i will mount board watercooling and upgrade to 700w tagan 2-Force II tomorrow :D hope that will help in overall system strength..
@ pershoot: crazy settings whatever..

Remember to set the Tagan to single rail.

full watercooling and tagan with silent mod
Oh cool, how are pwm temps now?
pwm temps are 38°C idle and 55°C load at 3ghz 1,3v..
nb is at 41-45ish.. :D
Olli, could I get the Heat pipe assembly from you brother????
oh campbell i'm sorry... i think i want to keep it.. never know what happens, right?
whats up with yours? no possibility to get one from the dfi support??
with heatpipe and fan nb and pwms were at around 56°C..
especially with the nb 10°C lower i have a much better feeling..
Great, so pwm temps do not get higher. My board has serious temperature sensore issues or something else causing 20°C higher temps than in any 790GX board i tested, so it ain't worth the update anymore.
Received 790GX JR today. This are the temps in a Q-Pack2 case with an stock BE cooler and no extra fan on the pwm area.
http://www.abload.de/thumb/cnqp8e.jpghttp://www.abload.de/thumb/prime95-20minpva.jpg
Idle(CnQ): 36°C/61°C
Prime95(20mins): 58°C/70°C
DFI does not seem to have a problem with those high pwm temps.
Question: .....Does anyone have a issue on this board running Cool & Quiet on the B2 Revision of Phenom? Seems that no matter what Bios I have installed Cool & Quiet will Not work on my 9600 BE Phenom Chip!
I had the issue with the 790FX-M2R with the digital pwm's. At around 3.1GHz/1.45V the temps increased about 7°C at once.
I posted a comparison some time ago on ocxtreme.
The two screenshot I posted yesterday where done on the DFI JR 790GX with analogue 4+1 pwm's.Quote:
For comparison temperature testing results GBT790GX vs. Sapphire790FX
http://www.abload.de/thumb/t-14756pp.pnghttp://www.abload.de/thumb/t-14755cn.png
Sapphire 790FX: 1.475V 3.1GHz 62°C 1.6GHz 48°C - dT/dF 14°/1.5GHz
Gigabyte 790GX: 1.475V 3.1GHz 39°C 1.6GHz 34°C - dT/dF 5°/1.5GHz
http://www.abload.de/thumb/t-14505q2.pnghttp://www.abload.de/thumb/t-1450dzc.png
Sapphire 790FX: 1.45V 3.1GHz 60°C 1.6GHz 47°C - dT/dF 13°/1.5GHz
Gigabyte 790GX: 1.45V 3.1GHz 39°C 1.6GHz 34°C - dT/dF 5°/1.5GHz
Now my RD790 can't even reach 2.8GHz with 1.45V ... and occasionally BSoD / reboot running at 2.6GHz
I guess I have to RMA it :(
790GX DK JR is available in Hong Kong too
But I heard they are switching dealer so I better stay away from getting one until the warranty issue settle down
Hey ppl!
I dared to make the invest in two samsung disks for raid0, and i'm quite surprised: everything runs without problems at the first try! Using the SB600 controller, what makes me quite happy.
Now I did a few performance tests, and i get something in between 140 and 180mb/s throughput, dependent on what bench i use... But whatever, now i get that 5.9 vista rating in the end :D
My question: I use a 128kb stripe size right now. Do you think thats too high? I dont have a possibility to rebuild with 64kbn stripesize without saving all my data back on another disk and copy it to the new raid again afterwards, right?
What stripesize do you use??
heres the hdtach chart :D

ok did switch to 64kb now... reinstall...
better ;)

without cool and quiet (pic is with cnq) its even 5mb/s faster in average :D
Hi people,
I'm new here, and I found this forum/post because of my DFI LanParty UT 790FX-M2R. I have it and a Phenom 9850BE, and I can't get the CPU clock ratio to work  But I've read here that one of the BIOS updates apparently solves that. But the BIOS update dates from 04/2008. My BIOS dates from 05/2008 (already bought that way). Should I make a BIOS update anyway?
Thanks!
I just subscribed to enquire about a RAID issue on 790FXB-M2RS (seems that was not the only one), but i had just solve it this morning :
in the case where HDDs are not recognised in the RAID menu (ctrl+f, and not F4 as mentionned in the manual), check plugging of sata cable : seems that ports 5/6 are suspicious. All is ok on port 1 and 3. The only trouble is the physical design of the ports on mainboard : was not easy to plug elsewhere than 5/6 in my NZXT apollo case.
With that issue, i had no opportunity to focus on another issue, my ddr2-8500 is running at 667mhz, and i do not find where to configure ddr frequency in the bios (im a noob on AM2+ socket, was not so complex with my old socket A :p)
"NEW" 10/02/2008 BETA Bios for D.F.I LP UT 790FX-M2R:)http://www.dfi.com/portal/CM/cmprodu...rue&itemId=533
My board is currently away for RMA...but I'll test the beta as soon as possible.
great, I'll download it as soon as I can get in their site.
what's new?
-edit-
got it
support for 45nm and am3 cpus :D just what I wanted!
AFAIK they included the new AGESA Code to support the Deneb based CPUs.
Edit: Too late. I should read the post instead of the mail
Will that also allow support for ddr3 or is that limited by hardware?
it's limited by hardware, they're not pin compatible
