I got mine from ewiz about a week ago and it's 69MOAG1211**... I didn't look b4 I put AS5 on.
Something I am noticing, my e6300 runs a bit hot in this board, 4-5c higer @ idle than the p5b idle, oc'ed the chip runs cooler than the p5b. anyone knows why?
it could be merely the firmware they used, which is programed to interpolate the temp reading from the CPU.

Hey Wax Im not so sure...it sounds like its got the same problem as my P5W Deluxe. As soon as you go over 1.65 the vDroop starts so I will have problems hitting 4.5ghz or above with this board too. Man I need to figure out how to mod the vCore....Quote:

That was done with a Vapochill that's more than two years old.
A lot depends on the CPU. Some chips that do well on air don't necessarily give the best overclocks with sub-zero cooling.
Hmmm have received my P5W64 today but have faced a problem...I cannot set the VCORE below 1.400V...this is the minimum...I have flashed to 0215 BIOS and still the same...anybody with the same problem? :confused:

Does this board come with the extra fan to use on the VR sinks when watercooling, like the P5WDH? I didn't see it in the description, but one of the review sites I saw the board on it WAS included.

It is BY FAR the best C2D motherboard I have tried.
I previously tested the P5B-D, DH, P5WG2-WS Pro and an ABIT A89.
This one is superior, by a large margin.

Are you sure that this motherboard is limiting your o/c?
Yes, they overvolt this board to compensate for vDroop, but it is IMHO very stable, at least the one I have is. With about 4 E6600's I have tried, I had not hit above 385 with any C2D mobo with standard 9X multiplier. With this P5W64 I hit 400 without a problem. However, 3600MHz is about "all she wrote" for my current week 28 chip at 9X (or any multiplier below that).

Maybe its just the x6800 running into problems also note that I did not remove the stock chipset passive cooling yet. I will be trying some other configs out this weekend and adding better chipset cooling... dont get me wrong the board is very good but I have now purchased the following:

Have you tried using 11 multiplier instead of 10? I think x11 with 4:5 ratio will give you very good results.
With 460-470FSB, you are pretty much forced to run 1:1 with this board. The boost you get in memory speed at 4:5 will make up for lower FSB.
Ill give it a try tonight ... my Chilly is acting up a bit to so my temps may be a tad higher than needed. Hopefully my modded Mach II will be ready soon and temps wont be a concern anymore.Quote:

One more thing that seems off. When running my modded 7900gt cards on my Pw5 Deluxe (using modded sli drivers) I was hitting in the 21,000 range @ 4.15 ghz (e6700). On the P5W64 when I tried running I was hitting 16000 @ 4.3ghz (x6800). Im assuming it has to be something to do with slot position and a bios switch but I havent discovered which option it is yet.
I tried the 1st blue slot and the last black slot for my positioning. I also tried the two black slots but locked up mid way through (probably heat related...).
Has anybody else tried running sli yet with this board?
Must say I am having problems overclocking with this board also....While I can reach the same CPU speeds with this board as I did with my P5B-D, I cannot reach the higher FSBes with this board :(
P5B-D I was running my E6600 at 7 x 466, with this board I am having to run at 8 x 400 :( Just doesn't post much above 400 FSB....and I replaced the thermal compound on all 3 heatsinks with AS5, something I didn't do with the P5B-D.
Guys.. What should be the link width for the graphic interface on this motherboard. I have a 7950GX2 and this board shows link width x8. :slap:

Thats my problem then, I could post upto 500FSB with the P5B without any problems and I couldn't go further only due to CPU and northbridge limitations, with this board I went strait for what I settled on previously (7 x 466).....guess this board really isn't as overclockable and I am going to have to make compromises somewhere :(

i think the 64 Pro has similar problems as my regular Pro with certain multi cpu's...i have an E6700 that wouldn't go over 400 FSB regardless if i lowered the multi to 6x...definitely a northbridge chipset problem....probally an inferior or defective chipset...could be the reason why they came out with a revised northbridge chipset.

Do some testing, you don't necessarily need to run a high FSB to have a fast system. You might want to try to overclock the CPU & ram using the default 9 multiplier instead of worrying about a high FSB.;)Quote:

These are requirements to do "ultimate" test for this board...@ minimum 4.8Ghz.
1. High clocker X6800/X6700 Kentsfield B3 stepping 7.
2. Vcore/Vmch mods....Vdimm will depend on your ram.
3. Bios 0022.
4. IDE HD.
5. PCI VCard.
6. LN2 or "good" cascade
After that....test it with 3Ds and either CF or SLI cards:)
Then you can compare it with ATI RD600/BadAxe2 when they released.
Comparo with 965 board won't yield good results.
I gotta say i'm disappointed with this board, 335$ spent and it will NOT do over 415 FSB fully stable. Sure it goes to 440+ FSB, but anything more than clicking makes it BSOD.
It's a super stable board, i love that part, but i expected if it hits 470 FSB, that i could get 430-440 stable, and it is just not happening. Don't expect crazy FSB, this is just another 975x board.

Some people feel IDE drives can tolerate higher frequencies. I remember with the old SK8V which didn't have a PCI lock, IDE sometimes allowed a slightly better overclock. The 0301 bios seems fairly decent. I just wish Asus would fix the VCore issue. Selecting anything above 1.6v doesn't give you more voltage.
This was done with 1.5625v (bios) and air cooling. I'm not complaining.:)
