Phewwwwwwwwww ... look like my training with wifey paid off .. lolz ... very nice crunching Bob. I dont think I'll be able to keep up with Bob when he fills up his rack. If my breaker can hold up (or if I move) then I'll be able to match him .. but for now .. the max I can add is another quad.
Just talked to the builder a couple days ago. Try to build a custom room (extra room) for all my rig in my new house... will have more details later next weekend .. hope it'll work out.
While you're waiting to move into your new house, just get a portable generator. Your wife may not like the sound it makes.:D
I dont think my wife will mind the noises ... note that I use AIR coolers on all my rigs in the ~900 square feet apartment .. + another portable AC running 24/7 ... so noises doesnt really bother my family .. but it will bother my neighbors if I put that thing outside my apt ... lolz
If you're really running a generator, you need to keep it well away from your house. I don't remember what a safe distance is but I think it's a lot more than 100 feet. I know that sounds odd, but there have been a lot of cases of carbon monoxide poisonings from portable generators - even those used only outdoors. If you think about it though it does make sense. They're most often used in the summer because of power outages which means the windows and doors are probably open. In which case, all it takes it a steady breeze that puts you down wind.
If you really need to run a generator, then you're better off with the residential kind that have their own housing and run on natural gas or propane.
Oh, that was just a joke.:)
We've had a problem in our area with marijuana growers who rent or buy homes. They gut the interior and turn the entire house into an indoor pot-growing operation. They usually alter the electrical box so the power company does not know how much juice they're using to power their grow lamps. Police usually discover these marijuana operations after the electrical box catches fire.
Whewww - glad to hear it. Your boinc farm needs you - not to mention the team.
But speaking of real farms, you'd think the pot growers would get on the solar band wagon. They could spend 100k on solar panels, get CA to pay for most of it and go completely off the grid. Gives a new meaning to "farm subsidies". They'd probably even win a award for being environmentally friendly. Wouldn't that be awkward?
To be completely undetectable, all they'd have to do is put in a couple a/c's to lower the thermal signature.
I spend way too much time thinking about cr@p like this.
It was a good crunching day for you too Viet.
On the extra room, I'd have the contractor run at least 4 dedicated 20 amp circuits. It's a lot cheaper to do it now than later, if the house is a new build. Network cabling might not be a bad idea either. They might let you do it if you catch the house before they sheetrock it. Why at least four circuits? Three for crunchers and the fourth for utility operation, such as an additional room air conditioner. That was my thinking when I ran 4 circuits to the hamster barn....(the garage...:) ).
No worries on keeping up. I'm pausing right now to clean up a few things, like my clocks, the rack configuration, and my credit card.....  :ROTF:
Bob
Hey, I'm usually so far from any pie that I totally forgot about it..
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Huey: Bob is 100% right..Wire the walls while they are open..
It is just so much cheaper and easier..
A 3/8" wood boring bit and a helper and you can rough out a house in a day.
Even if you don't put in the finished plates..
Do your cat5e to every room in the house as you will need and want it in the years to come.
Pink pie for Bob :D he must have taken Eric's piece

Excellent, it gone done today.
Had to been because of my new quad. 17K during its first full day of service.:D
Would have probably had more if I had used a x64 OS. I'll do that in about a week. Want to run XP 32-bit for a week, then switch and compare. Also, I think I can bump up the speed on the quad a little.
When Victor's new quads get up to full speed, that should help us some more.:)
Yes, that is the most by the team except for Dave's day.:)
Victor did 722,422 today.
Actually, yes.

Edit:
Bah, Sierra beat me to it.
That's funny..Dave's day..That was OUR day and that's why I did a little hustling..
You want to blame anyone, Blame Victor..His post on starting October off in style is what got me thinking on that and I got lucky..
Got some Grade A first class help with some nice machinery..
I just wanted to see us do 5 million that day. That'a all that mattered to me..
It was XS day..
Here's some milestones for you:
First day to:
1 million:09/29/2006 1:151:09:27:49 1,004,123
2 million:04/30/2007 2:345:12:21:53 2,108,246
3 million:08/08/2007 4:235:03:24:41 3,808,876
4 million:09/24/2007 4:238:11:34:25 4,106,232
5 million:10/01/2007 5:205:18:43:16 5,066,182
6 million:xx/xx/2007..Lets set that as a goal to hit before 2007 ends!
Well then stop talking and start building!:D
We need about 115 more quad-cores. We should start a new program - Adopt a Quad. Kind of like the adopt-a-highway program.
Team 2ch just broke one billion points. That should be our next goal, hitting a billion.
when ? :DQuote:
6 million:xx/xx/2007..Lets set that as a goal to hit before 2007 ends!
115 quads at 15K a day= 1,725,000 with our 4.3 mil=6 million
115 times $750.00 a system= $86,250.00
Ok, thats doable..
I'll do one and shut down sammy..That leaves 114..
Now who do we get to host the machines when I get the parts for those systems?:D
Anytime before 12 midnite on December 31,2007..
Got the boards coming for two quads, just ordered.

I'm curious about that Abit. What did the do to make it so friggin' cheap? Guess I'll find out.
Got two coolers in today from Petra's.
I'm expecting a Q6600 from Brother Esau .
Than i'll build another cruncher. Just need a new motherboard , Harddisk and PSU.
Birthday soon... Should have money for a quad then (Q9450 probably, or Xeon counterpart). If I have money earlier I'll get myself an X3220.
wayhee team great effort
another quad to be added to the grid soon @4.4

Damm, they must have heard something ..:D .. Shintai's train ?
I'll be installing XP x64 on a machine this weekend. Hopefully that will help a little. Will also try Server 2008 on another cruncher.
all my crunching is down for at least a week as we are moving and have to setup new net connection @ new place but that is on the back burner in relation to everything else so my production will be nil for a little while.
Sorry guys.
Server 2008 beta up and running.:)
Nice day

DDTUNG today:

Guess when I got that email and I started back up I picked the right Team thats for sure. The dedication here is something everyone can be proud of..simply amazing :)
4.44 mil is amazing! Seems we always do well on the weekend.
Yowza!
Good day, team. Pretty sure that is our all-time high. DDT did say that'd he'd have a large dump, so some of that may be carryover from what "should" have been on yesterday's output.
Still, we'll probably continue to get stonger. DDT is adding rigs yet. As well as others.
I know I got a x3210 G0 delivered here today. If I get some energy I'll get it built tonight. Plus my strongest rig has been displaced by the rig I built Thursday night ( the new rig is running at the same speed! :) ).
I need to find places to plug these damn things in.
mm i got some lime pie on the 2nd page :)
Nice one, Wes!
I clicked on the column for "today", at Free-DC, in order to re-order it. Jeez, there is some solid output, going a long way down.
Friggin' people are crunching their butts off! w00t!
I know the feeling. Ahh, should be used to that by now.
I've been getting chips from ClubIT. Pretty good site.
I got one of those SLACU (G0) x3210 from them in today. Think I'm gonna get off my butt and build it tonight. I worked OT today and it wore me out, but spent 2.5 hours on the couch afterwards and feeling better now.
Side-by-side comparison of XS and Easynews. Notice we beat them today with more than two thousand fewer results returned.
Nice comparison Sierra.
WE have the machinery we just need a little more to be getting them every day.
Today was ruled by that dump by Victor..Over 917,000 points..
I slept through the update and when I checked my machines had maybe 35 WU that didn't go before the end of day.
This Q6600 is doing nicely. 17K today and 15.5 the day before.
My Clovertown rig did over 29K today.:) I finished updating a couple of crunchers. One now has Server 2008 and another has XP x64. Not sure if Server 2008 will make any difference. But I wanted to try it.:D
two of my rigs are really acting up, my e6600 is getting like 5500 per day at 3.6, and the athlon x2 has been getting a bunch of those really long WUs. Thanks full I will be no longer be quadless in the next few weeks.
That's because a good chunk of Easynews members, maybe even the majority, use the UD agent which we all know awards less points, especially with newer machines. Now that the UD agent is being phased out we'll have our work cut out for us to stay ahead as everyone slowly switches over to BOINC.
Yes, I know. Even though Easynews has over two billion WCG points, we are way ahead of them in BOINC.
The other thing to note though is that we are producing more points now with fewer results than a month ago.
Also, WCG may suffer drop-outs once BOINC becomes the only available client. Some people don't want to run at 100% load because of the heat factor and power consumption. And even though BOINC can be adjusted to run at less than 100%, some may be turned off by other aspects like the validation process. With UD, you are credited right away once the work unit is returned.
When the 20 new dual Nehalem systems I ordered get delivered we'll be all set..:p:
Only 20?
I'm wondering how Nehalem will be priced. It's almost a given that the dual-socket boards will be expensive. Plus, Nehalem will require DDR3 which is also expensive, at least right now despite the worldwide DRAM glut.
production / credit wise the Nehalem won't be the cheapest system , that's for sure.
But , I want one anyway
Another nice day, especially for a Sunday. Way to go, team.
4,346,738
Damnit, they still got us though.
The important thing is improving our daily average. We were at 4-4.1 million for a little while. Now we've done 4.3-4.4 million the past couple of days. The reality is that Easynews still leads us by over a billion points overall. As long as there is weekly improvement on our part, I can't really complain. I think we are starting to reap the benefits of people upgrading and switching to x64.
patient is virtue
Yes, patience is a virtue.:)
My favorite saying comes from Latin:
Audentes fortuna iuvat
"Fortune favors the bold"
With the number of members that we have compared to them we kick their arse everyday.
This is one hell of a team.
Come Jan 08 I will have 2 Quad penryn rigs goin up, adding to the 3 quads im runnin now  Should help a little bit
Also keep in mind a lot of people get money for Christmas and gift cards, maybe even Newegg gift cards.;)
Ah. I've been thinking maybe Intel is lying, just so they get maximum mileage from Yorkfield's highest level parts, and then just before Christmas announce all the Wolfdale and Yorkfield units are coming out in time to be under a tree. Didn't think of gift cards though.
I think Intel feels there's no need to rush out all of the Yorkfield chips now. I don't think they view Barcelona/Phenom as a huge threat.
Product sales are also driven by the trade shows. The main Yorkfield launch will occur right during the time of the Consumer Electronics Show which gets a lot of media coverage.
Contrary to public opinion, I will be accepting Newegg gift cards...
But you're already a preferred customer there. Didn't you say no payments for 30 years or something like that?:D
Hey, we can dream can't we? Besides, it doesn't hurt to ask. I can accept a polite no..It's when they fall down laughing that it bothers me!
And since we know how hard you work and at a place that could lose them they can be sent to me for safekeeping!:wasntme:
LOL thats a hOOt!
-SS
Damn, 15 pages. I have only 7. lol. Would probably have had more. But I always try to order out-of-state. Every time I buy something from Newegg I get hit with almost 8% California sales tax.
Holy crap man, and I thought mine was getting ridiculous, but 15pages?
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...sMinionX/2.jpg
Between the egg,ZZF, NCIX, Sidewinder,PCuniverse and a host of other companies I have gone through at least 20k in a year on computer crap, and other various electronics. I would hate to know what you total with 15 pages of egg stuff
I've actually slowed down some with the 'Egg. Been getting some CPU's from ClubIT. Coolers from Petra's, TankGuys and SVC. MWave gets some $$. Directron. Compuplus. Provantage. Atacom.
Seems like when I upgrade the farm it is a bit more than upgrading a rig or two... ;)
Directron , provantage - no taxes :)
No taxes at any of 'em here in Las Vegas. :)
I've been lusting for a widescreen LCD monitor. Was looking at Provantage's site today. They have some awesome prices on their monitors. Was very surprised. I'm looking for a 22' or 24". I keep waiting, but I keep wanting. Part of it is in not knowing what not to buy. So many specs. So many choices. Everytime I think ok, "I'm gonna get one" I put it off.
Ive slowed down alot with them actually, feel like I should be giving my money to the little guys. And actually I very well might buy all my CPU's from Tankguys after the excellent transaction and results I got with my G0 from them.
I do alot of business with Gary at Sidewinder for all my coolers/TIM/various cables and supplies, as well as some fans. Lots of other smaller guys I feel better about giving my money too, like to see small business thrive instead of large corporations taking over everything, even if it is a little more expensive.
EDIT: I cant remember if I get any taxes on imported items from other states to NY.... I dont recall there being any, then again I dont pay that much attention, If I had to guess for a million, id say no there isnt any being incurred :)
No sales tax, no state income tax.
There is a 8% meals tax.
The only taxes here at all are personal property tax on your home and car.
Tax on a $320K house are app $4400.00 a year(varies by town or city) and on a $27K car are $225.00 the first year and by year 3 are down to $100.00
Thats it, nothing else, nada..
