Marvelous. A very clean and tidy way to solve an annoying problem. Well done! :)Quote:

I can post dimensions of it for those who want to make their own though would that help?
Yay !
I will post my mounting mod later, cheaper option just with bits found at local hardware store.
But my 740 has just booted up and managed 2.6 right out the box with std Vcore.
I would like to thank everyone who has posted about these and done all the digging for information as its realy helped me. :toast:
This is faster then my SD3700 was at 2.9 :woot:
Did you guys have expierience with the p4gd1? i will get it but is the multiplier unlocked at the modded bios?
And how does the board perform.
YES, PLEASE!Quote:

Four mounting holes =
Ok then, after work I will post the dimensions used along with a little drawing to make it as clear as possible

wow!
Heh heh... I joined up here so I could post in this thread. Awesome work guys! Now my question. I have a P4P800 Deluxe (very cheaply procured) and a celeron M 350 (Even cheaper!), so I could flash it with the beta bios for the P4P800 and get support for the ct-479 and retain all features of the board. Now if I flash to the P4P800-E bios I will get vcore agp/pci lock and cpu vid adjustment, but will I loose any board features like raid or lan? I guess I would really like to know what the best bios would be for this board then. Thanks all you Xtreme GODS :D
Another step reached with my new 730: 1.6@2.6

Guys i think this has to be the easiest way, you need a TDX with a spacer ( like on the 775 Blocks) but with a 478 top. This lifts the top away from the power connectors and the jumpers. I spoke with Rokk over at DD and they should be able to cater for blocks on a special order, so just pop them an email first. The bars have to be bent...you could just bend 2 and push the others straight thru the mounting cage but i bent all 4...just remember to heat them up first so they don't crack and break. The whole bending process took me 5 mins and i cooled them under a running tap.
The pics should help you get a good idea of what i did, no modding of the card is required.

Thats some nice stuff bigtoe! good job
bigtoe, is that a heatsink on the clock generator? :D
Looks like it to meQuote:

heres a screeny
Mounting a Prommie onto a Dothan.....
First of all, full of seal string - I'm fond of seal string - ..... :)
http://www.thelab.gr/images/Hipro5/D...eal_string.jpg
We can ALSO put a heatspreader of a P4 if we wish......The purpose of this is to avoid breaking the corners of the Dothan core which are TOO delicate.......I gained about 50MHz more with this on air but I think it was due to providing more pressure on the contact..... ;)
http://www.thelab.gr/images/Hipro5/D...t_spreader.jpg
Now........we take the clips of Dothans default heatsink and we just clip the prommie's head onto the socket.......
http://www.thelab.gr/images/Hipro5/D...mmie_mount.jpg
Finally a total system view and the clips from a different angle......
http://www.thelab.gr/images/Hipro5/D...ull_system.jpg
ALSO this CPU is craping out at about 3GHz no matter what VCore I give.......It reaches the 3GHz with 1.375VCore and does NOTHING at all if I give more VCore to it........Time for a new one........This one is from the first ones and of the year 2004...... :(

So if i boot @ 201 my AGP/PCI is locked. But i lose PAT :fact:Quote:
Got my adapter and 730. 2,6GHz seems to be about the max for this chip with conventional cooling. Damm Asus P4P800 SE board looses the agp/pci -lock wit ATI -card when booting 200FSB. Bootin 201 locks them but looses the PAT -latensy enhancement... kinda sucks. ...doesn´t help much even when performance mode is enabled wit Tw865 -memtweaker. About 10ns slover latency, 60MB/s slower memory write and 450MB/s slower memory read measured with Everest home -benchmark with 1:1 217FSB PAT vs no PAT.
*might* be worth attempting a bootblock flash to keep PAT enabled over 200 fsb. Tried this personally but ended up nuking the bios. Was probably a mistake on my part though. Gave up however, and switched to a P4C which keeps PAT over 200 fsb without an issue
Correct me if i'm wrong but this issue is true only for ATI cards. With 6800 i can boot @200 FSB to keep my pat enabled. Then use clockgen to up the fsb. After changing the FSB in windows to more then 200 will PAT stay enabled?
And is it true that by booting @200FSB my mem timings are set 2.2.2.5? What if my ram cant handle those? Does it makes sence to have PAT enabled with 2.5,3,3,6?
Thanks in advance. You guys got me realy intrested in getting dothan rig. I will use p4p800se, 730, TCCD, and my custom AIR chilbox @-28c. Initialy i will just aircool it and then set it on chiled water. This will be my gaiming rig :woot:
HiPro, thanks for taking the time to post the pics. You can never post too many pics.
And yes, it seems friggin 3.0 is my max too, didn't get anything from going from Vapo to -85 cascade, but could be a contact issue. :(

