I am only on Dual Core and I have tested all of the Bios extensively because I have a Bios Programmer and have flashed /erased/ re-programmed/re-flashed about 20 times now and the Bios Suck....All of them!

I remember when DFI used to be the :banana::banana::banana::banana: when socket 939 was out I guess alot has changed since then.

I really don't know what to say about this , I really just don't! We certainly are not working with NF4 Bios thats for damn sure and whats been released beta or official are Horrid as far as Bios from DFI goes and I believe that my biggest fear with getting this motherboard was going to be that the Bios were going to be AMD release Dependant unfortunately seems to be true. You're wrong here my friend. BIOS is no way AMD dependent, it's just matter of resources one mobo maker is willing to put in it.

You've noticed bunch of LanParty models based on Intels' "series 3" chipset form DFI. And we all know that DFI isn't really big company. So they've focused all of their efforts towards Intel's product line, and that's way their first AM2+ offering suffers this much.

I do believe that things will get better in a matter of weeks (after all couple weeks after this UT mobo, they've announced DK part of this LanParty series…)

Only question is how much are customers like our self are prepared to wait?

Regarding the AMD, they're putting all of their effort behind Phenom. And Phenom is by no means failure. Who ever played with this processor more than short period of time that reviewers on the web do, will tell you how positive experience in terms of delivered performances. Inevitable part of that is the feeling that CPU really needs just something little more to unleash its full potential. IMHO that little more is MHz's.

Regardless of the feeling, fact remain that we've witnessed hard birth of the new architecture. But if you put aside TLB fiasco, delivery of K8 haven't been much different… it's just that competition at that time was much inferior, and AMD didn't had this burden of FUD stories around it's neck!

Oskar and crew are in control of Bios programming that I know as fact but also too the source code is obviously lacking which has even been stated by Tony and unfortunately source code will be AMD /Award Dependant not DFI as they can only work with what they have such as reference design on mobo thats also not DFI, Gigabyte, Asus choice either and they must work within those constraints as well.

As for DFI spending more focus on Intel Bios programming over current not so popular AMD I agree whole heartedly on that but the fact still remains the same these Bios are shameful releases by DFI's part:yepp:

I'm still watching this thread. Currently just playing with my 6400+BE campbell. I want to do a mobo upgrade as it will stabilize my Vcore on the cpu a LOT...cuz this one fiddles around too much. Only thing is with the bills i got right now it ain't happenin' anytime soon. I also like finding out all this stuff ;) knowledge is power.

Don't have my Phenom BE rig totally up and running yet (waiting on a new hard drive from newegg to install windows on) but I do have it running up to bios. What setting exactly did you want me to check out in the bios. The m/b is still running 11/22/07 bios, btw due to inability to flash it as yet. And based on experience here as yet, I just may wait to flash it until something more stable comes.

Also, for the transpiper unit, where is the best place to put thermal paste? On the pipe itself or on the hold down plate or somewhere else? Reason why I ask is after like an hour of idling in bios my mosfet temps are 68c and my n/b is sitting at 62c while my cpu is at 24c. I have a 70mm fan I'm going to hook up to it on the way, but this is something I could try out while I'm waiting to see if it'll help any.

The Bios stay put on 11/22/07 and the transpiper deal just use this link and do as they illustrate and use ASC thatss what I use / Also those temps are really hot on PWM and NB I would recommend taking of the heatpipe assembly carefully and inspecting whats going on with the TIM application and re-apply the shinetsu that comes with it if need be and make sure when you re-install it to uniformly tighten the machine screwsbut don't crank it down excessively as you don't want to crush the PWM, SB , NB:yepp:

I was afraid you were going to say something like that.....I think it would be pretty much an all day event for met to try and re-apply TIM to the heatsinks now. *sigh* I guess I'll work on that sometime this weekend. I use MX2 for paste. It seems to work pretty good overall.

Negative! You need a thicker bodied paste for Transpiper , and also Digital PWM ,

Well, I have AS5 as you suggested and also some Thermalright. Never used the latter of those two, so I guess I'll probably stick with the as5 for this mess.

Artic Silver Ceramique is what I suggest for the Transpiper and just use the ShinEtsu thermal Paste that came with the Motherboard for the PWM , NB, SB:)

Oh yeah, in that Transpiper setup link I realize that the copper piece might be optional, but where to get a piece of copper like that? Don't suppose they sell those possibly pre-cut online somewhere do they that you know of? I would just buy some stock and do it myself, but no machinery to do it with.

few things here... first, code 75 is the step the board is detecting ur harddrives

second, has anyone been able to find "F2-8500PHU2-2GBHZ" g.skill mem kit??? ... i want these real bad to replace my ballistix that died but i cant find it anywhere... if i do find them im afraid of the price they'll be

and finally, as of the 1/3/08 bios, this board is friendly overclocking with a phenom only when these conditions are met:
#1, nb/ht/pcie voltages are kept at STOCK... this board is PRIME95 stable 8+ hours at 8x247 (nb hex 04, ht "1.6ghz") without touching these voltages anyway
#2, 8x or 7x multi are the only 2 multipliers that seem to work currently for nb+ht when using 201+ ref, and really 3x has no purpose yet as 250+ ref is only good for a minute of benches anyway
#3, ~240 reference requires 3-4 in "reference clock adjust gap", ~245 requires 2 adjust gap, ~247+ is difficult to post if adjust gap is not at 1... i dont know why or what that setting is, that's just what i've discovered... if anyone has info on this one, plz share
#4, this one im not 100% sure about, but ddr2-800 setting is the only one that's really functioning, ddr2-667 posts once every 20 resets and is not stable ... this might be due to trfc timings but i havent had time to dive into it yet... my board does it with my current g.skill and ballistix that died

please look at my signature for my o/c setup... it is 100% stable without ANY "quirks" using 1/3/08 bios... i am noticing the latency problem playing online games however, and will try reverting back to an older bios if another beta isnt released soon

Just like I said though originally the NIC Bandwidth and Ram latency was a complete bust on that 1/3/2008 Beta and there are still values wrong with Ram Table also and weak/Normal drive Function does not work properly since after 11/22/07 Official and still slight annoyances with USB issues as well and also Randon C1 Error, and when loading optimized defaults in Bios with Overclock in place to start a new and then immediately reconfiguring Overclock settings / save/exit you get lock up or garbled screen at boot! Also Ram Voltage Table when working in (Red Area) 2.21vdimm it does not like that at all and has been a problematic feature since it was incorporated in early 12/06/07 Alpha up to current 1/03/2008 Beta.

okay well gave my computer a break had a 24 hour CQ duty I had to pull and system booted fine installed cat 8.1's and right now running prime to test stability. I have been pushing my setup extremely hard the past couple days maybe it just needed a break. I think I might buy a LE-1620 to mess around with.

Brother Esau, what are tha main problems with the 11-22-'07 BIOS apart from what you posted for now? Anything else or is it pretty stable from there?

Well it happened! I've pull out this mobo from the case :(

In place of here I've put ASUS M3A32-MVP! It's faster mobo, but it's giving me headache with unganged mode (independent 64bit bus) It simply doesn't work with DDR2-1066 :(

Hopefully it'll not let me down in overclocking…

I think right now you are going to find that all of the makers with the spider platform board are going to give you a headache! There is just not any Bios support there for Phenom from any brand from what I see ATM:(

To anybody who owns the board, do you think the stock backplate is sturdy enough for a waterblock hard mount?

So, I have this waterblock installed on this board and I didn't use a backplate. According to the instructions, you don't need one for it. I attached a picture I took of them for reference.

