There are about 8 tests, and when they're all done, the program starts all over again, with test 1.

Is there a utility available that will read the true speed that the pci-e bus is running at? ie not just what bios thinks it is.
SetFSB reads and can set PCie frequency..
Im been a litle OFF from the tread, but....
Wish, in your opinion, is the best Bios for Q6600 G0?

IMO...Unless your upgrading CPU...then leave it!...the only difference it could make is making your puter not boot lol...i've tried the latest and that's what happend to me...lucky i had a spare stick of Geil as had to mix the ram for it to boot...once i got it going i had a play for a bit found no difference o/c wise and then flashed back to get my mem back to normal.:eek:

I left the pc off all day after discovering the bluescreen upon waking up. :down:
So, I get home and turn it back on to restore what was my stable OC. BAM! blue screen. :shrug: Ok, let me turn clocks down a bit. I drop to 3.6. Starts loading and BAM! Blue screen. Hmm, ok. I drop everything to stock, with the mem at 667. Windows loads, I hop online to grab the newest version of memtest. Guess what? Yes, you're right. BAM! Blue screen. :down: :bsod:
They were different all 3 times.
I pop out the ballistix and put back in my trusty old corsair value ram (CVR), and guess what. Windows loads no problem. I got the newest memtest now, and am gonna test the ballistix. However, since the CVR has let me into windows, I'm not holding much hope out for the ballistix right now. :mad:
Just got my board and everything worked fine right from the get go. My board has the 0806 BIOS; Should I update my bios to the latest one before I start to overclock?

I am running a G0 q6600 under water at 3.6ghz with max load of 60C at 23C ambient - ROCK solid, 8 hours P95 stable.
I'm trying to push it to 3.8, but cannot seem to do it. Here are my settings at 3.6ghz:

Any advice on what to change to put me in the ballpark of a 3.8?
The settings with arrows in front, I have no idea what they do, so I don't know if changing them (and change them to what?) would improve my stability.
I boot at 3.8, and can run P95 for about 5 minutes with my max. temps at 63C, and then I BSOD. ANy help would be much appreciated.
Do not leave voltages on auto if you're overclocking. What vcore do you need for 3.6Ghz prime stable?

I'm just guessing your vcore, if you know the value put that in BIOS and see if it's prime stable at 3.8Ghz. You also may want to try raising CPU GTL, these values have a great role in overclocking quads.Code:vCore 1.45v

Yeah, I skimmed this forum for a bit, and changed some settings as soon as I posted that message. I 've been stable for about 15 minutes priming at 3.8ghz.... NUTS!!!. As for the settings you gave me, I'll try those, and post what I'm using now IF I crash any time soon, but I'm deffinately going in the right dirrection. For 3.6ghz I use 1.45V:up:
Yeah, crashed after 20 minutes. So I went into bios, increased VCORE, and put PLL Voltage at 1.60 and crashed in like 4 minutes, so I went into the bios and LOWERED my volts (what do you think of everyday usage around this mark?) Here are my settings now, and I"m priming. what do you think?
EDIT: Multi is at 9x and FSB is at 423, so I'm pushing 3.807 ghz.
You should take in consideration vdrop/vdroop. Probably you have less in idle/load if you haven't done the pencil mod. Take a look in CPU-Z and you'll see. If it's stable at 3.8Ghz with 1.45v bios it's a pretty good chip. What batch?
If priming fails at 3.8Ghz@1.45v try playing with the other values. If raising them doesn't help, increase vcore a bit.
edit: Try vFSB 1.5v, vPLL 1.7v, CPU GTL 0.61%.
edit2: vcore is pretty high up there, raise it in small steps from 1.45v
FYI: BIOS 1004 and 1006 have almost no vdrop/vdroop, so no pencil mod nesasary if you use the newer bios's.

Yeah, Vdroop is unnecessary, you just enable Load Line Calibration and you're good.
Buddy, I'm using 1.45v for 3.6ghz.
I'm at 1.56V for 3.8ghz, and both these voltages are from the bios.
Now, I heard all over the web that V PLL should never be touched..... What does it do, exactly?
Anybody knows what it does, exactly? lol. I've spent an hour or so trying to dig it up on google.
OH, Right now, I tightened my 3.6ghz oc timings by quite a bit, and am priming. I'll give 3.8 another stab once I get home.
What is the max. voltage you guys would use on a 24/7 basis? I know it's a common question, but most of the time the answer is 1.4V, and considering that intel itself recommends between 1.2 and 1.5v, 1.4 is definitely safe.
I'm also using 1006, but my board is pencil modded and I can't say anything about vdrop.
I messed up values up there, sorry, try max for vFSB. Leave vPLL on 1.50v. I also know that increasing vPLL helps breaking FSB walls.
You could try playing with CPU GTL, I've read that it could help overclocking quads.
has anyone had better o/c results with Q6600 G0 on a newer bios than 0603?
also what ram/fsb rsults have you gotten with 400 strap to n/b which 0603 lacks i believe, correct me if im wrong.
also in regards to 1006 bios n/b voltage options is there 1.5v or still 1.55v?
