Firstly Saaya... can I say thanks for the fantastic support and feedback you are giving on this thread... it genuninely is very useful and helpful, and makes me pleased I went and bought a Foxconn for the first time :up:

Secondly... im sure you will share my relief, that I got my board working again!!! You were right Saaya, a pin had been bent by the looks of it. Couldnt see it when it was in the case, and even when it was outside the case it took alot of staring blankly at the CPU socket to spot it.

Anyhow, with a small pin & magnifine glass I managed to bend it back into position and the board works fine. Ive changed CPU's soooo many times over the last few years and never done that... i guess its just a little reminder to myself be careful ;)!

Well, since I got it working, I stuck the 920 back in, and followed some of your tips in recent posts, and now have it prime stable at 4.1ghz - and the 21 multi on P06 works great btw!

Did you confirm by checking in BIOS the tab Board Information? Or whatever it's called, I thought I flashed P06 but it still had P03, tried it 2 times after and still P03 untill I renamed the BIOS file into something really easy, copied to the flash disk and tried it again and that worked;)

Yup checked it an it says PO6 in bios and in CPU-Z :confused:
i only see : TURBO MODE ( disabled/ enabled) ???
I must say , once i had the (always on) option in one of the previous biosses, cant realy tell wich one it was, but the option was there... now it's gon :shakes:

Ok, so I just unboxed mine that I received today from Newegg. I have a few opening comments on just the packaging and what not.

The good:

1 - Beautiful package.
2 - Well packed, everything is neat and packed well enough no damage should occur.
3 - Plenty of accessories (except a few, see below).
4 - Very thick manual and nice quick start guide.
5 - The board looks gorgeous, breathtaking.
6 - Water block is heavy all copper, awesome.

The Bad or Hmmmms:

1 - Only comes with a dual SLI connector, no triple SLI connector in the box. I only mention this since my EVGA board did come with it and one of the benefits of this board is the quad PCIe slots.
2 - There are 5 SATA cables and only one SAS cable, just seems like you forgot two. The board has 6 SATA connectors, so I do not understand why only 5 and it has 2 SAS connectors, why only one. Either include them all or none, that's all I am saying.

Overall, this is just a friggin awesome board.

So I got the Blood Rage to replace my EVGA and the bios naming convention is somewhat different, can someone tell me what the 3 I have listed below are in the Bloodrage? Also, did I get the rest correct?

what other voltage i should adjust other than vcore in order to get cpu stable?? does the pll etc matter? also any other setting i should know that need tweak. it seem the cpu pass prime95 but can never pass intel burn test. anyone try the intelburn test yet?

Whats the best bios for this board? I am running P06 and am having some trouble getting my Kingston HyperX DDR3-2000 kit stable at their rated speeds. I am coming from the EvGA board and they ran fine at ddr3-2000 so I know they can do it. Thanks.

thats probably around 1.35v real, so not really that much... and your cpu seems to need more vtt, its an older c0 right?

I use the PO6

theres cpu turbo and sytem turbo. sytem turbo enables the overclocking options, cpu turbo should have enabled disabled and always on.
maybe the option was removed by accident in p06? i actually didnt check, ill check tomorrow!

for those of you having problems flashing the bios, make sure you set the bios jumper to select either rom1 or rom2. otherwise you might flash rom2 while using rom1, which explains while after a sucessful flash you still dont see the bios you flashed :D

yeah 1366 lga pins seem to be more sensitive than 775, glad you could find the bent bin and set it straight again!

1- tri sli connector... well only very few people use it, and people might use different slot combinations since there are 4 slots... so we didnt want to spam everybody with tri sli connectors... but we should have included a long flexible sli bridge so people can setup tri sli if they wish to by using 1 long and 2 short bridges... thats true.

2- all sata and sas hdds i bought/got at work came with a cable... so again we didnt want to spam everybody with loads of things they dont use... we werent 100% sure if somebody maybe buys a whitebox sas or sata drive, or some vendor decides to sell them without a cable, thats why we included one sas and a couple sata cables.

i dont know about you guys, but i have a pile of cables from boards and cards that i never used and probably never will use... most people i know have a box full of those svideo, vga to dvi, usb and firewire slot frames, sli and xfire bridges in all lengths, shapes, colors and brands, floppy cables, pata cables, sata cables, molex to sata power cables, molex to vga power cables...

i just thought cutting it down a bit would reduce costs of the bundle a bit to make the board cheaper or have some other feature implemented on the board, and i dont want to sound like a hippie, but i really dont like the idea of contributing to stockpiles of plastic that never gets used and sooner or later gets burned... all to make a mainboard bundle look a little more complete...

if you really need more cables or connectors you can get them on ebay for 2$ or let me know and i can ship you a set. and we can change that in future boards, actually let me go and start a poll on how many connectors you want/need bundled with the board in the foxconn qf suggestion box section here on xs :D

there isnt really a qpi pll voltage, gigabyte called it that but its only referred to as vcca IOH 1.1v in the intel docs, so thats what we called it. it does help with high qpi/bclocks, but i dont think it actually is the qpi/bclock pll voltage.

