some shops in france claimed to have all conroe model comming tomorrow afternoon, it seems to be box, and concur with some other informations.

but i'm pretty sure it will be very limited quantities per shop

sorry but the reason for tray cpus (OEM) is that they are cheaper. Reason they are cheaper as they come in certain quantities...you can ask for just 1 tray (I believe)...so to pay the same price for a tray cpu as you would for a box cpu is insane...

SHOPBLT's price for X6800 has gone up. This is an indication to me they may have trouble getting the necessary quanity to fulfill pre-orders. But we have to wait and see if those pre order return to 0 on the 4th. "grabs some popcorn and waits"

This is such a joke. :rolleyes:

Never do I remember such crap arising with new releases of AMD procs. Yet even with something as inconsequential as the Cedar Mill, Intel failed to deliver on time. Its now nearing a week after the embargo was lifted on the X6800 and they're still nowhere to be found. As far as I'm concerned its nothing more than a paper launch, which I pretty much should have expected.

Preorders, stores exploiting OEM sales permits, pushing customers around, all quite a sorry state. Intel should have shipped in quantities large enough to satisfy the demand, and should not have announced anything until then.

I would rather a few of us get to have them early and them be in lower availability then for Intel to wait a few more weeks and make us all wait to get one with higher availability. All of this should of been expected at launch. I preached this in i don't know how many threads at hardforum. Availability was predicted to be low at launch and Intel has massive OEM pre-orders to fill in August and that is where most of Core 2 Duo is being dedicated. Next week we should hopefully start to see a few more showing up in stock at places. Ither way i could care less cause i'll have an E6300 later today and i only paid $199 :D.

It IS a paper launch. It will be at least 7 more weeks (starting on July 27, 2006) before we see regular flow in the retail segment. Patience is a virtue...I wouldn't be press right now. You see, the retailers already know this...this is why you see the gouging.
I wouldn't buy right now until the price is on par.

Expecting everyone to be able to get something new a few days after the paper launch is a little unrealistic don’t you think? Retail box cpus aren’t even supposed to be avail for another week. :nono:

Honestly, in all do respect I understand what you are saying. But, I also believe that if you are going to announce a new product to the market (something as popular as C2D) it should be available at time of press release.

Actually, if you look at ECH's link it says that Core 2 Extremes are to be "available immediately." Clearly they intended them to be, especially with certain online stores making such a ruckus over it, but obviously someone dropped the ball.

Every time there's a new AMD release, there isn't much hype over it, and you can point your browser to Newegg, ZZF or what have you and pick one up for very close to MSRP, no ifs ands or buts. Remember clearly doing this myself at A64's launch.

Anyways, there's nothing I can do about it so why bother yelling.

Yea, that part "available immediately" is a flat out lie. They simply don't have the fabs producing the waffer count needed to met demand. I am sure they increased production by now but it's a little to late. We will have to wait until they are manufactured, packaged, shipped to warehouses, shipped to retailers, purchased then shipped to you. Yup that takes about 7 weeks...

I thought I would add to this. ShopBLT said their ETA on the E6400 is now 8/2-8/4 via e-mail this morning. I ordered from ClubIT last night and my order says "Pending for shipment" (whatever that means) now. People have been saying that ClubIT is shipping the E6400 out, so we'll see. I may actually end up with two E6400s before I can cancel one or the other order.

these hit and miss availability (from certain e-tailers) won't mean much unless they have vast quanity.

Paper launch...pfft. Got my brother's 6400 today after ordering it just yesterday. And that's my second Conroe, got the first 6400 for myself Friday.

There will be plenty of stock on the 7th, it's simply distributors bowing at the Intel altar and not breaking the agreed upon date. Relax.

6300/6400 and 6800 have been in stock at various places. Its the 6600 and 6700 that are really really hard to get a hold of until then.
