why does it say pentium d ?
edit: well it does say stepping 1, assuming tha's the first one cuz it don't even have the name in that line
for A1 i think going good........with the g.skill

wish i had you guy's luck mine wont even do 925 4-4-4 without bombing.
1000 5-5-5 wont even work.
i wasted my money on this kit for sure.
and whats the deal..
they are supposed to be F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ the sticker says so and thats what i paid for. but CPU-Z is saying 6400PHU1
someone tell me this is an error on cpu-z's part
or is that simply denoting 1gig vs the kit being called PHU2 for 2 gig ?
seems odd i guess
is not your bad luck... is your mobo no good i think....Quote:

i have tried the yellow slots,, the orange slots..
right now i am getting ready to try single channel both sticks side by side. (1 yellow slot and 1 orange slot)
if that dont work then i will try 1 stick at a time.
but hey atleast i am one of the few with a good solid working DS3 and can run 400 x9 without any problems. way too many other people, of course these are the total newbs that are overtaking the forum, cant even do that.
so i cant complain i guess. im just frustrated i spend so much for this ram.
single channel 2 sticks and single channel single stick no good.
4-4-4- or 5-5-5-
wtf.. i dont think its the board... especially if 5-5-5 dont work.
my HZ is 0631 is that still D9 ?
but the 6400ZX did the same thing so... maybe it is he board ....
Hmm, I just got my kit, SN 6306 (no leading 0). I can't even boot windows ddr2-920 5.0-5-5-15 2.3v. I am 95% sure its the BIOS though, I'm using AB9 Pro with latest bios 11. There is some real problems with the board...
Here is the default BIOS screen:
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k1...BIOSscreen.jpg
Ok then the board decides to boot with 3:5 divider instead and a strange Tras.. I can get into windows, and then fail orthos in less than 1 min. every time:
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k1...SPD340mhz1.png
Ok so manual setting 1:2 ratio and 4.0-4-4-12 or SPD, and 2.1vdimm gets me memtest86+ stable but apparently the board forces CAS to 3.0. So at least I know I can do 3.0-4-4-12 ddr2-800.
I have tried lots of different settings but I cant boot 1066 strap 2:3 divider at 230Mhz FSB no matter what, even 1.5vcore 2.3vdimm (CPU is D 820). I didnt try anything but 230Mhz FSB though, but I figured they would at least boot 2.3v 5.0-5-5-15 ddr2-920 ..
Here is the screen where it gets stuck, detecting ram at 667Mhz divider.. so I'm pretty sure its the BIOS though I dont know why I cant boot at a lower divider, but there's probably other problems besides it setting the wrong divider.
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k1...dr2-800set.jpg
Also, I only have 1 entry in the SPD table wich is kind of strange to me, and with different timings than I'm seeing in others screenies.
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k16/jbmv/cpuz.png
I really hope its the board.. I'm too lazy to take everything out and put it back in the P5WD2-E i have, E6400 should be here next week can wait till then to tear this box down and assemble both PC's.
the board doesnt set the Cas to 3 i wish people would really take a few moments of their time and look around them, this great forum is full of even greater threads about this issue.
FYI,,, cpu-z just reads the wrong CAS timings its not actually booting at CAS 3.
if that was the cas my el cheapo oem samsung would be setting records since it shows CAS 3 @ 800+mhz so.. no worries guy it is only mis reading it.
look around it does it on several different boards.
here's some interesting info
With 975x motherboards at least the key to both high fsb and memory clocks and tighter memory timings is all in the NB/MCH (memory controller hub).
With Thermaltake Extreme Spirit II chipset air heatsink, my 1st pair of 2x1GB Gskill PC6400PHU2 HZ maxed out at 490mhz 4-4-4-12 at 2.2v
http://fileshosts.com/intel/Intel975..._single_tn.png
Now with Radiical chipset waterblock cooling my D975XBX Bad axe MCH/NB, the 1st mount, the same 1st pair of memory maxed out at 476mhz 4-4-4-12 and 433mhz 4-4-3-8 at 2.2v.
So decided to remount the Radiical chipset waterblock with fresh layer of Ceramique thermal paste. Guess what can do 490mhz 4-4-4-12 at 2.2v again. But best of all I can now do 488mhz 4-4-3-5 at 2.2v with very tight tRFC value of 25!
http://fileshosts.com/intel/Intel975...9s391ms_tn.png
With better MCH cooling seems my memory is flying even at 2.2v vdimm :D
Here's what clocks it took to break 15mins :)

What voltages do you guys still keep warrenty at? 2.3v?
~Mike
Eva -
all of what you said is pretty much a given and has been for ages.
if you let that NB heatup too much your clocks ie fsb is gunna be lower. keep it cool you get higher clocks.
ever since i had the P5WD2-E Prem., all 3 of them,, :\ then both P5W DH's and now the DS i have put a fan on the NB heatsink.
its a 100% guarentee that if you dont that NB is gunna get blazing hot.
infact, its preposterous that these companies think they can use passive heatsinks on these northbridges and expect to keep them cool.
and if you look your southbridge is getting awesully hot too. but most of them are not positions so that a fan can be mounted. your video cards get in the way.
mine, even at 1.65v never gets above 38c i like that. $2 fan. 2 minutes to warm up the hot glue gun and 10 sends to mount it, and you now have a nice cool running northbridge
Woah, I guess I could be band for this, and I may be under the influence... But I'm certain that Eva has forgotten more than you have ever known 'bout making :banana::banana::banana: rock so how 'bout a little respect here ...

I finally finished up a vdimm-mod on my mobo and just wanted to show my preliminary, quick SPi32M result @ CAS3.0 with F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ:
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe (nForce570 SLI), BIOS 0304
AMD AM2 Athlon 3200+ "Orleans"
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro
G.Skill F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ "0605", Micron D9GMH @ 2.70vdimm
SPi32M @ DDR2-940 8-3-3-3.0
I will have more results, with up to 2.80-2.90v, later on :) I'll be shooting for 32M @ 480-485MHz... Thanks! :peace:

g.skill tech can you confirm g.skill still uses d9 I've heard rumors that you've quit!? that would be pretty stupid lol.
I'm pretty sure G.S Technician would be very happy to know who's spreading those rumors... He has already fought off one of those here - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=111696Quote:

my setup:
- Gigabyte DS3
- E6600
- of course F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ :D
what is strange is that i can do 32M 495 4/4/4/12 with only 2.1v
but i can't do 500 with 4/4/4 or even 5/5/5 , i tried to increase vddr but it's worse :stick:
May you give me some tricks to obtain the "famous" 500 please ?
ps: i tried different ram ratio too and same conclusion
u need to think about...why ppl using D9+DS3 and most of them have DDR2 1000 can't reach problem but it runs at other motherboard no problem @ DDR2 1000 4-4-3  ?!Quote:

i got a verry strange problem with my new Gskill...
in dual chanel i can't go over 540Mhz screen, and 533-534Mhz PI 1M, but in single mode here are the result :slobber:

32M Dual = 16min 51.375s / 16min 48.594s
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bump memory voltage to 2.4v vdimm in bios, and managed to get memory to 533mhz 4-4-4-12 at 2.4v.
vcore = 1.35v

Damn, at last George   Is that your best pair? Have you played more with the other two?
EDIT: BTW, a buddy of mine from Europe asked me to get him a pair of that 2GBHZ, since it's not easy to buy where he lives. So, I got one from Newegg and it arrived on Monday. It's "632" (2006, week 32). Unfortunately, I had to ship it out yesterday, so did not have a lot of time to play around (about 6hrs) but got a bit of an idea. This seemed to be a tad weaker than my pair and the other one I showed in this thread earlier (that I bought from another person).
http://www.clockmehigh.com/cooler/sc..._3rd/front.jpg
It did SPi32M @ DDR2-1000 8-4-4-4.0 but needed 2.4v for it.
Then it apeared to max out SPi32M @ DDR2-1032 8-4-4-4.0 with 2.5v.
I stopped testing it further from the lack of time and sake for my buddy, not being comfortable with higher voltage testing :)
... just for those that wanted to get the idea what can be expected... Some pairs are stronger and some are weaker, naturally. Such is OCer's life
hehe yes at last :DQuote:

@Bachus - Look at SPD showing by CPU-Z for two diffrent pair of 2GBHZ. Yours sticks ( s/n 0605...) are PHU2-2GBHZ 400 4-4-4-12, but latest pair that you tested are ( s/n 0632... ) PHU1-1GBHZ 400 5-5-5-15...... Does it CPU-Z error or great mistake made by GSkill? Maybe a pair of 2GBNR memories is packaged into the heatspreader of 2GBHZ model. Very strange....Quote:

When you take a closer look at SPD tab on most of the latest 2GB kits from G.Skill, then you'll notice it bacame somewhat common. Just look at 3 pairs of 2GBHZ that eva2000 (above my post) has. They show the same SPD info as 2 of the sets I recently bought. Apart from a new naming rule that they have in place, I have seen here 2x1GB sets with individual sticks' SPD info of 1GBHZ, 1GBPK, 1GBNR, 1GBGA. They were all 2x1GB sets. There is something that comes to mind but perhaps G.S.T wants to clarify it, if neccesary...Quote:

There's something about the P5B Deluxe that lets mem stretch its legs further. If you look closely, it seems to allow speeds nearly as high as AM2 does, yet the performance is still up there. There were a sudden burst of 600MHz oc's recently, even a 650MHz. Dunno what's up exactly. It seems like in some ways the 965 is a bit more sophisticated than 975.
woah very nice indeed.. 965P has loose chipset latencies which help high mem and high fsb clocks.. loosen that they're still not as fast as on 975x at lower clocks though.
try on 4:5 divider and compare it to 2:3 with memset open to show timings and see
4:5 divider wont work on P5B Dlx, only 1:1, 3:5 & 2:3 :(
4:5 no boot or unstable in windows ?
if unstable
try testing 4:5 with memtest86+ v1.65 full std test #1-8 loops for a few usually on P5W DH errors due to too tight timings start to show in test #1-4 or test #7... find the max you can pass 4:5 with no errors, then boot in windows load memset and look at the values.. play with loosening those values and use setfsb or clockgen to raise the fsb:mem and see how far you can go
ah, with the beta Bios (0607) work the 4:5 divider
edit: with bios 0507 it wont boot with 4:5 divider (black screen) ;)
edit2: ok, it work only with 400FSB :(
Anybody with 630 batch got it pass 1000Mhz?
Got my ram yesterday 63309..i tried 500 mhz @ 4-4-4--15 2.3v and was not stable..might be MB? (p5w dh)
dam, i ordered my set from newegg.com, lets hope it can go up to 500 FSB at least.
Edit: got a pair of 0634 from newegg.com, will test it in a few days
I received 0627 by way of a G.SKILL RMA (2GB HZ kit)....is this also Micron D9?
At the moment i am doing an Orthos dual prime test with 450MHz (900MHz DDR2), 2.2V with manual timings of 4-4-4-12. Ratio is set to 2:3
7 hours 15 mins Orthos stable.
yes it is, didnt you read the previous posts?Quote:

Me too! I believe they use the same chips, but the GBGA's are warrantied up to 2.2, the HZ's to 2.1 - other than that, its the colour from what I can tell (and the ratings printed on the stickers!!)Quote:

Why its Part Number : F2-6400PHU1-1GBHZ....
on the stick its writen PHU2
and why the SPD Timing say 5-5-5-15 for 400Mhz ???
the Timing might be cuz my Gigabyte 8I945GMF is only 1.8 Vdimm, but why its PHU 1???
5-5-5 is to increase motherboard compatibility, as many defualt boards - like you said only boot at 1.8 when 2.1 is stock voltage for 4-4-4...
it say U1 because F2-6400PHU2 is the part number for a 2 pack of ram, and U1 is the part number for one stick of ram.
But its 2 GB ram... or u mean any stick is PHU1, and them both are U2 ?
but i think i saw PHU1 for sale, isnt it a old pair ?
this is totally correct. sometime the spd gets too tight, a lot of mobo will have no boot problem. thx for clear up again :)Quote:

ok thanks, hope to get the hell out of them ! :-)
What´s the max of your HZ with timings 3-3-3-8 ?
535 FSB @ 4-4-4-12 with 2.45v
http://s2.supload.com/thumbs/default/535FSB.JPG
540FSB @ 4-4-4-8 with 2.45V
http://s2.supload.com/thumbs/default/540FSB.JPG
what would be the max safe voltage for 24/7 with these sticks? Would 2.3-2.35v be dangerous?
