Not the optimization man.. but THE UNIQUE OPTIMIZATION SPONSORED that can cut .2/.3s at run.... the thing is different...Quote:

2.use diagnostic mode from msconfig , and reboot
3. you need to have more than 1.8g file from OS to the dir of pi you put on extended partition, not driver.
that would be the fast way to shave 80% system usage.
but I don't recommand copy-waza uses this way, cuz that would kill some necessary services under windows 2003 will NOT make your pi faster.
well if you do say this, then I even don't have to tell you how to after all your folks insulted me. Not am I that person, are you guys just thinking if we xxxx team isn't able do it, so is OPB.Quote:

Nice job on the SPI 1M WR, and thanks for all the little tweaks you posted in here, some that i've never tried.
Curious what's your total PF usage before you run SPI?
ok, thx sir :D, with my tweaks and your tweaks I think it's possible to get 8.7s at 5550MHz :)Quote:

Accusing OPB of cheating is downright outrageous. He is one of the nicest guys I've met on the internet. He is very helpful and likes to have a good laugh. Just because you are jealous that he has beaten your team in the race to 8 seconds, doesn't mean he is a cheat. The more you post silly comments, the more respect your team loses in the OC World..
Ok man... so the future will speak for us... ;)Quote:

Good to see this thread is sorting the "men" from the "boys"
The result is awsome. Granted some people are going to have doubt's, that's their problem. As with anything that seems to good to be true, people feel it has to be proved that it IS true, rather than looking at the results and seeing for themselves.
Without pioneers or those pushing the envelope, we'd live in a very boring world...
People "flaming" those who have issues, stop. You're adding fuel to the fire,
it's attitudes like this thread which drive people away.
@lawrywild: there is the cpu-z validation on cpu-id site...and pi validation on XS site...when opb post these validation..i can accept his wr...

I didn't join here for a long time while I was lurking. OPB is a genuinely nice guy to everyone that he talks to. All that trying to turn his record into cheating has done is make you and your team look like a bunch of babies. You got beat to 8 seconds, you were close, but in the end tweaking wins out. Look at Team Japans results for times that although people would have 5-10% boost in clock speed could not be beat. Your team may have better clocks, but OPB beat you to 8. It may seem like all your hard work is for nothing, but that doesn't give you the right to call him a cheater. All you have done is disgraced yourself and your team for the future...
So what way you recommend for 1m and 16/32m runs :D ?Quote:

During the AMD period , I even had hard time to run 1m under maxmem=104 setting, basically could be I use 2x1g, even you have 512x2, still shaky somehow. so, think about the capacity from the memory you installed and used especially Intel is totally different from AMD.
hint.:
if you run super pi under real time mode, it will be really faster than you run it normal mode. That's 100% correct under AMD system.
From Intel, you will be correct if that apply to 1~8m ONLY. Sometimes, 8m even not get any improved either.
OPB
OK I understand. Few more questions:D
How about this services? I guess you don't share with us which you are keepping ( I'm wrong :D ? )... so, maybe you tell how many are you keeping ;) ?
What do you think about running wth 4x512 or 4x1GB (:D) sticks? It should be faster i think. Are you trying to run 11x500 with higher vdimm and vmch? Little worse timings but maybe it will give small boost?
What version 2k3 did you used? 32/64bit?
And very interesting idea with value of IoPageLockLimit - I never try to test it that way :)
BTW
Are you using Ramdisk?
Actually, that Ramdisk might be an awesome way to run SPI :D
Congrats on the WR.
But with a record as significant as SuperPi 1M, nobody is above verification. I don't care if Jesus himself posts an 8.5, healthy skepticism is a good thing on the Internet (for my part, I don't doubt him at all, but the whiny phanboys defending him are just too obnoxious).
The day you think anyone is above proving himself, that's the day you become a phanboy.
FWIW, I think most of the doubters are trying to psych OPB into revealing his tricks, and I say, good!
BTW, not willing to read 10 pages, what RAM did OPB use?
His own DDR2 TX OPB edition.
BTW, eww @ cat, that's just gross, kittie pr0n.

just out of curiosity if the system had used lets say the gigabyte iram as os/pf partition would the results be better ?
I think, cpucore is very very hot over 5.4Ghz, even under LN2 cooling.
doesn't matter if you turns off C1E or CPU internal thermal control in bios or not.
Intel cpu always protects itself very well.
maybe that's one reason why OPB's 5.45G pi_1m faster than coolaler's 5.5G.
and higher fsb/different mobo/higher ram_clk and better ram_sub_timings.
besides, conroe runs slower if you disable one core, 'coz there is always other tasks in the OS.
beside, OPB is the master in OS optimize.
but 88MB mem usage before pi running is not something special.
mine=33MB as bellow, normal system start and with memset running :

still Congratz OPB's great results.

OPB
I red this thread with a lot of interest.
First of all OPB, congratulation man, you are best in the world for SuperPI 1M and one of the best overclockers in the world:clap: :worship: . Anything to say about your world record, only an insane curiosity to know how you made this incredible tweaking (I know thath you will not share your secrets with everybody, but after a lot of hard work this is the right thing to do).
My great curiosity has been provoked from a previous post that I red in this thread. I want to stress and to underline that my following argumemtation is only because I would like to know more about these arguments, and I am shure that the score posted in the previous post is true and is not a fake (congratulation also to this man, coolaler, that is at the moment the best overcloker in the world:worship: :worship: ), but there is something that I can't figure out how it is possible. Before the argument opened from this thread I had not never watched to this score with attention, and after the tiscussion started in this thread I watched with more attention to the screenshoot of previous superpi 1M WR, that is contained in the following screenshot (I underlined what I can not figure out ):
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/2...69000s1qn0.jpg
I try to explain better what I cant figure out and I am shure that there is an explanation related to the tweaking used to make the previous 9.0s world record. The last two run have been made with the following times:
loop 19 in 0.642 seconds
last loop in 0.140 seconds
In understand ( I don't know if I understand right) that the curent version of SuperPI 1M makes calculation of 1 Million decimal digits of pi calculation using Gauss-Legendre algorithm. This algoritm as second order convergent nature. Then if you want to calculate up to n digits, iteration count of the order log2 n is sufficient. E.g. 19 times for 1 million decimal digits.
To calculate superpI 1M it is necessary an initial run for value setting, 19 loops are necessary to calculate the digit with the desidered accuracy and the last loop to close the calculation with pi value.
Now if there is a tweaking to minimize the last run of SuperPI 1M this will be very exciting and I think that your record soon would be exceeded from Coolaler:) .
What I mean is that the first run and the last run of SuperPI are different from other loops in the middle, in every score I have seen the time necessary to do the first run is very short, for example: 0.125S in your WR, it is the same in S.O.T. score and in coolaler score. Instead the last run was done in 0.375s in your score, 0.390s in S.O.T score and 0.140s in coolaler score (incredible).
In the followings a chart with the run of the best three score in the world for SuperPI 1M to better understand what I mean:
http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/7...perpi1mha5.jpg
from previous table it is easy to understand that the last run time of coolaler it is very impressive.
At the end is 0.140s time a result of a tweaking or is this just casuality?
Please tell me if my argumentations are totally wrong, or if is something true explain me some about this tweaking for last run.
Tanks in advance and again congratulation for your new world record.
P.S.: sorry to everybody fom my little english
Thats a really useful table! Seems like Coolaler only loses out compared to SOT right at the end, despite his excellent finishing time (loop 19-> finish) OPB is ahead from the get go, suggesting an improved set of bench tweaks.
*Maybe* a Maxmem/page file tweak separates SOT and Coolaler?
-> you`re English is fine! :)
If you add OPB's "loop19" and "calculate pi" it adds 0.781.
If you add coolalers "loop19" and "calculate pi" it's 0.782.
Something between the cpu, caches and memory made the loop19 to be slower and the calculate to be faster. Don't ask me why because my best 1M time is with an Opty165@3ghz :D:D
I tested some tweaks and for an 1M :
- "Diagnostic Startup" is worse than "Normal Startup" , you must remove some processes (userinit.exe, svchost.exe, mdm.exe, explorer.exe, spoolsv.exe...).
- "Prefetcher"=1 is the best.
- Change "Processor Scheduling" to "Programs" and change "Memory Usage" to "Programs" is better than "Background Services" and "System Cache" (but I dont know if that will cause some problems for the highest frequency for a bench and screen).
- In "Performance Options", just "Use visual styles on windows and buttons" and maybe "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop".
i think that the last loop is written on the hd...and the score is little affected by th disk....
try to run a 32m on an ide hd
and then at a raid o with 2xraptors and see the last loop
:D Yes - maybe also the astrologic constellation had an influence on that run............... :slapass:
:toast:

Master GoriLLakoS is about correct.:D
the initial result can be faster only base on:
1. Good setting of permanent paging files (Set that file @ other HD not partition)
2.Good result depends on the writing speed on both I/O chip from Motherboard and HD block size especially on Raid (0 for the most) HD system.
3. Good result will be gained from the write to read , read to write even write to write along with precharge timing of command related settings. well what are those settings? You definitely can figure those out especially from Memset 3.0.
Hope this clear little bit.
OPB
