Hmmm....seems the BadAxe2 gets rocked haha.....Anyone want a BX2?
Hmm, this board is now available @ my local Fry's. Must resist, must resist :lsfight:
Here are some pictures from my build, I'll post my brother's later...

You really like the board that much bingo? I'm sittin' here eye ballin my my IN9 32X-MAX that I just threw together to test a new X6800 (L631A which is looking like it's going to be a pretty good one) and I'm really itchin' to waste some money and put this Abit back up for sale...
So far I haven't had any warm or cold boot issues at all with mine using a Q6600, it came with the 0202 bios.
The qwerk I've experienced with autorecovery is that I have to remove three of four sticks of ram which for me happens to be easier than removing my video card to reset the jumper and redo all my bios settings.
For some reason if I remove three sticks of ram autorecovery works everytime, after saving and exiting the bios I reinstall the ram, haven't had to touch the reset jumper since figuring this out.
Got mine too:) Bingo can I borrow a Quad:D
Hey orion23 do u think a hr-05 will fit on that NB with that TR ultra 120 x there?
For the HR-05 "SLI", it sure looks like it could. There a lot of space between the HSF and the Video card.
The regular HR-05 could fit. The HSF overlaps the NB a bit, but it might work!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v460/orion23/NB.jpg
the p5k dlx looks like a great board. I may get one.
Well I have 4 sata disks and 1 sata dvdrw.
No matter what config i use, always the same disk disappear :(
About cold boots, i don't know what are you meaning but i have problems with my QX6700.
If it starts well, i can run prime with no errors in windows. Sometimes it starts but freeze entering vista.
I had lots of problems to install vista, im starting entering my serial number and the mouse and the pc freeze...
This things happens with OC, stock i think i have no problems with cold boots.
bingo13, give us the new bios please...i cant use my pc with this one
It recognizes 3 here, the problem its the 4...
Another strange thing i have notice.
In Vista, if im at stock i can open control panel.
If i made OC, the control panel blinks and don't open.
I use my QX at 3.3Ghz for everyday, its the same speed i used in evga nf680.
I tried 367x9, 415x8, 472x7...and the last one, once windows starts can run prime for hours...
I just hooked up a fourth hitachi drive and it does not recognize it! I hope this is just a bios issue. I don't want to rma this board cos with cpu voltage damper enable it has NO vdroop | saw .002 twice in 4hr orthos small ftts.
Are you getting random bsod in windows?
You can, right now i have 2 disks in raid0 and a 3rd connect. All with my DVDRW sata drive.
The problem its the 4th disk, it don't appear every time and hang up the system.
I don't think its that causing the problems with OC...
No.
If it boot, sometimes it blocks in start, i don't have any bsod...i play games for 2h without an error.
But the things aren't right, because i cant open control panel for example. Display properties don't open either...
Vista runs wired but but i play games fine...
If i remove OC, it runs fine. In this case i hope its the problems with quad core, and be fixed with next bios.
I think its bios problem
which bios are 'you' and '426hemi' running?
Wow, the NB is so bloody hot on this thing...
have you tried 307?...406 and 407 beta bioes, although they are for the P5K (non-deluxe)?
EDIT: look here: http://www.jmax-hardware.com/index.p...d&ascdesc=DESC
i should correct my post as to the beta bioses statement for the non-deluxe P5K...they appear to be regular bios updates...asus ftp site even has 0414 bios available for download for the standard P5K.
I would not use the P5K non-Deluxe BIOS on the Deluxe boards, they tend to screw up drive settings and memory performance optimizations are different. I have another beta from ASUS on the P5K-D but it still needs some work, no reason to release it as it is just as bad as the 0307 when it comes to Matrix RAID setups. We should have a new 04XX update shortly, that one I will post.
Wow, the P5K dlx 0304 BIOS really seems to have dropped my temps...
Mine came with 0304...appears it was a return at Fry's...and of course they just threw it back out on the shelf. dimm slot one has a damaged section where the lower "hook" is mounted. Still latches onto the memory okay but looks like I could easily bust off the other wall and be screwed...
Aside from that the board runs great thus far...though I think I'm gonna be jonesin' for my SLI when 3D benching :yepp:
I have been running fine all morning on a partition on my 250g in ide mode.
Hope the raid issue is a bios thing cos I love this board.
The DDR Maximizer is working now!

