problem with the board is memory, you need good one's
corsair 6400 c5 fatty did 500+ on the asus p5b ,on the biostar it stopt at 370, no matter what timing.
now g.skill c3 and running smooth at 500x8 :D
Late October at best, shortage of ICH8R chips right now. ;)Quote:

I'm also curious to hear about the differences between 965 deluxe and 965pt. Obviously 965pt has just 4 sata ports and no raid. What about overclockability, possibly missing bios settings compared to deluxe and if all bios releases are suitable for all 3 different versions of the mobo?
It's not quite clear in my picture but the memory voltage jumper is there, and also the manual mentions 8 GB max for both deluxe and 965pt, so I'm pretty sure that biostar's web page reports a wrong maximum for deluxe.
My situation is that I ordered the deluxe and received the 965pt. I'm considering keeping the pt if the only differences are the sata ports and raid. This is why I can't test it unless I first decide to keep it. Of course I'd demand a discount in this case.
Arska, basically the PT and Deluxe has the exact same board layout and I would like to believe that they both share the same BIOS. However, flashing the Deluxe BIOS to the PT is not recommended unless Biostar says so. This is because the PT does not support RAID.
I would also say that the overclockability should be just as good as the Deluxe. I'll drop Biostar an email today and update this thread once I got a reply from them.
My bad, I checked Biostar's homepage again and noticed that they do offer a separate smaller bios for the 965pt.
just got 965pt today, i flash it with deluxe bios date 0803. it able to hit fsb 500
http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/3897/fsb500if9.jpg
but its not stable, but it boot to windows n able to do 1Mb pi, try orthos n it restarted
put it down to fsb 450 n its rock stable with default voltage
I decided to do a vcore mod today. After some research I found a way to do the mod.

Btw, check a few posts above mine and you will see loserkids doing 500FSB with the 965PT with DLX BIOS. Maybe you should just fire up that board of yours... ;)
Look at this........the board has 4x sata
ordered a deluxe , and getting this :hm:

But it runs 500fsb with the 0914 bios......only no goodies
so this is the way biostar selling the boards now??? OMG but its cheap € 115,-
LOL Aw man. That is not cool.
I'm sure there is a decent price difference. Some kind of $ back is due  :slapass:
Yeah, it's running alright now. I requested a discount due to getting a different model. Nothing much in overclocking department yet, trying to figure out how to get a sata drive recognized (wd2500js). Bios can't detect it, shows only a blank entry for it. I wonder if I should change something in bios to cure that? Not recognized even when sata 2 was disabled.Quote:

OMG..... did I just see 550FSB on a Biostar board??!
this is sick! 551FSB!!!!!!!!!
Are you hitting 500fsb with the pt and its original 0914 bios? If so, could you share your voltage settings and what fsb do you boot it with?Quote:

Board can apparently be bought in germany for one hell of a cheap*** price of 113€
the webshop you mean send only the stuff to germany and all the others don`t have this board in stock and won`t get it for a long time, I don`t care because this board is to small for me ( my cooler is to big because memory is to close )Quote:

Not a big fan either of biostar, but still looks like a very nice budget board.

ditto.
They have the TFORCE 945P here in the US... why not the 965P?????
biostar 965pt

Nice board , but original bios 914 overhere, maybe try another bios because you cant disable c1e in this one.
when the system doing nothing for 5-10sec the board drops voltage to 1.0v, thats not so nice on 4ghz+ :D
strange freeze on the board to, wil post results later with another bios.
1m max air for now

I was more than happy with the Biostar boards I owned so far. That S754 Tforce does 400Mhz HTT before the cpu craps out. And the 965 board seems to be a nice board as well. Think I will be getting one with a E6300.
Thanks for the vdimm and Vcore mod. Will do them right out of the box :)
hey guys:-)
just read some pages of this article...
i was about to get a asus p5b dlx but then i saw this....looks crayzee!
#
after 2 GA DS3 died when set ram timings in bios....im about to get this one.
i read you need good rams for max FSB ...
what about Cell Shock DDR800 recommended Vdimm is 2,2??
Anyone knows the cell shocks?? Should be same chips like Gskill GBHZ.
I would like to hit at least 500FSB....
What about cooling? Do i need any special cooling equipment? E.g. for NB or just a fan on it? if so...i would appreciate a silent one...any recommendations?
Is it really necessary to do the vdimm mod? i had the cellshocks on my GA DS3 @ 470FSB with 1,9v vdimm 4-4-4-8.
AND FINALLY:
some guys wanted to get this board...
im from germany and i would buy it for anyone who is interested in it...
as im new in this forum, we could manage it via ebay and payment via paypal...would be no problem, so.... msg me if u intersted.
My main question:
I have a 7950GX2....does it run on this board or not?!? I ready somewhere that it doesnt ...is this true? hopefully not!
THX for answering questions!
i sold my asus p5b dlx for this board and i've no regret. at all. :)
just i'm still waiting for a bios update.. does biostar has their own programmer?
ok im having troubles with this board. Seems like its got less options than a DS3. I don't see any dividers either. Can't seem to get past 333mhz FSB, when i could do 440mhz FSB with my DS3. I'm using kingston valueram ddr2 533 Hynix FP-C4. It could go 440mhz 1.8v 5-5-5-15 with my DS3 but i cant get past 333 mhz fsb with my Tforce P965PT.
any advice for me?
What bios are you running?Quote:

I'm wondering if there's a need to change the NB hsf.
There are a couple of posts in the beginning of this thread that say they were able to oc a lot higher when they were limited before they changed the NB cooler.
You could post a screenshot of your ramtimings aswell, maybe something is set to the wrong values.
Dividers can be set under the system memory frequency option. IIRC you can set 533, 667 and 800 which corresponds with 1:1, 4:5 and 2:3Quote:

With the 914 bios YOU WILL have freezes, that's because of the C1E function setting your CPU to 1,1Vcore.
Use The Stilt bios instead, it'll work fine :)
Close, but this is the regular version, not the Deluxe... :slapass:Quote:

i wanna change my current mobo with this biostar to pair with my prescott 506.
does it really have a good performance like those already posted?
first time i was interested in DS3, but too expensive :(
in Biostar's web listed that 965pt doesn't support DDR533, is it real?
also i still have 3 IDE devices, 1 HDD and 2 ODDs. what should i do since 965 just have slot for 2 IDE devices only?

and the 965PT is WIERD!!!!
i can actually run my gskill HZ's at 500+ but only with 5-5-5-15 and only if i set the 2.2v jumper.
it needs more vdimm.
but i flashed my 965PT with the Deluxe bios and it uns better with that bios.
plus the mch voltage now goes to 1.8v and fsb goes to 1.5
but i can only run the HZ ram at 1000+ ONLY if i set the ram to 800mhz.
this means my max overclock is about 3.1ghz.
if i do 1:1 i can boot at 4ghz,, but this was only on air so i need to throw my water on it and see if it will let me run better.
but the 965PT is just wierd ... i am not sure if i will keep it or not.
I see the Rebels have a 914 Mod BIOS working on both the Deluxe and the PT.
Linky...
what do you mean by weird?Quote:

WHY ? im not sure i fully understand it.
as for a 1:1 ratio.
its no better or worse than the DS3.
can someone show me the 965 Dlx or PT running the gskill HZ's 500+ at less than 2.4v and what timings they are using ?
and are you running 1:1 or running on a divider ?
plus the lack of a cpu multi is killing me too, i cant get any high FSB since i am stuck at a 9x multi.
Probably about the same time a 256mb 7300gt ddr3 does(everyone+dog can get one, expect in the US, even though they've long since been released. Lame ass market segmentation is my bet).
I am not 100% sure yet, as Biostar didnt reply, but I have the feeling the PT is a replacement for the Deluxe for whatever reason..
All German shops, that had the Deluxe before now have the PT
lestat did you run the memory on a different 965 board before?
If so what were the max speed and timings you were able to run?
And what exactly do you mean by that sentence:
You can run the memory at 1000Mhz when you set it with a divider that it runs 800Mhz??? Doesnt make much sense to me, sorry.Quote:
but i can only run the HZ ram at 1000+ ONLY if i set the ram to 800mhz.

Rumor has it that the ICH8R's are in short supply.
Anyone know what the differences are between the P965 PT and the P965 vanilla?
Oh, and regarding the PT vs. Deluxe, is the ICH8 vs ICH8R the only difference? If I could expect the same level of overclock on both boards I'd be more attracted to the PT in that case.
I havet seen a P965 vanilla yet, so I dont think there is one out.
The PT only has 2 SATA ports and raid functionality less than the Deluxe.
They should clock the same and you can use the Deluxe bios for the PT.
i thought it was four sata ports for the PT and six sata ports for the deluxe
EDIT;...confirmed...four sata ports for the PT:

without a cpu multi option i was unable to test max FSB but it did boot at 440x9
but thats not a cold boot thats set it in the bios and reboot.
does the deluxe model offer a cpu multi lowering option?
Yes, it does.
then, i will wait for the deluxe model to show up in the USA....actually, i really want the one with onboard video....i guess i will have to wait several months for that one.
wierd,,, even flashing the 965PT with the Deluxe bios did not open the cpu multi... hhmm....
is it hidden some where ? or is it right on the overclocking page ?
check the overclocking page...biostar puts it there for their AMD board.
yeah its not there.
even using modbin its not there hell its not even in the deluxe bios.
buckshot do you own this board or you just saying it has the cpu multi
cuz everyone i talked to said the dlx didnt have it either
and in fact Stilt says himself he used EIST to control the multiplier.... i believe it was stilt.
EIST meaning i assume they were using Crystal CPUID
you can try Biostar G965 Mini ATX, it has onboard video, but I don't think it's OCable ;)Quote:

I Have seen some pictures at the Cebit showing a G965 board with on board graphics. Havent seen any info on that one after that :/
Why dont you use CPUID to control the multi then?
If you select a lower multi, say 7, you wont be able to clock the E6600 as high as a E6300 with a default multi at 7 would clock.
i had 965 DLX and i'm very sure there is no cpu mutiplier in the bios :)
that's NOT fair!:DQuote:

it did the same at 9x as mine did but it took more volts.. not sure why though
but it does have a nice vcore rail. not as much droop as my ds3 but it still took more volts. again wierd and not sure why.
My Biostar seem like it doesn't like DDR1000 very time boot up it's freeze. I have no more clue what to do now. Need to buy the DDR800 to test

That looks tasty Benny. Where and when did you buy your e6300? Also, what memory are you running?
I'm thinking about getting the Biostar TForce 965PT and over clocking the e6300 CPU. Does this board let you change the fsb:dram ratio to less then 1:1 say 5:4? I ask because I have pc667 that can over clock to pc800 but I might want to over clock passed 2.8ghz (7 x 400). If this board can't what one can for about the same price?
965 chipsets cant do that, 975 can and the upcoming rd600 can do fully async
E6300 week 27. I bought it at local shop in my country about 1 month ago. I'm using KHX8500D2K2/1G memory from Kingston.Quote:
