Playing with the I7 980 stock cooler. It looks nice, but is rather useless :(
Temps at stock volts @ 4 Ghz:
Antec Kuhler H2O 620 - 70 degrees
Intel cooler of performance mode - 81 degrees
Intel cooler on quiet mode - 87 degrees :x
I took out the H2O 620 because it was insufficient @ 4.5 Ghz. Instead I ordered a shiny red Phantecs cooler :)

The last one too.
Wow...that's some crazy terrible performance from a HUGE looking cooler. Odd the fan's not encased to channel the flow better. Hope you have better lock w/ the new Phanteks...looks sick!
No Tripod, table, or good lighting, so this is as good as it gets for now. :p
Galaxy GTX 580 vs HD4350!

I cut the bottom grill out for a bit more airflow...same for the rear. Looks a little ghetto, but it's not seen. :D

Ripped out the filters and took off the doors. Yes, dust gets in now. :(

Cut out 6 of the drive bays and tucked the cables away.

The whole thing's pretty quiet, not silent...but good enough. Small enough to carry to a LAN easily too!
There was a metal grill on the stock cooler, but it had to be removed as it collided with the NB cooler. Its not really big, its about the same as a £20 Arctic cooler with 4 heatpipes and a LED fan. It would be a great stock cooler if provided with 2500ks, but its insufficient for any CPU with HT imo.
From reviews I have read, the Phanteks cooler is better than the H2O 920 / Corsair H80 so I should be fine. I'm expecting 85 degrees @ 4.5 Ghz with it for benching, and 50 degrees at 4 Ghz for 24/7 based on comparison reviews to my H2O 620.
I really liked the look of the stock heatsink, but thats all that is decent about it. After removing it, I will leave it attached to its backplate and use it as a desk decoration lol.
Oh, the stock heatsink might have been better if I hadnt used the stock paste too, but i'm running low on MX3. Hopefully the Phankeks cooler will come with a nice big tube of something decent.
Haha!
And the Phanteks cooler at 4 Ghz is running at 57 degrees :)
An onslaught of pictures:

It was a pita to install, but fits my P182 case perfectly with low profile ram.
@Bhav - I think you need more CPU cooling power
WHAT IN THE...I don't even...wow...
@bhavv those cpu coolers are so sexy :yepp:
Me too, my temps still max out at 96 degrees at 4.5 Ghz :x
But I turned off hyper threading and then it stays below 82 degrees :)
If you want an Intel hex core at 4.5 Ghz or more with HT on, you need a proper high end water cooling setup, even a corsair H80 wouldnt suffice. The dual radiator one might, but it wouldnt fit in my case and I dont want a new case, me <3 my P182.
Better than NH-D14/Venomous X/Silver Arrow? Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better :/
This is the review I read:
http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages...review,14.html
According to that review, it is slightly better, but I only wanted it because it was red, and the Noctua and SA coolers are ugly.
Haha. I bought the Venemous X over the Silver Arrow for looks too. :p
Not sure if you want temperature results too in this thread, but at stock CPU speed an HT disabled, the CPU stays under 48 degrees:

Its at stock speed and HT off because I'm stressing my ram, it seems that 1866 Mhz Cas 7 is possible! But I cant get it stable at higher BCLK :x
just installed psu/OD bays cover and my freshly made clear side panel on my Core 1000 build

That case needs a window.

Lol, I thought it was a reflection. I blame the contrast ratio of my old monitor. :D
