Can someone please share the vmod pics on imageshack? I can't see the attachments for some reason, but I think the server transfer had something to do with it.

I have one, but can not see your picture :)Quote:

The first card that I modded was an XFX 7900GT.
I noticed that I had to connect a 47Kohm resistor from pin 3 to +5Volt creating an offset in Vref of -30mVolt.
With this resistor I could run "Comanche 4 demo" with 710Mhz on the core, without resistor not above 630Mhz.
Ati Tools ran 710Mhz in all cases.
The reason to my opinion can only be that in demanding applications, like Comanche 4, because of a large fluctuating current demand of the GPU, there is much fluctuation on the Vcore.
These voltage fluctuations go beyond the OVP, which then shuts down the GPU.
By making an negative offset of 30mV, there is 30mV more room before the OVP trips. At the same time Vgpu is lowered by 30 mVolt.
I did not experiment with other values, but 47Kohm gave me the stability I needed to run Comanche at the same speed as Ati Tool.
Now I have modified a second 7900GT ( 1.55Volt, 2.1Volt, 45Kohm), this time from Gigabyte.
Much to my surprise I had to apply the same 47Kohm resistor as before to get Comanche at the speed that Ati tool achieved.
So if you are having some stability problems, the best tool that I know to test this is Comanche 4 Demo, apply a 47Kom resistor between the points that I have encircled in light blue in the Jpeg.
guys i have some :banana::banana::banana:ty problem here .
modded gfx to 1.6vgpu mod , removed the caps voor ovp .
but when i run 800core with 1.6vgpu it reboots . i can do 800core easy on 1.5vgpu :(
gfx is under modded prom . pci-e @ 130mhz .
very strange any one can help me plz ?
already NR1 for 06 with single gfx :) http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=538646

removed the 2 caps for ovp but still reboot , can some one help me :(
Sorry for the OT but has anyone got a dead card as I desperately need the light grey coloured square ceramic choke shown in the right bottom corner ??? :)Quote:

Thanks :)
sorry for my ignorance... but is there a vmem mod for this card posted within this thread?
hello
i have a inno3d 7900gs. for some reason vgpu mod doesnt work although i tried the 0.05,0.1 and 0.2 v mod on both areas. the layout is similar to standard 7900 gt. any idea?
hmm... i tried this mod today...
the +0.2 gives me +0.3. strange....
That means 700 core is possible... 1.5v should be enough for that, if it can't then the core sucks ;)Quote:

not too shabby
I applied the 1.4v mod back then, got it 660 stable, but set it at 650 just to be sure, so yeah I guess if you come from 560 @ 1.2v to 660 @ 1.4v then 700 should be possible... stable ;)
Hi guys,
I have done the 1.5 Vmod and can run my core at 700 no problem. Now after I have installed the new Nvidia (with coolbits), my max mem clock adjustable range has changed from 800 to 1.6G (after auto-detect). What is going on there?
Now I re-read this thread and I can see some people quoting their mem setting 19XX MHz but some other has theirs at 8XX MHz. I am confused and would some one explain that, please?
Also I tried benchmarking with 3DMarks06 in 1280 x 1024 and get about 4500, does that sounds reasonable? Also, does the test resolution matter? if so what would we usually use for testing?
If I increase the mem clock to 1600 I get 5500 in 3DMarks06 which IMO is a sigificant gain. Too bad it's showing artifacts in ATITools and I have to lower mem frequency back to 900 before no artifacts is showing anymore. Do you think I should also do the Vmem mod as well?
Cheers,
hello all.. i got Leadtek 7900GS with the same PCB as the 7900GT showen in here :
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=543
is that means i should connect with pencil the places with the purple color and i will have 1.4Vgpu?
can some1 show me?
the picture below is a picture of my card..(pictured by me..)
i want someone to paint me on this picture where should i connect with a pencil for getting 1.4V..

ofcourse a regular home pencil is not a problem...
edit : i connected these points and now i was able to run 3dmark05 on core 600(before it only 575\580)
the card get 60c with atitool testing.. but i cant get more from 600.. so i think i only got 1.3V..
the mod is working.. but if i want more from 1.4V without soldering\conductive pen - is that possible?
edit2 : i painted the places with a more conductive B4 pencil and now i can go and bench in 645/890.. before the mod i chould bench on 575/890...
so.. because i dont have a multimeter.. is that means my card is on 1.4V or less? how can i know?

Good thread, thanks for the information. I have been testing these mods on a eVGA 7950GT KOSC and I think I am having some problems with overcurrent protection.
The 'K' resistor you mentioned was ~80khz on the 7900GT is 50khz on the 7950GT, so it looks like they changed that similar to what you had mentioned.
They have already connected the B and C points on the board for increased voltage.
At 1.55v I can get to 740mhz core stable, however, if I try 1.65v I get a black screen at anything over 700mhz in 3DMark05. I tried soldering the 47kohm resistor like you mentioned for the overvolt protection, but it did not change the black screens in 3DMark05.
Any ideas on what I can try? My 7900GTX did not have this problem and could be run as high as 1.8v without problems. This is on a waterblock from Viper John with loaded temps of 40C.
Thanks!

So if you want 1,4Volt, only apply purple.
You have apllied all tricks that I now of. It seems that you have no more hardware options.Quote:

Performance goes up if you use a delta of 40 or 50Mhz. Just try what setting gives you the best results.

The delta can run at 40mhz at ~792mhz GSE. I was expecting a little more from this card, win some lose some. The GTX ran as high as 840mhz core and 2140mhz memory.
I will try 1.6v and see if it still trips it. I have not tried increasing the resistance on the OCP resistor but I may try that.
Thanks!
thanks to your guide i managed to get 715/895 benchable(vmem = stock)
i get 1.5V with a pencil mod(checked with the vgpu monitor)
i get 90c @ full load and 75-80 in games.. is that fine? im currently using stock cooler+80mm fan as in the picture below..
and my score in 3dmark05 is flying :))

Hi guys,
New here.
@t024484:First of all a awesome guide good work.:toast:
I have a eVGA 7900 GT KO 512Mb card and the card has a default 3d voltage of 1.45v.At these voltgaes the card clocks to stable gtx clocks ie 650/1600.But i wanted to go a little higher (I play oblivion which kinda needs more power) So I was thinkin to voltmod my card too,I have gone through both the voltmod guides but my card has the switching circuit ie in 2d modes its voltage is 1.2v and for 3d its 1.45v,in one of the post's i had read that the card might also be able to switch to 1.55v so i tried and flashed it with a bios that can give 1.5v but it was not able to do so.I also noticed that the yellow line is not short (0.1v) hence the card gets 1.45v (0.2+0.05v).I would love to increase 0.1v more and see how does my card can do.But again due to the switching circuit i was confused and wanted to make sure which points have to be joined, plase note that I'll be using a pencil as i dont have conductive ink for the time being and I dont want to sholder it.Any tips would be helpful so as how to go ahead with the pencil.
here is the pic of the voltage region of my card (clicked by me).

please mark in this pic as which points need to be joined :) .
thax a lot.