ICH vcore is called ICH Core in BR, thats the sb voltage, and IOH/ICH I/O is called IOH VCCA 1.5v on BR i think.
IOH and ICH are connected via the DMI bus, which is essentially a 4x pciE 1.1 link, and that uses 1.5v.

Thanks for the response Saaya. As far as the cables go, it's just an observation and not a really a complaint. I have plenty of SATA cables around, so that is never a big deal. Since I usually get OEM drives to save a few dollars they do not come with the cables. So really, it is just knowing that it doesn't come with it that would really help. I don't know of any MB manufacturer that actually lists the parts inside on the box, maybe you could do that.

As far as the voltage names and what not, I will give them a try and see what I can do. I did find a peculiar issue, I was having stutter or slow down on response time from the computer, meaning if I was dragging the mouse from right to left it would pause and then go several times. I traced the issue back to a program called overclocking.exe. I believe this is part of the Aegis panel and once I ended that particular process, everything was good to go, just something for the techs to look at.

Not for the million dollar question, where/when can I get the VFD panel?

P06 yeah.

However I discovered that with Turbo Boost on that Vcore is different than when it's off:p: Although Im pretty damn sure having Vdroop compensation did made quite a significant difference in Vcore read by CPU-Z, Turbo Mode does a little job there as well;)

I kindly played with IOH and IOH VCCA Voltages however I think not that much, set IOH Core to 1.25 and IOH VCCA (1.1) to 1.25 or so).

I might try that, although 12x Uncore gave issues too. However just at the end of testing and giving up I discovered Turbo Boost gave another Vcore boost, so I might have undervolted my CPU back then while testing with the 12x multi:ROTF:

Yes, went up to 9-9-9-20-2T, 6x multi, resulted in a C1 error.

I dont know what old is, but the batch is 3841A522, which seems to mean week 41. It's a C0/C1 stepping according to CPU-Z and Core Temp reads it as an ES:p:

But yeah, upto +300mV max VTT.

Could you eventually give a little guideline for a 210 to 215Mhz Blck regarding Voltages? For 24/7 usage though, although I know you cant guarantee anything but I do not plan to RMA my CPU every month:p:

There are a couple things first. There are two versions of the standard EVGA x58 board, same board, the only difference is that one comes with a two year warranty and is missing a few accessories, while the other has a lifetime warranty. So that will be the first thing to decide on. Now for the differences between the EVGA and the BR and there are a lot:

What the BR has that the EVGA does not:

1 - Included cooling options for passive to LN2.
2 - Two SAS ports that will also work as SATA ports.
3 - 4 PCIe slots that operate as 2 at x16, 3 at x16x8x8 and 4 at 8x8x8x8. The first two are the same as the EVGA board.
4 - The BR will except a 775 cooler mount.
5 - Separate audio card vs. built in.
6 - In theory it should be a better overclocking board base on the components. Whether this is true or not is debatable and probably lies more on the chip than the board.
7 - Optionnal VFD, which is friggin cool.

What EVGA has the the BR does not:

1- Probably one of the most important, Shamino is helping design the boards and bios. If you do not know him, he holds a bunch of overclocking records and may be considered the best, although that is always debatable too.
2 - 6 memory slots
3 - 3 x16 slots that are spaced equally to make it easier to run tri sli.
4 - I personally found their bios easier to use and navigate when overclocking, however if I had started with the BR I might feel the opposite.
5 - You can turn off EIST and turbo still works.
6 - Their vdroop disable works very, very good, I mean almost no fluctuation.

Mainly it seems to me based on what I have read on these forums like the EVGA bios has more support. This is always debatable, because it should be about quality, not quanity. To me the BR has more features, better cooling and just looks wicked. It also costs more, now granted if you do not want the cooling options or the SAS ports then the new GTI may be better for you, but until that actually gets released you are looking at anywhere from $20 to $70 between the two boards. If I was going with EVGA, I would just do the cheaper with only 2 years warranty. With the BR it isn't so simple since I water cool and I like having the SAS ports, you may not need these and therefore you could save by going with the GTI.

There are a lot more that you could talk about as far as the differences go and a lot will have to do with opinion.

One last thing, I had the EVGA for 2 months before getting the BR and as long as I can overclock it the same I will not be going back to the EVGA board. Just my personal preference.
