funny thing.
when i first installed both pinmods, i farked up and nothing happened. later on i corrected the wirebracket that didn't make contact and bazoong i got fsb200. hm my temps seemed to have increased a good deal doing this (couple degrees) so i decided to try the default fsb166 thing and remove one wirebracket. so with this supposedly fsb166 set as default, i reassembled the rest and fired it up - still fsb200 wtf? so well i only needed to do the pinmod that went parallel to the socket borders (the one that should give you fsb166, dunno what pins). the diagonal connection (that was supposed to make 166->200) was left out, but still fsb200. whatever. my cpu is a axda1700dlt3c jiuhb 0308xpmw and it works with max bios settings and no other hardware mods up to 238 fsb via bios. before it was 221 max. got sandra to run at 240, but that's about it with only 3.06v on the ram (set to 2.9v in bios, abit overvolting)...

i'm thinking about using a dipswitch to enable this mod via the solderpoints on the back of the board - did anyone try that? should work the same "shortening" the same pins as inside the socket, eh?

My 2400 mobile maxed out at 230fsb (max stable that is) in my abit with NO L12 mod. after the mod still 230fsb. The same chip without the mod went 250fsb in my DFI. I think it may be because the mobiles are bartons that the factory changes to default at 133fsb. On the flipside all my 1700's have benifited from the mod. A side note as far as the 8bit mod goes with the mobile's the 5th L3 bridge is already closed. I wonder how long before amd locks the mobiles?

probably never - wouldn't make sense. or they better find another solution to lower the wattage. maybe disabling parts of the processor at runtime

Mobile cpus are for mobiles which dynamically change the multiplier for various processor loads to conserve the battery. With this in mind it would be difficult to lock the multiplier for AMD.

Is it possible to use a pencil to connect the 3rd L12 bridge on the top of the cpu, or would the pencil line have resistance. Conductive ink is expensive :(

Well, I just tried the mod with a little piece of wire and it doesnt look like it worked, I still cant get above 231FSB with my 1700+. I'm going to go and buy some conductive ink and try again. Im writing this just after doing the mod, Is it ok to leave the wire on even if its not working until I fix it?

I did the mod a second time using a wire in the socket instead of on the cpu, and now I can boot at 250FSB dual channel!!1

yea same for me, not quite as high. btw, did you both wires in the socket? for some strange reason mine runs 200 with only the 166 mod in place (?) - doesn't matter to me, as i'm fine with it, lol.

does the DFI infinity have any liking toward 166 over 133? for my mobile 2500

no, the DFI boards seem to not need the L12 mod. u can try it.. but chances are you'll get the same results (high fsb).

Im not sure what you mean, but I took a small piece of wire and put it into the appropriate holes in the socket and then put the cpu down on top of it.

yea same here. but iirc you had to make two of those tiny copper brackets. one to force fsb133->166 and another one to go from 166->200. the funny part with mine is, atm i'm just running the 166->200 bracket without the other one. and the cpu is a dlt3c 1700 - a default fsb133 cpu. this should NOT be working.

i tried the stuff shown here.

connecting ah28 to ah30 enabled default fsb166 (fsb sense 1), adding a connection between ag31 and ah32 finally enabled fsb200 default (fsb sense 0). atm i only have a connection between ag31 and ah32 which shouldn't do di-ck (<- that is being cens0red? wtf) for a 133' cpu - mine is one, so i shouldn't be getting fsb200 default just with that.. strange, eh? ;)

well, I've got the top one of those wires connected and after I flashed my bios my processor showed up as a 2500+ with a 166mhz default fsb (thats with a 1700+)

yeah sky i tried this because I've got a feeling that the L12 mod is messing with my ram a bit and i wanted to be able to have the L12 mod on/off quickly.

unfortunatley it didn't work and i've got no idea why, right now the mod is off, if i have any luck in getting it working i'll let you guys know.

i tried the socket mod and connected the ah30 to ah28 with a wire

i cleared cmos and i booted up, it booted with 100*5 user defined, so my guess whas that it worked, but the strange thing is i can't get any higher, on the other hand, it got me slower ( 215 fsb, before 220 )

i don't get it, did i do something wrong, what can i do?

Load optimised defaults and if it boots at the fsb u want then it worked. Check this in the bios.

i did it and it booted up @ 166 fsb

i will try and up the fsb later today and hopefully i can bench @ 220 fsb

let me get this straight... from what i've read....

i fi have a dfi board (or getting one)... i do not need an L12 mod (wire or bridge method) to get high fsb's with a mobile barton 2X00+

do i have this straight or am i on crack? :)

I am not sure but that pretty dyslexic. :):stick: DFI don't have this problem. I did read that some guy with a prommy and a fsb of 266Mhz was suggesting he may be having the problem. Worry about it when u get to 266fsb though.

I am at 250fsb with xp2500+ running at 2.65Ghz, no such problems.

Yeah. Once I had a 2400+ mobile, the fsb would not go over 260... I thought it was the cpu, did the L12 mod with my lp b, but nope... nothing changed :(

Till I noticed that this 260-263 is the area where apic stops working :mad:
