I should be getting this board delivered tomorrow. Kinda worried i'm gonna have all sorts of issues with it seeing so many people having problems with PSU's and RAM. DFI motherboards have always been known to be picky but this is getting ridiculous. I will post my results tomorrow evening.

I read somewhere that this board has trouble with SilverStone PSU's. But I've been using a SilverStone ST60F since the day i got this board and it's been fine as! rock solid =P

I decided to return the DFI board I had after it simply refused to work at all (random reboots and lockups when installing the OS) with my Silverstone Strider. I've tried all sorts of possibly imaginable combination of cables and power configuration and settings you could imagine.
The replacement board, the Abit QuadGT is doing mighty fine with the exact same equipment.
Does anyone know if the HR-09's will fit onto the mosfets of this board??
Got the parts yesterday and put it together last night. Installed windows without a hitch and no whine noise to speak of(it's at stock now though). System powered on the first time(used 8 pin CPU power) and no issues thus far with my OCZ 520watt Powerstream. More results when i have time to play with it. I must say that at 2.13ghz and RAM only running at 667mhz the system is a LOT snappier then my AMD setup.
Got this board a few days ago and tried it with a 4300 and many different kinds of memory. I couldn't do anything with it. Couldn't oc it much and the memory wasn't working worth a flip.:( Made the little xs fs sign up and was going to sell it and try something else. It sat there last night and I didn't list it. Today I left work early for a long weekend and thought I would give it one last try. I didn't want to take the 6600 I had in another rig out because the hsf is a pain to put back on. I did though and it paid off. Just a quick try at 3500 and four sticks of ram. The 4 sticks is the most important thing to me as I bought a lot of this good cheap ram and would rather buy a mb to use it then different ram for the mb. Haven't tried any higher but am happy it will do at least this after reading some about the board.

i try with 2140 too and 1:1 is not avaible
That's one of the problems I had with a 4300 before changing to a 6600. Looks like a bezel mod is in order.

I don't think there is 1:1 in 200strap. Shouldn't you be able to switch to 266strap and reboot? Then the 533/667/800 changes accordingly.

I almost bought this DFI board a week or so ago and decided against it for this very reason.

It's not a bad board. I am pretty pleased with it so far. It pisses me off that it's 20 bucks cheaper then when i got it last week. (video card i got went up by 40 bucks tho:D )

My mobo started beeping strangely when I set the vdimm to 2.1v. What does that mean? I thought that it's perfectly safe as the ram's packet says that 2.0-2.1v is the operating voltage. Now the ram is at 1.9v @800MHz.
I have the same ram. I have set it to 2.1v without issue before but i currently run it at 2.0v. When does it beep? If it beeps right after you save and exit then it could be a POST error code. Are you making any other setting changes aside from the RAM voltage? I have found this RAM does not need much more then 2.0v to run @ 800mhz. I can even go a bit beyond that without increasing voltage OR adjusting timings.
I wasn't exactly a beep, more like a simple melody. It started when I got to Windows. Maybe it was the Smart Guardian? Should I just ignore it or is it something serious?
That was the SmartGuardian, got the same "song". But couldn't find the reason. o.O
Your right, it's not a bad board. The problem is it's not a great board either. I've had many "not bad boards" but was hoping this was better. I can't really oc much more the with the DS3 I was using. The Abit quad was a better board. When the dust settles more on the 35's, this mb will have a new home. Something i noticed today. From what i have read about this board you shouldn't need to increase NB voltage until you start hitting 500+ on the FSB. I had mine at 1.30v and tried turning it down to 1.25(forgot i had raised this before increasing the voltage on the CPU). Well..... not such a good idea. I blue screened out of nowhere after a few minutes of booting into windows. So I cranked it back to 1.3v. No problem. Just to make sure i put it back to 1.25v. Problem returned. I thought it might be RAM undervolted or timings too tight. Loosening timings and increasing voltage to ram did no good. Sure enough the NB voltage was the culprit.
Just a heads up to others out there that think they are hitting a wall too fast when overclocking with this board. It appears you may need to increase NB voltage before hitting 500fsb.
BTW this is at 3.2ghz(8X400)CPU with 1.42v and RAM at 800mhz with 2.0v.
White ram slots also appear to be the ones to use. Experiencing random hangs at POST when attempting to use blue slots only. At the same settings the white slots do not give me issues.
Got it to boot into windows at 3.4ghz @1.45v. Orthos failed after minutes. Looks like it may be doable on slightly higher volts but more then i would want on a 24/7. Looks like i'm gonna be at 3.2ghz for my 24/7. Kinda bummed but still not a shabby overclock. I'll keep tweaking but i think that may be it for this chip. L650C690 -- Not bad. But not great. :) (just like my opty..... damn)

What bios is everyone using now? Its been a while since I last updated mine.
some strange boot issues have been occurring. like windows splash screen caught in a loop even at stock speeds. having to reboot a lot after the board has been turned off for a while. I just leave it on 24/7 now.
I'm using the bios that shipped with the board. 424.

