Interesting. I stand corrected, my mistake. Chuck @ TRP (and abit) flashed the beta supplied by abitNL at Hexus multiple times and couldn't get his E8600 to boot. Worked fine in both a P5QE and I45. Well, glad someone got it working. All hope isn't lost OC4/3!
I'm about to upgrade my CPU from a E4300 to a Q9550. Was just wondering if anyone can PM some stable OC'ing specs to try @ speeds 3.8GHz! I'm getting the Xigmatek HS as well.
Hopefully this board isn't that dead yet, I was hoping to get alot more out if it. Just can't seem to part with Abit even though they will be parting with us soon.

Hi, this was my settings when I was at 3.8GHz:
Vcore: 1.32V
MCH:1.37V
CPU VTT: 1.13V
ICH: 1.12V
DDR2: 1.95V (4-4-4-12 1:1)
ICHIO: 1.70V
DDR2 REF: +2%
CPU GTLREF 1&3 0&2: 63%
I have done the Vdroop mod and the motherboard is fully watercooled and the processor too.
With BIOS 17 seems to be the best for that processor, temp are reported correctly as well.
With a good cooling you can reach 4Ghz without too much trouble, this motherboard is still awesome.
Enjoy your overclocking!
Thanks for posting that powerfull, I think in my case, my RAM might be my limiting factor. I know I have good RAM, but am wondering if I should go with Corsair 8500C5DF set from newegg
I was thinking of going watercooling, but seems I should just get my arse on it & do it. Now to find that vdroop mod...
This is quite a long post, can anyone give a link to stuff about that vdrop mod? I have set mine at 1.43 in bios and CPUZ shows 1.35, would like to get that minimized a bit. And I have applied real thermal paste so my warrenty is gone anyway...
For those looking for the Vdroop mod:

I didn't do the Vcore mod only needed for extreme overcloker.
With the Vdroop mod, Vcore is very stable max is +/-0.01V variation.
Hello everyone!
I'd like to ask if I can run E8500 (E0 and C0) on my PRO version (the newest BIOS).
Does this mainboard handle Xeon E3120? Anyone?
I see a lot of posts and have a lot of questions, searching isn't helping can anyone just put up a list of processor this board actually works well with/ New Bios support?
can somebody give me a working dowbnload link for the latest abit uguru application?
please
I upgrade my IP35 Pro to 4x2GB of memory. And I'm struggling big time here.
I'm trying to use 4 sticks of Patriot Viper DDR2-1000. But I had only been running my original 2 sticks at 900MHz, since that was all I needed with my 8.5x450 Q9550 overclock.
Now with with 4 sticks it seems the most I can accomplish is 848MHz.
I tried increasing the RAM voltage to 2.3.
I tried increase the MCH to 1.56, with 1.09 ICH and 1.60 ICHIO.
I tried losening the timings to 5-6-6-18.
Tried setting the tRFC up to 56.
Looked at the other memory timings from MEMSET and applied those in the BIOS too.
Lowered my FSB and increased the memory multiplier to 1.25 while I was doing these tests and used MemTest.
Is there anything else I can try to get my 4 sticks of 1000MHz memory to at least work at 900MHz with this board?
you are tasking the board a lot with 4 x 2gb sticks with a high overclock...stick with 1:1 memory ratio; increase your ICHIO and MCH...maybe the maximum for a short time to see if that will get you over the hump.
any time you load the board up with max memory, you are stressing the limits of the MCH and CPU...some boards can handle it; i don't think the Pro is THAT capable...maybe it would do better with 4 x 1gb sticks.
The BIOS 17 seemed okay with my Q9550 E0 chip. Though I only used it about an hour while I was troubleshooting another issue.
I normally use BIOS 18 beta because it says "1. Support E0 Stepping." Though it doesn't seem to be on Abit's FTP server, but I found it here.

The reason I asked is that I will be getting an EO stepping Q9550 soon and was thinking of giving this Abit board and E8400 to my son to upgarde his gaming rig.Looking at the Gigabyte P45-UD3P for the Quad.
Getting a Q9550 tomorrow, so I tried updating my bios from 16 to 17. What a pain in the arse!
Had no issues doing it on my bro's IP35-E a while ago using an USB floppy. But to do it on the Pro, I had to unplug all USB devices besides the USB floppy, plug in a ps/2 keyboard and enable the bios setting of USB Storage Function to get the USB floppy recognized. I spent over an hour trying different setting combination til I finally got it working.
But it's done now. Whew!
Rebels Haven posted some tests of bios 17 and 18 with a EO stepping wolfdale. says some bios setting are missing with 17.