As you can see, doesn't mention a backplate here. Further down the this same installation page it says to install this block on socket am2 boards by the 4-holes through the board method (which is the one shown in the picture). So, actually you need to take off the backplate that comes with the board and slap this one on there in the screw holes that were being taken up by that.

I would personally use a backplate guys as that equals less flexing of the board which = Better for the Board:)

My old nF4 Ultra-D didnt have a back plate (or did it:confused: ). Anyway, I had the Coolermaster Hyper6 on it and you can see a clear little bend on it lol. My current board has the back plate and it makes a difference. But well, if the little bend would kill something? I wouldnt be too worried after all tbh. I mean, big GPU's bend a little under the heatsink's weight as well after all.

So how is the new BIOS working out? Better RAM OC's, any fixes apart from that?

Yes, but that can bow the board after a while.

So, I'm just looking at the backplate that was on the board....could you just use the one that was on it, or do you have to buy another one? I know they do sell backplates you can use for this application, but was just curious.

my rig has been fine using my NON existent backplate for 2yrs+ so far. its up to ya

many improvements in this official 1/3/08... my new ram should arrive tomorrow so im not busting my butt on my current ram just to start over again... ill post my results then

I have also experienced hard Game lock ups with the Bios in addition to a few C1 Errors and the ever present NIC Latency thing that was present in the Beta release >>>>>>>(sigh) gone back to 11/22/07 as I see nothing but problems present on my end with dual core and my set up!

Perhaps there is Merit and Worth for Phenom users but for dual core my opinion is the same 11/22/07 is the best to date!

I'll give the offical 1/3/08 a try later today or early tomorrow, but as long as it adds better ram timings (can I have my 1t Command Rates now please?) and some stability, so I can keep my newfound better NB, and HHT clocks, and not the other nasties in the beta BIOS, then all the better this BIOS would be than the 1/3/08 beta.

I try a lot of setting and voltage for 390-400*8 , it was always a freeze during boot.

Nice:clap: Yes to bad DFI cannot write another Bios to date equivalent to the 11/22/07 Official with Added Phenom support and the USB Issues cleared up and other small little annoyances because they have the Right Mix working with the 11/22/07 and the rest suck!

What sort of 'drawback' was there again from running x.5 multipliers? At least there was a drawback back in the 939 days.

I know on my board using a 13 multiplier the memory doesn't run at 800 like it suppose to.

Quick question... should cpu-nb voltage scale with cpu volts?? ive been leaving it at "auto" and im stable 30 mins prime BLEND at 242 ref but prime in-place fails 4-5 mins and i've increased cpu volts beyond what it needed weeks ago with earlier bioses EDIT: never mind, 1.363 bios 1.360 load fixed it

dram 2.03v 4-4-4-12-16t 484mhz
nb & ht 1.93ghz 1.25v
pcie 100mhz 1.12v

im absolutely loving this bios... x7 multi for NB is working with ddr-667 setting... cpu reference adjust gap boots at default (5) at any reference now... i have a lot more testing still to do

i think athlons might be stuck with the original bios, all subsequent bioses are improving on phenom... in the asus m3a thread, they're stating what a fine line it is to improve the bios for phenom without messing with athlon... i think this is definitely the case here

the NIC latency issue i had was because F@H was running in background while i gamed online... even if u dont have the client running, "smpd" is loaded in windows task manager every time u boot, 4 instances of it if ur running quad

i've now quit f@h until they get a real client and am using WCG instead, which folds proteins also, and i dont have latency issues

I dont get this anymore.... what is the problem with ur o/c settings when u can run prime stable 8 hours but 5-15 mins after u stop the test, it locks up... WHYYYY????? i give up

When does it lock up? If you stopped priming and start playing a game? Just idle, some sort of program?

