ah shoot... figures I've never had good luck OCing lol, my processor refuses to go over 240 FSB, my X850 XT wouldn't do more than a 20 mhz stable oc... eeeeeepQuote:

does anyone in here have an idea if the gpu and memory location on the board of the x1800 and 7800 are the same? cause i bought a water block for my x1800 xl. i know the gpu would fit for sure but dont know about the memory. this block cools the gpu and ram at the same time :) dont wanna risk opening it and get charge for a restock fee if it doesn't fit.
I've got the 5.11s and i dont know how to take off the cooler and honestly don't feel very comfortable with attempting it (installing my zalman CPU fan game me nightmares lol ;)... im going to try reinstalling the drivers... wish me luckQuote:

well i would try that... except if i raise the mem speed a mere 5 mhz it instantly crashes and rebootsQuote:

I thought it might be the PSU. But i see u have the same as me :DQuote:

Have u tried upping the voltage a little on ur GPU? I find upping volts on GPU aid in OC'ing ram. Also, don't use ATiTool artifact scanning, it not accurate.
yeah, I've set it to 2.1 volts on the ram, the GPU can hit 625... but the second i set the ram .5mhz higher and hit apply it instantly rebootsQuote:

still the same... ATI must of slapped some ghetto RAM on this card because it just wont go past 495 (Stock speed)Quote:

Hopefully the next one is better :upset:Quote:

Hey guys,
I was just wondering what idle temps u guys are getting on ur XL?
Could u plz post ur average idle temp + room temp...just for reference.
Plz include what cooling u are using.
Mine:
Idle: 52c
Room temp: 30c (i know is pretty hot. I'm in South AfricA) :flame:
Cooler: Zalman FT VF 700cu
Thanx
Well my card will not go more then 610-648. @ 1.150-1.987.
Raising mem volt wont help 660 = no go. And rasing V-gpu douse not work eighter 620 = nog go @ 1.175. And this one is also bugged @ 1.25v :(
And i have 2.0 ns ram so that would be te problem i think. My last cars ( With 1.4 ) did 800 :\ So its a X1800 XT for me i had enough of these cards :P
yeah i dont know whats up with it... but i do know it should be able to handle 500Mhz (1ghz) and it cant, it just can not go past the stock 495... though the card is buggy with some other aspects so ill have no trouble RMAing it(thank god).Quote:

From what I read the XL does a very good job with benchmarking. Is it also that good when it comes to game performance? I can still give my GT back and get a XL instead, so I'd like to know if its worth it. Thanks.
Well, i rate it better than the GT. Can u GT get 9000+ in 05?Quote:

Tbh I don't need a good 3d Mark score. What I want is to play games wth it :)
From what I've seen the GT performs better than a XL in most games with stock speeds. Then again the XL overclockes like crazy whereas the GT doesn't oc that good. I haven't found any benchmarks with overclocked XLs, so I wonder if its only good for benching or also for gaming.
From what I read so far the XL has very high minimum fps on most games whereas the GT has very little minimum fps, which might explain why gaming with a XL feels "smoother".
Well there u have it! Better gaming with no loss in Image Quality.Quote:

Some guys had a 7800GTX 256 and they prefered the XL over the GTX.
Translation: XL w/ XT Cooler would be nice :D :DQuote:
