well xbit had some trouble enabling crossfire in their recent review and finally ati tray tools came to their rescue.:ROTF:

made my Radeon HD 4830 cards work in CrossFireX mode by installing the drivers manually and specifying the path to the inf-file of the first and then second card. Catalyst Control Panel must not be installed because CrossFireX mode is disabled upon its installation, and the necessary tab disappears in the driver’s panel. Therefore I used the handy ATI Tray Tools software (I want to express my thanks to its author here) to enable that technology.
and iirc i have seen other review sites using it for their CF reviews as well so it should work fine.
since the ATT is a bit detailed its takes some time getting used to,but once you are comfortable with it you won't need CCC ever.
Nice you were totally right!!
Instead of using ATT (as it won't run without a hitch on my x64 vista), I'm using Rivatuner now. This really works a treat, and as long as you don't install CCC while installing the graphics drivers, Crossfire is enabled by default (as it is the installation of CCC which turns it off by default). So I guess I won't be able to turn it off in case I want to run folding@home on both cards seperately, but it seems that thats all I have to worry about so I'm happy as can be!
I will vMod my 2 HD4850s this weekend as I am receiving my full coverage waterblocks, this should be heaven! :yepp: Once it is working properly I might flash the Asus top bios, but don't really see the need if you can just manually overclock using Rivatuner..
EDIT: voltmodding done, now I've reached 770Mhz, 3dmark vantage stable, with a Vcore of 'only' 1.26v:

All I did was apply the hardmod, install Catalyst 9.1 without CCC, installed Rivatuner and my system was ready for some pushin... ;) Considering I'm only at 1.26v now, and under water, I should be able to reach 800 and above hopefully. No need to flash the bios whatsoever, which I was quite happy with. Will keep you guys posted...