If it's a game or something it might be your GPU.

my new problem is the SB is running at 1.1v instead of 1.2v... did i kill something on my board? i have to run 1.4v bios to get 1.28v in windows or im unstable... this started yesterday playing with overclocks on new bios

also is there a vdroop option for this board? cpu @ 1.3v bios gives 1.296 windows at load....

i can run prime95 @ 250ref all day and be fine surfing web.... anytime the system is idle at desktop or im just surfing web with no load, it locks up

Is SB PLL reading 1.1v in Bios or smart guardian? For me Bios is at 1.2v sb pll but SG reads 1.1v

Guys, I had the Shutdown at 60C in BIOS but I think the board mixes this up with NB temps? As now and then my PC completely shuts down with any form of error/BSOD:shrug:. I simply disabled the option now and it's already running for a while now, longer than it used to be.

Also, the Transpiper... I didnt install it but Ive no clue whether it's actually part of the standard cooling or if it's an additional option to get better cooling? I wasnt planning on putting 10MV on the NB and running it at 80Ghz however if the Transpiper is actually supposed to be a part of the standard cooling I should install it quite soon I guess.

PS Man, installed the board and all those friggin options in the BIOS. Made me dr00l and happy again:D. Now Ill Prime at stock settings to check if there isnt anything broken due to the shutdown issue I said above or it was just a stupid BIOS setting.

Disable Temperature Shutdown in bios under pc health and instal the transpiper it works like this ........Transpiper Install Instructions use ASC as its thick and yields great results!:welcome:

Also use the 11/22/07 Bios for you're dual core and I have provided 8-13hr Prime95 runs with full Bios template settings for 3400mhz and 3500mhz on the First Page so you can use and to show everyone that you do not need high board voltage to overclock the 6400+ well.

bios options didnt change, they are still 1.2v 1.4v 1.3v 1.5v (in that order)... prior to 2 days ago, smart guardian always read 1.2v in windows if bios was 1.2v, 1.29v for 1.3v in bios, and 1.38v for 1.4v bios

now it's 1.1v for 1.2v bios (unstable), 1.19v for 1.3v bios (unstable), 1.28v for 1.4v bios (stable again)

could u imagine my frustration when my original 2.57ghz STABLE overclock suddenly stopped working after 4 weeks???? i almost threw the board into the street

that's very interesting ur board shows 1.1v too.... can we get more reports on people's smart guardian SB voltage reading?

Hey, Iketh:) You are running a Pnenom and thats a whole different kettle of fish compared to what I have you also have allot of options that appear in Bios that I do not have because of Dual core so I think perhaps I am the wrong ma for council on this as you're settings that are available may play a direct role in what you see that I do not!

Thx for the installation link, better than the manual IMO (manual doesnt say anything about Thermal Compound...).

I know about the BIOS but this board got shipped with 11/22 BIOS so that's fine. I already printed your template but having a few issues here to actually get my RAM to run:mad:. As soon as I load 12x267 my HDD corrupts *sigh*. Changed tRFC to 127.5ns now and a few subtimings which looked quite low a little higher. Rest at auto. Didnt test that yet as Im going to run CPU at 3520Mhz and prime it and RAM lower. Just to check if at least that is still stable.

Then Ill get back at the RAM, but I know for sure 4x1GB isnt really liked by the memory controller or mobo...

Anyone else seen this? These guys are getting 10x269 with a Phenom 9600 BE on their DFI 790FX board and seem to have some pretty good insight as to how to make overclocks with Phenom processors a bit more stable.

things are pissing me off. AFAIK my RAM is all good. As soon as I select 5-5-5-15 settings, 8ns and 2T 2.2Vdimm (they require 2.1Vdimm) at 267Mhz my HDD corrupts... wtf.

So that's a no go already. Not that I care because 267Mhz is a no go anyway, It's either 293Mhz or 251Mhz.

Anyway, 4-4-4-12 ~4ns (maybe 5ns) @ 251Mhz is doable on the sticks, I know that. But the fun thing is, I run Orthos, CPU-Z and CoreTemp and the thing simply freezes randomly, sometimes after almost 4 hours, sometimes after about 1.5 hours. I read it could be Voltage problems so I added all sorts of V's but no go.

Now I read to deselect Orthos' MBM option, but that didnt fix it either. As I know my temps for the CPU by now Ill just not run CoreTemp anymore with it as well as CPU-Z. Installed Smart Guardian as hopefull replacement for CoreTemp but it's crap... I hope then. It showed my CPU jumping from 55-53-57-60-53... Then I quit it as I simply cant believe that. CoreTemp at least stayed very stable around/below 50C.

Also I read Orthos can be buggy and makes the system freeze, so Im going to run Prime95 again. But system freezing without any difference from adding Vcore/Vdimm etc makes no sense. It doesnt error nor does it BSOD.

Also I'd like DFI makes a BIOS with some better RAM compatibility as my sticks dont run nice on high HTT's at all.

Anyone maybe knows what could cause system freezes? Did the Orthos/CPU-Z/CoreTemp sounds possible or is there really something messed up in my system then?

Why don't you just use one of my examples on the front page? Adjust Ram stuff for you're sticks accordingly!
Why such low HT?

The SB600 HDD controller on this board is Pure Sh@t in every sense of the word! I am sorry I really like this board but its completely unusable without a Dedicated Hardware Raid Controller Card.

From my understanding from other owners of other boards IDE Drives just do better than the Sata drives in this Board and from my brief several go around with the SB600 controller I would be inclined to believe that would be correct considering the readings HDTACH gives for 2 Raptors in Raid 0 ,,,,,,,,LOL....its a complete and utter joke!

Yeah, I tried all your RAM settings, enabled 2T command, and a few clocks were auto shown as 0 or 1 which I thought might be quite low and increased them to 2.

Added a little bit more Volt as stock wasnt enough (which is understandable with 4 DIMMs). Disabled the lower two settings which looks like EPP things. Im Priming now and hope it doesnt freeze so I can go up from there.

Ive no clue what the freezes were caused by but after I read Orthos has the possibility to freeze sometimes I was like 'z0mfg!'. So using Prime again. Do you have any clue what other things might cause a freeze? AFAIK it can also be too low Vcore but Im very sure that's allright.

Do you think the SB600 could be causing my HDD to corrupt by high HTT speeds? If that's true Im pretty much f*cked then as Ive no RAID controller. WOuld using the Marvell controller be a better idea?

The SB600 is useless and the later bios change the Option Rom for SB600 but I only tried it in ALPHA stage prior 12/11/07 But that was crap as well:rolleyes:
Use a IDE drive and see if thats the issue. The Ram I have no experience overclocking 4 sticks but if I remember correctly you must enable the Memory Hole option for 4 sticks of Ram on the NF4 DFI Boards see if that works.

At first leave all but Primary Timings on AUTO please!

It's called instability. Load-Idle-Load fluctuation is one test of stability. You want me to tell you why it does that though? Your NB is unstable, either add volts or drop it down through multiplier usage. ;)

That's just excellent vdrop/vdroop. Don't even try wanting more, that is tight enough and can be causing your idle-load-idle instability problems, i.e. VCore offshoot out of stability parameters. o.0 Posting this while the PC is priming for 4 hours straight without freezes and tighter timings via Memset than I did with Orthos before... Though I dont have CPU-Z and CoreTemp running either but looks like the issue was around there then.

Im using Custom with 3800MB to be used and 8K to 4096K FFT's. Though Im running every test 10 minutes instead of 15 but well, did that with Orthos too.

And also a question regarding PCI/PCI-e settings, anything to be changed there are could I leave it all at auto too? I set PCI-e 1 and PCI-e 3 (the two upper PCI-e 16x slots) to 16 manually just in case, but I guess that's allright then.

I just read a little about the Remapping. Dont know what the BIOS setting is however my PC sees all 4GB's though. Im using XP-64. Will try it anyway, maybe it does help the OC after all.