Just wanted to post a quick thank you to eva2000... All of your initial posts are proving to be a great wealth of info and providing a nice base of reference to work with. I'm so used to working with Nvidia based boards that I can get a bit lost when something new comes along. So far this board is pretty fun to work with and you've taken alot of guess work out of the equation
For anyone curious about the heat pipe assy...be prepared for a long journey cleaning up the mess you make by removing this assy...if you are curious as to whether or not heat is being transferred properly thinking the heatsinks feel rather cool even though you are pumping a decent dose of voltage...
The north and south bridge are mounted with something more akin to a two part thermal epoxy. Key word "epoxy" :) You will need a blow dryer to heat up the south bridge as it covers a large area (chip wise) and you will not be able to remove the assy without heating up contact points during removal. Compared to recent mobos I've seen this at least makes good contact as opposed to massive globs of grease running every which way.
http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/3...0518ov9.th.jpg
It took awhile to get the SB cleaned up. Just multiply the NB that you see times two. This was using Arctic cleaning solution, blow dryer and fingernail. Heat it up, apply cleaner and let it sit for 10~15 minutes. Remove a layer and repeat. Not looking forward to cleaning NB and avoiding damage to the pad...
The PWM's are covered with a thermal pad and it makes piss poor contact, maybe 75% total. Considering how well the board runs it doesn't seem to be a major point. Prepping for phase right now which prompted the removal in the first place (plus just a tad bit of curiousity why the sinks felt so cool, relatively speaking).
Anyway, just wanted to warn those thinking they may need to remove and regrease. Asus actually did a decent job and this particular heat pipe assy works pretty well...
Not bad for initial 24/7 set-up with QX6700 on air, with RAM at 1080:

Yeah, I thought your comment earlier about NB heat sounded "strange" :D Even at 1.70v it is nowhere close to 680i NB temps...I thought maybe heat just wasn't being tranferred proper but that doesn't seem to be the case. This heat pipe assy might actually do what it's supposed to do...I hope ;)
they have the deluxe bioses in a different section 307 being the latest.

P5K based Commando 2?
it's gonna be Blitz Formula for DD2. Blitz Extreme for DD3. http://www.techpowerup.com/?31835
Would the prices of these boards reduce once we get to the official release date?
Release date??? Go to your local Fry's...or do a price grabber search. These things are available all over the place. SEE FOR YOUSRELF
Go get one...you'll be happy :D Price will surely drop a little after awhile but right now they are mid 250's...not really too bad considering the performance.
How accurate is PC probe mobo temp? It seems to register so high when I am running blend, easily in the 50C range or better, but my NB isn't that hot to touch and I know the airflow is ok. What is it measuring?
For people running blend (especially with quads and boosted NB/FSB volts), what is your PC Probe mobo temp reading after about 15 minutes or so?
Here is my Q6600 maxing out on the P5K Deluxe, not bad.
Putting more voltage on NB, SB, FSB and cpu doenst make a difference, its just the Q6600 maxing out under the tuniq I think.

A bix thanks to eva2000 for creating this thread and making life easier for the rest of us. Although I love this MOBO for its higher FSB, my initial scrutiny clearly indicates that I will not get as high a stable clock (Super Pi 32M, 3dMark06, etc.) with my QX6700 as on my previous board, i.e. the P5W DH Deluxe (BIOS 1601), which was stable at 4,5 (multiplier 15 and 300FSB). Installed Vista last night and have just started fiddling around a bit, but first super pi 32M run at around 4,3 is not so bad after all...
Must...Have...More...Voltage...

I need Vdimm :)
very nice kent. what cooling are you using?
Supposedly Penryn will be using a slightly different power delivery system; will the ASUS P5K Deluxe be compatible with that, or would a new motherboard be needed even still for Penryn?
The P5K Deluxe is 45nm compatible, says so right on the box :D
Also just wanted to thank all the people in this thread for the great info about the P5K, I just got all my parts 5/25/07 and am still putting stuff together.
This is my first post at XS but I've been a long time lurker.
When I was trying to install windows I couldn't get BIOS to detect a drive unless I was plugged into either SATA5 or SATA6. None of the other 4 ports can be detected by bios on boot when a powered SATA drive is connected to them. Am I missing something with a jumper on the board or a setting in bios?
I would hate to RMA this board as otherwise it is a nice toy.
TIA,
JS
P5K is a very nice board too bad the 6600 is FSB limited at 500MHz.Ram is GSkill HZ PC6400 at 1200MHz 2.5V...
Just like to add these are the parts I got for the new Rig I'm still puting the peices together atm (darn cousin's wedding  ) but I'll post back results once it's completed but so far It will post @ 3ghz w/ stock volts of 1.35 just bumped it to 1333 bus and all 4 gigs of memory work fine at 1066 w/ 2.2v @ stock timings, I'm still putting all the parts in the case though and cable routing in the P180 is a PITA w/ the PCP&C Silencer as its longer that most power supplies. :)

it's important to know the max fsb for the new p35 boards, since I just found out that new 1333 c2d's (E6750,E6850) will have lower multis.
E6750 will max at 8 and E6850 at 9.:(
this means the subzero cooling owners must get boards will really high fsb wall (arround 600) to achieve
high clocks on, say,e6750.Otherwise it (oc) will be the same as on e6700 with max multi 10.
Any word on new chipset water cooling blocks for the P35, or will old chipset blocks (such as Maze4) work on it still?
Will there be a P5K Deluxe with no WiFi?
Asus has posted there 0311 BIOS for the P5K Deluxe at this link:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so.../P5K%20Deluxe/
pc probe2 and ai suite same reported temps.. MB around 29-34C under load depending on room temp in open desk bench setup with 60x25mm sunon 23.5cfm maglev fan over stock passive nb heatsink with original TIM intact
http://fileshosts.com/intel/Asus/P5K...ime95_load.png
darn was hoping didn't need to remove it like P5B Deluxe = me has no soldering skills LOL
not really i've been on 0307 for a while now so 0311 is just a small jump...
wonder if 0311 is the bios bingo13 was talking about with improved memory performance and fixing the retail quad core reboot issue ?
311 adds 1T/2T command rate... needed to reset my cmos to boot... testing now.
FANTASTIC
any results yet?? ohhhhh fantastic!!
Too early to tell! but I am having a bit more success finding some options for my Q6600 in the 3530 to 3550 range with 311.
Let's just say that yesterday 3555MHz @ 1.5625v + damper on rebooted after 7 minutes priming, and right now 3546MHz has been going for 40 minutes.
Could mean something, might mean nothing.
Will know in a day or so. Right when my Xeon 3220 arrives ;-)
It's strange that the p5k vanilla's bios is socketed, but it's soldered for the deluxe.
nice mobo ..very good work
well, Bios 0311, in my case. 1T wont work with divider 1:1 bus 400.
bus 333 divider 5:6 1T works fine.
damn. so sounds like 515 1:1 1t won't be all too likely eh?
I just noted that changing values in the bios, when P5K reboots the screen change color, I noted for example that increasing volts on cpu the color of the value doesn't change in the bios, remains blue (on P5W becomes pink and with more volts red) but when I reboot the screen becomes gray, gray w/ stripes, pink and purple based on the bios settings.
Is this somehow the same as the value color alert-notification for the P5W ?
Anyway it's an amazing mobo !! Really happy with P5K dlx !!
im trying to keep my volts down @ 1.4 and am stable at 3gHz (380FSB 8x mult)
ram is OCing nicely 2.3v 1140. 5-5-5-15 2T
0311 BIOS is installed and working well.
before switching out your Q6600 with your E6600, can you see what the max overclock is at the default multi for the Q6600...i am interested in getting this board but i want to make sure i can crank out more performance than my QuadGT board...you have a Tuniq cooler on it which is the same for my Q6600; although i have been toying with the idea of getting the Ultra 120 extreme cooler.:)
i have the comparison sheet for the P5K right next to me...the non-deluxe version is an 8mb Flash ROM versus a 16mb Flash ROM for the deluxe model; hence, i presume the need for a soldered chip-ee:) ...8mb is also found on the P5KC...that model handles both DDR2 AND DDR3 memory.
daaaamn 16mbit rom?? guess the days of floppy flashing are really over now
OR...it is going to be one heck of a compressed file..LOL
i wonder if the P5KC has or will hit the streets in early june?
it might make more sense for me to buy that board so i can transition to DDR3 when it become less expensive.
botty-bing, botty-dong!:D
Just put on 0311. My previous highest FSB post was 485x7. I am now able to post 500x7 with QX6700. Won't go into Windows yet, but that's substantially better if I do say so.
Edit add: Hmmm....I seem to be getting a tad more drop in voltage from what is set in BIOS to actual. I had to tick up BIOS vcore one notch to 1.5v to get the same volts in Windows under load now that I was getting under load before. No big deal really, as my ultimate volts and temps remain the same, but interesting if this is a characteristic of the new BIOS. Anyone else seeing this?
