Yes, ATI is quite pathetic. I mean, it's not like they're trying to innovate with their programmable memory controller. It's almost as if ATI WANTED to delay r520 for months :rolleyes:

If I remember correctly, they have only released 2 PE versions, x800XT PE and the x850XT PE. x800XT PE was present in very low quantities because of yields. The x850XT PE had much better yields and anyone who wants(wanted) could still get one (has gotten) one already.

If ATI releases this, it will be before the r580. The r580 will compete with the 7800Ultra.

The "War" is getting, well, i'm wondering if it's all ended up in speed, and the graphics don't mean that much, i mean, the game developer can't follow that race.

Guess the two companies think alike :) nvidia held back the ultra and ATI held back the PE. Classic tit-for-tat. I for one, am enjoying the show, although I wouldn't pay for either card; the amount I paid for the XL I have now is the limit of my video madness.

Guys, ATI can't launch what they DO have...what makes you thing the PE is going to make it to the shelves (and think of the price gouging by AllStarShop...)

Or were they talking about the 256MB version?

I agree. I'm not loyal to one brand or the other, but as far as ATI is concerned, I'm not impressed. I'm shocked Anand's would stoop low enough to publish a hype news flash comparing what Nvidia has on store shelves right now, today, with an ATI product that's two iterations ahead of what they can actually deliver.

I can't help but feel that ATI is on the ropes and that, becuase competition is good for all of us, some folks are going great lengths to help keep ATI in the game.

That was compared to the 256 cards. They are saying that the *cough* upcoming X1800XT PE card will compete with the 7800 512.

If the 512MB GTX scores ~9500 on avg in 3dmark05, this potentially could level the playing field...in stock 05 at least, beyond that, ATI will need the PE...definitely.

There's a market for everything. If you want it, it's a good card. At least its actually out now. Just pull your finger out ATI mke some Dam XT's, and lower the price.

They don't even have x1800xts where I am yet...
