best I've heard is to run the highest stable with stock volts. Well not stable, but stable enough to prime for 10 min or so, but no more. Then run some program that won't quit when it gets an error (not 3dmark01 or something cause often for me, that'll just cause me to bsod or my comp will reboot). Run that for a couple hours or more, see if it improves by running prime and see how long it lasts, if it does up your htt by a few mhz and leave the voltage the same.
I wouldn't recommend this in ur case since it's running so hot, you must have bad contact or ur just putting too much faith in the onboard sensor. But you could up the voltage, say 1.65, and just basically do the same thing. Only imo, this would work better, it'll net you a higher overall overclock faster I would think.
Yeah, I've been doing mostly the stock volts. I just hate it when it hangs at 70c. Using prime and that sp2004, they seem to run 50/50. Also using cpu burn-in. I've done a few hours at 1.65 volts @ 1000mhz according to what else I've read about "high volts + lowest mhz."
I know I should be doing this with a better HS but I'm willing to take the risk. My overall temp has lowered since installation last night (probably the paste settling). It's lowered from it's stock idle of 62c to 54c. No matter what, even at low volts, 1000mhz it with a large fan blowing on an open case it still runs 54c idle. It seems that the stock paste was really thin compared to other box purchases I made. I'm going to try high volts again ~1.675. Do you sugguest that at overclock speeds or the underclock I've read earlier? So far mine seems Prime and sp2004 stable less then 2600mhz at 2650 it comes up error in a few seconds. I can even idle and run at 2775 but it will restart with those apps.
I havn't heard of high volts, low speed. I'd try with just above ur max stable at high volts. And I wouldn't worry about temps, I don't think it's getting in the 70's, thats probably just ur onboard sensor guessing what the temp is.
thanks for the quick response. I'm only using the Abit AV8 Bios temps and the GURU application temps fromt the motherboard. I know my Winchester 3200 ran 42c idle and 56c throttled with this board. So I don't know if those were right either. Is there an aftermarket sensor that is more accurate than these motherboards?
Well, this is an edit:
I'll think I'll hold off on the high volts until I probably get than Zalman 7000 HS. The temps jumped to 82c with 1.65v at 2630. My Guru had had a Redline on it at that point (set my bios to cut off the computer at 83c). My curiousity is killing me but I'm too chicken with this reading now. Curses!
am i the unlucky one? mine says..ada3500dep4as caaxc 0432MPMW y931354b50061
Have you run it yet? How does it do?Quote:

Just figured a 050x CAA2C was more what I was looking for. I asked for and received an RMA# and sent it back on Friday.
Now watch, this one will scream like a cat with its' tail on fire. :)
Why not even try and see how it does?
i consider that too much..since i am impatient at that..but it does suck i didnt get the CAA2C..instead a dorn CAAXC...but ill do some testing on it when my new HSF gets here.Quote:

mine wasn't that hot at all..didn't go above 55 under any circumstances with my XP-120, I'll do more test when I get my RAM from RMA and report the results..
btw 55C was at about 1.66 volts and 2.8ghz or so..
if it's really average of 80c, wave goodbye to that processor lol.
my caazc
not bad, got my target of 3ghz everyday stable I was aiming for @ only 1.69v, albeit barely
Guess it will hold me till the venice 4200 or the deigo fx-57 comes out
ON a side note, damn this thing runs hot, I hit positive temps on my prommie for the first time ever.
And ya, my superpi sucks, my friggin memory won't go to 273mhz and the memory controller on the chip hates 300mhz which would get me a nice 26xmhz 2-2-2-5 so I'm stuck with bh-5 @ 230mhz....figures....
suicide

Did you mean CAA2C, or what you said, xxxZC?Quote:

Did you get it from Newegg or Zipzoomfly? I'm thinking about picking up one of these, but until I hear results from this stepping, I'd prefer to try to find a place that is still stocking the CAA2C.Quote:

how are teh CAAZC PERFORMING?
Got a CAAZC 0502 from Newegg and it hitting a wall at 2.65ghz with an XP120 and Panaflow 120mm. Can hit 2.7ghz but would not go into XP no matter what volt, i gotta get me a w/c for this summer.
Thanks guys!
Sauria- how long ago did you purchase yours? Has anyone purchased one within the last week from ZZF?
TIA,
CJ

Mine is a caa2 from a local shop. Will do 2.750 on stock cooling but apps sometimes don't pull up. Becomes xp stable at 2630 and lower prime and sp2004 stable at 2570 and lower. Mine heating issue has been partially fixed. found out "Cool and Quiet" was limiting my fan. stock cooling now shows 50c and 75c under load. Also read that av8's have misreadings on the temps. Should I get the zalman 7000 hs or the xp-90?
