Also if anyone is wondering F9b bios still doesnt fix S3.
I just got a E5200 :D
Right now its running at 2.75GHz on stock volts :)
Just wondering, does anyone know if there is a E5200 theard? I did a quick search, but I didn't find anything?
i spend a bit of time on each bios version for fsb and ram overclocking and then i can choose which one i like to use most, but so far they are all the same as far as i can see.
anyway what you think about this below everest's, is this good or bad for P45 DDR3-based board?
the scores still suck, don't you think?

Hello again everyone.
I really need serious help here ..
It is still the graphics card problem, and that it is only running under half the speed of that, on the X48..
It is a 9800GX2 card and it is running with two GPUer (as SLI) multi gpu..
In GPU-Z it shows to cards and that SLI is enable, it shows PCIe 2.0 x 16 on both cards, so everything is ok here.
But when I check the hardware in SiSoftware Sandra, there is one card in SLI and one beside that. when I benchmarks in Sandra, for comparison with a similar card, it can only run less than half the speed?? ..
It is as if there is something there are blocking over a certain speed, even if I OC the graphics card, is dont do the slightest difference.
It can run at a certain speed and then it will just not anymore.
I've never had problems on X48.....
Could it be PCIe port there is something with, it must be a hardwre problem, I tried to reinstall the OS and drivers several times ...
so far this is what i can get out of memory with bios f9b.
has somone notice any pefformance gain on any of latest bios?

i own a ep45-ud3p rev 1.0 with bios f8 final, but its the hardest 775 board to get stable from my experience. I previously owned an abit ab9 quadgt and an asus p5k premium and my e8400 was stable @ 4ghz with 1.225 set in bios without any problems with ram @1068, pl6 . I have 2 x 2gb ocz hpc reaper pc8500 and i am having a hell time gettin this board to run @ 4ghz with decent memory timings and voltages . My only stable config was the default settings. I am now testing @ 4ghz with 8.5 x475 fsb, ram settings standard, xmp disabled, 400 strap, ratio 2.00d, ram settings manual @ 5-5-5-15 2.14v, pl9, llc enabled, cpu @ 1.2500, vtt 1.24, vmch 1.28v, every ref up 1 notch, case closed, room temp 23C, eist and c1e enabled cause i don't like to run a 4ghz cpu while browsing websites. BTW i am using vista x64 sp1 and i have creative t6060 5.1 sound speakers but i am only able to hear the rear speakers if i set the audio device to 7.1 speaker configuration. If i set the 5.1 setting i have no rear speakers only the suround ones:( which ofcourse are not present and when i click on them under the testing menu i hear the sound on my front speakers:(. When i insert my rear speakers on the black port they are sensed like rear speakers so i really dont know what to think. I am using the sound driver from the gigabyte website.
Hope this helps dualcore users who have a hard time finding 4ghz, 24/7 settings with 2 x 2 gb ram
This settings are fine up to [460*9] or [500*8.5] F.E.A.R. 2 stable.

here is how its set now.. (dont pay attention too the volts I was messing around trying something out :P)
Im looking too either get my ram too 1200mhz, or keep it at 1000mhz with better timein, whatever will give me better memory bandwith
i have the G.Skill PI8800 (1100mhz 5-5-5-15 1.8-1.9v)

Could someone tell me why my PC won't post unless I use the 1:2 RAM driver?
Thanks
fatguy1992, you're not new to the board so maybe something your overlooking (in plain sight poss) in some of the less obvious settings. Did it do a reset?
Can someone do a compare of aida32 and Everest mem write read benches? please, for reference. Thanks.
When I applied the settings it would not post, then try again which wouldn't post and then on the third time it would reset back to default, but still show my settings in BIOS. I hope that makes some sense cause i'm really tired atm.
EDIT: I just tested it again and I got the 200MHz Latch with 2.66C to work :D

i’m posting to find out how you like your new gkill 9600 kit, and if you don't mind me asking, how much you paid for it?
i still have a brand new UD3R 1.0 ddr2 board and still waiting to get the kit whenever i see the price is right.
in the meantime i'm learning how to use the ddr3 one.
i finally got a better everest's at below 500fsb and strap 266 (4.0A)
and this's under vista 32-bit...

Did anybody else notice how high the pll voltage spikes under load? My multimeter is showing 1.63v-1.66v under load with pll voltage set to 1.5v in bios. Dropping it down to 1.45v keeps it under 1.55v under load.
Is this a common problem or should I return this board for another one is 1.6xv safe for 24/7 use? I read that anything over 1.64v could cause degradation or death with these 45nm chips.
BTW, I got my Q9650 up to 4.4ghz @ 1.36v SS are in the Q9650 thread.:D
heres a comparison of 525x8 everest scores the only difference is theone with the low copy(9k) is 32bit XP OS and the 11k copy score is x64 XP OS.

i dont own a DMM yet.sorry
So what do you think Jor? In your opinion is it still safe to use 1.50/1.57PLL on this board with 45nm's? BTW, I fixed my rig, stable at 476x9 now 1.39vcore! Thanks to you and Hoss for helping me! When I run my final blend test I will post all settings and information.
Are these the voltage read out points you were looking at? http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...review-15.html
does anyone here have a 5.1 analog system conected to this board and using vista x64 sp1 cause i can't use the realtek drivers to work well with my speakers. Even tried latest version 2.18 still no rear speakers detected under 5.1 configuration :( The windows drivers work well no problem, but i think it should be more.
That's great news Slim, I'm glad I could help a little. You should e fine with those PLL's. I didn't need more then 1.5 all the way to 4750Mhz.
Nice find coop.
According to the review "the EP45-UD3P has terrific voltage output. There is very little variance between what you select in the BIOS and what the board actually outputs. The DIMM, NB, PLL, and VTT voltages are very accurate and stable, showing no variances between idle and load states."
So the value you set on BIOS for NB, VTT and PLL it's pretty much the real one, if you measure those and the output is way off I would be concerned and double check DMM batteries too.
But then again, every motherboard/psu combo should output slightly different values and that can change even from cpu to cpu type.
I agree Jor3lBR, the accuracy is about spot on. Great product.
That is the point that I used to measure PLL voltage and mine reads exessively high with anything above 1.45v. If I set it to 1.5v in bios I get 1.63v-1.66v under load. I've been doing some experimenting and this does seem to be the correct spot. When I change PLL settings in bios the voltage from this spot changes and none of the other voltages move.
So what am I to do, keep the board knowing that it has issues with voltage regulation or return it for a new one?
Edit: I think I'm going to return this board tomorrow and hope the new one has proper regulation, this one is F.U.B.A.R. and I don't want to take the chance of it giving me some magic smoke and taking my quad away with it.
can somebody post recommended bios setting for stock (2.4ghz), 2.8 ghz and 3.0ghz?

xavisimao, start by setting your vcore manualy and see if that helps. I would also set vtt and pll voltage to defaults instead of auto.
does this m/b needs more MCH voltage than other P45s ?
as stated here
http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/revie...html#post48572
I am to choose between EP45-UD3R and P5Q - E( or deluxe@more expensive though)
or is only that MCH Reference thing you are talking about all the time...sry , 975X here no idea about P45, yeah a little bit old fashioned
im pretty sure those sticks will not do 1200.but one thing you can change is ,set trfc to 55.i used to run mine at 520x8 and at 1:1 that gives your memory 1040.you can also try 471x8.5 and run the 333strap 2.40B should be around ddr1130 set pl8
DUDE! 1.71PLL is not a good idea! Your going to be way way way better off with 8.5x471 running the 2.4B strap and much much less VTT/MCH. Try these and see if you can boot. If not raise your VTT/MCh to 1.32/1.32, raise the VTT first and let the references adjust. You should be running something like ~65% of the VTT for a reference and ~67% of the MCH for a reference. You can run 2.0V ram at first and then lower it later. Get rid of that 700mv/700mv and 200ps clock skews. Try 900/900/0/0 or 1000/1000/0/50. You can also try up to 1.57PLL but NO MORE. Boot with these setting first though. Good luck:up:

Great! Just remember that using the 2.4B strap might prevent you from running 1.34VTT/1.34MCH(I do not think you will need it that high) so don't freak out if you can not boot or instant BSOD if you try that high. I think you might be able to go lower on the ram then I suggested but make 100% sure your vcore/vtt/mch levels are stable before lowering your ram. If you get BSOD's or prime fails do not change to many settings at one time. Those settings are pretty much identical to what I can run my 9650 at with 9x471, since you have a 9550 then 8.5x471 should be spot on.
okay i got 4GHz stable @8X500
what needs to get more volts besides v-core to get more Mhz stable ?
for the life of me i just cannot get this stable. i get either a bluescreen or a failure of prime/occt about 5-10min in. im using Jor3lBR's template for 4.41ghz
the only things i changed are i set the ram to 1:1 (333mhz strap 2.0 multi) and DRAM voltage to 2.1. the driving strength profiles, channel a & b, should i set those to 1066? i've even gone a notch or two higher Vcore, giving me 1.392 windows and still no go. grrr.... its odd because, i boot into windows in under 30sec, just like i do now @ stable sig settings, everything seems smooth and groovy. i dont know how to tell if i need more vcore or if its the mch/cpu ref values that need tweaking.Code:Q9650 489 X 9 4401MHz

Not really, if you get a good balance between the reference voltages you can run almost as low as the Asus series : eg for 580FSB/DDR3 action I need 1.36NB, on the Asus I needed 1.33 set in bios ( 1.34 in reality) Many users push high FSB and NB volts here due to the fact that the reference voltages aren't balanced. I alos got a DDR2 version now and it's way easier to setup than the DDR3 one I got. These boards are fab, but needs some tinkering to get it soaring ( and there seems to be some variation in the biosses between the different versions )
good evening lads
got my hands on an e8600 today, currently got it at 4 gig 10 x 400 @1.28vcore idling at 34/48 under load.i have tested it under orthos for an hour and its stable,
i use cpu-z and it always shows that my multiplier is x6 but this is not true, should show x10 - also the program will not show what mhz the ram is running at,shows timings only,
i downloaded the last cpu-z 1.50 and the same with that.even realtemp show x6 and occt also shows x6 , am i missing something here.like a performance saving setting, lol,
any advice would be much appreciated or tips on futher overclocks as i think this has a lot more to give.24/7 i am after.
i also bought the new akasa nero 1366 cpu cooler,it is massive and quite fiddly to get all the springs to lock, and getting the fan attached with the rubber bits is scary, you have to pull so hard you think the rubber is going to snap.
its running max 1680 rpm and its whisper quiet so i am pleased despite the hard work getting it on,dont want to mess around with that again if i can help it,next thing will be to source some ram which we let me go further.want to get at least 1250mhz but dont think the ram is up to it.
any suggestion or advice on any of the things i have talked about will be great to know, take it easy lads.

Try running memtest #5 and #7 for a while. That will tell you if its your ram/mch problem. If that works ok then run prime small fft for a while. If that fails then its a Vcore/Vfsb vtt problem. See what is breaking down before you change anything. If it fails prime blend then it could be anything:shrug:
This board is amazing.
I was upgrading my wife's PC and I bought a UD3R.
I used to have a DFI DK P45 T2RS for my E8600. Good for benching, but this Giga is awsome for 24/7.
After seeing the results for her PC, I bought a second board for me...

This week end I will install the second UD3 under my E8600 (batch Q822A435), and will see what happens.
By the way, I spent lot of time reading and getting very usefull informations from this thread, and that made the approach to this new MB very easy.
So, thanks to all of you.
Based on that review I made a little block to measure the voltages safely (should come with something like this from the manufacturer )

i have no idea what the reviewer said in there as i have not read the page yet, however, in my opinion based on my experience at using a couple of asus P5Q-D boards, gigabyte P45 UD3's uses less NB voltage at the same CPU and RAM overclocks and with similar system ram configuration.
also my P5Q-D boards were not good boards at all, most of the release BIOS sucked and caused numerous problems in the past, the P5Q-D board looks good with dark colour pcb and the 16 phase component layouts but that's all i used to like about them, but after a while of using the boards i get rid of them, so i can only recommend you to get gigabyte UD3's (either UD3R or UD3P) board. i think asus have made 965P and P35 based boards a lot better than they produces P45.
anyway, you may want to read around first (before you decide which board you like to use) as this threads have covered a lot of things on UD3's boards.
My Q6600 runs fine at defaults. As a matter of fact I can go all the way to 3.6 with everything on auto (which I don't do, but tried for testing). You might want to run your RAM at defaults to see what it does. You also might want to get your hands on the F9a (beta) BIOS. Mine would freeze at any setting with the official F8, but has no problems with the F9a.
one thing you guys can try that works for me is dont set strap (leave on auto) like this.

