Hi, someone can help me with my MSI GTO?
I've mounted the GTO BIOS v3 by MVTech and modded with NiBiTor with value of:
3D 650/800 Delta 0
Th 550/600 Delta 0
2D 300/400 Delta 0
So 2D all ok and stay to 300/400
Using RivaTuner monitoring i see during games my card goes up to 650/800 and after few minutes turns down to 550/600.
WHY?
Pencil with 1.9v mem and stock cooler, temp 55°C
And someone can explain me what is the geometric delta clock?:p:

Delta is the value above the core clock at which the ROPs operate. For instance, if your core works at 650MHz and the Delta is 50MHz, the ROPs will work at 700MHz. Won't make much difference in performance, but will limit OC sometimes.
Try this BIOS I attached, but please don't ask why it doesn't identify the card as GTX eventhough in BIOS it's set to do so, I have no idea. I tried all BIOSes and all of them do that.

I want to mantain GTO because i don't have SLI GTX dreams =))))
Open it in Nibitor and you'll see. It's orignally a GTO BIOS modified with GTX ID and GTX clocks.

Folks ... my GTO is flashed @ GTX (650/800 w/ no vmod's ).
But something really weird happeans ...
In a friends computer this vga is 100% artifact free at 2D/3D.
In my computer at 3D all is ok but at 2D I get artifacts ! Small pink/purple dots in windows ! WTF ! :confused: :confused: :confused:
Any ideas ???? Both systems are equal ( p5b dlx + be quiet dark power pro 600W ... )
Did the reading on the vmem and it's at 1,815v
Tried in my computer the 91.xx and 93.xx forceware drivers and the 0614 and 0804 P5B Dlx BIOS.
Always get artifact's at 2D beyond 730MHz on the mem !! :(
Shouldn't it also occour at 3D if the mem was not handling well the 800MHz ?

I've noticed with NiBiTor that in the bios file that I flashed the 2D has 800MHz specified for the mem (as in 3D) !! Shouldn't it be less ?
OK, but what version of nvflash did you use ? Because I think the one I use doesn't overwrite the GPU ID when flashing.Quote:

Hummm .... it seemed that the cause of my problem (650/800 gived artifacts at 2D) was the lower mem voltage.
Then I decided to give it a try to the pencil mod.
After some 10 tries and retries (man it's so dificult to pencil one so small resistor !!) I've reached 0.777 Kohms and that gave me 2,03v in mem.
Now the "Autodetect" in Forceware drivers gives something like 656/860 !! when before at 1,815v it didn't even work !

Now when manual OCing the mem with the GPU @650MHz , and testing by the drivers, it passes till 885MHz !! :D
When OCing the GPU with mem @ 800MHz , and testing by the drivers, it passes till 720MHz !!
I know from the XFX 7900GT that the max GPU OC depends on the mem frequency and vice versa !
So the question is : should I OC the GPU to the most it could handle and them OC the mem or should I OC the mem to it's limits and then OC the GPU ? :D Must bench mark to now that I know ;)
Others questions :
- should I try to get more voltage to get a more higher GPU/mem relation or 2.03v is good for a 24h/day use with the stock cooler ?
- if I return to the GTO BIOS I will get a better OC ?
- the right resistor should't be penciled to get the GTX omhs too ?
1. Wouldn't advise it, 2V is high enough for this RAM, there are plenty of cases where 2.1V kills the RAM.Quote:

I was using the coolaler GTX bios and windows identified my vga as a real GTX ! weird.
As an information to you I used the same nvFlash version and parameters to flash coolaler's GTX bios and your's ! Version 5.36.

This is for vgpu,i only got 20K,50K and 100K var. resistors,can i use them? If so witch one and what should it been reading if i want +0,1v up on my gpu?

Original value is only 25ohm. So it is hard to do vmod with 20Kohm vr. I have tryed it and I can tell you it was hard. First nothing happens and then suddenly your voltage raise a lot.
I suggest that you buy 200-500ohm vr and do Vgpu mod with it.
Shouldn't you use a VR which is about 20 times bigger then the original value?
So 500ohms VR should be used and not 200-500k, that would only mean that you would have bigger steps. Since you get too big steps with 20k you would need a smaller VR to get smaller steps.

That bios is excellent Alexandrus, can run 700/1680 stock volts + cooler :D
I edited it to 650/800, 650/800, 600/800 though with 50 delta and just going to run those speeds for now :)

But imho it's pointless to set the 2D closk that high and throttle clock like 3D clocks, if the card enters throttle it is definitely be fubar with those clocks, and once you see the throttle in action, it's definitely something wrong with the cooling, so I don't imagine anyone wanting to play a game in that situation.
Anyway, enjoy the BIOS and as soon as I manage to do some improvements I'll post the new version.
Until then, for all of those who asked, here's the BIOS again.

I have videos playing constantly on my computer (seriously) even when I'm working in ms office etc so I notice jumps and stuff sometimes when opening apps and raising 2D clocks sorts that out. and finally, I get my 2nd 19" tft in 7 days :D which will just play videos lol
Question guys? I have a EVGA 7900GTO that clocks to 695/1.52GHz mem. I can get it higher (mem @ 785) but it starts to artifact. Would you think I should try this "testbios" out and see if it can help out? thanks
Since you do not seem to know much about the card, I wouldn't flash the bios.
Ok guys I need some help.
I got my card running 720/880 and no artifacts in 3dmark 01-06.
Problem is i noticed sometimes my card makes that high pitched noise, usually when switching from 2d to 3d.
Its not very loud and I'm sure I won't hear it when I put everything into a case but anyways.
This happens whether i overclock the card or not.
Well basically is this gonna be a big problem?
should i get it rma'd?
All GTX, GTO and GT cards I've seen do that. Maybe some do not, but I don't know, I've seen quite a few and they all did that. Not a big problem.
My 7800GT did it too, nothing to worry about :)
Somebody want a killer bios for your GTO card ?
I got one with timings even tighter than the stock GTO bios.
Got one with 20 delta for air setups and one with 0 delta for sub zero

-Can improve your max core clock by 20-30Mhz
-VERY tight mem timings with minior/none changes to your max mem clock
-Can help you get more stable 3dmark scores
This bios has the same voltage in 2d as in 3d, thats becouse sometimes the card is an little slow to turn on the 3d mode so you get bad scores in the first 3dmark test, i tryed to prevent that by setting the same 2d and 3d voltage so you can also set the same clocks in 2d as in 3d, then it wont matter if the 3d mode is slow to kick in becouse the clocks is the same...

I know it can been done and im working on another bios with even tighter timings, I will release this bios as soon as im finished testing.
My MSI GTO does 800mhz mem stock but the core wont budge at all.
Do you think I would benefit from doing the pencil mod for the memory?
I'm no good at soldering but is there any other way to increase my core clock?

Ok, a few words of advise here as i've been messing with my GTO today.
First of all, bios .09 defenately clocks a lot better than .15, most will ignore this but today i found out it actually is true, even though i was reluctant to flash cause i had a feeling i could not help, no way.
I was wrong, this bios helped mem overclock big time.
Second, do some finetuning on the mem voltage.
I got ~715 with stock voltage (.15 bios) ~730 @ 1.99V (.15 bios)
~820 @ 1.99V (.09 bios) ~835 @ 1.94V (.09 bios) and ~850 @ 1.91V (.09 bios)
Going lower than 1.91V lowered my overclock.
This finally helped me breaking 12K 05 which is one hell of a task with a single core AMD cpu, it took 3,2GHz to get there, card clocks 724/837 ( had 1.94 Vmem at the time)
Also took down 6K in 06. :D Man what a boring bench to watch. :gay:

Pencil mods are dead easy, just pencil the resistor and measure resistance, that's all.

well I have something somewhat new, I finally manage a +62k run with a singelcard in 3dmark 2001. With 800/900 in some test with 12c water and only 1.62V on gpu, 1.95 mem. It wont run all tests though but Im getting there..

But im a bit frustrated, it seams as im experiancing Throtteling even though temps are below 41 :(
I start up ATI tool when I artisfact scan it does give 3D voltage but it stays in 2D Mhz and dosent go up!

I forced the 2d and 3D settings to the same voltage and Mhz level via Rivatuner.
That solved my problem.
Also increased the fan to 100 % while testing, gatta love Rivatuner :)
With GPU vcore I did 950 Mhz core but only 800 Mhz mem :(
Did the Vmem last bench session but dident get the Vmem readout to work.
now Im hitting 840 Mhz mem on Air and 1.90 Vmem Ati TOOL artisfact free :)