These things rock :D Got back home last night, hopefully Persivore will mod the hell outta the P4C and 9500NP while I'm back :D Just to make things that little bit faster still ;)
I have a p4c800 (non e non deluxe) here and this bios doesn't work for me:
flashed first time with afudos 116 with /n /pbnc command. when the flash is finished, it asks to reboot and when I do, everything spins up but I get no visual.
I flashed again with the latest afudos. it reboots fine... once. then i have the same problem.
when i reset the bios, it boots but again, just once. when I select load defaults and continue, it reboots but same problem: no visual.
now I've done the same thing with the latest beta bios for the P4C800 (1021b_04) and this bios seems fine apart from 1 rather anoying thing: it shuts down instantly when I reboot be it by shorting the pins or CTRL+ALT+DEL.
I wanted to check the german asus ftp again for a different bios but I can't get into the "intel chipset" folder (all other folders work fine) and if I remember correctly, the second most recent bios is the 1019 wich probably will not support dothan...
both biosses also gave me random discolored bios screens
does anyone else get graphical glitches in 3dmode when pat is enabled running past a certain fsb?
my setup is the following, all stock aircooling for the time being:
760 on p4p800-se, bios 1009.003
2x 512 khx3200 bh5 @3.3v
pov gf6800gt with default ultra-heatsink
ocz powerstream 520w
so with PAT enabled i used to boot at 167 1:1 and upped the fsb in windows. i could go well past 220 that way, stable and all. just when i ran am3 - because it always was the first to show glitches - i get some artifacting like the gfx-card gets to little juice, black triangles and all. that is at stock clocks on the gfx-card. so i started dropping the fsb in 5mhz steps until it reached around 180 where it would almost stop. iirc 178 was the setting where it finally ran without artifacts.
back when i ran the same speeds (fsb, ram & overall clocks on the cpu) with my 9800xt, i could do fsbs of >220 mhz and would get no such errors.
so then i decided to step it up some and booted at 201 mhz fsb with PAT disabled or partially enabled. that way i could up the fsb to almost 290 mhz (mem 3:2 or 5:4 - didn't matter) without getting glitches on the geforce. only when i went even further, like 300 mhz or even 310ish on the fsb, i would get artifacting again - still with the gf at stock clocks.
then again, i could also boot at 251 mhz 1:1 with PAT enabled (since on the p4p800se you get pat back on when selecting ddr500 as ramspeed). that would work good for everything BUT graphical apps. i haven't tested how far i would need to drop the fsb to stop the artifacting, but my guess is that the border for that happening would be about the same 175-185 mhz fsb it used to be before with the 6800gt installed.
this seems rather strange to me, but i have heard of this from other folks around using current gen cards - not necissarily all nvidia. some x800's where in the pack iirc.
so if anybody has a workaround for that, i'd really appreciate that. from the looks of it, this seems to be somewhat nb-related, with slacker timings or something on the nb when PAT is disabled. even increasing the vagp didn't really do any good...
/edit
this phenomenon is indepedent of the cpu-clock. with PAT enabled i got it at 2800 mhz (200x14, 1:1), 2400 mhz (200x12, 1:1) or even 2000 mhz (200x10, 1:1) using the same fsb-speeds and voltages for all runs or at 2760 mhz (306x9, 5:4) with PAT partially enabled...