I wouldn't use winflash. Everyone make sure you bring your system back down to default speeds before flashing!!
Ok. I just completed flashing and am currently running at my overclocked settings before the flash. One thing i noted and i figured i would share here. Every time i have flashed the bios before i was able to use an ISO on CD-R. This one is similar but uses a floppy. 1. It takes about 2 minutes for the image to install on the floppy and 2. The flashing process takes about 5 minutes(I'm used to 1 minute maybe 2 at the most).
To sum it up. Don't freak out and shut your system off because you think it's taking too long. Let it run and it will complete.
Also, anyone using Patriot DDR2-667 LLK might want to reconsider this BIOS update as doing so made my board give a long 1 beep error at power up. To resolve I had to put in my old Corsair 5400UL to boot and flash back to 4/24.
(I did try to up the RAM voltage and put the Patriots back in, but Windows would randomly restart and give me the 1 beep error again).
Unfortunately, even after flashing back to the 4/24 BIOS, I can't get my old overclock back...
I fiddled a lot with bioses and sometimes did encounter the long beep myself as well. Powering off and back on usually fixes this. If not, resetting cmos did so
Tried that to get windows to boot, but then it would restart or lock up and I'd be back to the long beep. Also, if I cleared the CMOS, that would put my RAM voltage back to 1.9 which in 6/13 also causes the long beep error with my Patriots (whereas in 4/24 it doesn't).Quote:

I have it installed. No problems at all with it. Loaded optimized defaults before and after flashing and then put in my overclock settings without a problem.
I just checked my link a few posts up. It works fine here.

I have 6-13 also and it works fine however this is still beta for a reason.
yeah, they unleash different dividers, providing the respective 533/667/800 at the strap fsb.
so this means, at 200fsb, you have 3:4, 3:5, and 1:2.
naturally, because it's a lower strap, fsb limits will be lower, if you don't become ram limited first

Well guys I'm on my second board and I'm calling it quits on the DFI\Intel board headache. Don't get me wrong I still do appreciate DFI for the 2 Ultra-D's I have but this board has some issues for me.
My G.Skills sometimes won't even boot with this board, I have to remove one stick, boot into bios, set ram back to 800mhz shut down and then put the other stick back in or I get a very long beep and black screen.
The vreg on the memory is horrible, my first board would under volt by .11v-.15v and setting anything above 2.25v resulted in a total shutdown and restart after booting into windows. My current board under volts by .15v no matter what and will shutdown at anything above 2.3v which is actually only 2.15v measured with a multimeter.
I've already got my return shipping label from Newegg and the board goes back tomorrow. I'm also gonna RMA the ram just incase this board somehow caused it any damage due to the screwy vregs.
I think I want to try the P35-DQ6 FTW :yepp: Not gonna try anymore DFIntel boards for awhile yet.:down:

Note: Official release of bios 703 killed my overclockability. I flashed back to beta 613 and my overclock is back(3.4ghz @ 1.5v now). I'd guess it's whatever was needed to support the 7950x2 thats killing it.

This dfi is an excellent product. I would suggest it to anyone that running dual core. But i will RMA it only because of this annoying sound :(

The key is to set Mode3 and Mode2 at the first 2 DRAM Timing options. Without this i couldnt get more than 530 fsb
The sound is abit annoying, but I hear the current shipping boards are not overclocking as well.:rolleyes:

anyone try a g0 in the p965? fcg says it's a no go currently, and i'm too lazy to check the microcode on the 703 bios. got a e6750 enroute. hoping to use the dfi for a few more weeks until x38 comes out to decide if i should go p35 or x38

No mention of 6f6 either, and we know it works. So is it necessary? And I remember a few bioses I tried didn't have microcode and still worked. So will g0 need this at all? It'd be 6fb right?
