That's what I'm waiting to hear too, but CCC does stop at 1000 for the base 4890
If RivaTuner can get it up to > 1000 on stock.... that would be some insane performance

Judging by the CCC limits for HD4870 which was 790MHz I would say 1050-1100MHz should be doable on most samples. We all know that most early HD4870 was doing 820-860MHz out of the box with a proper airflow.
I'm looking forward to this card. Personally I might skip it and wait for RV870, but in general it looks like perfect upgrade for someone still ridding older than HD48xx or GF8800 series
Power savings I think - and maybe because the bandwidth is unused
yeah im basically with you. i have a 2900xt, and it does anything just fine, but not really cool uber graphics at 1920x1200. and i dont think i will go for a 5XXX card since it will be dx11 right? and i dont expect any game to look much better on dx11 until summer of 2011 when i could probably get a 6850ish for under 200$ and be much stronger than a 4890 plus with full dx11. please no one tell me how wrong my statement is with dates or models or prices, im just planning for the future.
lol it's being said over and over.. by OBR only. Quote those other people, if you can find it (no, FUD sites don't count).
Instead, I'll take this post. and the fact that the die is bigger as facts, rather than some nVidia fanboy who's apparently gaining popularity for showing some random 3dmark results.
GPUCafe: AMD to Bring 4890 Launch Ahead (Again)?
As far as changes go, I'm going to go ahead and believe what w0mbat said:
Meaning that something had to have changed to get 6% more per clock. Sorry haters, something was changed.Quote:
The 6% is clk-per-clk and not the overall performance.
you guys seen any benchmarks yet?
i've been a bit out of it and what do you know a card just magically shows up on my desk........it's been sitting here gathering dust a bit....maybe i should yank it out and bench a little hey :D
i havent even heard of these lol >> says Radeon HD 4890 on the box :D
time to dust off the old computer hey
With all of this talk about the overclocked versions actually being better, I am beginning to worry. It seems that the greatest point of this card is the extremely high overclockability. However, I will be pretty ticked if the "reference" versions are mediocre, and the good cards require the price premium.
I envy thee.... :p: :yepp:

"Game physics processing capability" :hm:
if he gets a card right now, maybe he got a beta 9.4 driver as well ;)
Neat, where you at perkam? Or you in the US and get a special delivery? OR you shop it :P