Hey guys, I need some help here. I'm on my second UD3P v1.1 and the PLL voltage is not correct on this board either. Set it to 1.5v-1.57v or laeve it on auto and I get 1.63v-1.66v under load.
If any of you guys own a multimeter or have access to one can you please check your PLL voltage under load so we can figure out if this is just an isolated case or if there is really something to be concerned about.
The absolute maximum rated PLL voltage according to intel data sheet is 1.57v.
May be this is the info for some one who compare this board with P5Q serie. I just got P5Q Deluxe buy the second hand in my country for a while and I can got 550x8 stable very easywith a simple setting in BIOS,but every thing need more Volt than UD3P for sure.!!I don't want to complain my UD3P may be It's not match with my E8600 I try to hit with the high fsb and no luck . Just let you know I 'll back with UD3P later after I got some Quadcore and new ram to this board. I plan to have a new Rig soon.:)
Now I'm happy with my expected FSB setting.

The q9650 I have runs very warm even at stock vid 1.2125v, idle 38c to 40c mid 50's loaded out small fft's. Have tried 3 different HS's a TT120 first then 2 different Ultra120 Extremes, ordered a couple Scythe 133cfm. fans with the same basic results. The 120 does help when loaded out, better than the TT120. Also put the same chip in the other case on a different ud3p with similar temps, even tried a different PSU. I am still shooting for 4.25ghz for 24/7 use. My question is if I am able to get the fsb I need but with a lower multi, is it just a matter of vcore at that point to get it stable with a higher multi? Should I then leave the reference voltages alone? I know the memory is good where it is, so running small fft's trying to get the cpu stable at 473fsb. Will run Prime blend for a final test. At 4.25 ITB would  at my temps so that probably isn't an option.
Thanks

Hey guys.
I bought my self this motherboard. EP45-UD3P.
It s a high FSB lower. :) All settings on auto and i reached 664 FSB on C2D E8500:
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=527087
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=520385
When i benched the E8500 and that mobo under LN2 i reached 671 FSB :
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=527110
I think that the RAM is the problem for a higher FSB.
Max frequency on E8500 was 6015 MHz 1.77V :
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=527087
But i had one problem and that is that the mobo stopped working normaly and started to crash after about 15 min of overclocking. I think that she dosen't like to much cold. I tryed it 5 times and always after about 15 min it started to act funny, giving me bad performance and low clocks. It looks like when the mobo get's cold it refuses to work normaly.
"always after about 15 min it started to act funny, giving me bad performance and low clocks. It looks like when the mobo get's cold it refuses to work normaly."
spanked and sent to bed w/no dinner......Those are really good numbers.
This chip just doesn't have what it takes (or I dont) to make it to 4.25ghz on air. Hit 75c running prime small fft's at 1.36v. Will have a better chance with my q9550. Cannot keep the temps down. Was able to get the FSB I wanted just not with a 9 multi so not a total loss :ROTF:, was good experience if nothing else.
I can't even install OS on this thing. When Vista begins install it crashes either during installation or right after the first boot setting up the computer. I have tried several settings, including Optimized. Could someone point me to a straight out the box BIOS set-up to work with. If all else fails am going to RMA.
I have two HDD's One Seagate, other Western Digital (Both SATA). SATA DVD Burner. I have UD3P, Q6600 G0 or B0 Stepping (Sorry not home). I have 2X2GB Corsair XMS2 Memory 5-5-5-18 1.8V.
This actually happened with my other MOBO. Everything is new except Nvidia 7600GT GPU. PSU-Ultra Modular 800W.
Thanks for the help.
Hello, first time OC'er here having some fun with my UD3P and Q9650. I've been reading the Noob OC guides as well as viewing other peoples specs/settings to help get me started. I OC'd to 3.6 and ran Prime small blend overnight, one of the cores had an error ("Rounding was 0.49..., expected less than 0.4") after 2 hours, all of the other cores made it through the night. I also ran memtest for 90 minutes with zero errors. Here are my settings:

Any advice on my settings are greatly appreciated. I'm certainly no expert but I think my vcore is a tad high for a 3.6 OC, I'm sure I could lower it but I was just trying to give myself headroom to OC higher, and my temps were fine.... oh speaking of:
3.6 OC
idle temps: 33/33/25/31
load temps: 60/58/50/50
Should I loosen my RAM timings? 5-7-7-20?
Should I specify the (G)MCH Freq Latch? My options are 266, 200, 333 and 400.
I really have no idea what the MCH and ICH voltages should be... I based mine off of what I saw other people had.
Pretty much same thing with the RAM voltages, my RAM has 1.8-1.9 on the box so I just chose 1.84?!?
Thank you for your time!!
Change the things noted by the ***; if i didnt overlook anything "that" should get you stable up to approx 4 ghz. Try to keep your Vcore, Vtt, and MCH core pretty close to each other. Also to set your refs; set your vtt to 1.2, then set your mch/ref to .76 (or whatever the default is) then set your cpu/ref to .76 (default).
Then; increase your VTT (cpu termination) to whatever you want.
Usually one click or so below your Vcore. Your CPU and MCH refs will change when you change your VTT. You may need to adjust them later, but this should get your started. After you have a good overclock, you can try to lower the voltages one at a time, while testing each change.
Set your Vcore and Vtt with prime95 small fft, and mch core/refs with memtest.
With these voltages; you can start @ 3.6Ghz and then see how far you can go up before you need to change anything. This should get you started anyway.
OOPS,,,,You got lots o'ram...You may need more MCH core for that and also your DRAM/voltage might need to be increased also,
good luck
Im not familar with that ram, but it may need 2 or 2.1 volts ??? but dont try it until someone else (more familiar with that particular ram) chimes in
Does anyone else think my temps are bit high, considering the volts, room is ~26C, its only drawing 40watts on power and it is with a IFX-14 with a 3000RPM fan?
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/m...1992/WTF-1.jpg
My Q6600 @ 3.6GHz would use 140watts, 1.3v and in a ~26C room it would run at those temps.
So are E5200's normally this hot?
Thanks
Thanks what I was thinking, i'll re-apply the thermalpaste :)
Hi folks,
Appreciate any tips on this. I was able to push my e7300 past 3.4ghz, I'm now running a stable 3.6ghz... but I can't seem to push it further than that. Also, FSB doesn't seem to like when i push it past 400mhz.http://C:\Users\Edward\Pictures\Settings.jpg

Was able to get 483fsb to pass small ffts overnight, running blend now :). Im sure the memory is good where its at so should be fine.. Had to enable llc to keep the vcore down to where temps were even remotely acceptable (to me) most wouldn't run at these temps but at this point I really don't care. This chip was bought to run 4.25ghz for 24/7 use make it or break it. Need to reapply the thermal paste, I had a 14c difference between cores although I think the sensor's are off a bit. With lower vcore they were in line with each other but now 2 cores read 10 to 14c higher than the other 2 under load running small fft's. Vcore1.3375v bios LLC VTT1.260 MCH1.30 Ref. voltages were left at normal, ..760
different hardware configurations may or will have different results, i think.
i ran super_pi test only, but after that it (usually) requires and i would add a few more volts for prime95.
i'm not interested in running the IBT yet.

btw, here's a little comparison between my own boards.
super_pi 32m times of EP45-UD3R DDR2 XP x64 OS vs. EP45T-UD3R DDR3 Vista 32-bit.

Thanks mreld3r... very helpful. I entered the values you suggested... first thing, when I entered 1.34 for VTT and MCH Core the CPU and MCH References automatically changed to .848.... Is that ok or was I supposed to try and keep them at .76?
I was able to get into windows just fine up to 450x9 and run my typical software without any noticeable problems. I ran into problems though with memtest and prime blends (they failed immediately)... prime small fft's ran fine on a short 10 minute test but my temps during that were: 70/66/58/58 and the cpu read 71. This is too high correct?
Due to the memtest and prime blends errors I assume the RAM settings need to be tweaked?

sometimes after I change some bios settings mine will hang on the windows screen that says 'loading user settings' for a minute or two.
Try This for starter (you had loads of settings way off including some mem timings):

It hangs up when my OC is bad. I normally don't wait for it to fix itself, I hit the reset button. If it does it again I shut it down and turn the power switch off a couple times for around 30 seconds or so. That normally takes care of it. Then go back into bios and try different settings..
