nice to see u too.. hehehe only reading and.. see you here so i post.. my post still little heheheh... keep up the good work bro

I also have E2160 L2 revision, but rather average one. For everyday use i have 3.0GHz, vcore set in BIOS at 1,41V (about 1,37V real) and everything is stable. Here is my score in 32m:http://hwbot.org/signature.img?iid=40913&thumb=false
Vcore 1,51V (real 1,47V). It's on EVGA 650i Ultra T1 with the latest BIOS. Everything on box cooler with additional airflow.
This is mine
AIR Cooler.
1.6 v
http://www.ibrar.co.uk/super%20pi/3825%203%20copy.jpg
mines up to 2.8 with 1.272 volts. Whats a safe limit for volts for this CPU? I have the Thermaltake Big Typhoon on it.
Ok,
I am running the 2160 at 3Ghz using a Gigabyte P35DS3R. So far no problems and I am pretty happy considering I haven't had time to really push it. The only problem i am running into is the CPU-ID is showing it at 333fsb with a 6 multi even though I have it set at 9x in the bios. I used the software that came with it to confirm the 3ghz setting and I did a video conversion before and after the OCing and got a 63% increase in conversion time, so I am pretty sure the 3Ghz setting is correct. Any thoughts on the CPU-ID information? I will post some screenshots tomorrow to show you what I mean. Anyway, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Utnorris
Nevermind, but I swear it was showing odd numbers. :D

you probably have C1E and EIST enabled in bios so it causes your cpu to downclock itself when its idling/doing nothing.
i have my 2140 @ 2.66ghz right now had to bump vcore up a notch due to vdroop so its really running at default volts now, 1.325v. i know she has more to go but for now i'm happy with it. i'll try 400*8 tomorrow for 3.2ghz.
Yeah that was it. Things that make you go "Dee, D, Dee!"
Thanks,

Q720A109
SLA3J Malay
2140 @ 3.0 orthos stable
not great but it's the best I can do with this tunq @ 1.575v
this is a system for a friend I o/ced for him.
I'm proud of this one not so much the o/c but the cost/performance of this rig is amazing!
SHIMMEL'S BUDGET O/C GAMING RIG:
retail e2140 @3.0 $74.99
p5b dlx wifi $109.99
Team Xtreem 2GB **D9 (2 x 1GB) $75.00
sapphire x1950xt 256mb $165.00
WD5000AAKS 500gb HDD $99.00
corsair vx450w $69.00
tuniq tower $44.99
CM Elite RC-330-KKR1 case $49.00
----------------------------------------------
Total cost: $686.97
so which should I get, E2140 or E2160? TIA
I have the E2140 and its really nice. With my board, the min memory divider is 1:1 so I'm now having issues with 400+ since my memory isn't capable of doing much more then that. think the 2160 would leave a little more headroom.
Ouch HUGE voltage there!
In my girlfriend's rig I've got the following:
Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 - SLA3J - L711A691 - Pack date: 07/20/2007
E2140 -- L2 rvision
VID 1.3250V
Tjunction 100C
Set 1.3750V in BIOS (Gigabyte P35-DS3R F5), loading at 1.312V according to Speedfan.
375 x 8 = 3000 MHz
The P5K-VM I had it in previously was holding it back to 8x266 max stable :|
The stock cooler isn't that bad. Once I get my rig together, I'll be overclocking an E2140 with my Infinity. I'll tell you guys how it goes...
Code: BX80557E2140SLA93 (revision M0, instead of L2)
Batch: Q712A647
Pack date: 07/17/07
Which one is better...L2 or M0 ?
M0 is newer--SLA93 is used to identify the M0 revision, over L2. M0 is the Allendale equivalent of Conroe/Kentsfield G0.
so M0 is better overclocking than L2, am I right here?
I've not tested it yet, but I'd assume so.
hello guys. iam new here :) and also don't know much about oc :D
I have an e2180 SLA8Y M0, max oc is 10x266 1,312V and 8x340(2720) 1,312v.occt temp max 37 cel. C1E and EIST disabled, vcore = auto, Vdroop applied.
when i try to set the vcore manual higher than 1.3125, it won't boot
Is this an cpu limit? or mobo? or something else?
would it help to try out the bsel mod?
cheers.
sry for my poor english ^^
I have an M0 E2140 and it has an FSB wall at 385Mhz.
Anyone tried de-lidding an M0 yet? Perhaps they soldered these ones...? :P
fsbwall @ 458 i think, gonna try modifying my vapochill and might get some more out of it :)
here is mine .. bad chip .
http://i.data.bg/07/09/28/579695_orig.jpg
L2, fsb wall is 390-393
Not sure what's the deal with my E2140. I can sometimes post at 8x400, but it never does fully load into XP. I've got a conductive ink pen so I'll try the BSEL 200->266->333 FSB mod when it arrives.
if it isn't stable at those speeds doing the mod will be bad, you won't be able to boot up your computer ever without going into the bios and lowering your speed down.
Got one of these over the weekend, first intel CPU in a long time, currrently on 3.1 gig default voltage e2140 ram is crapping ou tho, its cheal generic 667 :banana::banana::banana:, need some better ram i think it will do well this chip.
Forogt to mention im on a GB p965 ds3p revision 3.3 board
I will have 2 pick one of these to play with.
Hey guys, i just got a E2140 in, M0 stepping, along with a DFI P965-S Dark motherboard, what kind of performance can i expect here with this one, i know my L2 stepping doesnt go higher then 3.08ghz at 1.55vcore
it may end up at 3.0ghz with stock voltages, but YMMV. Also, guys feel free to pop the IHS of your E2140 and E2160, i did it to mine with razor blade (not soldered), but i did some mod to the mounting. :D
does anyone know which coretemp version is giving the most accurate temps for the M0 stepping?
I've only seen L2 and M0 steppings. Does a G0 E2140 exist or is ClubIT teasing me? I'm shopping around for prices and it looks like ClubIT's "G0" is really a M0?
http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/989/g0orwhatwg5.png
I think its really an M0...
Guys i had a chance to play with the chip a little more tonight, however i was only able to get it to 2.6ghz at default vcore, which is about 1.16v. I tried booting at 2700mhz and took the vcore all the way up to 1.52v and the nb volts up to 1.4v, but it still wouldnt boot. Beyond that and im starting to push the thermal limit, do you think the CPU stops here or is it the NB that needs more volts. In which case im gona wait till i get the north bridge coolers in. The mobo is a DFI Infinity Dark P965 S, brand new.
men.. i wanna do this.. for real...
i have this e2140.. the nest i can get its 2.9ghz with +.05vcore
io want to achieve 3.2ghz.. thats my goal...
i have a msi p6n sli and cheap "Team" ddr2 800 mem... all i wanna do is get this baby to 3.2ghz... i dont really know much abuot playing with voltage but if ya guide me i will do it
so.. what are the settings.. i saw ur screen shot but i feel there more to change and be able to achieve 3.2
hey guys i have this 2gb kit coming in. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148144
I want to get a 2140 and one of these motherboards.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127031
or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138075
which one will do better with the 2140?
personally, i like my IP35-E for its IDE placement since i still use IDE dvd burners. it also uses a full sized ATX layout not the short one the biostar uses (smaller board). the overall layout is better on the abit compared to the biostar. i don't know how well the biostar will oc so i can't help you there. there are plenty of other users on there with the IP35-E and they really love them.
B3=L2
G0=M0
Or what?
Tried the BSEL 200->266->333 mod and no go on a Gigabyte P35-DS3R. Won't post, so I've given up and settled with a nice 8x375@1.350V in BIOS setting. So much for the 100% overclock :|
cmon ppl.. uh
the Vtt in my board comes by percentage... so i dunno how much to increase it if needed. thiis is what i got
fsb 1600 x8
vcore +.065
mem voltage 2.00 (guided by screen shot upthere)
i dunno what else to change
i cannot post with this config... i want to do 100% overclock...
Hmm im stuck at 376 fsb on my 2140 and it will not move above that, looks like a wall. was hoping for 400 fsb at least
ferjero, you are going to have to increase your vcore alot more for a 100% overclock, what RAM are you using?
im using Team DDR2 800mhz 1024mb.. .
its cheap xD but it works tho...
anyways my mobo its a msi p6n sli
the settings available to change are
cpu fsp (rite now its 1400.. all i can get its 2.9ghz)
ratio ( @ 8 rite now)
memory bus
vcore 0.050
nb voltage 1.25
sb voltage 1.5
vtt (shows in percentage)
spread specctrum (shows another menu with 4 options i disabled them all... )
uber memory config (theres so many stuff here xD)
my video card its a xfx 8500gt 256mb (for some reason dxdiag says 512 xD, i swear is not "turbocache crap"...)
im using stock cpu fan.. but the case is full of fans everywhre (like 5 xD) so as it is right now (2.9ghz) im getting 35-40Celsius... so... how much i need to add to the vcore? i already tried 0.075 and no go .. should i increase the NB voiltage too? what shall i do?
also theeres no a mem ratio option (to set it 1:1)
http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/7094/29ghzmo3.jpg
this is what i've been able to get.. i want to achieve 3.2ghz... plz.. make my dream come true
you are going to have to set the vcore to atleast +0.15 so thats double what you have tried already, you might need more than that but under full load the stock cooler wont cut it at those voltages and speeds, i would recommend you upgrade your heatsink, my 2160 runs very hot at 1.4v and 3200ghz and thats on water, these chips run alot hotter than the other core 2 duo's i have tried.
good luck
wow... double... mmm
and hows the temp...
mine runs at 35-40 in 2.9hz
That sounds like idle temps to me. look for a free program called Orthos.
Run the small FFTs (stress cpu) this is a good way to see if your overclock is stable. plus it will load the cpu and get it really hot so you can see your temps under load. If you want an decent inexpensive cpu cooler try this and strap a high cfm 120mm fan to it or get an extra 92 mm fan and use it in push/pull config.
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16835124017
make sure to buy some arctic silver 5 too.
uh.. i've been running the small fft's thing.. and its been running for 4 hours now.. and still doesnt finish xD
i downloaded a software called speed fan and it says that my cpu its... mmm
well.. temp1 57, temp2 36, temp3 -128c xD, hd0 40c, core0 59C, core1, 59, core 50C mm wait.. i think i know what it is... temp1 = NB, temp2 = sb...
hd0 its my IDE hdd (i have 2 satas running on raid 0 and one ide for torrents only) core0+1 its the cpu and core = video card
you need to add 15c to speedfan, (its tjunction for our chips is 15c off) so i think your temps are getting a bit out of hand. You really need an aftermarket cooler.
Orthos won't finish running, it will run until you tell it to stop.
what volts are you using at the moment?
Did you try +.15 yet? try see if it boots into windows but dont stress the CPU or your temps will skyrocket, if it does then it will be worth it to purchase an aftermarket cooler (altho its always a good idea)
LOL @ trans am sig..
I just got the 2160, would it be ok for me to oc useing the cooler that came with it? If not witch cooler should i get?
I just tryed now, and all i got was up to 2250GHz, with 250MHz fsb. I tryed to push the fsb higher, but the computer won't start. I have a Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L Socket 775 motherboard and memory is DDR2 667 can you guy's help me to get the CPU to run faster plz? I'm new to this so i don't really no what i'm doing.
Thanks
@Brutalis you need to do some reading regarding how to overclock a system first. Hint *STICKIES*
i seem to be walled at 422. 420 great, 422 freezes. CPu volts at 1.45. Tried P35 and now on 680i LT SLI, and same story.
i dunno what to believe about the temp...
msi dual core center says that the temp (right now as im typing this) its 35C cpu, 34C system, 53 C video card (why the video card its so hot :S)3the cpu its at 2.799 and voltage its 1.23v, memory 1.9 pcie 1.5, 3.3 it s3.39, 5 its 5.12, 12 its 12.5
i hope this mean anything to ya to help me getting 3.2ghz on stock fan.. if its not possible then i will get that 1 u told me... mmmmmmm
i started to run the ftt stuf.. (orthos) and iits says 60... and it going up.. ok...
69-70 it is... as soon as i closed orthos it went down to 42 and it keeps going down
i guess u were right i have to get that heatsink... but what about the settings (if i wanna risk putting 3.2gh
Hey so i did some reading and got my 2160 to 2.8GHz. But when i try to run ORTHOS ( StressCPU - Gromaes Core ), my computer restarts. Anyone have any idea why it restarts?
Got a nice E2220 :D
Max SuperPi 1M
http://www.muenster.de/~askme/e2220-spi1m-8x400k.JPG
I might as well throw my hat in the ring too.
I am not sure if its EVGA's new P31 BIOS for their 680i-SLI boards but I've been running my E2140 @ 3.0GHz wth the vCore set to 1.2813V for about 5 days now without any problems with a load temp of around 50ºC
Voltage vs. overall overclock is much better than my E4300 running the P27 BIOS. Maybe the P31 BIOS will help my E4300 overclock but that is another test.
Too bad e2200 isnt in shops yet in slovenia.
I have e2140 now, i planned to buy e2180, but ill wait on e2200.
Edit: i just discovered that my e2140 goes 440fsb, stock and toothpast (yes u read right, creme for brush tooth) :)
Edit2: 455 fsb wall :D
Because i dont have money for thermal lols :D
Im getting about 65C with 3.0 and stock.
here is my e2180 100% oc (water cooled, ambient=14C)
system: ip35-e, 2gigs a-data vitesta ee, x1950xt
http://img455.imageshack.us/img455/7292/pi403x10oc8.jpg
real vcore dunno  as I don't know the correct measure point on the board
but vcore in bios was set to 1.725V
I know this might sound very high, but the temps were pretty ok, and the chip responds well to increased voltages. And I only needed it for a few minutes. Well, so far, the cpu is still alive :D
Still, 1.7v is an :eek:ing thought. Then again, these are $99 chips. Thinking of getting one to stand in for my quad (sell X3210, wait on Yorkfield), and pushing it till then - polished lid and all.
Her is my E2160 chip, hits the FSB wall at ca. 375-380MHz (doesn`t matter what I throw at it on Voltage on chipset or anything else and lower multiplier doesn`t help).
http://stud.aitel.hist.no/~arvehan/t...60/mem_okt.JPG
Stock cooler, and 1.40V in BIOS. Mainboard is a Gigabyte DS3 with P35 chipset, memory is Kingston PC4200 CL4 value. Not done tweaking memory timings and speed at all yet, 1.8V on memory goes up to 460MHz at a little better timings shown on this picture. :)
E2140 + Vapo LS + P5K3 + Cellshock DDR3-1800, weird but true :)
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=131
just had my e2180 (m0)
+ Gigabyte P35-DS3L
TR Ultra 120 eXtreme
533MHz crappy ram
i'll play around with it and post my results later on :D
Guys, I have exhausted all options and might need a hand here.
MB: Asus P5K SE
CPU: E2160
Ram: Random DDR2-667's
Cooling: Bigwater 745.
I can get 371Mhz FSB full OCCT stable, everything's fine @ 1.575v, but when I try to push it to 372Mhz, it just refuses to boot. I have tried dropping my multiplier from 9x to 8x but it does not help at all. Upping the voltage even higher does not help.
I have tried the BSEL mod, surely enough it boots up at a default 2.4Ghz now, but the situation has not changed.
Is there any other way getting past this wall? I can boot with 333FSB @ stock voltage but BSEL 333 failed to boot (it booted once @ 3.01Ghz then it won't boot again). I'm sure BSEL 266 (which i have now) will at least help somehow? But it has not.
I have lowered the FSB all the way down and ran the FSB:RAM ratio to 5:6, the Ram will happily run at 400Mhz no problem, so I do not think the RAM is at fault.
Any help reguarding jumping this Great wall of FSB would be appreciated, thanks.
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=263002
Note that is cooled by intel stock alu and arctic qeramique
Seems to top at about 3300MHz @ 1.518v (330x10)
http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/2...x32mfx6.th.jpg
3400 is unstable even with 1.550v
The bus is not an issue here, i tried lowering to 9x the multi and i managed to get 340 FSB stable (didn't try higher than this).
It's not a RAM problem neither, cause they should be fairly stable at under ddr2-667 speeds (same chips of crucial DDR2 667 kit).
I think it's just a cpu problem; i could pump 1.6v in it and i'll get 3400 2x32M stable, but i don't think it's safe to run 1.6v 24/7.
Do you think it's a mobo problem?
These are my bios settings for 3400 (not stable):
Can you see problems in this configuration?Code:10x340
PCI-E frequency: 90MHz
C.I.A.2 = disabled
Performance enhance = standard
DRAM DLL = option 1
ram at 680 4-5-5-15 2T (subs on auto). (i'll tighten them later on)
Voltage:
CPU: 1.550v
RAM: 1.8v
G MCH: +0.1v
PCI-E: +0.1v
FSB: normal
DDR2: normal
Also, is it viable to run EIST and C1E when overclocking?
Thanks

Hi.
Is it ddr2-800 or 667?
Anyways: try loading defaults bios.
then put:
EIST / C1E: OFF
PCI-E: 100
FSB: 400
CPU Ratio: 8
DRAM: AUTO (timings on auto) - you'll work on timings later
CPU Voltage: 1.5v
Then run 2xSuperPi 32M. If you can't complete this, try lowering the fsb.
Anyone can post images for 200->266 and 266->333 pin mods for E2xxx?.
Thanks.:)
its ddr2 800mhz
thats why i wanna get up to 3.2ghz cuz then it will be like ddr2 400x2 (800) and cpu 400*8 and that sounds nice.. .
so i will turn off the c1e.. what about the HPET ?
keep everything i didn't mention at "default" :)
I'm planning to get a E2140 M0 soon. Is FSB wall a common problem for Pent Dual-Core or its just luck? I'm planning to get it over FSB 400. Thanks.
common problem at around 400MHz ( + - )
If you are planning 3200MHz, you should get a 2160 just to be sure
cheers
I don't have a problem with my E2140 at 3.2 GHz...Only bumped the vcore up, because something was causing it not to be stable, so i bumped voltages for nearly everything up, and it's stable. I need to do some tweaking.
VCore set to 1.35v
