I'm using the new beta bios on my P5B-Deluxe v1.03gQuote:

I am not sure how these scores stack up against other P965 & E6600 combos :) keeping in mind I am using my old backup vga card.

is running the vNB @ 1.6 - 1.65 risky ?
Im getting no post at all, the pc is on but no post and no signal on the monitor after running all the tests and SP2004 for over 4 hours....
Check this thread:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...62#post1747362
I will appreciate any feedback.
It is if it runs too hot. On p5b, you should be able to run pretty high fsb without maxing out NB. I am running 1.65 under crunching load 24/7 for over 3 weeks, but room is cool and I have a fan blowing right at nb.Quote:

2x seagate sata2 320gig
Now I'm testing for system stability with prime95
Which torture test do you guys use?
small ffts, in-place lare ffts or blend?
Thanks
From what I've read, blend seems to be the best option for Dual Core cpus. Having said that, if you are patient enough, run all three for 8 hours each.
Additionally, with dual core cpus you need to stress both cores, so you either need 2 instances of Prime95 running simultaneously or just use Orthos - this runs 2 instances of Prime95 from the same application.
To find the limits of your cpu, use small ffts as they fit in cache mem and aren't as dependent on ram/nb settings. When your satisfied, run large ffts to stabilize the rest.
The length of time is up to you as prime will stress your hardware far more than you are ever likely to. I have systems that failed prime after an hour or so that I chose not to "stabilize" by increasing voltage/temps and have been running both cores 100% loaded 24/7 for weeks producing double-checked crunching results without a single error. So, for me that's stable enough.
EDIT: fixed typos

Whats the highest stable overclock, I mean stable as in running benchies and not dual primming for ages... anyone has got with 4mb cache Conroes & Asus P5B mobos...?
I don't know how everyone is getting 1:1 ratio on memory. Got the p5b delux, corsair xms2 6400 c4 memory, setting in bios to manual, 4 4 4 12, but cpuid still says it's 2:3 ration...
yes...i had that problem too, and VGA helped. However, I also noticed that rebooting (pressing the hard reset) also did the trickQuote:

But one thing im stuck on.
followed instructions for AHCI installation {link above}. under the device manager settings it does indeed show two hard drives labeled as
Disk drives
-WDC WD1500AHFD-00RAR1
-WDC WD1500AHFD-00RAR1
Under the device manager it also shows controllers as
IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
-Intel(R) ICH8R/DO/DH SATA AHCI Controller
-Primary IDE Channel
-Secondary IDE Channel
-Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
Now my problem. Under My Computer it does not show or reflect that i have two Hard drives.
It only shows one hard drive as
(C: ) Local Disk 139GB
Why is it not showing my second hard drive, in the past usually after a fresh install it would show the secondary hard drive and if you go to open it it asked you to format then your good to go. Here i dont see anything to show my missing (D: ) Local Disk.
Can somebody please help me get this sorted out. Id like to start xfering my important files to my secondary Hard drive for storage.
Well im sitting comfortabley at 3510Mhz with my E6600 w/ 1.5125V Bios. Its not prime stable at this until like 3450's maybe a little less but passes benches and most importantly it can take my 3D Renderings very well without an issue.Quote:

Running memtest and after 2 minutes the system restarted and was continuesly try to reboot. (thought I smiled something strange:confused: ). Cut the power and started it again 10 minutes later, but still no go. System isn't continuesly restarting but starts but no boot, only fans keep turning. Took memory sticks out and tried it. Same problem; system starts but still no boot (even no beeps).
Gonna RMA this, but what is damaged??????
I've got noone where I can test for instance my mem or cpu.
Is 1:1 ratio supposed to be better? If so, in what way?Quote:
