i'm looking at buying one of these boards... how is it?
can i expect a 400~450mhz fsb?
iluvintel, why are you switching to the DP6?

MSI board has 1.58v max Vcore and only 4 phase cpu power circuitry. Can't seem to find any mods either in XS.org's forums. :(Quote:

Don't tell anybody but I already have a P5B Del on the way. :sofa:Quote:

I'm staying with mine. Other than it won't do a restart from windows it's been solid as a rock. 370 fsb on an e6700 and 380 on an e6600 but both chips are topping out before the mobo. Downward multipliers would be nice though.
Oh and first post. Howdy!

Infact most of the overclocking walls I have run into with Conroe is it's extreme heat output when overclocked, these chips are the hottest I have ever used. I can not run any higher, not becouse of my mobo but cpu temps.
I think one is way better off using a tight board with lower clocks and volts rather than a loose board with high clocks which tend to need more volts.
However if you are looking for a mobo that will break records, this board is not for you, lol.
BTW, does anyone know if Speedfan works on this board yet:confused:
The bios and its subsequent betas was bugging the crap out of me...:(Quote:

MSI has feeble attempt with these 2 beta bios has been nice, but in the end its just not cutting it.
Using the ASUS has some small drawbacks, mainly its lesser power clock for clock, but it more than makes up for it with the high FSB that matched with a budget CPU (6400) and high OCing RAM can work a LOT better than the MSI.
The choice here is pretty obvious for a E6400:
1) MSI board - 375FSB X 8multi = 3Ghz
2) Asus board - 500FSB X 8-7-6 = Whatever the CPU tops out at?
Option 2 is MUCH better especially when the board boots reliably.
Yeah, i975X boards are not very good for E6400 and for sure for E6300 overclocking... but with E6600 it's a very good choice.... BUT...
That MSI has SEVERE memory problems... I got around 5*2 sticks here, different types of memory... none of them run good on the MSI 975X PE... and I mean freqs around 700MHz are a problem... same memory, same hardware.... on Gigabyte DS3 - different story...
double post :(

tried with A-DATA DDR667/800 cl5 (both run 900MHz/5-5-5-15 on DS3), one set 2x512MB Corsair DDR2-675 cl4 (runs perfect 960MHz 4-5-4-10 on DS3), one set 2x1GB Patriot DDR2-667 cl5 (run 880MHz/5-5-5-15 on DS3)..... none of them run stable 750MHz+ on the MSI... no matter what voltage and/or timings... :rolleyes:Quote:

"solid as a rock" and "won't restart" is quite contradictory.... :p:Quote:

I tried to set this board up over the last couple of days and now I'm giving up on it. I'm gonna stick with my P5W DH until something more stable & overclocking friendly comes out. This board did allow me to set less cpu voltage than the P5W DH while overclocking but the restarts & cold boot are far too annoying for me.(It doesn't random restart while in windows, it won't restart after setting bios) I've concluded I may have a weaker 6600 or my G. Skill may be too picky. IN anycase its been over a week since I've gamed and I'm just ready to get back to gaming. My max oc with the asus was 3.2ghz and required 1.5vcore to be set in bios for an effect 1.46-1.48vcore under load. This MSI board seems to have some potential and is a lot less complicated than the asus but the bios needs alot of work for stability. I tried the 700, 714 & 715. Gonna sell the board while it still has value and wait for something from dfi, or better bios for the P5W DH. SLI did work on this board by the way & I had it up to 389 FSB for an effective 3.5 ghz with 1.58vcore set in bios. I primed @ 378 FSB 1.55vcore set in bios for an effective 1.51vcore under orthos. This is 200mhz faster than what I got with the P5W DH. Pretty decent clocking board for E6600 owners, but not if you have a bum chip like mine since there's only 1.58vcore available. The restarts and cold boots are just too much for me to put up with right now.
wow, check out these clocks

Is it only me or is the cpu-id namestring really weird? Core 2 Extream?
English isn't the first language of the program's author(s) so it shouldn't be too surprising that there might be the odd slip or two in spelling :)Quote:

Great just as I've finished boxing the thing up, taking pics, and preparing to put it on ebay:rolleyes:Quote:
