Is there gonna be a bios for the M2R to run the Phenom II's or will it need one???
And if it can, how crippled will it be with the 600SB??

it is there, newest beta...
and i think sb600 with phenom II will be easier then sb600 with phenom I.. perhaps you loose 100-200mhz compared to sb750
i will keep the m2r and test with the new phenoms :D
Attention: New 10/2/2008 "Beta" Bios is Bugged
no idea, new component voltage control I think
Thats odd they pulled 5/5/2008 as well as 4/16/2008 Offcial Bios:confused:
They pulled the 10/2/2008 after I reported it bugged to RGone cant understand the reason for the 2 official file though.............Bizarre :brick:
ok will try 01/12/2008 sometime in preparation of phenom II.... big thanx DFI for still supporting this awesome board :D
Hey, Olli:) With the 10/2/2008 "Beta" you could not go past the 1800mhz NB clock speed on this chip. This was actually Posted by a fella on D.F.I Club with the same problem with his 9950 BE so I set out to duplicate the issue and got the same.
Please see if you have any problem going beyond rated NB Frequency on you chip with this new 12/1/2008 "Beta" and report back please.
Campbell;)
ye i'll try out as soon as possible...
12/01/2008 seems to be bugged with regards to the lan ports... i did not have time to check, it was someone on forumdeluxx and he is using vista (like me..)
Flashed to 12/1/2008 "Beta" LAN works fine on XP32 SP3 :)
Also New 12/1/2008 "Beta" Allows the NB Frequency to be changed above spec:up: Well at least they listened about this:)
The Add PWM Control is nothing more then a Enable\Disable Feature for the PWM Section:confused: WTF........Why Bother with stupid :banana::banana::banana: like that as it adds no relevance what so ever to.......Well........Anything:ROTF:
I see our Bios Team is Hot on the Trail for this board yet once again:shakes:.......C'Mon D.F.I ! Wtf ..is up with you guys in the AMD Bios Programming section these days?
lol brother i didnt believe the nb will only run below spec... what else, i wonder, did the nb prob mean the nb multi couldnt be upped? because thats of course impossible with a locked processor like mine.. and i think if lan works under xp it also will work under vista. but whatever i'll try.. think i'll flash now..
lol pwn disable/enable... i hope they disable it by default and i can enable... as a security type of function.. other way round it would be completely nonsense xD why should i disable that by myself in bios, especially as a dfi customer
ok i tested 12/01 beta and no network under vista64. everything else (overclock with nb @ 2,25ghz, raid etc) works. (it was 12/01 beta for which that was reported actually...)
irq is assigned to network adapters, but at first vista startup new pci bridge drivers are installed. then, the network adapters do not show up as network in the hardware manager, but as pci-to-pci bridge and it says "no ressources".
http://www.abload.de/thumb/networkkn15.jpg
but, freeing irq's does not help.
i dont know whats up there. driver reinstall does not help...
compared to earlier bios versions, there are just too many cpu-to-pci bridges... i could try disable some ;)
ok no use the pci bridges are installed again after restart and no network...
Guys, I just set up a new comp for a friend with this MB (m2r), fresh install of xp pro, everything is installed fine but the audio, i cant get any audio out of this MB. Checked bios to make sure it is enabled and it is, installed drivers from cd, tried drivers from site, no luck, downgraded bios, board came with 5/5/08 bios. The specs are 9950 be, corsair dominator ram, 2x2gb, asus 4830, coolmax 700w psu.
i should also add that i currently run another pc with this same motherboard without a problem.
please any info would be helpfull, thanx.
I'm having front audio issues too, although my rear panel audio ports work fine. Ideas on that would be great.
For DDR2 overclocking on 790FX-M2RS (SB600)
I have problems with Gskill DDR2-1000 5-5-5-15. For some reason I can't overclock this memory as good DDR-800.
If set it to 1066 Mhz it will hide options so I can't set it to 5-5-5-15-45 but 5-7-7-20-41 still can't get it to be stable like around 2.25v
If I set it to 800 Mhz I can't increase TRC higher than 26. This memory remains stable if I don't overclock HT higher than 230. It can boot but I can't do any memtest stress at all even though I lower multi for NB, HT, and CPU Nothing higher than 2.8 GHz, 2 GHz on NB and HT.
Should I just get it replace and exactly 1066 memory?
its normal that you cant use certain timings when in 800 or in 1066 mode.
for htt overclocking use 800 mode otherwise your ram will clock too high.
and yes, i think for 1066 you need ram with 1066 spd, or you will have to boot in 800mode, set all timings manually, reboot and switch to 1066...
I flashed to 12/1 bios and I too had that issue with LAN.
Same as Oese...except Im on Vista 32 sp1.
Went back to 3/7/08 cause they pulled alot of bios files.
Bought a Toliman 8750 and seems it wont boot at 1066 with this bios.
Its been a real pain just to get it boot at 800.
Had to pull out reapers and use another set of OCZ gold I just had laying around. Now it boots with reapers but wont run at 1066.
Just for the notice, BIOS from 01/DEC/2008 has been upgraded to official
Thanks. Just found out it was a bad stick. When I tried DDR2-800 from my Intel system that was clock to 1100 Mhz @ 5-5-5-15. So I used that on my AMD system with Phenom with settings 5-5-5-16-25 it was stable unlike the DDR2-1000 @ 1066 with similar timings with Intel system.
I transfer the stick to system with Athlon X2 5000 BE and use 10x250 failed the memtest on 2nd stick. HTT is under 1000 Mhz so it shouldn't be a problem. 1st stick can boot run couple for one hour while 2nd stick didn't boot at all. 5-5-5-15-25 @ 2.2v on both test.
I tried doing that what you said on switching between them for some reason it will change it 5-7-7-20 if my previous was DDR800 5-5-5-15-25
ok so you figured it out ;)
with the ddr1066 mode, the internal phenom registers are limited to a number of possible timings, and with ddr1066 mode these are higher. So nothing unusual there, it simply changes to the lowest possible timing in ddr1066 mode if you switch over from 800... unfortunately no way to get tighter timings in ddr1066 mode as this is kinda hardware (microcode) limited.
Hope you get your system running nicely whatever ;)
@ brother esau: Could you report the LAN port problem with the last (12/01) beta to the DFI bios crew? Most of the people at hwluxx germany do have these problems (vista64 mostly) except one guy who uses vista64 as well and did not encounter it...
Hi, Olli:) See if the 12/01/2008 Official gives same issue please.
It's kind of hard to test the Bios Releases with this 9600 BE (B2) Revision chip , well because it sucks and will not overclock so I leave it at stock.
Anyone that has VISTA 64 bit Please see if the 12/01/2008 Official Bios kills your LAN if that is the case still then it definitely needs to be Fixed A.S.A.P for Upcoming Phenom 2 Release.
Campbell;)
yeh i've tested with 12/01.. that was actually the version that was reported to give that result with vista64...
that problem occurs for everyone at forumdeluxx with vista but interestingly except 1 guy... but we were'nt able to figure it out^^
edit: my fault, i didnt test official. was not out a few days ago..
but already someone at forumdeluxx tested it with vista 32bit and same problem..
edit 2: flashed the official version and did long cmos clear, no use.. same thing.
will try brand new install tomorrow on a spare hd...
