McDonald mcflurry spoon! do i win!
lame.. lol nice pic btw tho i feel as if the color is lacking. might just be me or my monitor. grey day?
try shooting in portrait mode, i find it has the most accuracy when it comes to skin tone.
What 50mm lens is that R0bert? I'm not too familiar with Nikon lenses and primes.
I have a Sigma 50 f/1.4 that I use with my 1D. Love it.
Grey day definitely, no direct sun, behind the clouds, though it was very bright, sometimes, even at f2.8 the camera was telling me it's to bright.
Thanks for the tip ;) And sorry but out of money for some serious prizes :(
That's a 50 F/1.8, but there's a 50 F/1.4 from Nikon too.
Sometime ago I found in my 'equipment' cabinet ( yes, I do have a separate cabinet for photo stuff, that's what happens when whole family are photographers ... ) , an old 50 F/1.8, no autofocus or anything, pure analog, probably it's a teenager and still a good one!
I'm surprised I even got this shot. Hard to take handheld night shots with a prime, had to sit down to take this. The softness that occurs when the lens is wide open doesn't help either, if I had my monopod with me I probably would have gone to f/1.8 or f/2.0 to gain some more center sharpness and not have any blurring (since it's handheld).
Lesson learned: I need to remember my monopod.

man did i have a humbling experience tonight...first time shooting a sport of any kind in over 3 1/2 years. its going to take a little work to get back to my standard quality. here is one from tonight that i particularly like...kind of a fun little shot from the crease:

EXIF is still hanging around in the photo but the hardware was a 1D MKII and 70-200 f/2.8. i picked a hell of a barn and event to get back into shooting sports, but i should have got what i needed for the paper i was shooting for so on the whole it was a good night.
hockey FTW!!!!!
So did they score :p
Good shot. Can you link us to any more of that shoot?

Very nice shots from all of you, I am going to post some too next week I think, as I finally pulled the trigger on a DSLR.
Canon EOS 1000D coming on tuesday probably!
nope, no goal, puck is under the goalie's glove. here is a link to a few more shots at another forum, i really shouldn't have even posted anything, they are quite dissatisfying. you shouldn't have to sign up to see them as they aren't attached but you never know these days

thanks for the link. I was actually able to view the photos. I enjoy hockey a lot, its my favorite sport. Too bad its not big in South Florida. About the only thing to do here is watch the Florida Panthers, but the atmosphere in the arena is not that same as when you see a game at the Bell Centre or Joe Louis Arena. (Montreal or Detriot). Anyhow, thanks a lot for sharing with us. Might have not been your best, but to me they were shot extremely well
Some analog shots, yeah!
Quite old one, from last summer, but I thought I'd upload it here.
Yeah, I know there is some dust etc, but I'm to lazy to clean it
